Hanna opened her eyes slowly to her dad stroking her hair gently. "Hey sweetheart it's time to get up" Gaius said now as he kissed her forehead.

"But it's so early daddy!" she whined playfully as she sat up, opening one eye to see her amused father sitting next to her.

"Oh how I wish I had you when you were younger. I would have my innocent girl forever and I wouldn't have to chase Quintus off with a stick everyday."

"Hey I'm standing right here!" Quintus said as he leaned in the doorway with a bowl of olives.

"Olives for breakfast?" Hanna asked, glancing over at Quintus before hugging her dad, who looked over at Quintus annoyed.

The two were always going at it when they were in the same house. Ranks were forgotten and the two men always were going on about something. Hanna swore that her dad needed a new woman in his life. It had only been one day, but she prayed for that for him.

"I'll go make you two some breakfast after I get changed, now take the arguing outside my room please. This is a no argument zone in here!"

It was like taking care of two children who were really grown men and the 18-year-old didn't know what else she could do. Matthew was never this complicated. She only hoped that he was doing alright with Maya.

Gaius kissed her head and walked out the door, pulling Quintus with him. "Wait til she's decent Quintus. And honey you forget that you have servants now that make us breakfast."

"Okay I forgot. But seriously eat some real breakfast Quintus!" she called out after him, smiling as she walked over and shut her bedroom door.

Hanna shook her head now as she walked to her closet and picked out the closest dress she could find, putting it on along with a simple necklace. She quickly did her make up and brushed her naturally straight dark hair. She had no time to curl it now when the two men in her life were fighting like children. She left her shoes off for now and walked down the stairs and into the dining room.

She assumed that her father's sudden behavior towards Quintus was fear that his little girl would be taken away from him too soon and if so, she needed to take care of that.

"Okay first order of business" she said, hugging her dad from behind, kissing his cheek, smiling.

"And second order of business." She sat down by Quintus and kissed him softly, taking his face in her hands.

"Darling you're going to ruin my appetite" Gaius teased as his daughter laughed and took a bite of bread.

"Doesn't he have a home to go to Hanna?" he asked a little annoyed that the love of his daughter's life was hanging around so much. "He can have breakfast there."

"It starts..." Hanna rolled her eyes a little playfully now as she sipped on some water. "Daddy he won't be here forever!"

"Yes well I for one want some quality time with my daughter and I can't do that if he's hanging around all the time."

"I tell you what. How about we make tonight a daddy daughter date night and Quintus can do things at his home" Hanna said, looking over at Quintus as she took his hand gently, letting him know she still loved him.

Gaius smiled and looked at Quintus who smirked and kissed Hanna once more before getting up. "I have to get to work anyway. Don't forget we have a meeting in two hours Gaius" he said, tossing the rest of his egg to Ben.

"You're going to make my dog fat!" Hanna protested playfully as Quintus kissed her head.

"You love me anyway."

"You're lucky that I do!"

Gaius shook his head and looked over at Hanna seriously once Quintus was gone. "Seriously Han. This is our home. You and Quintus are not married yet or engaged for that matter. You're better now and he can't just stay here whenever he wants."

"I understand dad" Hanna said seriously now as she looked over at him.

"Now about this daddy daughter date night. I was thinking we could decorate you're room a bit like we talked about."

Hanna squeaked and ran around to her dad, hugging him tightly, laughing as he stood and picked her up in his arms, spinning her around.

"Daddy!" she squealed as he kissed her cheek, setting her down gently.

"I'll see you tonight" he said, grabbing his sword as he walked towards the door. "Remember the rules Hanna. I love you"

"I love you too."

She thought for a minute before rushing out the door, grabbing his arm. "Daddy?"

He looked down at her curiously now. "Han what is it?"

"You know you're number one right?" she asked softly as she gazed into his eyes, her hair blowing in the wind a little.

Gaius sighed and pulled his daughter into his arms, stroking her hair as she buried her face in his chest.

"Sweetheart of course I do! I know you love me just as much as you love Quintus" He looked down at her, kissing her forehead.

"Try not to argue with eachother anymore then? You all sound like kids."

"I'll try sweetheart. I just don't want you getting hurt in any way."

Hanna nodded as he placed a kiss on her head. "You'll always be my little girl."

Maya snuggled into her blanket more as she felt someone kissing her cheek and stroking her hair.

"Abba?" she asked, still a little out of it from the night before.

"No silly it's me" Matthew said as he sat down next to her as she sat up in bed, the blanket still around her. The headaches made her cold also, which was a mystery to her.

"I thought we could spend some time before I go off to run errands with the others" he said, kissing her gently. "Are you hungry or are you still a little queasy?"

"I think I can stomach something light" she said taking Matthew's hand as he led her outside into the fresh air. "Where is Abba?"

"He took a walk" Matthew said as they walked into the cooking area. "Told me to watch out for you until he comes back."

Maya smiled happily and kissed Matthew once more, wrapping her arms around his waist, smiling against his lips.

"You know I can't make you breakfast if we're kissing" he said, chuckling as he lifted her up onto the counter, his hands moving through her hair. He seemed to be enjoying it regardless.

They continued kissing for a few more minutes until they heard footsteps, pulling away reluctantly. Matthew got to work making some eggs for Maya and she just sat there swinging her legs back and forth. Kafni walked in and smiled at the two before sitting down.

"Have you seen you're father?" he asked Maya with a gentle smile. He liked that Ramah had a friend that was her age now.

'"He went for a walk. He should be back soon!"

Maya was alot more chipper that morning and a little more energized than she had been the day before. She only hoped it would stay that way.

A few minutes later, Matthew finished making his and Maya's breakfast and helped her down from off the counter, making her laugh as she held onto his shoulders, gazing into his eyes. Ramah walked in just then and smiled.

Anybody except Simon who saw Maya and Matthew could tell instantly that the two were a perfect match.

"Hello Maya!" she chirped happily. "Are you feeling better?"

"Yes much better. Thank you Ramah. I'm sorry that must have been a weird first impression" she said, blushing a little, embarrassed.

"Oh no don't worry about it" she said as she started to make her father some porridge.

"I know chronic headaches like that are bad and made even worse by stress."

Matthew pulled Maya into his lap gently as the two of them ate their breakfast. "She's had them since we were five" he said, brushing some hair away from Maya's forehead. "No one knows what causes it."

Ramah and Kafni smiled sympathetically now. "Mary told us you're story" Kafni said. "It must have been hard dealing with such a dysfunctional family."

"Yeah my dad is a pretty bad guy. I'm lucky my best friend's dad threw him into jail and I got adopted by a new dad. She's Matthew's sister but she's adopted too."

"Sounds like we have a theme here" Ramah said laughing as Maya nodded.

Just as they all were finishing their breakfast, Jesus came walking in, going straight for his daughter as she jumped out of Matthew's lap, running into his arms. He lifted her up and spun her around, making her laugh as he did so. "How are you feeling?" he whispered into her hair, setting her down before kissing her forehead.

"Better" she said softly as she looked up at him happily.

Jesus smiled and kissed the side of her head gently. "Why don't you stay with Matthew and Ramah while I talk to her father."

Maya nodded and kissed his cheek softly before going back to Matthew and her new friend. Matthew pulled her back into his lap, kissing her cheek and her lips gently.

Ramah smiled at the two. "Thomas and I are like that sometimes" she softly once her father was out of earshot. "When Abba isn't looking."

Both girls giggled now, smiling at eachother. "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!" Maya said grinning.

"And Matthew and Thomas are always counting as well" Ramah said laughing as Maya rolled her eyes playfully, looking up at Matthew.

"Yeah I had to take this one's calculator away yesterday because he was annoying everybody."

"Someone has to take the ministry into consideration" Matthew said, defending himself as Maya pulled him down for another kiss, taking his face into her hands.

"Yes but you don't have to think that hard" she said, giggling as he kissed the side of her face now.

"I've told the same to Thomas" Ramah said rolling her eyes. "But I haven't really gotten anywhere with it.

Just then Ramah's father walked in and smiled at her. "I need to talk to you alone sweetheart" he said.

Maya and Matthew took the hint, walking towards Jesus, who looked a little teary eyed, making Maya wonder what was wrong. "Matthew why don't you go join the others and you..." he said motioning to his daughter with his hand. "Get into these arms little lamb."

Maya kissed Matthew once more before hugging her father tightly, hiding her face in his chest as he leaned down and kissed her cheek, his beard tickling her a little as she giggled.

Once Matthew was gone, her father led them over to a bench and sat down pulling her close to him. "Now...You and I have the whole day together! What do you want to do?"

Maya thought for a moment before kissing his cheek. "Just rest and talk" she said yawning, still a little tired.

Jesus smiled and pushed her hair out of her face now as it was a bit windy. "I think that sounds like a wonderful idea" he said rubbing his hand up and down her arm to warm her up.

"You feel cold" he said as he draped his purple vest over her.

"Yeah that's the headache" Maya said as she looked up at him now. "It makes me cold" she said as she turned and draped her legs over his, leaning into his chest.

Jesus rubbed her knees gently, kissing her cheek as he did so.

"My beautiful child" he whispered into her hair, brushing it out of her face. "You are so precious."

Maya smiled, taking one of her father's hands. "And you are the best dad a girl could ever ask for!"

Jesus took Maya's face into his hands gently, kissing her forehead. "My little lamb..."

Maya smiled and closed her eyes, leaning into her father's arms more. They sat there in silence for a long time. Just enjoying the time they had together. But it wasn't long until Maya broke the silence.

"Abba? Why did you look like you were about to cry when I came up to you earlier?" she asked gently, gazing up at him as she kissed his cheek.

Jesus looked down at Maya now, his fingers running through her curls gently, getting some of the tangles out. He didn't know what to say to her. He didn't know what he could say that wouldn't make her upset. He just knew that he only had a few years with his little girl and then he would be gone. He only hoped that she would have a beautiful marriage with Matthew and parents in Simon and Eden. That is if Simon ever stopped acting so angry like he was at the moment.

But Jesus reminded himself that he was still alive for now and that he was Maya's parent. He was her father and he would take care of her for as long as he could.

"It's nothing you need to worry about Maya" he said finally, pulling her as close as he possibly could.

Maya nodded and placed her cheek against her father's chest, her arms wrapping around his waist. There had to be a reason why he had been crying, but she just let it go for now. He would tell her in due time.

Faith had been walking for awhile, thinking. Her head had been up in the clouds since she and Gaius had met the day before. He was so loving towards her that she still couldn't believe that she had fallen for him. She felt a hand take her wrist gently once more, pulling her into the same secluded corner that she and Gaius had been in not so long ago.

"Okay I knew that was you, but how long are we going to hide like this in the same location?" she asked him curiously as she gazed into his eyes.

Gaius smiled and pulled her forward a little, so their chests were touching. "Not much longer" he said softly. "My divorce gets finalized today."

"But that's so soon!" Faith exclaimed now as she gazed up at him.

"Oh believe me I know" he said, placing his hand on her cheek. "I was wondering if you and I...could have dinner tomorrow night."

Faith smiled and pretended to think for a moment. "Umm..."

Gaius laughed and pulled her in for a kiss. Their first kiss and it felt wonderful. Faith wrapped her arms around his neck, her hands tangling themselves in his cloak. The kiss seeemd to last forever and as Gaius pulled away, she smiled dreamily up at him.

"I'm going to take it that you're cute smile means yes?"

"You can already read me like a book!" she exclaimed as he ran his hands down her cheeks as she scrunched up her nose playfully.

"Do not make me tickle you Faith" he said, laughing a bit. She was so cute when she was acting like this and it melted his heart.

"Yeah so what if I do make you?" she asked, gazing into his eyes, daring him to do so.

She turned to walk away casually before he pulled her against him, tickling her sides. "You asked for it!" he exclaimed now as she laughed happily, squirming in his arms.

"Gaius!" she squeaked as he kissed her gently, turning her around in his arms.

He placed his forehead on her's, taking her face into her hands as they continued kissing. Never in her life did she think she would be doing all this with a Roman.

"You're beautiful" he murmured against her lips, making her smile and kiss him once more as she placed her hands on his chest.

"I don't ever want to stop doing this now" she said as he kissed her forehead.

"And we don't have to. I think I know how to get Hanna out of the house tomorrow night."

Faith giggled and shook her head. "This wouldn't have to do with a certain Praetor would it?"

"Yeah don't tell him. It might boost his ego" Gaius said laughing into her hair before kissing her head softly.

"I'll pick you up tomorrow night. I don't want you in any danger because our homes are in different places."

Faith smiled and gazed up at him. "My hero" she said softly as he kissed her once more before reluctantly letting her go, her hands sliding down his arms as she took his own hands.

"I'll see you tomorrow night Faith" he said before walking away, making her smile happily as she rushed home to tell Eden.
