Chapter 2

Sebastian tried to pretend he was just like the other students that walked these halls. He really did, he tried to ignore the stupid windows that shouldn't exist and they only existed for balance. They weren't even real windows except for maybe if they needed to access the contents of that room for maintenance or something.

He tried to not see the building as it was, just a vessel for his education, sleeping quarters, food provider and free time activities. Yet he couldn't, he would always see the building as it really was, a blueprint of history, and architectural wonder.

The windows had a film on them that would keep the inside from getting too hot but still able to keep the heating bills down by warming the room and reflected a majority of the light back at the sun shining against it.

Sometimes it was a flush with brilliant warm glows and sunset colors. Sometimes it was prettier looking at the building than it was at the actual sunset.

When the light wasn't directed at it so blatantly, you could see the occupants moving around behind them but never an incredibly clear view of exactly who it was, just a vague notion. It was a safety precaution in a lot of ways, being able to see people without being able to identify them. Their uniforms contributed to that as well.

Still, kids could usually tell when it was their friend behind the blurred state because the same wasn't true from the other side of those panels. The view out of the windows was crystal clear and the friends would wave at each other through them. Or sometimes the windows were opened and it was easy to see each other clearly then.

As Sebastian walked back to his dorm room with Jeff and Nick, he could see Blaine half hanging out of the window of their room, a stupid grin on his face. "I wonder what he's gotten up to this time."

"He fancies himself in looove." Jeff informed them with a dopy grin of his own. Jeff loved love and everything that went with it. He was one of the lucky ones to actually experience it to know what it was and still love it and want it for others.

"Again?" Nick asked a bit dubiously. "Who is it this time?"

"No idea, he's been kind of quiet about it so far, I think it's still pretty new." Jeff shrugged.

"I'm done singing songs to them." Sebastian added, he wasn't a fan of being smacked across the face when he'd made some snarky comments to the Gap guy when he turned Blaine down afterward. Sebastian had deserved it, he'd practically implied that Gap guy was a pedophile. Blaine had just huffed at him and told him he deserved it too, considering the guys Sebastian hooked up with were usually even older. Sebastian had grinned lopsidedly at him for that comment and leered suggestively at Blaine who ignored his antics knowing there was no truth to them.

"You two are perfect, him a romantic who chases after love with all the wrong people and never gets laid and you who disdain the whole idea of love but somehow convince so many to press bodies together..." Nick shook his head in amusement, it wasn't news to anyone, just always amazed him.

"And they fall in love with you afterward." Jeff tacked on happily. "Perhaps you need a bit more of his lifestyle to finally tame your heart."

Sebastian rolled his eyes. "No, Jeff, he just needs to get laid and then he won't have such foolish notions of love."

"I get laid frequently and I have even stronger feelings about love." Jeff pointed out, wrapping his arm around Nick.

"Ok, fine, I'll accept that if the love is real, the sex can be even better." Sebastian threw up his hands and then pointed at his roommate and best friend sitting on the window sill and looking out at the sky sighing over sunsets and bluejays. "But the way he goes about things, it's obviously just lust, not love driving him."

"Or a crush." Nick confirmed what Sebastian was thinking, they had a similar mindset about things, the only difference was that he was also in love and so could see Jeff's side well too.

"He's going to start singing a sappy love song, you just know it." Sebastian wanted to turn around and walk away until he knew Blaine was asleep.

Sure enough, Sebastian wasn't fast enough and so just endured it. Jeff sighed happily and squeezed his arm that was still around Nick. He would have joined in if Nick didn't press a kiss to his lips to spare Sebastian the misery of having it from both sides. Or it was just a romantic moment that Nick just wanted to relish and participate in.

Sebastian didn't want to know the answer and so headed up to his room and slammed the door behind him, hoping to make a point but Blaine continued singing. Sebastian put in his earbuds and turned up some kind of metallic rock song to drown him out while he worked on his homework. He loved the guy but sometimes his best friend was so annoying.
