So this a retelling of the TV show 'Camp Lazlo' with a few noticeable changes. for one the Name of the Camp in this Story is 'Camp Runnybottom' which is a reference to the original idea by Joe Murray, also in this universe Acorn Flats and the Squirrel Scouts don't exist so all the female campers and staff members work at Runnybottom, with Jane Doe being in charge of Activities and Miss Mucus being the Camp Coach. Lazlo also speaks with a Brazilian accent which also was Murray's original idea. and lastly this fanfiction will lean more into adult Humor. it will mostly follow the episodes, but some will have to be amended as they might not make sense in this universe, now without further ado... Camp Runnybottom.

In woods of Northport Wisconsin, there is a town called Pricky Pines. it is small but it has its few claims to local fame. Beef Lumberjacks, The Local Steakhouse, Mount Whitehead where it seemed to Snow all year round. but this story is about a group of kids that become unlikely friends at a shoddy Summer Camp.

A yellow bus was driving along the lakeside road. it was old, probably from the 60's and showing its age, there was light rust on the outside, the windows were lightly stained and a few of the seats had damage, varying from small cuts to huge gashes.

In the Driver's seat was a Banana Slug wearing a brown shirt and shorts, he adjusted the mirror, looking at the back seat where there sat a young pink elephant about 11. wearing a white shirt and hat. holding a box close to himself, clearly nervous.

"You Boys will Love Camp Runnybottom, it got plenty of-" The slug spoke but stopped when he saw all the other seats were empty, slamming the brakes as the Bus stopped with a loud screech of the old breaks "Where's the other Camper?!"

The Elephant looked at the Slug confused, asking what he meant by other camper. In truth Rajesh Balakrishna was not used to going to a summer camp he came from a very wealthy family and was not used to the concept of 'roughing it'. He did remember another boy at the Train Station where he was picked up.

"Do, you mean the Baggage Boy... I Told him servants had to ride on the roof" Rajesh explained, looking at the slug nervously, acknowledging his mistake. The slug opened one of the Bus Windows, stuck as he jiggled it open. looking up he did in fact see the other boy. an albino Rhino setting on the roof, wearing a greenish blue Hawaiian shirt and a ballcap with a 'C' on it, holding only a toaster. The Slug was quick to tell the Rhino there was a mistake.

The Ride to Camp continued as Rajesh was looking at the Rhino with a grumpy expression on his face. How was Rajesh supposed to know he was a camper and not servant. realizing the rhino probably did not like having to put all of his luggage on the roof.

Raj sought to make amends with the Rhino introducing himself as Rajesh Balakrishna, mentioning his friends called him Raj for short, extending his hand for a handshake which the Rhino declined, grumbling as he sat, holding his toaster. only letting out a hrmph

"I brought my record collection and my record player" Raj replied looking at the Rhino who did not seem interested in making small talk with the Elephant, Raj again apologized for the misunderstanding, asking why The Rhino did not just SAY he wasn't a Baggage Boy. "So, uhh... does your toaster work.

"NO!" The Rhino snapped, clearly getting defensive, holding his only possession as Raj looked at him. telling the Rhinoceros, he was only trying to make amends for the honest mistake. It was clear to Rajesh that the Rhino did not want to be friends and Rajesh was not going to irritate him further, sitting up straight as the rest of the ride was boring. There was no dialogue between the two campers.

"So, uh... either of you boys been camping before?" The Slug asked, introducing himself as Mr. Slinkman, the assistant; it was his job to help the Scoutmaster. Raj thought about the Previous summer. His father had taken him to camp under the night stars. he had rented an acre of land where they set up their tents. just him, his father and his brothers and sisters. it could not be considered 'Roughing it but Raj enjoyed it.

In Truth the Elephant was already starting to miss his family, he wondered why they sent him to an American summer camp, the idea of spending the summer away from his family and home struck a spot in the Elephant's heart.

"How about you Clam, you ever been camping before" Slinkman asked as the Rhino simply huffed. This was the first time Raj had heard Calm's name, finally knowing what to call him. The Rhino chose not to speak. Eventually the Bus rode along as Slinkman pointed out the Window.

"There it is Boys, Camp Runnybottom, your home for the summer" Slinkman said as the two boys looked out the dusty bus window seeing the camp in the distance. Raj took a deep breath as the bus pulled into the Campgrounds, parking.

"Slinkman turned off the bus, telling the boys to get off as they reluctantly did do. Slinkman closed the door manually as he left the bus behind him. Telling the two of them to wait there while he told the Scoutmaster of their arrival, maybe try making friends with all the other campers, before walking off into a big cabin, near the flagpole.

The Two were alone at the bus as Raj looked at Clam, asking what Mr. Slinkman meant by other campers. as if to answer his question a face peered out from behind a flagpole, walking toward the duo as other figures walked alongside him. Boys and Girls of various species approaching the two, all wearing brown shirt and shorts with hostile looks on their face.

"It looks like we have some new blood in Runnybottom" The boy in charge, a platypus stated as they all approached, following behind the boy who despite looking the youngest seemed to be the leader of the scouts.

Raj could swear it vaguely resembled a scene from one of his Bollywood movies, not being surprised if all the kids broke out into song and dance.

"Hey Elephant-boy, stop looking at me like that" The Platypus ordered as Raj closed his eyes, shaking. Clam was seeing this made the Elephant uncomfortable and despite the way he was treated Clam was not a fan of bullying. The Platypus approached Raj, asking what his holding. Raj clenched tightly to the record sleeve he was holding trying to keep it from him.

"It's Okay, I won't touch it" The Platypus promised as another hand yanked it from the elephant.

The hand belonging to an alligator girl as she read the cover "Do you know the Muffin man? sung by the Yodeling Braunschweigers" The gator read as the scouts broke out laughing. Raj claimed it was his grandmothers as the scout laughed even harder.

"Okay that's enough" The Platypus boy called out as the Campers stopped. he looked at the gator who was pulling the black vinyl from its sleeve, balancing it on her finger, suggesting Gretchen mail it to the elephant's grandmother, discus express as Raj pleaded her not to as it was a limited press.

Clam seeing this got right in the gator's face, demanding she give back the record. the Two snarled at each other as Gretchen roughly pushed the record back into the sleeve. slamming it against Raj's chest. walking back to Platypus.

"Edward, I Don't like these guys" she commented as he nodded, looking at her before turning back toward the two new scouts, telling their time was up as the Iron Moose would get his hands on them.

Raj looked at the two, clearly nervous asking what they meant by Iron Moose, Clam just kept taunting the Platypus and Alligator Duo. Gretchen ordered the Rhino to stop before hearing from another scout that HE was coming out. All the Runnybottom Scouts stood in attention saluting the figure who left the big cabin as Slinkman spoke "All Hail, Scoutmaster Lumpus"

The Scouts all saluted as a grown moose exited the cabin, the earth quaking with his steps. the images of all the campers reflected in his mirrored sunglasses, riding crop, tucked under arm as he glanced over the scouts "All Hail Scoutmaster Lumpus, our wise and courageous leader" The scouts said on cue as he walked past them. they seemed to forget the rest, making it up as the praise turned into a garbled unintelligible mess of words. the moose took a deep gasp, his gut sticking out. "THATS ENOUGH!"

"Now Listen well, I Algonquin C. Lumpus run a 'Blemish-FREE Camp. In my 20 years as Scoutmaster, I have upheld a SPOTLESS Record of Order and Regiment" the moose said approaching the Elephant and Rhino, bending the crop in his hands.

In My 20 years we Have Never Had a SINGLE Mishap.

Lumpus had the scouts all quiet as he walked by looking around at the Campers, standing still. seeing the two standing at the Bus.

"And WHAT do we have here?" Lumpus asked, tapping Raj with his crop. Slinkman interjected telling him those were the new Campers, Rajesh Balakrishna and Calm Uduike, reading the names on the clipboard as Lumpus let out a chuckle.

"Clam? no one told me we were getting seafood" Lumpus joked, laughing as the other scouts as if on cue laughed at the joke. the joke was interrupted by a swift kick to the moose's crotch, causing him to writhe on the ground holding his groin and earning a shocked look from all the campers. Lumpus got up, speaking in a high-pitched voice.

"Owww. My Balls...Slinkman, I want that deviant confined to his cabin for a whole month" Lumpus ordered as Slinkman told them that they weren't yet assigned to cabin. Lumpus perked up. deciding to punish the two, telling they they could have the condemned one.

Slinkman made note, telling Lumpus they were expecting a third camper, but he never showed up at the train station. according to the papers he was some sort of monkey. he asked Lumpus if he wanted the Monkey placed there too.

Lumpus honestly hoped the third camper would not show up, claiming that Camp Runnybottom had seen enough 'Monkey Business' to last a lifetime. This was cut off by the sound of a horn as the moose was run over by a truck resembling a giant Banana with the words 'Fruita Quicka' written on the side,

"Give me a fucking break" Lumpus called, as the window lowered, the driver was a bat explaining he had a package for Camp Runnybottom. Slinkman looked at the bat who handed him the clipboard asking for his signature. It all seemed correct but Slinkman mentioned that they never ordered any Fruit.

"I Never said it was Fruit" The bat replied opening the back as a huge wooden crate plopped out. The banana truck drove off.

So, This is the start of the Camp Runnybottom saga. since there is no Bean/Squirrel Scout rivalry I could see Edward and Gretchen being friends and the scouts who basically 'run the camp'
