The smell of coffee wakes up Dorothy, "coffee great."
"How do you like it?"
"Cream and two sugars." Graham makes it and hands it to her.
"How did you sleep?"
"Ok, did you get me in here?"
"Yes, you were slumped against the console. I didn't think you would want to sleep on the floor. I asked you if you wanted to sleep in Ryan's room, but you said the couch was fine. By the time I got back with blankets and a pillow you were already fast asleep."
"Thank you."
"Anything for a friend."
"Speaking of that, were you serious about helping out Yaz here and there?"
"I am, I want to make sure she takes care of herself."
"Is there anything more?"
"You are becoming one of my friends, and I wouldn't mind spending more time with you."
Dorothy laughs a little bit, "you are also becoming one of my friends. Has Yaz been awake yet?"
"She came in and got a cuppa and some toast."
"Good, now I am going to help, will we be seeing you some time today?"
"Maybe?"
"Good," Dorothy heads out trying not to smile. She walks in to see Yaz moving fast around some documents. "What is going on?"
Yaz turns around, "you're in the same clothes as you were last night."
"We fell asleep in here, and Graham got me inside and I slept on the couch."
"Couch huh?"
"We are just friends, Yaz, like you and Ryan."
"I highly doubt that. Ryan is like a brother to me. Is Graham like a brother to you?" Dorothy's face screws up in disgust thinking of Graham like a brother, "I take that as a no."
"I think of him as a new friend."
"Ok." Yaz not fully believing everything goes back to her work on finding the Doctor.
Around lunchtime Graham pops his head in, "what sounds good to eat?"
"I don't know, Yaz, why don't you decide."
"Whatever Graham decides."
Graham grones, "you two are no help."
"I bet Dorothy can be a good help," with a slight hint of a suggestion in her voice.
"Yaz!"
"Ok, Dorothy, you want to help me in the kitchen." Dorothy exits with Graham. "What was that about?"
"Yaz seems to think we would make a good couple, funny isn't it."
Graham laughs a little, "a little funny." Dorothy looks at Graham and smiles. "What should we make?"
"What all do you have here?"
"Most of what you can imagine."
"Good, get some cheese, noodles and a good protein."
"K?" Graham goes to the fridge and pulls out cheese, "I don't have much protein that doesn't need defrosting."
"That's fine, do you also have some milk I can use?"
"I used it in your coffee this morning."
"Good, I will need it. While I am cooking, do you want to turn on some music?"
"Sure," Graham goes to the radio he keeps in there and turns it on.
'You are listening to BBC Radio 6, this is your host Tom. The next song up is 'Forever' by the Beach Boys, not the version that was popular in the 90s, by John Stamos." Graham sneaks a look at Dorothy who quickly looks away as he does.
"What are you making?"
"Mac and Cheese."
"Tasty."
"I know, I like to make this from time to time." They continue talking at one point Yaz looks out of the TARDIS into the window to see them laughing. She notices that Graham holds out his hand and Dorothy takes it and they dance a little.
"They are going to get together eventually. Those two are just denying everything."
"Here taste this," Dorothy says as she holds out a spoon for him to try.
"That is some of the best mac and cheese I have ever had."
"Thank you."
"No need to thank me. Why don't you go and get Yaz for lunch."
"On it," he smiles at her and leaves to go get Yaz.
"Lunch is ready."
"Before we go in, do you like Dorothy?"
"She's a good friend."
"Anything more, just so you know I saw you two dancing in there a little bit ago."
"She is.."
"You do like her."
"I do, but she doesn't feel the same way."
"I don't think so, though we can talk more about this when you're helping me find the Doctor this week while she is at work."
"Ok," they walk into the house while Dorothy is finishing putting dishes on the small table.
"Meal is on." They dish up Yaz seeing that the other two aren't seeing something brewing between them.
"You two need to admit it."
"Admit what?"
"That you like each other, it is clear as day."
"We." Ryan comes in.
"There are Daleks in London with our old friend Robertson."
"That bastard."
"You know him Dorothy?"
"I do Graham, he is a Toe Rag."
Yaz spits out her food, "a what?"
"Toe Rag."
Graham smiles at her, "I agree."
"You guys better approach him tonight."
"We will, you don't want to come?"
"Let's just he and I have a history; he isn't allowed within 2000 meters of me."
"What did he do?"
"Let's just say it is surprising how he has fooled many people, but you three have fun. Will one of you tell me how it goes?"
"I will."
"Of course you will Graham, anything to get to talk to her right."
"What do you mean Yaz?"
"Let's see they have been talking more, making the other laugh, and I just saw them dancing while they were preparing lunch."
"To what song?"
"I don't know." Dorothy starts to blush thinking of the lyrics.
"Must be a love song with her reaction, right Yaz."
"Ryan, don't start."
"Why Granddad? Afraid of catching feelings."
"I," he looks at Dorothy remembering what they talked about earlier and doesn't finish his sentence.
"Graham," both Yaz and Ryan head out to let them have a small conversation. "Graham what you said earlier about us and agreeing with me that we shouldn't become a couple did you mean that?"
"No, I did not. I already like you Dorothy."
"I like you too; it's just that I have never been good in relationships."
"I have only been in one good one."
"Grace?" Dorothy asks knowing the happy pictures that are on the mantle.
"Yes, with Grace. How about we play it by ear?"
"If one of us wants to slow down, we talk about it."
"We can do that. I am glad Yaz isn't here for the next part, if the Doctor comes back; what should we do?"
"I already had my eventures with them and am done, if you want to continue, we will cross that bridge then."
"Ok."
"Now tonight after you are done with Robertson, instead of calling me, want to come by my place?"
"I can do that," he smiles broadly and Dorothy laughs.
Later that night Graham arrives at Dorothy's as she is putting finishing touches on a table. "Come in Graham." He enters as Sorin goes running across the room.
"Hello Dorothy."
"Are you hungry?"
"Yes, I am."
"Have any issues with him."
"He had better security this time."
Eyes going wide, "you had a gun pulled on you?"
"Yes, there were a few of them."
"Are Yaz and Ryan ok?"
"They are."
"Good, you?"
"Yes, even better now."
"Flattery?"
"Eh, got to try," she laughs.
"You don't have to try, you already make me laugh more than I have in years."
"Glad to hear that, you also make me laugh more than I have been."
Dorothy reaches her hand across the table and holds his hand. "You can tell me anything you want to about Grace."
"Thank you, I appreciate it, I also feel like I'm betraying her for developing feelings for someone else that is beyond friendship."
"I understand."
"I still want to see where this goes," he smiles at her.
"I also want to see where this goes." They sit there in some silence eating after they are finished they head to the couch. "Do you three have a plan to get to see what Robertson is doing with the Daleks?""
"No we are going to figure that out tomorrow, do you want to help out?"
"I can try and help out."
"Good, can't wait."
"Are you just trying to find ways to spend more time with me?"
"Maybe?"
"I like to spend time with you too Graham." They share another smile. Dorothy looks at the time. "You may want to get back before they start to worry about you Graham.
"Ok." He gets up to leave as Dorothy walks him to the door and gives him a hug.
"See you tomorrow."
"Yes, you will." She locks the door and heads to go find Sorin.
"How do you feel about him?"
"Meow?"
"He is a good guy."
"Meow."
"I like him too." The cat brushes up against her. "No need to worry, you will always be my number one guy." Dorothy picks up her cat and starts to pet it.
