All of the students had gathered at Kuromorimine later that day as they were going to discuss the peace terms from the conclusion of the war. Megumi, Earl Gray and Ankara were at the front with Sofia, Mahou and Alexei were sitting on one side with Gisela, Rumi and Azumi sitting on the other with Manami and Runa taking center stage and administering the peace treaty.
"We got the news of the war and Saunders had managed to defeat Kebab fair and square. There is nothing to argue over Earl Gray." Manami began. Earl Gray grumbled.
"But Saunders was going to completely destroy Kebab and I had to intervene." Earl Gray pleaded as she thought this victory was completely unfair and Ankara was going to lose control of the school thinking that Megumi had the opportunity to overthrow her.
"Megumi isn't willing to go that far." Runa replied. Alexei was whispering to Mahou what she had in mind. "Ankara is going to keep her position but she has to pay some of the money back."
"Great, we need something to counter Megumi's aggressive policy of expansion." Earl Gray was happy that Ankara was going to keep her position as commander.
"Shut up you, old hag Victoria." Megumi shouted at Earl Gray.
"Kebab destroyer." Earl Gray sneered back.
"Stop it." Alexei called out. He had managed to silence everyone as they all looked at each other. Manami was surprised.
"I never knew a boy such as the tsarevich had managed to prevent everyone from fighting each other. He must be a truly holy person." Manami began with surprise.
"Okay so I've talked about it with Mahou, and she recommends that we leave the mouth of the Danube back to Saunders but it will get Northern Dobruja in compensation. Plus we agreed that Count High School, the Serbian gang and Montenegrin gang will become completely independent from Kebab High School." Alexei made the demands that the three schools should be completely free from their overlord. Manami nodded as she had agreed to Alexei's demands.
"Okay I agree with what Alexei has presented. Megumi, it's your turn to make your demands." Manami nodded with the tsarevich's approval. Now it was Megumi's turn to make her demands.
"Okay, we get the Kars territory in the Caucasus plus we want to free Yogurt Academy and let the school be completely independent. They will have twenty-five million yen with a Sensha-Do team consisting of M3 Lee's, Matilda 2's, Cromwells, S35 SOMUA's and a few M10 tank destroyers for the Sensha-Do team. The student army will have a team of five thousand students as its standing army with Berdans and the latest artillery that Kuromorimine has to offer." Megumi laid out her proposal to let Yogurt academy not only be independent but get a powerful Sensha-Do team right off the bat. Earl Gray knew she was horrified.
"I object to these terms!" Earl Gray shouted. Everyone turned their heads as Earl Gray had voiced her protest of these terms.
"Go ahead, say what you need to say." Manami began.
"First off we can't have a powerful Sensha-Do team and that big of a standing force straight off the bat after they gain their independence, nor should they get that much money." Earl Gray proposed. "We still need to keep Kebab in the game from losing too much. We should come up with terms that are much more fair for the great schools instead of these smaller schools gaining so much influence."
"Go on." Rumi told Earl Gray.
"First off Yogurt Academy's standing army should be nothing as there is no way this school can muster five thousand students. Second, the Sensha-Do team. I think we should give them Cv-33's and Panzer 38T's for the time being as giving them all of those tanks will be a big threat against us." Earl Gray began voicing her suggestions. Manami began to write down the new terms. "Also, St Gloriana wishes to take Cyprus from Kebab and Epirus given to Olive Academy who isn't here."
"Anything else that anyone wants to add to the claims?" Manami asked the others.
"Yeah. The Dual Alliance wishes to add the Bosnian and Herzegovinian gangs to its sphere of influence as they should be ripped away from Ankara and I will take better care of them myself." Gisela made her claims clear that the Dual Alliance was expanding much to Kebab's expense.
"Okay then I will create Eastern Rumelia in Yogurt Academy to prevent the school from being united." Ankara placed her proposal that she didn't want a strong united Yogurt Academy as they could be a potential threat.
"Well tough luck Ankara as we're still going to sell rifles to Sofia anyway and we've managed to rearm ourselves." Azumi responded. Manami froze. How did BC Freedom rearm their entire school within a matter of days.
"Demilitarize yourselves or I'll declare war on you Azumi." Manami threatened that she would fight BC Freedom yet again to make sure they were weak.
"If you invade BC Freedom from the west Manami, I'll invade from the east." Megumi threatened war with Kuromorimine if they attacked BC Freedom.
"Yeah." Rumi called out.
"Says the school that is inciting Slavic rebellions everywhere." Gisela shouted. The treaty was turning into one big shouting match with the alliance making threats with each other.
"I'm breaking up the alliance since you two aren't able to cooperate with each other and shouting threats of war." Manami began. "Megumi and Gisela, you two please leave." Megumi and Gisela got up and left the room, Megumi was angry at Gisela, Manami, Ankara and Earl Gray for ruining the proposed plan of a strong Yogurt Academy. Once the tension had completely cooled down, she began speaking. "Okay Alexei, you might as well take over as you seem to be even tempered."
"Sure thing, so my proposal of those three becoming independent, the territorial changes, a small independent Yogurt Academy and Saunders getting Kars is agreed upon?" Alexei asked if this was all correct.
"Yes, that is correct, and Gisela is getting Bosnia and Herzegovina, Earl Gray getting Cyprus, Olive Academy getting Epirus and the creation of Eastern Rumelia inside of Yogurt Academy is agreed upon. Do you object to these tsarevich?" Manami listed the demands from the outsiders if this was something that he should agree on. Alexei decided to give it some thought and came to a conclusion a few seconds later.
"Nope, I don't object, all of these demands are fine." Alexei replied. He found the terms to be fair and there was nothing he was going to protest over.
"Great, just sign here and we should be good." Manami slid the tsarevich a slip of paper, Alexei got out his pen and signed his name in place of Megumi's. These were the new changes and the tsarevich was willing to compromise. Manami got back the slip of paper and Runa began looking at the group as this meeting had concluded.
"All right, we're all set. Thanks for attending the meeting." Runa told the group. The students got up and began to walk away. This treaty ended up being a lose-win. Saunders ended up losing what it wanted but the tsarevich and Earl Gray managed to get what they wanted but at the cost of The League of the Three Empresses breaking up. Manami felt regret from dissolving the alliance and she looked at Azumi with suspicion. She knew she had to get the alliance back together in a few days.
After a few days, Megumi had calmed down. She was speaking with Kay, Lola and Alexandra about the results of the war.
"While sustaining victory, we took heavy losses and the tanks were vital to helping the breakthrough. However, we've learned that the Berdans that we introduced at the beginning of the year have sadly quickly become obsolete. We need a new service rifle to arm Saunders as we are still behind in our student army. The tanks will be undergoing more tests to see which roles they will fit in."
"Well, I did manage to capture one of their lever actions guns and we can probably make a hybrid between the two by using the Berdan but adding a magazine to it to waste ammo in those precious seconds." Kay said that she managed to take something from Kebab and they could start their research there.
"Will it be a lever action or a bolt action like the Berdan?" Megumi asked Kay.
"Bolt action like the Berdan but I think I need to invite Baby Lee to help with the research." Kay replied. She knew she couldn't do the research alone and would like to do some experimentation if they were going to replace the Berdan.
"Make some invitations if this is going to be your research, Kay. We definitely need to start catching up." Megumi replied. She then turned to Lola. "When will the novella be finished?" Megumi asked her.
"A couple more days from now and this is number two." Lola replied. Megumi nodded with approval.
"That's good, I can't wait to read it and get it published." Megumi seemed to be excited by this bit.
"Reading again, I'm off to brush the horses." Alexandra decided to let Megumi know that she was off to do some work. Megumi nodded as Alexandra left the scene while the others were busy. Kay decided to call Alice to see if she was available. Grabbing the phone, she dialed in the number.
"Baby Lee?" Kay called her friend as she placed the phone to her ear. Alice heard the ringing of the phone and picked it up.
"Hello?" Baby Lee asked when she picked up the phone.
"Baby Lee, this is Kay. I need you for rifle research." Kay began.
"Kay, I've been trying to call you for the past couple of days, where were you?" Baby Lee asked Kay if she managed to pick up, she didn't know she was able to contact her.
"I was at a war with my school." Kay replied.
"Did you win?" Baby Lee asked Kay if her school managed to win the war.
"We did, we managed to get favorable terms with our friends." Kay replied.
"That's great. So what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" Baby Lee asked.
"Well we've been fighting with single shot rifles and we think they're becoming obsolete, want to help me make a new rifle for Saunders to use?" Kay asked her friend if this was going to be good.
"Sure thing. I can get a few pieces of paper and a couple of pencils and we can just make a rifle from scratch." Baby Lee replied with enthusiasm.
"So when do you expect to come over? I'll show you around the school." Kay asked her friend if she was going to be able to come over.
"Hopefully tomorrow, if not, Friday at best. I need to ask Teddy if I can come over for a visit." Baby Lee told Kay that.
"Okay ask him, I'll begin doing some research." Kay nodded.
"Okay see you." Baby Lee then hung up and Kay walked away with her lever action rifle and left the room. Megumi and Lola were the only ones left in the room as Lola was typing away on the keyboard. She decided to try to talk to her.
"Hey Lola?" Megumi asked her.
"Yes?" Lola asked her.
"I think you look like you're out of ideas, want to come for a walk with me so you can rest your brain?" Megumi asked her friend as if Lola was struggling to think of something.
"Sure thing." Lola replied. She managed to give her fingers a rest before she got up and walked over to Megumi. They left the room and they decided to take a walk.
Megumi and Lola were walking along the grounds just outside of the school building along the river that ran by the school campus. The two of them were chatting away about what Megumi had planned.
"I heard you've been writing away, happy that the war is over?" Megumi began.
"Yeah I think it gave me ideas on what I wanted to do, I was even writing after we got back to camp after the ceasefires for the day were called." Lola replied with a smile.
"That's good. I would be excited to read what you will publish. I think I would hear some more drama from the upper class." Megumi joked with her friend. Lola giggled while they kept walking.
"You're pretty shrewd with your words." Lola replied.
"I know, I'm happy when people like you are happy." Megumi replied.
"Would I make a good talented Countess as I actually come from a family with a lot of money." Lola revealed to Megumi that she would be perfect for a life in the upper class.
"By the looks of things, yes you would, what nationality are you?" Megumi asked Lola what she was and where she came from.
"I'm French Algerian, though I'm more African than French based on my blood." Lola replied.
"I can tell." Megumi replied. "You're still sweet as sugar."
"Or honey." Lola teased Megumi. Megumi laughed as they kept walking.
"So Lola, I might ask, will you attend the victory party tomorrow night? You were a good runner and messenger during that war and I think you deserve a little treat for what you did back there."
"I will thank you for reminding me. I'll come dressed in my prettiest." Lola told Megumi. A black skinned student was standing on the curb of the river as she was smiling and she walked by them. She had one arm out and right hand behind her back.
"Okay, I can't wait to see the dress." Megumi told Lola, she turned to see the student waving to her. "Hello there. Nice to see you." Megumi greeted her.
"Nice to see you too." She replied. Megumi turned and began walking away as they were going to head back to the school. Even though she was being friendly, this was a deception tactic. Lola stood there staring into space for those couple of seconds before she took from what she had behind her back. She was holding a fully loaded revolver in her right hand. Lola turned to see the girl getting ready to shoot Megumi on the spot.
"Megumi! Watch out!" Lola shouted. Megumi turned her head to see the very same student she greeted was holding a revolver at her. Her happiness quickly turned into panic as she began to run. The student fired the revolver six times at close range, roughly ten yards away from Megumi. Megumi was zig-zagging for her life while bullets whistled past her. Fortunately for Megumi, all six bullets missed. The student tried to fire again but she used up all of her ammunition. Lola tackled her and began to beat her up. Megumi ran back to see her friend fighting her would be killer. "Megumi, are you okay?" Lola asked her.
"I'm fine but I was scared." Megumi helped Lola restrain the student while Lola had disarmed her.
"We should take her back to Alexandra for questioning. We need to find out what this rowdy girl is up to." Lola replied as they began dragging the squirming student away.
Nighttime had come as Alexandra was done extracting the information she wanted from the girl. She walked out of the room to see Megumi and Lola who were waiting outside of the room.
"So, what is it that we found out about this girl?" Megumi asked Alexandra if there was anything that they managed to find out from this would be assassin.
"Well she was acting alone. The reason why she did it was the greater representation of minorities and the aristocratic class as she felt like you were to blame for weakening their power." Alexandra replied about what she knew about what she learned from this attempt.
"Another one? I thought we were just about finished with these assassinations? What's next?" Megumi asked. She didn't know what they were going to be expecting next.
"The school might blow up next if I can take a wild guess." Lola joked that Saunders might explode literally if the aristocrats got their way.
"Well we should invest into Megumi's security as she is our leader and if something happens to her, there will be a power struggle between the few and the many. Plus all of the reforms that you've introduced will be undone and we'll start back from square one." Alexandra suggested she was up to moving forward but Megumi was at risk. This had to stop.
"How can we try helping our friend out without any of us getting hurt?" Lola asked if there was going to be any suggestions they should make in order to prevent more events like these from happening. Alexandra and Megumi began to wonder if they had any ideas.
"I think we need to increase spending on security if we are to ensure the safety of Megumi, if her safety isn't secured, we will lose her one day." Alexandra suggested if they were going to keep Megumi safe.
"I think Azumi can make a bulletproof carriage for me, I can send the request for her if she has any for me." Megumi told them that her friend probably had a carriage she could ride around in if they wanted to keep her safe.
"Good idea, I'll contact Azumi if we have one." Alexandra nodded before she began to walk away and call Azumi if they had any carriages that they could use. Lola looked at Megumi before she began to walk away.
"I have to work on that novella of mine and get that finished before the party." Lola told Megumi before she began to walk away. Megumi nodded.
"Hurry home." Megumi replied. Lola nodded before she began to jog home. Megumi nodded as the student who tried to take her down was escorted away.
Alexandra called Azumi as she had a specific request for her. Azumi picked up the phone as she was curious about what was going to happen.
"Hello?" Azumi asked.
"Yes, this is Alexandra, Megumi nearly got herself shot as of today. Lola managed to foil the assassination attempt as she was standing nearby." Alexandra began the conversation.
"I was reading about it, and I am pretty shocked because of it." Azumi told Alexandra about it.
"I'd figure. Also do you have any bullet proof carriages that I can take a ride in?" Alexandra asked. Azumi began to think about it and she knew that her friend would ask her for something like this.
"I think we have one, when do you want us to send it to you?" Azumi asked Alexandra that she didn't one hundred percent think they have one but she knew they had one. "I have to go check for one. If not, I can make one in three days."
"Perfect. Send it to us when we throw our victory party." Alexandra responded with a smile. Azumi was surprised by this.
"A party? When?" Azumi asked, she was beginning to get excited that Saunders was doing something like this.
"Tomorrow night, you must come in your best, and we will have a bunch of middle school boys dancing with us along with the bands of Stauss and Tchaikovsky playing for us when we dance." Alexandra told Azumi when this party was going to be hosted along with a couple of the composers the music was going to be played.
"Do they have Chopin and the Maple Leaf Rag?" Azumi asked Alexandra if they were going to be playing ragtime at the party.
"I don't think Chopin has composed that rag but we can play some rag." Alexandra responded that she was willing to do something for a friend.
"Great, I'll call back if I find a bullet proof carriage, I must begin searching." Azumi told Alexandra before she told her goodbye. She hung up before she walked away. Alexandra was more than happy to find out that something exciting was bound to happen.
In one of the rooms below deck, a group of students had huddled around in a single room, and they were unhappy with what was happening.
"That's number two we sent out to try taking Megumi down. We can't let this go on for much longer. If it does, Megumi will take all of our power away and give it straight to the former serfs. We can't allow her to give all of the power to the former serfs. We can't lose all of our influence and let them start voting. If they do, we'll have no seats left and the students get all of the power." Himari began.
"All of the attempts so far have been amateurish attempts on Megumi's life and all of them have failed. We need to begin planning much more ambitious attempts if we're going to take her out and reclaim our throne. We will do this and her security isn't going to stop us" Yuri called out.
"Let's go reclaim what is rightfully ours!" Himari shouted. Megumi tried to do something good but the hornets were racing after her as she had given their foes something they didn't like.
They didn't know when the next strike was going to happen next.
[A/N]: The treaty has been established but not everybody is happy with how it turns out and now some of the students want revenge for either the wrong stuff they got or someone getting too powerful. I've decided to cover both treaties here as they have the same results.
Also, there is some good news, Megumi is hosting a party for the school and there will be a party in the next chapter so pay attention to that. Let's see if we can get up to 350 views and another review when the party chapter is made.
Attempts on Megumi's life: 3 out of 7
