A/N: Buenos Días, Muchacha Latas!
I SWEAR I INTENDED THIS CHAPTER TO BE SERIOUS but the silly consumes my soul… So, another short and goofy one. The next chapter, though… The titan has big plans for that one.
In other news, Got my first hate comment on Tumblr yesterday. It was someone writing in shoutycaps. You know, it's funny- for the longest time. I mean literal months, I was worried the fandom wouldn't like this story. But now that I'm in motion, I can't be bothered by one pedant.
Amity followed close behind The Owl Lady. As they walked upstairs, she turned back to Phillip and explained "You stay here, we gotta have a quiiick girltalk. Ghost, keep em company." She said, tossing her staff - Ghost transforming back into her animated form midair, and landing on all four of her feet.
"So, What's the long version?" Eda asked as she ascended the top stair, putting a hand on her hip.
"Well, Phillip's helping my dads with trying to cure coven sigils…" Amity said, her eyes darting around nervously.
Eda raised an eyebrow. "I thought they already figured that out."
"I mean, they have a solution but…The problem we're having is that it's extremely resource-intensive and expensive, and- it would just simply be too expensive to produce enough to cure the entire Isles." Amity explained, with a small sigh.
"And how is raiding a coven outpost gonna help?" Eda asked, confused.
"Well, Phillip wants to try reverse-engineering one of the branding gloves, and- well, I figure it'd be a nice excuse to get him out of the house." Amity said, with a small shrug.
Eda crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure he's not just trying to lure us to a deserted location so he has plausible deniability if we 'happen' to get harmed?"
"I mean, he didn't know this place existed before this morning…" Amity said, her eyes drifting down to the floor. ""I think he's genuine about wanting to fix things, but…it's not out of the question that his method of fixing things would be disposing of us all. That's why I want you and King to come along, just in case anything happens/"
Eda rolled her eyes, but agreed "Good call, kid."
Amity looked up. "Oh, uh- one thing, he doesn't know he was the former Emperor."
"Huh?" Eda asked, raising a confused eyebrow. "I mean, he's heard the name Belos before, surely he isn't stupid enough that he can't put the pieces together."
Amity let out a small chortle. "No, we're trying to introduce that slowly…I told him Belos was the name of a 'Great criminal' he happened to 'resemble'. We're introducing the whole Emperor concept slowly, teaching him about all the bad he's done…We gave the former emperor the pseudonym Obron."
Eda shrugged. "He's going to find out eventually. Especially with his memories coming back."
"Yea, yea, we're building up to it, you know? We don't want to shotgun him with a ton of the misdeeds he's done." Amity replied.
"Gimmie a minute to get dressed." Eda said, walked into her bedroom and closing the door behind her.
Amity turned around and walked back down stairs, to the sight of Ghost and Currant running around at blinding speeds. Ghost was desperately trying to catch the crow, and but Currant was able to evade every single attempt. To an outside observer, it would look like the crow was in danger, but they were just playing. Currant was giving happy clicks showing she was having the time of her life.
Until, Ghost springboarded off the table and just barely managed to pin Currant down. Taking a moment to celebrate, before letting the Crow go to begin the whole cycle anew.
Phillip and King sat on the living room's couch, making idle uncomfortable chatter. Phillip couldn't help but laugh. To think, a few weeks ago he'd been bound to this very couch under much less friendly circumstances.
"So, who's palisman is that?" King asked, as the two palisman played. Owlbert was on the couch, as well, half considering joining in.
"Oh, she's mine." Phillip replied.
"Huh?" King asked, an eyebrow raised. "Where'd you get her?"
"I actually don't know who carved her…Amity handed me a box and said it was a 'gift from an old friend.'" Phillip said, with a shrug.
King immediately realized it was probably Hunter, but shut his yap.
"Would you like to meet her?" Phillip said, as he held his index finger out and let out a small whistle. Currant came and perched on his finger, giving King a small caw of greetings. Owlbert as well, gave Currant a hello 'hoot!'
