Elijah had been sitting on the patio of the Mikaelson home, reading the newspaper and sipping on his bourbon. Klaus sat across from him, reading some random book he pulled from the bookshelves. Although by the bored look on his face, not reading a word of it. After centuries of living near him, Elijah knew many things about Klaus. For example, he knew how long it took his younger brother to turn a page. And based on the time on his watch, Klaus had been reading the same page for over 35 minutes. He didn't blame his brother for his boredom. There was no one left in the house, but Elijah himself at the moment.

Freya and Rebekah had decided a day out in the city with Hope, was overdue. Kol was out living his life with his wife, calling every couple of months to check in. If he wasn't mistaken he should be calling in the days to come.

His mind wandered off, completely discarding the printed words in front of him. Many things have happened since the Hollow was finally destroyed. Elijah had once more saved his brother from getting killed. Instead of letting Klaus take the hallow in himself, he replaced him with another vampire instead. After the transfer was completed, he wasted no time staking the vampire in the heart. Did he hate killing an innocent man? Yes. Would he do it again? Yes if it meant saving his family. From there on they continued with their lives.

Klaus, Hope, himself, Rebekah, Marcel, Freya, and her wife, all lived in the Mikaelson home. Together they protected each other and made sure Hope had the best life they could give her. They owed her mother as much. Elijah still couldn't...wouldn't let go of the guilt that consumed him. Because of him, Hayley was dead. He could have saved her. Instead, he was destined to always remember the look as she called for him. Although they all tried to play it off, he knew things would never be the same. Hope and Klaus still held it against him, regardless of his brother denying it. They hated him for it. Not that he blamed them, but he couldn't leave either. Hayley had once made him promise, he would always be there to protect and love Hope. Even if at the moment the young hybrid/witch wanted him dead.

"Where did Hope say they were going again?" Klaus had given up on attempting to read past the infuriating page.

Elijah shrugged. "Out."

"Out." Klaus repeated. "Can you give more specifics?"

"I don't know Klaus, they said they were going out." Elijah sighed. "I didn't ask."

"Some uncle you are." Klaus grumbled.

Elijah closed his eyes for a moment. Folding his newspaper, he stood from his chair and walked away. "I will be in the kitchen."

"Why do we even have a kitchen." Klaus wondered. Shutting the book he tossed it in the seat he once occupied and followed his brother. "Not that we even use it."

"Are you going to be this irritating all day?" Opening the refrigerator he had hoped Klaus would just disappear. If only for a few seconds of peace.

"Let's go see what the city of New Orleans is up to." Klaus suggested, closing the refrigerator door with a cheeky grin. "I don't want to be cooped in here. And I don't want to go out alone."

Elijah was close to refusing, but he wouldn't mind a bit of fresh air. He might get lucky and lose Klaus to the crowd. "Very well brother."

"Aaron you want a hog dog?!" Kate yelled over the loud plaza, holding up a large hot dog.

Shaking his head, he went back to surveying the area. For Kate's birthday, he offered to take them anywhere they wanted to go. The team had enough vacation time stacked up to put them on hold for a year. When he submitted the request for two weeks, Strauss wasted no time in approving it. The woman practically shoved them out of the building. He assumed it had little to do with them and more with the fact, that she'd have Rossi to herself for two weeks.

Morgan had gone off with Savannah to his hometown. He wanted to introduce her to his mom and sisters, and get the final approval before he popped the question. The man had been carrying the engagement ring for over a month with him.

Spencer had gone to visit his mom. He would be catching up with them next week.

Jumping to the side he grumbled at the tourist bumping into his shoulder. It had been years since he set foot in this city. Long before the BAU or his prosecution era. He would have never guessed this was the place Kate wanted to see. Although thinking back, they don't usually get cases down here. And he has told them the pleasures of New Orleans, so if he was to blame anyone it would be himself.

But as much as he loathed this place, he promised the girls anywhere.

"Where to next?" Garcia stood by his side with their daughter Adhara between them. "Here pumpkin." She handed her a hot dog.

"I don't know." Kate handed Hotch a Hot dog, giving him a stern look. "You haven't eaten all day."

"Thank you." Glancing down at Adhara he noticed she wasn't eating. "Eat." The girl raised a brow pointing at his food. "You take a bite and I take one. Deal?" That earned him a nod before she took a nibble at the corner of the bread. Hotch scoffed, taking a bite just as small as she did. Adhara rolled her eyes, taking a large bite of the hotdog. "Atta girl." Biting into the food, he pulled a disgruntled face. "Get some pizza next time."

"Be grateful I got you anything at all." Kate sassed.

"Where is JJ?" Emily appeared behind him carrying the drinks. "I got her Dr. Pepper."

Hotch's eyes scanned the crowds in front of him. She had been a few feet away from him before Kate had called to him. The panic slowly began to raise in him. Adhara gripped his hand tightly. He sensed her heartbeat beginning to pick up. Just as he was about to yell out her name, he caught a glimpse of her. She was looking at some pieces of jewelry not too far from them. As he began to relax, he spotted a random male approach her. JJ shook her head a few times, but the man wouldn't step back. Dropping the hot dog on the ground, he stalked towards them.

"There is a party tonight by the docks. You should come."

"I don't think so." Having worked with the BAU she knew too many ways that could end badly. And that's just speaking on human behalf. "But thank you though."

"Don't be scared." He grinned. "Nothing bad will happen, it's just a party. Bring over some friends."

"I believe she already said no." Hotch stood behind his girl, challenging the man to say something.

"And who might you be?" He sneered.

"That is my husband." JJ gave him a smug look. Picking up a piece of jewelry she asked the old lady for the price, knowing Hotch would handle the man. "I'll take 6 of these and one of the black ones."

The man narrowed his eyes at Hotch, taking a step too close to JJ. "Well darling, if you ever want a good time you know wh-fuck!"

Before he was able to finish his sentence, Hotch pushed past JJ reaching for the man. Grabbing the base of his throat, he picked him up and slammed him against the floor. The nearby standers paused for a moment, before going about their day. No one batted an eye or even attempted to intervene.

"Oh." Kate hissed at the cement cracking underneath the man. "You're going to feel that in the morning."

Emily chuckled. "I think he's feeling it now."

Adhara spotted the veins underneath the man's eyes. Tugging at Gracias dress, she pointed at the man's face. The bubbly blond nodded, pushing her slightly behind her.

The man stared at Hotch with fear-ridden eyes. "Forgive me. I didn't realize." His tone was shaking as were his hands. "Won't happen again. Please."

Hotch clenched his jaw a few times debating in letting him go or not. Glancing at the woman behind him, he exhaled loudly. "They are off limits to you and everyone else. Understood?" All he got was frantic nodding. "Next time you won't be so lucky." Letting him go, he steered the girls away from the area. "Let's go get something to eat."

Kate raised her hot dog. "What do you call this?"

"Poisonous." Hotch grumbled. "I meant some actual food."

"This is actual food." Taking a large bite of her dog, she humphs away from him.

"Even Adhara didn't like it." Hotch gestured to the girl eyeing the food suspiciously. "And she is not a picky eater."

Garcia tuned them out for a moment, looking back at the man. He still sat on the ground visibly shaking. "Was he one of them?"

Hotch nodded. "This is their backyard."

"You scared him." Garcia whispered. "Could he know?"

"Don't see how." Hotch replied. "Been centuries since I've been here. That one couldn't be any older than a few years. Probably still in the single digits."

Emily tossed her hot dog into the bin with a grumble. "We should have gone to Miami instead."

Kate sighed, picking at her necklace. "Sorry ladies. I didn't think this one through."

"It's fine." JJ reassured her. "Besides that's the whole reason we have Aaron here. He'll scare them off."

"And here I thought it was for my charm." Hotch grumbled.

Back in the plaza

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is one of Marcel's little vampires." Elijah gestured to the boy getting up from the ground.

"Jacob." Klaus nodded.

"So how in the hell did he get knocked down by a human?"

Klaus shared a look with Elijah. "Wolf?"

"No scent."

"Vampire?"

Elijah shook his head. "No veins? Fangs?"

"You don't show them either." Klaus reminded him.

Klaus was right, but it took centuries to learn such control. Elijah still had his moments and lost control often, but this man showed absolutely nothing. "Why don't we ask Jacob what he saw?"

Klaus grinned. "After you brother."

Elijah approached the already startled vampire with caution. "Jacob, a word."

"Elijah!" He yelped. "I-I didn't know. I'm sorry. It won't happen again I swear."

Elijah frowned. "Stop blabbering and tell me what happened."

"I was talking with this woman and he came out of nowhere. Next thing I know I am on the ground." He wailed his arms around. "He told me the five women with him were off limits."

Klaus's grin suddenly grew wider. "Off limits."

"Who is he?" Elijah asked.

Jacob stared at him with confusion and even more fear. "He isn't one of you?"

Now Elijah was the confused one. "Why would you think that?" Everyone was already aware of the Mikaelson siblings.

"When he slammed me on the ground, it was as if you did it." Jacob replied. "If not more so. He is strong."

"This just got interesting." Klaus chuckled.

Elijah ignored the comment, his focus on the man. He didn't look familiar to them. But if he was an older vampire, Jacob didn't stand a chance. Jacob was only a few years old. Anyone could overpower him. "Leave it be Klaus." Elijah ordered. "From the looks of it, he is just here to enjoy the city. Don't go causing any trouble."

Klaus huffed. "Always did know how to ruin my fun."

"And that goes for the ladies as well." He growled. "Don't bother them."

"Of course."
