The next morning Kay was busy in her office. She wanted to make the changes as fast as she could to get the school up and running. After what happened yesterday, she was determined to try to do the best she could. She wrote away at the changes on the keyboard when Lyova walked up to her, and he began speaking.
"Well it's your first day at work, I was wondering how we can grow the economy, agriculture is lagging behind and we should begin reforming that." Lyova told Kay that they needed to grow food more efficiently if they were going to be on top.
"I'll get to agriculture last as there are more important matters that I need to attend to." Kay told Lyova that agriculture was at the bottom of her to-do list and wasn't her biggest priority. "We still need to finish Alexandra's work and choose a new universal tank. I don't think the M6 Heavy tank is really up to the challenge so we need to choose something else."
"I'll do a tank trial and give you the results, and we also have a new side arm adopted to replace some of the older revolvers. The M1895 revolver with the bullet inside of the jacket for a few more feet per second so the gas doesn't escape. It's also a seven shot design though reloading is more of a chore." Lyova told Kay what their new handgun was going to be.
"That's fantastic but I think we should have something that isn't another revolver. We need to begin thinking in the third dimension." Kay told Lyova that he needed to begin designing another handgun. Lyova then left as Megumi walked in.
"So how are the reforms coming along?" Megumi asked Kay if she had an idea of how they were coming.
"I'm going to reverse all of Alexandra's extreme ideas as this should be a school where we should love everyone, not murder." Kay told Megumi that some of Alexandra's unpopular decisions were going to get reversed.
"That'll bring back the aristocratic class, you sure you want to do that?" Megumi asked Kay if she was making the right decision.
"I am and the reasoning behind that is that we shouldn't let our people live in fear. I know how to keep them in line so they don't become too powerful." Kay lied about the last part as she knew absolutely nothing about how to make effective control. She then began to show Lyova the list of reforms she was going to implement.
•Grade Net will be lowered to fifty and harsh punishments will be removed.
•Foreign businesses will be established to help the economy out.
•Sensha-Do is accessible to everyone now as the rank determined by your grade has been abolished.
•Sensha-Do training will be implemented to get ourselves prepared for the 61st National Sensha-Do tournament.
•All language classes will be enforced to teach English.
•Sensha-Do will be invested into as the cavalry club will be abolished and the student army will be reduced to ceremonial purposes.
•Uniform would be changed along with the flag and symbol. New uniform would consist of a gray blazer with a white undershirt with a red skirt and thigh high socks.
•Everyone is expected to be friendly even the aristocrats which will have some power handed back to them.
"Good changes so far, but we definitely have more to do." Megumi told Kay that they needed to work harder if they were going to encourage the school in a new direction.
"Can we do a census of the boat's population to see how many people are living on there." Kay suggested. Megumi nodded.
"Okay we'll do that and the publications will be printed out the next day." Megumi replied with her usual vigor.
"Great. Let's begin." Kay told her. Megumi prepared to leave when Kay brushed aside some paper to reveal a letter sitting beneath "Before you go Megumi I wanted to speak to you about this letter." Kay began as she opened the envelope up. Megumi looked at her friend.
"What's it about?" Megumi asked. Kay opened the letter as it was a complaint letter from the tsarevich.
"This… explain." Kay told Megumi that she needed to explain herself if she was going to figure out the meaning of the letter.
"It's from the party you held. Neither Alexei nor I were pleased with the visit, we just got up and left." Megumi explained that they didn't like what exactly happened there that night so they decided to go somewhere else.
"You… left me?!" Kay asked, she was fuming with the fact that Megumi just got up and left the party rudely. She grabbed the phone and decided to call Tsarevich Alexei about this. Within a couple of moments, the phone picked up and Alexei was on the other side.
"Hello?" Alexei began.
"Alexei, for what you did during that night I will say you and your sisters are not welcome onto Saunders." Kay hissed at Alexei for what he did, even going as far as banning them from coming over to visit.
"What?! You can't do this, we agreed that we would assist each other when the year started, you can't pull out on us now." Alexei was horrified from what he had heard.
"Obviously, I want to take my policies elsewhere and if I see you trying to make diplomatic ends with the school we will have your school punished for not following the rules." Kay told Alexei that he wasn't welcome to the school at all. Alexei just hung up as he didn't bother responding. Kay then placed the phone down and she turned to Megumi.
"Get going with that census." Kay told her. Megumi then hurried out of the room while Kay began to dial in a new number. Then the phone picked up to see who was on the other side.
"Hello?" Baby Lee began.
"Well good news, I'm now in control of the school and we would like to establish a relationship between us." Kay told Alice that she was shifting her policy and focusing on a new way forward.
"That's great, I'll see if I can get myself free so I can come over for a visit." Baby Lee replied before she hung up. Kay knew she had her plan going but it will be a hectic race in a new direction that Kay wasn't expecting.
Alexandra was laying in her new hospital bed, she woke up and realized she was in a completely different place, she was beginning to feel a lot better now, her back wasn't in pain and she decided to sit up in her bed to enjoy breakfast. Tatiana walked in with a nurse and they began to speak about the results.
"Wow Alexandra, you recovered a lot faster than what we expected thanks to the antibiotics. We'll keep you in the hospital for one more day to make sure the toxins are flushed out of your kidneys. However, we got the news that you aren't welcome onto Saunders by Kay as you had repressed your subjects and with her taking over, she will put the school into a new course of the river that is this year." The nurse told her. Alexandra sighed. Kay had to kick her out while she was on the ground and unable to fight back. "Also we got the news that Kay has dismantled your cavalry groups with her new policies. Looks like you won't be charging out with glory."
"Why them?" Alexandra closed her eyes tightly while she couldn't bear the words that came out of the nurse's mouth. "I wanted to do what was best for them. Kay decided to end them?" Alexandra began to weep, she liked horses but Kay canning the program in favor of tanks was too much for her. "Tell Kay I will not be coming back." Alexandra sniffed before the nurse nodded.
"I will tell her." The nurse got up and left the room before Tatiana looked at her friend who was trying her best to hold her tears back.
"It's okay Alexandra, I have someone who is on her way to help you out for the rest of the day, she is my cousin after all." Tatiana [R] tried her best to help Alexandra out while she tried to get a grip of what had happened to her cavalry group.
"You think so?" Alexandra asked Tatiana if she was willing to help her out.
"Yes she is, she is pretty friendly too even though she is a first year." Tatiana [R] replied to Alexandra while the latter rested in her bed. Tatiana looked over behind her to see her approaching them. The first year was tall, had brown hair and blue eyes, she looked like she was older than she really was. She walked in to greet Tatiana.
"I wonder how well she is doing?" Nonna asked.
"Yes she is, her condition has stabilized and she has recovered quickly with her discharge being due tomorrow morning, we just need to make sure that her kidneys have been entirely flushed out." Tatiana [R] told Nonna about the condition that Alexandra was in.
"Okay good." Nonna told her cousin. Tatiana got up and left the room while Nonna turned to Alexandra. "I'm Nonna, you must be Alexandra, Tatiana told me all about you."
"Yeah she did." Alexandra responded. "I'm still upset about what Kay is doing to the school ever since my kidneys began acting up. Now I have nowhere to go because of her." Alexandra tried to explain to Nonna that she used to be the strongest student in Saunders, now she had been dethroned from her spot and her successor was tearing everything she had carefully built up, thrown to the road while the progress of the school drives like a bus down a highway to a better future. Alexandra felt like she had been left behind. She buried her hands into her face and she began to weep again.
"It's okay Alexandra, I'll give you some place in my school to stay." Nonna began. She patted Alexandra in an attempt to calm her down. "How many years do you think you have left?" Nonna asked if she wanted to see how much longer would Alexandra needed before she was to graduate and move on.
"Just this year." Alexandra told Nonna once she lifted her face from her hands.
"I'll be more than willing to give you a place in Pravda, we're pretty isolated and don't get involved in another school's drama." Nonna reassured Alexandra that she was going to live the rest of the year without anyone else getting into their business. Alexandra hugged Nonna almost as a thank you and with Pravda being isolationist from the other schools, they had a chance to move on and live in relative peace for the rest of the year.
"I don't know what I will do without you." Alexandra began. Tatiana entered the room again as she had news for the both of them.
"Well I just got a call from Alexei." Tatiana [R] began. "Kay has barred him and our entire family from visiting Saunders after the letter from him was found out."
"What?" Nonna began. "That's insanity, Kay is just cutting the ropes off so you have no way to stay in contact with her. Your school and Saunders had a mutual friendship for the past ten or so years with Ekaterina II, why is Kay destroying it?"
"We don't know for sure but Saunders is beginning to get unlucky with the dice rolls and will eventually have nothing to gamble away if they continue to lose." Tatiana [R] replied.
"Well they just need to keep losing and we'll get ourselves a winner and by winner, we mean us." Alexandra spoke with a smile on her face. She hopes that Kay's plan will fall apart and they will return to the old order.
"Let's hope so." Nonna replied. She nodded as she was going to give Alexandra the company she needed.
The day wore on as Kay was making phone calls and setting up where the foreign business ventures were to be located. Megumi walked back in as she had a list of the people from Saunders.
"How did the census go?" Kay asked Megumi if she had any notes of the census. Megumi slid the piece of paper over to Kay for her to take a look over. Kay began to read the paper while Megumi began reading the notes over who Kay was calling, bottling plants? Food chains? Foreign companies? Megumi couldn't believe it.
"What have you been doing?" Megumi asked Kay if she had any idea of what she was doing this entire time while she was getting the census of the population out to the public.
"Setting up business so that the school could make more money. I also brought the aristocrat class back." Kay started to list her achievements to Megumi. Megumi was less than pleased with what Kay had done.
"You brought the aristocrats back. Kay! You should have never done that especially when they tried to kill me!" Megumi shouted at Kay that she was making a fatal mistake.
"Yeah so, I also thought we should be going easier on the grades plus we got rid of the stupid language classes. Alexandra is also gone as well." Kay also told Megumi that they needed to take it easy on the students if they were going to enjoy all of the benefits that were going to come over them. Megumi was fuming over these changes.
"Kay, do you realize why Alexandra didn't want you to become tsarina in the first place? It's because of this!" Megumi hissed at Kay that these changes didn't sit well with her. "I was taking the census of the population when the students had asked to join me in their protest. The older students don't like the changes you're making and the farmers are still poor as they need reforms, the aristocrats are going to protest for not implementing their needs and the conditions in the factories are so poor that the workers are protesting for better working conditions. And the problem with this is as you are the leader and the one making the decisions, there is only one person to blame all of this: You." Megumi knew she had to tell Kay the news that her reforms weren't sitting well, especially with the older students who were in Saunders long before Kay.
"Yeah so?" Kay asked as she didn't want to continue the argument and instead decided to read over the census. "We got a few thousand more people on the ship and the students are coming in for transfers so your population projections are paying dividends." Kay began.
"Should we build more housing?" Megumi asked Kay if that would be possible.
"Nope, no more housing, we got plenty of that." Kay told Megumi that housing wasn't on her priority list.
"But what if we run out of housing and the rent price rises, there will be people that will be left behind." Megumi expressed her concern to Kay that they didn't want to run out as it would drive the price up and increase competition.
"Not my concern there Megumi, we'll deal with it when that comes, for now I need to arrange the arrival of the foreign companies." Kay was telling Megumi that she had everything under control and they were going to continue going up.
"I don't think I have much faith in you running the school to the best of its ability." Megumi told Kay that she didn't have the faith in her being able to handle the school all that well.
"I am organizing another party tomorrow. I think this one I want to make bigger than the one before it. In any case. I am going to get the stuff ready for the party." Kay told Megumi. Megumi didn't like this at all and Kay was being pretty reckless with the finances, spending them on herself and to benefit herself. Megumi sighed as she knew she had to intervene and cancel the party before it went ahead. Then the typewriter buzzed as a message began to type up in the fax. Megumi got up and went over to the fax to see what it was. Perhaps an opportunity, grabbing the paper, she pulled it out and began to read it.
Saunders University High School.
Olive Academy and Kebab High School had started a war over the ownership of Crete. Riccioli had sent some of her best students over to help fight but it was not enough on her end. She requests more schools to form an international squadron to help fight Ankara. We are requesting the best students you have to offer. Earl Gray, Riccioli, Gisela, Manami and I have agreed to support Olive Academy in their endeavor and we need your help too Megumi. Respond back if you're in on this.
Azumi, BC Freedom commander.
Megumi read the letter over and some of their enemies and their allies had decided to get together to do something special and send their best students to help out. Megumi sensed an opportunity to throw Kay's party plan out the window. Nodding with a smile, she got out the new technology that the school had got, she began typing the letter away.
Dear Azumi
Your deal for the invitation to the international squadron is promising. Kay says that she wants to throw a party tomorrow but I'm willing to do anything to prevent the said party from happening. I will let my students know about the plan that we're going to help you out with and we promise a hundred of our best students out there. Keep calm and keep fighting on for Olive Academy. Kebab has been beaten once and so it'll be beaten again.
Sincerely, Megumi
Megumi struck the send button and sent Azumi her reply. Hopefully the events of tomorrow will throw a wrench into Kay's plans. She nodded with confidence, and she grabbed the microphone and began speaking.
"All students, I would like to make an announcement as Megumi. Our friends in Olive Academy are in trouble. We need to gather the best students we have to offer and we're going to send them over to them tomorrow as part of the international squadron. Many of the other schools are doing the same and we should give our helping hand out and help out our friends. All events that we have planned tomorrow will be canceled as this is the event I am talking about. I will see you tomorrow morning when we have the volunteers signed up and armed. Thank you." Megumi made the announcement that she was looking for volunteers to help them out when it came to an event such as this. However, she wanted to override Kay's plans to throw a party.
Kay who was listening in on this, heard what Megumi was doing, she was canceling all plans for tomorrow. She wasn't pleased.
"Gah! Why does she always have to ruin my plans!" Kay shouted to herself; she wasn't happy with what had been happening with this turn of events. She began pacing back and forth as she tried to think of something, what was she going to do? Give in? She began thinking of Ankara and how mad she was in the last war they fought in. Maybe there could be something to win Ankara over, Kay continued to think. If Megumi was going to bring the war, maybe she'll bring the peace. "I know, I'll have the party after the war." Kay muttered to herself, she smiled as she began planning out the new idea she had. Megumi's wrench had been thrown into her original plans, but Kay was able to quickly change her gears and forage onward. She knew she had to get to work, she darted off without haste.
Meanwhile on one of the battleships stationed in the pacific, two sailors were picking up transmissions sent by Megumi, and they were figuring out what it was saying.
"Как ты думаешь, кто эта Мегуми? Она просит добровольцев в свою международную эскадрилью." One of the sailors asked out of curiosity. They had picked up the message that Megumi had sent to Azumi.
"Не знаю, мы должны спросить совета у капитана, я хочу отправиться туда, чтобы убедиться, что они не воюют друг с другом. Если он согласится, мы навестим Японию, чтобы узнать, кто такая эта Мегуми." The second sailor told his friend. They were willing to pay Megumi a visit if they get the go ahead from the captain.
"Я очень надеюсь, что эта Мегуми и эта Азуми дружат." The first sailor told his friend. The captain of the battleship came into the room, and he began to speak to the sailor about what his intentions were based on the messages that came into the ship.
"Что здесь происходит?" The captain asked. The two sailors turned and began to explain to him what had happened so far.
"Мы только что перехватили сообщение, написанное Мегуми для Азуми, о том, что ей нужна международная эскадрилья для ее планов вступления в войну. Нам стоит провести расследование?" The first sailor explained to the captain about what the entire plan was. The captain nodded and began to speak again.
"Мы отправляемся туда для расследования, чтобы разобраться с этим, я не хочу, чтобы кто-то стрелял из корабельных орудий, пока мы не подвергнемся нападению. Я не думаю, что какой-нибудь подросток будет настолько глуп, чтобы напасть на нас, но я не хочу, чтобы стреляли в ответ, думая, что мы собираемся уладить это мирно. Если мы сможем заставить Мегуми объяснить, что происходит, мы сможем прийти к какому-нибудь соглашению." The captain laid out the plan but he was hesitant about using the naval guns on his ship as it was just a bunch of teenagers going to war over something that he didn't know about, but his curiosity was getting the better of him. He began to think for a couple of moments before he began speaking. "Отправьте сообщение этой леди Мегуми, я не хочу войны между нашими странами."
"Точно, сэр!" The two sailors said at the same time before they saluted to each other. They headed off into the opposite direction as they were going to send Megumi a message, possibly a mutual friendship between the two ships.
Something big was about to happen and Megumi and Kay were in the middle of it.
[A/N]: Set up for something coming up in the next chapter, Alexandra's and Kay's paths are going to split off from each other as they are in two separate places now and it will be flip flopping between their points of view Megumi is going to the person that keeps their relationship together. I'm going to finally introduce much of the new group of characters I've been saving up for this entire time as Alexandra is taking shelter in someone else's school. Yep the Red angel is going to float her wings down and teach us how much Engels influences young people.
We've hit 800 views which I am pretty happy about, but I thought we were going to get less attention than that and all of my work would be for nothing. Let's see if we can pass 1,000 at the end of the month. I look forward to that. See you later.
