Time jump:
It all happened so fast. They intercepted the van transporting the drug. Ryan took command in ordering the boys to circle the van. One of them used a fire torch against the front of the van, as a scare tactic to get the officers out. As they tried to escape through the back, they were quickly subdued by the waiting Angelicos. Olivia had been checking the front of the van when shots were fired. Crouching down she sneaked towards the back of the truck to find one of her men up in flames. To her surprise, the Angelico beside her apologized lowly and shot him down. Before she could stop him, he stepped out into the open. He was shot down with a bullet to the leg.
"Hector!" Olivia swung the weapon onto her back and reached for the outstretched bloody hand. "I got you." Hearing a gun click, she looked up to see Amaro pointing a gun at her head. Closing her eyes, she jumped at the shot ringing out.
"Dreamer let's go!" Ryan yelled.
Opening one eye she found Amaro on the ground with a shot to the vest. Hearing him waking up with a groan, she whispered a sorry and slammed the butt of her gun to his head. "Let's get moving!"
In no time they transferred the two pallets of drugs from one van to another using a ramp between the two. Olivia and Ryan helped Hector into the van, before jumping in themselves. The rest of the Angelicos took off with the transport van to lead any cops away from them.
"How far until the checkpoint?" Olivia asked.
"20 mins." Ryan slowed the truck to the speed limit. "If all goes as planned, we will be there in time."
Olivia glanced back at Hector. "How are you doing?"
"It won't stop bleeding." He groaned.
"It hit an artery, just keep pressure to slow the bleeding." Olivia ordered.
Hector cried at the pain shooting up his leg. "I am, but it won't stop bleeding!"
Olivia turned to face the younger man. "Here." Grabbing a knife, she cut a piece of his shirt and grabbed a rod she found in the back of the truck. Tying the strip of the shirt around his leg, she inserted the rod in between the leg and strip, turning it until she noticed the blood stopped. "Keep a hold on that and don't let it get loose. That should hold you until we can get you some help."
"Thank you." He whispered. "But, don't worry about me. First, we worry about getting this to the drop-off and getting Jack back. Then we worry about me."
Olivia glanced at Ryan with a worried look. Even they knew he didn't have much time. Blood seemed to have stopped, but it wouldn't hold for long. Looking down at her phone she frowned at the message she received from Craigen.
C: Where are you?
L: With Barba. Why? You wouldn't break protocol just for a checkup?
C: The convoy carrying Barba's shipment was just hit. Amaro was along the ride.
L: Haven't heard anything on this end. Barba hasn't made a move from his office.
She cringed at remembering it was her that knocked Amaro out. Sending him one last message telling him, she would attempt to find out more on the issue.
"Who are you texting?" Ryan suddenly asked.
Olivia showed him the phone for a brief moment. "My son." That was all she was going to tell him on the subject. Glancing at their injured man, she shook her head at the flowing blood. "Hang in there Hector, we are almost at the warehouse. Less than a mile."
"You still with us?" Ryan jumped in.
Hector groaned with a chuckle. "I ain't seen dead relatives yet."
"Let's keep them far away for the moment." Liv glanced at her side mirror, spotting the two colors she hoped not to see today. "Cops." They had three black and whites trailing behind them. But she noticed something off. "The two dark gray sedans in front are unmarked patrol units."
"GTF." Ryan growled. "One of them must have been in the truck."
"Lose them before heading to the warehouse." Liv muttered.
"I know. I know." Ryan sighed. "Hang in there for just a little longer Hector."
"I'm good man, don't worry about me." Hector groaned at the jolt the truck made.
"Dodger on your side." Olivia spotted the black car pull up to the driver's side. "He's going to pit you."
"I see him." Seeing Hector aim at the car, Ryan pushed the gun down. "No! That my partner." The moment the car tried to slam them on the side, Ryan turned to his left into a dirt road underneath a highway bridge.
Glancing behind them Liv saw the stalled cars. "That should hold them off for a few moments." Looking towards the sky, she cursed. "Put your masks back on"
Ryan frowned. "Why?"
"News choppers." Liv grabbed hers slipping it back on.
Ryan took a right leading them back on the street. It wasn't long before they had an entire fleet on their tail. Liv glanced down at her phone to see a miss call from Elliot.
L: What?
E: Where are you?
L: Why?
E: You told Craigen you were with Barba. I am here and you are not.
L: You checking up on me?
E: Where are you, Olivia?
L: With Allison. Rafael, ask I take her out of the house. Appears something is going down.
"What are you doing? We got to lose these guys!" Hector yelled from the back seat.
"No, we get reckless and they will open fire." Olivia stated.
Ryan tossed her a surprised look. "That's right. We drive at a reasonable speed, they just have to follow us and wait." His phone went off.
"Who's that?" Liv asked.
"It's my captain." Ryan muttered.
Liv waited until he was done with the call before speaking once more. "So you're a cop."
"Yes." He glanced at her from the side of his eye. "And you're a nurse,"
"Among other things." She replied.
"Like?"
Liv chuckled. "Why ask when I am sure you did a full background already?"
"I figure it would be polite to ask anyway."
"Hate to interrupt such interesting conversation, but what now?" Hector popped his head between them. "We still have cops on our asses."
"Lean on the family." Olivia pulled her phone, dialing for Rafael.
Ryan gave her a slight smirk. "When you need a prayer, you call on angels."
'Olivia.'
"We're in trouble Rafael."
'I can see that. It's on every station.'
"We can't make it to the warehouse." Ryan jumped in. "We need to find a new place to drop off the fish scale."
'What did you have in mind?'
"I can detour and be at Amaila in ten minutes."
'We don't have any soldados in that area.' Javier spoke.
'May not have soldados but we have people everywhere. I'll have men standing by.'
Olivia pulled the phone a little closer to her. "Rafael, you need to clear the eyes in the sky."
'How?'
She was already hating her next words. "Have someone fire at the choppers."
'I'll blow those birds out of the sky.' Javier growled.
"No!" Olivia snapped.
'Dream-'
"No casualties Javier. Near misses only."
'But if you want, I can...'
"When fired upon it is mandatory, they land back down." Olivia cut Javier off once more. "Let the protocol do the work for us. No one else needs to die."
'I'm on it.'
Ryan jumped in. "Tio not you. No offense, there's a reason why you use a knife. You're a terrible shot."
'Well, if I'm a terrible shot, then what are you worried about?'
"Your aim is so bad; you might actually hit something." Ryan scoffed.
Rafael's chuckle was heard through the phone. 'He has a point. I'll send some men to the fourth street bridge.'
"Hurry up Rafa." Olivia let out a shaky breath. "We're running out of time."
'I promised you.' Rafael spoke in a tone only reserved for her. 'We'll get you out of there.'
Hector tapped Olivia on the shoulder. "They are pulling back."
"Dammit." Ryan muttered under his breath.
"Isn't that good?" Hector asked.
Sharing a look with Olivia, he shook his head. "No. It means they're going to spike the road."
Spotting the two black and white's parked ahead of them, she chuckled. "They couldn't make it any more obvious?" Gesturing he take a left, they effortlessly dodged the spike road.
"There they are." Ryan pointed a finger at the bridge ahead of them.
Looking up at said bridge she spotted four Angelicos. "Son of a bitch has a rocket launcher." As she spoke those words the rocket was launched. Upon seeing the choppers disperse, Olivia couldn't help but join in with the others as they laughed in celebration. "It worked!"
"I love you, Tio!" Ryan hollered, slapping his hand on the steering wheel. "All right hang on. Now it's time to get rid of the cops."
Ryan took off speeding into oncoming traffic. In his path, he was leaving an obstacle of cars for the following cops. Seeing the turn at the last minute he took it, causing the oncoming cars to stop in haste. Glancing behind them Olivia laughed at seeing them blocked from following them. Ryan pulled up next to a house with a group of Angelicos waiting for them.
"You got 30 seconds!" Olivia yelled from her seat. "Let's go!"
The men worked in haste as they opened the back and linked the chains onto the cargo carts. Ryan drove forward as the Fish scale was pulled out of the truck. As one closed the truck up once more, the others pulled the Fish scale up the driveway and used a van to block it from view as a group of cops flew by. Ryan took a turn into a cul-de-sac although, by the look on his face, he wasn't expecting to hit a dead end.
"We got to get the hell out of here." They all turned to see the fleet of cops turning onto the street. "That tunnel is our way out."
"I can't. My leg." Hector whimpered.
"I'll carry you." Ryan snapped.
Hector chuckled. "Then we both get caught."
Jumping over the middle console, Olivia kneeled beside him. "We are not leaving you behind. Between the two of us, we can carry you out."
"No, you two need to get the hell out of here."
"We're not leaving you." Jumping out of the truck, Ryan opened the side door. "Come on. Let's go."
Olivia glanced through the window to see they were completely boxed in. "We are out of time, move it."
"No." Hector held onto the side of the door. "Just get out of here."
"They're going to see us." Ryan was running out of breath as he began to panic. "We'll never make it."
"No, they're going to see me, not you." Hector pulled his arms off both of them. "Just save yourselves." He turned to Ryan. "I gave you, my word. I won't shoot any cops."
"No." Olivia grabbed his arm ready to drag him if she must. "That is not an option."
"Jefa please." He offered her a soft smile. "I swore to Rafael I would look out for you till the end of this. This is me keeping my word. Don't make me a liar."
"I am not going to have you die because of me." Olivia growled.
Hector chuckled. "Then look at it as me paying for all my sins, let this be the one good thing I do."
"We got to go." Ryan grabbed her by the waist pulling her towards the tunnel. "Go. Run!"
Getting her footing she followed him, only to freeze at hearing Elliot's voice ordering Hector to put his gun down. She jumped at hearing the guns go off, then there was nothing. Glancing over at Ryan she shook her head. This wasn't the way it was supposed to end.
