Chapter 19: The Tank of Lightning

"Well…that's happening," Crusadermon said quietly as she watched the cracks appearing right in front of her. It was like watching a window pane slowly shattering in front of her. Seeing it filled her with so much curiosity and dread - to reach out and touch it, but also to run away in terror. "What is it?"

She turned to Dynasmon for an answer, and saw affirmation written plainly across his eyes. He stepped towards it, "It is our faith being answered. Destiny is breaking and reality with it, as our Lord Lucemon said it would."

"Great. More words that don't mean anything," Crusadermon grumbled, turning her attention back towards the growing cracks in front of her. "Let me know when you're going to stop talking like a pretentious idiot."

"It means the cracks in reality are beginning to become noticeable. Destiny is being driven off its path!" Dynasmon said happily. "Lucemon can return and we will live to see a world free from the shackles of predetermination."

"Okay, let's assume I only understand half of that. What's going on with these cracks? I get the whole destiny part, but what's on the other side of the crack? I mean a crack implies a barrier…and if there's a barrier, that means it's weakening. So what's on the other side of…whatever this is?" Crusadermon asked anxiously, noticing one of the cracks get longer as she asked that question.

"Freedom is what's on the other side," Dynasmon said.

"I love how that both didn't answer my question and scared me," she answered quietly, watching as the crack appeared to grow. Then she heard a voice - a soft whisper coming from the other side of the cracks. No, not a whisper. Whispers. An endless chanting of a phrase repeating over and over again in a rhythm. But it was too soft and too muffled to properly make out. Whatever it was terrified her. She didn't want to see…to know what was on the other side.

She'd aligned herself with Dynasmon and Lucemon to avoid her own predetermined fate - meaningless death. Now, she worried that it may have been better to accept her fate than defy it. It had to be better than whatever was calling out from the other side of these cracks.

"Oh great. The rock is talking to us now," JP said as he twisted the edge of his jump suit to wring out water.

"Who are you calling a rock? I'm Whamon! And you humans are about to become my lunch if you don't explain what you're doing on my head right now!" Whamon grumbled at them so loudly that they felt the ground shake beneath their feet.

"Can you calm down? You're making the ground shake!" Zoe reasoned quietly.

"THAT GROUND IS MY HEAD!" Whamon snapped back angrily. "NOW GET OFF!"

"And go where? We can't swim forever and there's no where for us to stand around here," Zoe pointed out to the whale digimon beneath their feet.

"THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM!" Whamon shouted back at them.

"Oh yeah? And what is your problem? Because so far, it sounds like it's yelling at us!" JP snapped back at the giant whale. For the first time, the whale digimon fell silent and didn't yell at the digidestined. Although they could hear the digimon taking long and deep breaths through his blow hole before he finally answered, "If you must know-"

Bokomon and Neemon were dragged before Lopmon, thrown to the ground before the little brown rabbit that stared at them with wide eyed horror. She looked up at her guards disapprovingly, "You don't have to be so rough with them. We're all still digimon here."

"They didn't want to come," Terriermon said quietly.

"They don't like to be talked about like they're not here," Bokomon hissed at them all.

"Who's this they everyone is talking about?" Neemon asked with his head tilted to the side.

"We are!" Bokomon sighed.

"Are you sure it's not them? If we're we, then how can we be they?" Neemon asked. Bokomon wanted to bang his head against a wall - partially because he couldn't tell if Neemon was that stupid or that sarcastic. He pushed past the question and turned his attention back towards the brown rabbit alarmingly. "Why are we here? First you separate us from our friends and then you drag us back in ropes."

"That's why I wanted to talk to you. You neglected to mention they were the digidestined," Lopmon said cautiously. Bokomon's eyes widened and worry for the digidestined set in. How had Lopmon found out? What was going to happen to those kids now that she knew? And where were they? No, he shouldn't be thinking about the digidestined right now. He should be more concerned with what Lopmon would do to him and Neemon.

Lopmon hopped down to the floor and walked towards them, "I wish one of you would have mentioned that sooner. I also wish one of you had mentioned that The Digimon Tamer was among them."

That last part caught Neemon's attention, "You know who he is?"

"We share a history, however brief it is," Lopmon replied candidly. "Though I suppose it doesn't matter now that they're gone to…wherever. Which is why I wanted you two brought before me. Where did the digidestined go? The sooner you answer, the sooner we can find them and start sorting this whole mess out."

That news hit Bokomon hard. They'd been abandoned? So quickly and without a thought for their own well being? The digidestined wouldn't have just done that…would they? Had he been wrong to place his trust in them? "They just left us?"

"How would we know?" Neemon added quietly. "If you ask me, Tamer didn't really have much of plan besides wander around until they find the Guardian Spirits. He kept saying he was going to get them home, but I feel like we should've gotten to that Hallowed Bastion days ago if that's what was happening."

"The Hallowed Bastion? Damn…that's in a no go zone," Lopmon frowned.

"When has something like that ever stopped us?" the Terriermon guard asked from beside her with a smile. Lopmon allowed herself the briefest of moments to smile as well, before regaining her previous composure. "You're right. We shouldn't. Prepare to pack up the camp and move out. We'll pursue those digimon we've been chasing another time. For now, we move towards the Hallowed Bastion. The sooner we get there, the sooner we can meet back up with the digidestined and start making sense of this mess."

Terriermon saluted by placing an armored hand over his chest before marching out of the tent. They could hear the little digimon shouting commands at the others, butt hat wasn't enough to answer all of his questions.

"What makes you think this mess will be sorted out once you have them?" Bokomon inquired of the brown bunny digimon.

"Well, the problems tend to get resolved when the humans show up. I figure if we keep them around, then whatever problem the Digital World is having will work itself," Lopmon said with a firm nod. "Until then, I suppose I'll keep you two around. If I'm certain of anything, it's that the Digimon Tamer will come back for you two eventually."

"I'm not so sure he will. To be honest, it feels like he kinda forgets we're there," Neemon said quietly. Bokomon wanted to slap his friend for speaking so negatively, but he couldn't disagree with it either. It seemed Tamer's escape plan didn't involve bringing the two of them along with the digidestined.

Zoe listened to Whamon explain his story to the digidestined - he'd been swimming in the ocean and eating kelp, quietly minding his own business when a crack appeared in front of him. He swam closer to get a better look when it suddenly grew in size. In a panic, he tried to swim away only to find himself pulled into it as it grew. And that was when he found himself in this dark cave with the digidestined on top of his head. She stared around the dark cave illuminated only by the soft light of Lobomon's glowing sword. The cave was small for a digimon the size of Whamon, and they could really only see what parts of his body were lit up above the surface of the water. There was something chilling about not knowing just how large Whamon was or how much of his body was concealed by the darkness of the depths below. And from the depths far below, it felt like something was looking back up at her.

"Hey, you alright Zoe? You're spacing out," JP asked with a tap on her shoulder.

Zoe stepped away from the edge of Whamon's head, trying her best not to think about what she wasn't seeing deep in the darkness of the water, "Yes. I'm fine. Just…dizzy."

"Thalassophobia. Fear of deep water. It's best to stop looking at it if it becomes too much," Tamer said, interjecting himself into the conversation.

"I got that, thanks," Zoe answered quickly, turning away from the water to return her attention to Tamer. That explanation was a little uneasy for her though. It wasn't the depths of the water that bothered her. It was…almost like she could feel something staring back up at her from down there. He still hadn't explained what they'd just went through. "So…care to fill us in? What the hell was that!?"

"Whamon?" Tamer tilted his head, pointing at the digimon directly beneath their feet.

"WILL YOU GET OFF MY HEAD ALREADY! I'M ABOUT TO DIVE UNDER THE WATER JUST TO GET YOU KIDS OFF!" Whamon snapped at them angrily, shaking violently as he raised his voice at them.

"Whamon, wait! Hear me out! You're stuck here in this cave and we can't swim! So, how about we help each other? If you give us a ride to dry land, we'll help you get out of this cave. Deal?" Tamer said quick.

"You help me? Please! You can't even help yourselves!" Whamon laughed at them.

"And if you were able to leave of you own volition, you would've done so by now. Face it - we have a way out and you need one! So let's help each other out! It's not like you have anything to lose," Tamer reasoned calmly. Zoe was never sure how Tamer could stay so calm in so many of these situations, but she was glad she was able to during times like these because it meant someone wasn't panicking and coming up with a plan.

Whamon grumbled for a few moments as he mulled over Tamer's proposition until he finally answered, "Fine. What do we do to get out of here?"

Lobomon hissed at Tamer, "Yes, Tamer. How do we get out of here?"

"The same way we got in here. We teleport out using the digivice," Tamer whispered back nervously. "But we have the same problem as last time. I have no idea where we're going to end up."

"Are you crazy!? You want to do that again?" Tomoki asked.

"For what it's worth, wherever we end up can't be any worse than here," Tamer gestured around them to the small enclosed cave.

"And what if we don't end up in the water? What do we do about Whamon then!?" JP asked nervously.

"What was that?" Whamon asked.

"NOTHING!" Tamer said quickly to no one's assurances. He raised up his digivice and pressed a button, "DIGIPORT OPEN!"

Before any of them could raise their voice in protest, the digivice came to life with a bright flash of light and they found themselves transported away into another free fall. Thankfully, this one wasn't nearly as long as the last one as Zoe found herself falling straight down into the water. And also like last time, something from underneath started to rise out of the water to lift her out of its depths. She tried to take in her surroundings but she was blinded from the instant transition from pitch blackness to light. But she could feel it was the sun just from the heat of it on her skin.

Zoe raised her hand up to block out the light and squinted until her eyes got used to being back out in the sun. Her ears could make out the sound of waves and water, as well as the sound of seagulls calling out as they flew around. Once her eyes adjusted, she could make out that they were all on top of Whamon who was floating gently. He sighed, "Ah! To be free and able stretch myself again!"

Now that she could see how big Whamon actually was, she wondered just how deep the water in the cave had actually been when he was in there.

"Will you stop doing that!?" JP asked of Tamer.

"Yeah, I kinda don't like the fact that we keep falling," Tomoki added sheepishly.

"I'm not doing it on purpose," Tamer apologized sheepishly as she went on to help them stand up.

"We all heard you shout 'Digiport Open'!" JP groaned, massaging his back in pain.

"I meant the falling part. I swear, I was a lot better at this," Tamer clarified, turning his attention to big whale underneath them. "Deal's a deal, right? So how about that ride?"

Zoe heard Whamon take a deep breath and shoot out a blast of water from his spout. "You got me out like you promised, I'll take you to the nearest island. You're on your own from there."

"Thank you," Tamer gave a happy thumbs up first. "Settle in everyone, because we're going to be stuck here for a while."

"Ugh, so I hate to be the one to bring down the mood, but what about Neemon and Bokomon?" Tomoki asked quietly. The silence was deafening and Tamer's face sank down into an alarmed horror. Zoe hadn't thought about it because of how much had happened in such a short amount of time but they had left Bokomon and Neemon back at the camp.

"We've got to go back for them!" Zoe declared

"How? We don't even know where we are," Lobomon pointed out. "How about we focus on getting to dry land and then we worry about getting back to them."

Zoe hated it, but Lobomon was right. All she could do was hope they were SAFE and not in any kind of trouble with the digimon from Cherubimon's army. Hopefully Terriermon and the other digimon weren't subjecting them to some kind of torture or horrible treatment. She rubbed her arm guiltily, hating the inability to help them. Lobomon then turned on Tamer and added, "And don't forget you still owe us an explanation. What the hell was all that back there? What were all those cracks and why did you not want us to get to close to them?"

Tamer remained silent, his attention still on the fact that Neemon and Bokomon weren't with them. He appeared to be muttering something angrily under his breath but it was hard to actually make out anything. This annoyed Lobomon who marched forward and snapped his fingers in front of Tamer, "Hey! I'm talking to you!"

"Hm?" Tamer looked up, looking like he'd been pulled out of a very important train of thought.

"I was asking about the cracks," Lobomon said.

Tamer straightened out his jacket and looked at Lobomon bitterly, "Those cracks were cracks in reality. Do you remember how Grumblemon stole the date of the Digital World and punched a hole in the Digital World? Well, that's what you did but with reality."

"Okay…how? It's not like I did anything," Lobomon answered.

"But you did. Destiny is a fickle thing. Doing anything that jeopardizes that is like taking a hammer to a glass window pane. And you were about to play nice with someone you're not supposed to," Tamer pointed out.

"That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard," Lobomon folded his arms disapprovingly.

"Yeah, that's all a little farfetched. I mean, so us getting captured by Cherubimon isn't a big deal but Koji goes to talk to them and reality starts to fall apart?" JP asked questioningly.

"Big things are more consequential than little things. But little things do add up over time. The more that add up, the worse it eventually gets. Like dropping rocks onto a sheet of glass. Eventually, it breaks under the weight," Tamer explained quickly. "I hope this is making sense but I get it if it doesn't because this analogy is very esoteric."

"Oh come on! How is it that of all the things we do, that's the one that causes all those cracks to appear!?" JP asked in frustration. Zoe had to agree that it all sounded very farfetched and she was pretty sure he was making it all up as he spoke.

"If that were true, wouldn't anything we do be breaking reality?" Zoe asked.

"Not if it's something inconsequential. What you eat for breakfast, whether you take a shower, seeing a movie or not. But something big like meeting your true love, missing an important phone call, getting on a train to another world…that has consequences," Tamer answered happily. Zoe scratched her head now, because that all sounded like the same thing. Besides how was anyone supposed to tell which was important and which wasn't? And if-

"Look, it's best if you don't worry about any of it. Really, life is more comfortable if you don't know what's coming and just do whatever comes naturally. And definitely don't do anything stupid," Tamer said warningly towards Lobomon who's eyes narrowed bitterly at the accusation.

"I was doing what came naturally," Lobomon snarked, smirking as if he'd caught Tamer in a gotcha moment.

"And it was very stupid," Tamer fired back, wiping any smile off of Koji's face.

"Yeah, sure. And how are we supposed to tell if something is very stupid or not?" JP snarked while making air quotes.

Tamer smiled, "You already know your destiny. Or at least have a vague idea of it. Gatomon told it to you at her castle, remember? Or do I need to remind you? When two worlds become one and war spreads through the land, A light will rise from the dark and spur conflict between the three. The Chosen Children will call upon the power of the Guardians, Light will become one with Dark, The Beast who can balance both will destroy the World, And a miracle will occur."

"Yeah, because the problem was we didn't know the prophecy," Lobomon remarked.

"I mean, what exactly does that tell us?" Tomoki asked, "And if we're supposed to stop this fighting, wouldn't it make sense to talk to everyone and get them to stop?"

"I…as much as I would like that, that's not how it's supposed to shake out," Tamer replied quietly.

"Oh really? Then why didn't the prophecy tell us what we're supposed to do instead of all this vagueness? This is that stupid conversation we had back at the castle all over again. How are we supposed to know what we are and aren't supposed to do?" JP grumbled, crossing his arms angrily as he listened to everything that was being said. It was times like this she was glad that JP could actually say what she wanted to say, but she was also annoyed that JP had to be the one to do it because she couldn't. Especially since it seemed the list of things they could and couldn't do seemed to be getting smaller by the day.

"So what do we do?" Zoe asked.

"The same thing we've been doing. Find the rest of the Guardian Spirits," Tamer replied quietly. That was hardly encouraging to listen too.

"Sorry for listening in, but the way you kids are talking makes it sound like you're the digidestined," Whamon asked quietly.

"That's because we are," JP answered happily, until Tamer elbowed him and mumbled about how they weren't supposed to advertise that.

"Well crap, I guess I better hurry then," Whamon said, urging forward with a sudden burst of speed.

"Oh cool! Are you helping us?" Tomoki asked excitedly, relieved to see someone coming to help for the first time in a while.

"No. I want nothing to do you with you digidestined. The sooner I get away from you, the better off I'll be," Whamon said quickly. Of course, as soon as he said that, a pillar of water rose above the water's surface beside them and threatened to nearly throw them off Whamon's head.

"There you are, digidestined! You may have injured Duskmon, but I can't abide you running away to my ocean! Oh, what will my fans think to see you all trespassing on my lovely home!?" said an aquatic fish digimon standing atop the pillar.

"Um…who is that?" Whamon asked.

"We met her a few days ago and she attacked us. I think her name was…Ra…something?" JP paused as he tried to remember her name.

"I think it was Rainmon?" Tomoki scratched his head as he tried to remember.

Zoe had to admit, she was at a complete loss to who this digimon was as well, but that's because she wasn't really listening to her name when she last attacked them. She wracked her brain for something but could only come up with "Renamon?"

"I think Renamon was the fox," Lobomon scratched his head.

"It's Ranamon! The Idol of the Sea!" the aquatic digimon snapped at them. They all collectively went 'oh' except for Whamon who was more annoyed at her presence.

"Whatever this is, can it wait until after I drop these kids off so that I don't have to deal with your crap too? I want to be as uninvolved in this war as possible!" Whamon protested. Ranamon ignored his requesr though and shot a blast of water straight at the digidestined. There was just enough time for everyone to dodge out of the way of the first attacks but that did nothing to deter the continued onslaught. She got a few more attacks out before Lobomon had enough and charged forward with both of his swords drawn to start slicing the blasts of water in half.

"Everyone! Spirit Evolve!" Lobomon shouted at them.

"Don't gotta tell me twice!" JP shouted back, leading the others in raising up their digivices and triggering the Spirit Evolution. Once everyone had transformed, Kazemon quickly soared into the air while Kumamon used his ice to start freezing the water under Ranamon's pillar.

Unfortunately, his ice was melting as quickly as it appeared and really only served to make Whamon shiver from the frost. Kumamon groaned, "Why isn't it working?"

"We're in the ocean. This is all salt water. You've gotta get a lot colder than that if you want to start freezing it!" Ranamon stuck out her tongue at them.

"Then how about we boil you!" Agunimon roared, punching a blast of fire straight at the base of the pillar. On impact, the water boiled away to steam that rose straight up. But Ranamon leapt off the pillar towards Agunimon.

"Please! What part of this is the ocean aren't you getting? Make all the fire you want and I'll just put it out! This is my stage! Here, I'm not just an idol! I AM THE QUEEN!" she shrieked in delight. "Whipping Waves!"

She spun around in the air and delivered a decisive kick straight into Agunimon's stomach - knocking him off Whamon's back and sending several harpoons of water after him.

"Agunimon!" Kazemon dove into the water after him before he was lost to the waves.

"You'll pay for that!" Lobomon cursed, charging at Ranamon from behind to strike her from behind. But just before his blade could strike her back, Ranamon sidestepped the attack.

"You shouldn't announce yourself like that if you're going to attack me," Ranamon said, grabbing his arm as he ran past and striking his elbow so that his arm bent the wrong way. Lobomon screamed in agony as his injured arm dropped the glowing sword, pulling away to hold it.

With her attention now on Lobomon, Kumamon and Beetlemon saw their opening to land their own attacks on the digimon from the sides.

"ICICLE PUNCH!"

"LIGHTNING BLITZ!"

Lightning arced from Beetlemon's horn and ice stretched out from Kumamon's fist, arcing along Whamon's back towards Ranamon. And as gracefully as she kicked Agunimon into the water, she leapt backwards off of Whamon and did a backflip into the water. But what their attacks failed to do to Ranamon, caused a great deal of pain to Whamon who cried out.

"STOP THAT YOU IDIOTS! YOU'RE HITTING-" Whamon was stopped by the sudden eruption of bile and vomit from his mouth. It smelled like foul rotten fish and was whipped into a disgusting foam by the waves of the water.

"Are you alright!?" Beetlemon asked sheepishly.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK!?" Whamon burped out angrily.

"Sorry," Kumamon replied sheepishly.

By then, Kazemon returned with Agunimon in her arms - dropping him atop Whamon's head before landing beside him. As soon as they set down, Ranamon leapt back out of the water and landed beside them, "EW! IS THAT HOW YOU'RE GOING TO KEEP ME OUT OF THE WATER!? BECAUSE IT'S WORKING YOU DISGUSTING PIGS!"

"That wasn't on purpose!" Kumamon protested sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head while Ranamon shook off the remaining muck.

"It felt pretty on purpose to me," Whamon grumbled quietly.

"I'm just glad to not be in that digimon's gullet anymore," a voice echoed inside Beetlemon's head.

"Huh?" Beetlemon turned in the direction of the noise to see a small glimmer of light floating around in the foamy bile.

"What is that?" Beetlemon's eyes narrowed upon the glimmer of light.

"What's what?" Kumamon asked, standing beside him and staring at the same flickering light. "Wait, is that a Guardian Spirit!?"

"I prefer to go by MetalKabuterimon, thank you. Guardian Spirit has always been too formal of a title for me," the voice said again, echoing inside his head.

"A Guardian Spirit! It's mine!" Ranamon shouted, rushing to dive towards it. But she stopped once she noticed it was mixed in with Whamon's vomit and wretched, vomiting over the side of Whamon's massive head to the whale's anger.

"WILL YOU ALL STOP SHOOTING THINGS AT ME!?" he roared in anger.

"How can I not when I have to smell your bile. Why was the Guardian Spirit in your stomach anyway!?" Ranamon complained.

"How should I know? It's not like I wanted to eat it! It was probably in some of the kelp that I like to eat," Whamon grumbled.

"Probably? So you didn't notice? How can you eat the Guardian Spirit without noticing?" Ranamon asked with increasing frustration.

"She talks too much. Can we fast forward to the point where whichever one of you is my chosen Child inherits my power?" MetalKabuterimon's voice echoed.

Beetlemon quietly raised his hand into the air, "Um…I think that'd be me."

"Good, prepare to inherit my power," MetalKabuterimon's voice echoed inside of Beetlemon's head. The shimmering light rose out of the bile and muck, dripping in frothy slime that oozed off of it.

"Any chance you can clean yourself up first?" Beetlemon remarked as he felt something churning in his stomach and slowly crawling its way up his esophagus. The awful smell of the bile oozing off it didn't help either. Beetlemon wanted to protest, but it was too late as the light soared through the air and into his body - swallowing him in a blinding white light.

"Beetlemon! Slide Evolution! MetalKabuterimon!"

He came out of the glowing light adorned in the same blue armor he had before, but with machine guns mounted onto his arms. And his legs were replaced with tank treads with clamps that could depress into the ground to hold himself in place if he needed to fire his weapons.

"Whoa! Cool!" Kumamon said excitedly of MetalKabuterimon form. "You're like a tank!"

"And you're as heavy as one," Whamon complained from underneath them. MetalKabuterimon would've enjoyed the compliment if it weren't for the smell that accompanied the new form he'd had. Because right now, all he could smell was the vomit that had been coating the Guardian Spirit's light.

"Well excuse me. It wasn't my decision to be eaten or projectile vomited out the way I came in," the voice echoed inside his head.

He wanted to complain when he heard Beetlemon's voice interrupt them, "Will you two quit it? Ranamon is still right there and she's still trying to kill us all!"

MetalKabuterimon turned towards Ranamon who was stepping away with her hand over her mouth, "Ew! Get away from me you freak! You smell disgusting!"

Without even thinking, MetalKabuterimon fired a laser out of the horn on his head towards Ranamon who dove out of its way in a panic, "AAH! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT YOU CREEP!? WHAT KINDA GIRL DO YOU TAKE ME FOR!?"

"A nuisance," Agunimon said quietly.

"A bimbo," Kazemon remarked.

"A mermaid," Kumamon added quietly. Now that Kumamon had said it, Ranamon did have a kind of mermaid beauty to her appearance. In fact, he was fairly certain that she had blue skin instead of scales. And the way the light shimmered off her wet form highlighted her more feminine features. And that was when the horn on his head shot out another beam of light.

Ranamon leapt out of the way in protest, "STOP SHOOTING AT ME!"

"I can't help it! I'm not even sure how I'm doing that!" MetalKabuterimon shouted back.

"Oh yeah? Then how about I shoot at you!" Ranamon protested, summoning a portal of water out from the bottom of the ground and firing them towards MetalKabuterimon.

"Dig in!" the Guardian Spirit's voice said in his head, and the clamps shot out of sides of MetalKabuterimon's treads. They clamped down onto Whamon's back just as the blast of water struck MetalKabuterimon. The clamps did their job and held him place as the water tired its hardest to knock him off of Whamon. This time, he actually tried to launch an attack back at Ranamon and raised up his arm cannons upon the digimon. "Ultimate Thunder!"

BRRRR!

The machine guns on his arm spun up and fired an endless stream of bullets upon Ranamon who dove backwards back into the water. MetalKabuterimon stopped firing his weapon as Ranamon rose out of the water to curse them. "Okay, forget this! You digidestined are disgusting and vile and I don't want to be here anymore! I'm out of here."

And with that, Ranamon dove back down into the water and disappeared beneath the waves. They waited a moment longer to make sure Ranamon was gone before finally taking a moment to breath a sigh of relief. JP was glad to regress back to his plain old self and sank back down onto the ground, taking a long deep breath of salty air that wasn't filled with the unwanted stink of vomit.

"That was awesome JP!" Tomoki said excitedly, "You turn into a tank!"

"Yeah, I guess it was," JP answered sheepishly, looking down at his digivice in surprise. JP's attention towards Zoe who was beside Koji and chastising him over his arm.

"It's fine," he said, holding it close and massaging it. Now that JP could get a better look at it, he noticed Koji's arm was hanging limply and looked to be bent backwards at the elbow. Despite that, he refused to let her look at it and insisted it wasn't that bad.

"No it's not! Look at what she did to your elbow! You're hurt!" Zoe reprimanded him.

"I said, it's fine," Koji said, turning away from her with his eyes winced in pain as he tried to bend it back into the correct direction. Despite his protests, Tamer marched towards while taking his gloves off. He pulled on Koji's arm and rolled up his jacket sleeve, making the boy yelp in agony. "AARGH! DAMMIT!"

"Tamer! What the hell!?" Zoe said to him.

"I'm healing it," Tamer said, snapping his fingers so that his right hand came aglow with light. He pulled Koji's arm closer and laid his hand over the elbow. "Now stop trying to act tough and let me do what I need to do."

The glowing yellow light wrapped around Koji's arm and his elbow slowly started bending itself back into the correct angle. Once he was done, Tamer retracted his hand and snapped his fingers again to make the light go away. "There, all better?"

Koji pulled his arm free of Tamer and exercised it briefly, moving it around for any sign of pain before remarking, "Actually, it's doing fine."

"How did you do that?" Zoe asked, raising an eyebrow at the boy.

"I accelerated his healing by transferring some of my life to him. Like jumpstarting a car. It costs me a couple of weeks of my own life. Worse case scenario is it'll mess me up later on so I'd like to not make a habit of using it," Tamer replied quietly.

Bokomon and Neemon were escorted to a tent, where their bonds were quickly undone by the robot and fox Digimon. The fox dropped the ropes, "I'm sorry for having to tie you up but we had to be sure you weren't going to endanger Lopmon."

"Do we look like we're any kind of danger to her?" Bokomon asked.

"With Tamer? We couldn't take any chances," the fox Digimon said apologetically. "You can rest here for now. You have our word that you'll be taken care of while you're here. Let us know if you need anything."

"It'd be nice to be allowed to leave," Neemon reasoned, earning a soft chuckle from Renamon.

"Cute," she said quietly as she closed the tent flap behind her. Despite being alone, they could see her shadow just on the other side of the flap meaning she was standing guard just outside.

"What do we do now?" Neemon asked sheepishly.

"We think of a way out of here," Bokomon declared quietly, beginning to pace the tent nervously. Despite his intentions, it was obvious he was far from prepared to actually escape this place.

"You could always read your book at them until they fall asleep," Neemon suggested to Bokomon's annoyance.

"I'll thank you to not mock my literacy," Bokomon retorted the yellow rabbit. Before Neemon could fire back, a hole opened up in the ground and a small rock Digimon poked its head out at them.

"Oh good, I got the right tent," it said quietly, before turning towards Bokomon and Neemon. He beckoned for them to come closer and whispered, "You two want out, right?"

"Yes, but who are you?" Neemon asked, surprised at the audacity of this d igimon to just sneak in like this.

"Gotsumon. I was with the digidestined when they got the beast spirit of light," the Gotsumon said quietly.

"Okay, and why are you helping us?" Bokomon asked nervously.

"Word is you two got arrested as soon as the digidestined hightailed it out of here. And that you got arrested just for knowing them. I figured they helped save the camp so the least I could do was break you out before I get going too," Gotsumon said nervously.

"But why would they arrest you?" Neemon asked.

"You guys got arrested for hanging around them. I don't want to think about what'll happen to me for talking to them. Now do you want out or not?" Gotsumon hissed at them. Bokomon and Neemon exchanged worried glances, both knowing what they wanted to do but neither sure if they could trust Gotsumon. But there was no time to debate this if they wanted to get out. Without much hesitation, the two Digimon hurried towards the gap in the tent and rushed out.

Author's Notes: Bokomon and Neemon make their grand escape, but where will they go? Will the digidestined managed to reunite with them? And where have Crusadermon and Dynasmon gone? Find out all this and more in the next chapter of The Tamer v3.0 - Bold New Frontier, due out in six weeks on Friday May 13th at 8 PM CDT. Let me know what you guys thought in the reviews section. And don't forget to follow the story to keep up with all the latest updates and to favorite to show support. That's all for now. No preview this time either because I've been busy with a little side project that I hope to get out and ready to you guys soon. A while back, I talked about Digimon Adventure Tri but I was never really sure on if I should do it because I couldn't think of a way to make fit into the wider Tamerverse fic I've been working on. Until now, where I'm happy to say that I'm working The Tamer v1.3. I hope that has you all excited for it because it will come out along side v3.0 but as a shorter fic with a series of longer chapters. That's all for now! This is Leonardo1123581321 signing out!
