Chapter 71 – Champions, Again

Takes place after the last chapter.

Oliver breathed a sigh of relief once the door closed and the noise the reporters made faded ever so slightly. "I normally don't mind chatting with the interviewers and reporters but I'm getting tired."

"Speak for yourself, not all of us get to have the limelight as much," Silas said, a small smile making the comment teasing instead of bitter.

"Why do you think I keep pushing them towards you lot?" Oliver laughed and the others on the team laughed along. "Everyone deserves the attention."

"Yeah you've been really great about it," Shaw said. "It's funny how much you and Harry push the attention away."

"He's only given the one so far and only because he couldn't escape," Atton laughed.

"He's like that on Portree, always has been," Tanya said with Shelia agreeing. "Which is a nice change of place. Most Seekers are shameless glory hounds."

"I have shame," Shelia protested. "I'm ashamed of you a lot of times." She and Tanya started shoving each other about.

"Where did he go before this bout?" Lisa asked.

"Well he's a transfiguration master, so I bet he turned himself into a chair and waited for it to be clear and dash off," Ginny giggled.

"And risk being sat on?" Cailey snickered.

"He's used to it," Ginny said, waggling her eyebrows. She laughed when Angelina pushed her.

"Nothing so salacious," Angelina grinned. "I used to sit on Rabbit in Hogwarts to prevent him from running away when we confronted him with the stupidity he got into. Gosh, all you Weasleys love to stir the pot."

"It's a family thing," Ginny said. "And you're a Weasley too."

"I do mess with George and Fred like that," Angelina conceded.

"In his defense, it's felt like nothing but press conferences and the like since the game ended. A whole day and a half of media attention. He's a bit shy of it, with what the Prophet did in his early years." Oliver walked over to a closed door and knocked on it.

The team laughed when it opened and Harry poked his head out furtively. "Is it safe?" Harry asked, grinning sheepishly.

"For now," Oliver chuckled. "You know you'll have to deal with more when we go home right?"

"I know and honestly the other news groups from around the world aren't bad." Harry stretched and rolled his neck. "Just that I answered so many questions all day yesterday. If I talk about my catch anymore, my head will swell up and I'd have to replace all my hats."

"And that'd be terrible," Angelina teased, pulling him to her and hugging him, resting her chin on his head.

"I know the real reason he was hiding here," Ginny said with a knowing smile. "He's missing Katie and Dahlia and Iris."

"Right in one," Harry said without shame. "Don't get me wrong, it's been awesome visiting places and traveling with you lot but I'm missing home." Sirius and the rest went home early the morning after the game ended and Katie and a good portion of the support staff left later in the day. Harry had tried to leave with them but his obligations to the team prevented that.

"Never would've guessed that Harry Potter is such a family man before joining the team," Miles laughed. "You should be living it up and all that."

"I am," Harry said with a slight smile and utter confidence. "I'm living it up how I like to."

"Someone looks comfortable," Samantha smiled warmly.

Katie smiled back, hugging Iris in her arms and patting Dahlia who laid over her lap. "Very comfortable. Being home is just what the Healer ordered." She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Traveling and playing in different places is fun of course, not everyone gets the opportunity. But guess I'm turning into a homebody."

"You have a good reason to want to be home," Samantha said, sitting down beside her daughter and granddaughters. "Though Iris was very good for those days you weren't here. Barely fussed a bit. Though we did have plenty of Harry's things here for her."

"Good thing we learned from Dally," Katie giggled, running her hair through Dahlia's hair.

"What does that mean?" Dahlia asked, frowning slightly.

"When you were a baby, you were rather obsessed with your daddy," Samantha smiled. "You still are of course, but back then you were very loud about it."

"The first time your aunties watched you, you cried a lot," Katie said, smiling fondly at the memory. "They figured out that you stopped crying when they bundled you with one of your daddy's jerseys. Ever since then, when someone needed to watch you, we had something that your daddy wore for you."

"Oh, like when I snuggled in the invisibility cloak," Dahlia said.

"Exactly," Katie said.

"I love Daddy," Dahlia said simply.

"We know," Samantha chuckled.

"I love Mummy and Grandma Sammy too," Dahlia said and hugged them both. "And Iris."

"Thank goodness for that," Katie laughed. "Who's the better cook?"

"Daddy."

Katie sighed. "Should have known that. There are some things I make better though, right?" She sighed with relief at Dahlia's nod. "Thank goodness for that," she repeated wryly.

"When's Daddy coming home?" Dahlia asked.

"Later today. He might have to be at the Ministry for a bit for some media thing but he might try to duck out of it," Katie said. "He's getting tired of them."

"The poor thing has been swamped by them, but what do you expect when you're the best Seeker in the world?" Especially with him surfing on a broom like that and what he did at the Cup."

Katie started laughing. "Oh so you will never believe how he got the broom back."

"It wasn't a wandless Summoning Charm?"

"I think it was sort of but it's simpler and somehow more endearing and impressive than that." Katie shook her head, a proud smile on her lips. "He summoned it by calling for it."

"Like when you first learn how to ride a broom?" Samantha's eyes were wide. "Seriously?!"

"Yup."

"He, in mid-air, with the broom falling away from him, surrounded by ambient magic, summoned his broom back to him by shouting at it." Samantha roared with laughter and the others joined in. "He's a menace on the broom but he's a talented menace!"

"I really need to stop being shocked by him when it comes to flying or else I'll keep scaring myself half to death," Katie laughed. "Oh and speaking of, Dahlia Kaitlyn Potter, you are never to fly a broom like that, do you hear me? I will ground you, literally, forever if I catch you or any of the other two bunnies flying a broom like that."

"We won't. Daddy already made us promise not to do that," Dahlia said and she giggled as Samantha and Katie sighed with relief. "He said 'do as I say and not as I do'. He made it a Papa Harry Promise."

"Well that's good then," Katie said.

"I've heard of that and I've never thought to ask. What makes a Papa Harry Promise so much more likely to be kept than normal ones?" Samantha asked.

"Daddy said if we break a Papa Harry Promise then the punishment is no hugs or cuddles or snuggles," Dahlia said and she shuddered with horror.

"I remember when he said it the first time," Katie said, trying to stifle a smile. "The bunnies screamed bloody murder and clung to him like limpets and begged for him to never do that."

"Poor things," Samantha said and hugged Dahlia. "What a cruel punishment. How many Papa Promises has he made?"

"No broom surfing, no throwing rope at each other like Mummy and Auntie Lyly do, and no going to the shed by the pitch."

Samantha shook with laughter. "I can't believe he banned lassoing."

"I can. It's surprising how Lyla and I never seriously hurt each other before," Katie snickered.

"What's wrong with the shed by the pitch?"

"It's where Fred and George keep some more volatile ingredients and things as well as untested product."

"Oh then that's a good idea."

A dull feathery thunk could be heard and Dahlia scrambled off the couch and went running towards the sound. "Daddy!" she squealed and grabbed Katie's mirror and came running back. She plopped down on the couch once more. "Hi Daddy!"

"Hi flower!" Harry smiled from the mirror and despite looking tired, his eyes were bright when he saw them. "Hi there!"

"Are you back?" Katie asked eagerly.

"Just came in via the Portkey. I took a minute to mirror call you and I already told them that if this whole media farce takes longer than fifteen minutes, I'm apparating out of it in the middle of it, loudly and obviously."

"Media farce? Tell them how you really feel," Samantha laughed.

"I know I sound like MumAndi when I get annoyed," Harry laughed.

"You should take your time, love. Enjoy the attention. Give us some time to plan something big and terrible for your homecoming." Katie dissolved into laughter at Harry's stricken look. "I'm kidding. Come home soon. Dally and Rilly and I want you, and everyone else too." She grinned at a very loud hoot. "Especially Hedwig."

"Be home soon," Harry promised and after a wave, the mirror showed their smiling faces instead of his.

"I'll go tell Hailey and Hadley!" Dahlia said and ran out of the house.

"I'll summon who can come now," Samantha smiled, taking out her own mirror.

"Let's welcome them home," Katie said to a giggling Iris.

A trio of pops heralded Harry, Angelina, and Oliver's return to Potter Village. They groaned with relief and fatigue, swaying slightly as they regained their bearings.

"Home," Angelina said tiredly. "Oh it feels so nice coming home!"

"Seriously," Oliver yawned. "I'm not going anywhere for a while. If I can't walk to it, it can come to me."

A happy shriek cut through the air and the trio smiled widely at the small crowd of people walking and running to them.

"And there he goes," Angelina smiled as she watched Harry take off, dashing towards the incoming people despite his own fatigue.

"I'll never get tired of seeing him happy," Oliver chuckled.

Harry had stopped and leaned down slightly, bracing for the inevitable impact. He was knocked cleanly over, hit by three girls, an owl, and a dog. Their happy greetings mingled pleasantly as he flailed on his back, basking in the affection. Oliver wrapped his arms around first Alicia, then Danielle. Angelina hugged her mother Layla and then Molly and by then the others were there, chatting and laughing.

"Welcome home!" Hermione cried, pulling Harry up and hugging him hard. "Congratulations!"

"Thanks! It's so good to be back," Harry said with the widest smile. Daphne and Tracy squeezed the life from him before he was engulfed by Samantha and Lyla. He picked up a complaining Iris who immediately started cooing happily when he hugged her tightly. "I missed you too baby," he said, nuzzling her.

"The championship party is this weekend," Samantha said as she rested an arm on his shoulder. "Everyone's coming and we're going to watch the game with your memories. More people are coming tonight for a family welcome home party though."

"Can't wait," Harry smiled.

"We already figured out the food for tonight so all you're going to do now is nap so you'll have the energy for it," Hermione said.

"If I can," he said. However, bare moments after walking into his home, he was passed out on the couch. Iris and Heather slumbered on his chest in his arms with Bailey lying on his legs, Hedwig on his head, and Crookshanks squeezed in. The bunnies sat beside him on the ground, quietly and happily working on lessons.

Katie hugged her mother. "Now I'm the most comfortable," she said, utterly content.

"Look what we have here! The world's best Seeker!" the twins said in unison.

"Do mine eyes deceive me?" Fred simpered.

"Only if mine are also deceived," George tittered.

"Not only is he the world's best Seeker-"

"-he's the fabled reincarnation of the Japanese Thunder God!"

"Please don't smite us, almighty smiter!" they wailed together.

"I'll smite them for you," Molly offered to a red-faced Harry. "As often as you like dear."

"Thank you," Harry said gratefully, hugging her. "I know I can always rely on you."

The twins laughed and clapped Harry on the shoulder. "Seriously though, good job little bro," George said.

"Way to keep the winning going," Fred laughed.

"Thanks! You guys are going to love watching the memory. The final double Beater duel was incredible. It was like your yo-yo trick only much more intense. I think both sets of Beaters are getting rewards for a record set on consecutive Beater hits without missing the Bludger."

Harry whooped as Tonks pulled him to her and squeezed him hard. "Ah I'm so proud of you!" she shouted.

He smiled as he turned in her arms and hugged her back. "Thank you so much!"

Amelia smiled at him. "You should have seen us celebrate in the Auror office for the game. Took a while for us to clean up the mess."

"You guys really listened to it while there?" Harry asked, shocked, and hugged her.

"Hell yeah we did. Bunkered down and gathered 'round. Snacks and butterbeer and everything," Tonks said.

"She even told an official to fuck off and leave them alone," Amelia said dryly while others laughed. "To be fair, I frequently wish to tell that official to fuck off on a normal day."

"You'll have to come visit one day. Lots of folks want an autograph," Tonks laughed. "They even have some of the new posters!"

"Oh no. What new posters?" Harry asked, concerned.

"You lot haven't seen them yet?" Tonks asked.

"We were told there were new ones, ones with dynamics taken from the League games, but haven't seen them," Angelina said.

"Oh I got the whole series. Let me go and grab them." Tonks went running off and came back soon, carrying a tube with her. She popped open the top and started unraveling them.

"We were going to wait until this weekend for the big party," Alicia said, "and embarrass you all in front of more people but this will be just as good."

"Oh hell yeah," Angelina said and held up one of her holding her left arm out to aim and the Quaffle cocked over her shoulder. Photo Angelina grinned savagely and threw the Quaffle hard and the ball seemed like it would come flying through the picture at the looker. "I love this! This was the Mexico game. I look awesome!"

"Oh this was one of my favorite saves against Italy," Oliver smiled. He watched as his photo form punched the Quaffle away while flicking his body to the side to avoid a Bludger. "Punched it to Silas who took it back and scored."

"Whoa Ginny! You look incredible," Charlie gushed at the next one. Ginny was flying up and down the poster, catching the Quaffle and dodging past two Japanese Chasers before throwing the Quaffle. The cord she had used to put her hair into a ponytail had snapped halfway through and her hair was flowing dramatically behind her and her photo form threw her hair over her shoulder at the end.

"Like a heroine from a book," Molly praised and Ginny went pink-cheeked but looked very happy.

"Maybe they'll write books about you now," Harry teased and she flushed further, kicking him in the leg. She immediately regretted her decision when the bunnies retaliated on his behalf, hopping up and down on her other leg when she was assaulted. She chased after them, shouting while they ran squealing.

"I'll have to get one and hang it up in the Cauldron," Ron smiled. "That's a great play. Please tell me you got some of Harry looking like a prat."

"Oh, his is great," Tonks said and held one up and pulled the edges taut.

Harry groaned and covered his eyes. It showed him standing on the firebolt, his hand raised in victory and him roaring out loud. Then he zipped off, surfing the broom and holding his right arm up and left thrown out for balance. Golden light streamed behind his arm and his firebolt had a trail of fire follow him as he flew around the poster.

"Oh my goodness you really are riding the broom like a skateboard," Jean gasped. "And weren't you high in the air?!"

"He was," Alicia said flatly, poking him.

"And you caught it like that?!" Daphne gasped.

"You'll see it in action this weekend. It was terribly impressive and terribly terrifying," Luna said with a dreamy smile.

Thomas whistled. "Damn. What possessed you to do that?"

"Uh well, I took a trip to the States with the Tonkses before and we went to Hawaii and Tonks and I tried surfing that one time."

"Ah, the time I almost died," Tonks said and glared at her parents who had started snorting and giggling.

"Love, you have trouble walking on dry land on your feet sometimes," Andromeda said. She started guffawing, "Why you thought you would be any better on the ocean on a board is still a mystery to me!"

"And you didn't almost die," Ted laughed. "Unless from embarrassment."

"What happened?" Lyla asked.

"I tripped and hit my head on the board before I even got into the water," Tonks grumbled, hair turning bright pink.

"Wait, so you were able to surf on a board, and you thought you could do the same on a broomstick?" David asked.

"Despite being up in the air and that the broomstick is a fraction of the width of a surfboard?!" Hermione nearly shrieked.

"Is this a bad time to admit that I tried it a few times before and it worked out well enough?" Harry asked weakly.

"What?!" several people exclaimed.

"I was curious to see if I could do it," he shrugged and wilted at the looks they gave him. "You all really didn't know?"

"I would have done something terrible to you if I did," Katie said heatedly.

"Huh, okay then."

"Wait, what do you mean by that?" Daphne frowned at him.

"Nothing," he said insincerely.

Angelina looked down and noticed the three little girls looking up at the air in the same direction. "Bunnies, do you know something?"

"We know lots of things," Hadley said evasively.

George snorted. "She's your daughter alright," he said to Alicia.

"Do you know something about your Papa Harry doing something stupid?" Alicia asked, ignoring George.

"Uhm, what's that word that we might know something but there isn't any proof?" Hailey asked.

"Allegedly?" Luna supplied.

"Yes! Thank you, Auntie Luna. We might know something about Papa Harry doing something, allegedly," Hailey said.

"I told you we can keep a secret," Dahlia muttered.

"They are so precious and precocious," Jean gushed.

"Pains in the rear you mean," Angelina sighed with a smile.

"With parents and grandparents like they have, it was a matter of time really," Sirius chuckled.

"Yeah, good luck McGonaMum," Harry said.

McGonagall snorted. "You will be there suffering with me, do not think otherwise."

The Championship party was a grand affair.

Miranda spoke with the owners of Portree and they opened the Port pitch to accommodate the party. All the players and staff of Team England were invited with their families, as were the rest of Pride of Portree and more friends.

A combined effort from Flitwick, Babbling, and Dumbledore surprisingly, allowed them to combine memories of the game from different people into a single modified Pensieve. The goal was to provide as clear of a memory as possible with as much detail as possible. Then they set the Pensieve in the middle of a runic circle where it projected the combined memory for them all to watch. They all gathered around and eagerly watched the Championship game together.

"Wow, that is a lot of people," Flora gasped as she looked around the memory of the stadium.

"I'm getting the willies watching the memory of them," Nathan laughed. "I don't know if I could handle playing in front of all of them!"

"Not to mention everyone listening," Sam said, awed.

The first goal by Japan had them all exclaiming.

"They are so fast!" Daphne cried. "I am no player but they looked like they were on maximum acceleration spells!"

"Seeing it like this makes me feel better," Oliver admitted. "At the time I felt like I blinked and they scored. We clearly had to step our game up and luckily it worked out well."

Everyone enjoyed the game, watching the plays and what they did. With the combined memories working in concert, the memory felt more immersive. Details once forgotten shone and they felt like they were there.

"Ooof, that was a hard hit, Tanya," Miranda laughed as she watched the Bludger hit by Tanya knock a Chaser off their broom. Luckily they were fairly low and the player landed on the ground without further injury.

"I was getting desperate in keeping them back at that point," Tanya admitted. "But that was a damn good hit, wasn't it?"

George laughed loudly. "Oh, check out that bloke's face!" They turned the memory back a little so they could see what he was talking about. At one point, Angelina was hit by a glancing blow to the side of her face with a Bludger. Angelina had stopped and turned to stare at the Japanese Beater and calmly wiped a smear of blood off of her cheek and lip with the back of her hand, never breaking eye contact. The Beater had blanched and flown away as fast as he could.

"You frighten me, you Amazonian brute," Alicia chuckled and hugged her best friend.

"I forgot about that," Angelina laughed, blushing a little.

"That's why your face was swollen during one of the breaks," Finn said, shaking his head. "I knew there was an actual reason."

Then they got to the part where Harry was knocked off his broom and they watched with horrid fascination as he tumbled in the air. A few of them whimpered, reminded of the time when he fell off his broom in the middle of a storm high in the air.

Then they saw how he recovered and everyone exploded.

"Wait wait! Stop the play!" Ron shouted. He waited for Dumbledore to wave his wand and the memory froze with the broom just about to land back in Harry's hand. Ron stared at his best friend. "Are you, actually telling me, that you summoned your broom back to you, with the Up command?!"

"In mid-air, with everything else going on, the broom being far from you, and it worked?!" Percy took over.

Everyone stared at Harry and his face turned bright red. "Uh…yeah?"

"And it was not a wandless Summoning Charm that you somehow manifested without the normal incantation?!" Daphne asked, eyes wide.

"Uh…apparently," he replied weakly.

"Daddy is the best," Dahlia said smugly.

"I can't even get the broom to come up normally!" Hermione said crossly. She immediately glared at Tracy and Colette and Luna, "Not one word! You know what I mean!"

"I gather what he did was impressive?" Jean asked.

"Practically unheard of," Thomas said, shaking his head. "Granted, I don't know if many people would actually think to try it in his position, but still, incredibly impressive."

"In all my years of watching Quidditch and working with players and sports healers, I have never seen the like," Lorraine said.

"Me neither," Miranda and Hooch echoed.

"And that's only the second most impressive thing," Sirius said proudly. "Continue the play!"

Everyone watched and gasped as he slid onto the broom with his feet planted and not him mounted. Then they were distracted by the intense Bludger duel that happened between the two Beater teams.

"Whoa, you weren't kidding," Fred said, awed. "That's awesome."

"How many consecutives hits was it?" George gasped.

"Close to twenty," Shelia said. "Not a single miss."

"Please don't tell me you expect me to do that," Nathan begged Tanya.

"I don't want to do that again, I felt like I was hitting a wall for hours after that," Tanya laughed. "I thought my bat was going to break in the middle of it."

They gasped when Harry flew straight up into the middle of the Bludger battle, standing on the broom with his arm outstretched.

"You mad bastard!" Pomfrey shouted, deeply appalled.

"I saw it in person and was deeply frightened then," Apolline said. "Seeing it from this perspective is horrifying!"

"It's like being in the front of a roller coaster," Jean gasped and she winced and flinched at the Bludgers zipping past. "Except there you don't have something trying to kill you!"

"He has bigger balls than those Bludgers," Colette gasped and so shocked by the memory, no one yelled at her for her comment save for some startled coughs and gasps.

The watchers burst out cheering when they saw Harry emerge from the shower of sparks and light with the Snitch in hand. They jumped and cheered and shouted, mirroring the sentiments they had when they first listened to the game and saw it happen. As memory Harry zoomed around the pitch, Andromeda reached out and grabbed his ear. "Do not EVER do that again!" she yelled.

"Hey! You saw me do it before, you're not supposed to get this mad again!" Harry said, wincing as she pulled on it.

"That was from a long distance. I had no idea how much worse it was in reality!" she scolded.

"What possessed you to even fly into that mess in that way?" McGonagall asked, pride and fury mingled on her face.

"Well I knew I'd be flying straight up so if I was mounted like normal, it'd be hard to make flight adjustments. With me standing, I could twitch myself around more easily and I had the reach," Harry said. "Plus I could bend my body a bit and avoid the Bludgers some more, ow MumAndi!"

"And standing like that, a glancing hit would've knocked you off the broom again!" Samantha shouted.

"Uh…the potential benefit outweighed the potential cost?" Harry offered weakly, shrugging.

Oliver grunted when Alicia stepped on his foot. "Hey, ow! I didn't tell him to do that!"

"You and your bloody 'get the Snitch at all costs' mentality that you instilled in him from an early impressionable age!" Alicia said and stomped on his foot again.

"Harry's a grown man and he knows his limits," Oliver said meekly.

"No he doesn't," several voices said in unison.

"Don't you dare do that, ever," Fleur said severely.

"I have no desire to, ever," Gabrielle said solemnly.

"Potter, if you ever do that during a game, win or lose, I'm punishing you. Get it?" Miranda glared at her Seeker.

"Yes, Coach."

"Didn't think you'd say that," Sam laughed.

"I like my players whole, thank you," Miranda sniffed. "Also, frankly, the way those witches are glaring at him gives me the willies and they aren't focused on me. I never want them to glare at me like that."

"Look, the important thing is that we won," Harry said. He quailed a bit as the looks intensified. "I mean, nothing bad happened, and then we won."

"I hope you are not about to chime in with an 'all's well that ends well' as you usually do," McGonagall muttered.

Dumbledore chuckled richly. "Not at all. I do not need anyone upset at me. Watching someone else be the target of well-deserved collective ire is a delight."

Remus shook his head. "James would have been so proud of you and Lily would have been deeply upset."

"She'd be proud first, she always appreciated when someone did something incredible," Sirius laughed. "But then afterwards, yeah, she'd tear you so many new ones, sew you up, then do it all over again."

"What a way to watch the game," David said. "Magic is pretty incredible."

"That's what I say a lot," Harry chuckled.

"One of the best World Cup games I have ever seen," Dumbledore said warmly. "Splendid playing, all of you."

They restarted the memory so people could watch it again. As they did, Oliver winked broadly at Harry and walked over to something that had stood at the side of the pitch, covered by a tarp. "Now, since this is a proper Championship party, I just had to do something to make sure it felt like one."

"Oh no, you didn't," Alicia groaned.

"I did." Oliver threw the tarp off and revealed replicas of the World Cup. "The official cup is at the Ministry of course but I used a chunk of my bonus to get these made for every player and staff member on the team." He handed them out and people fawned over them. His smile broadened. "Oi! Fred! George! Bring the butterbeer!"

The original team, save for Alicia, and the ones in Harry's year and under, cheered and Fred and George came running over with barrels of butterbeer.

"What's going on?" Andromeda asked.

"A rather horrific but sweet tradition," Alicia said, shaking her head but smiling.

"You like it," Angelina said, pushing Alicia slightly.

"Don't go about saying it," Alicia said, pushing her back.

"You are not going to drink a giant Quidditch Cup's worth of butterbeer," Tanya gasped.

"I sure am! We did this my last year at Hogwarts when we won our School Cup. I knew I was going to drink out of it and I swore if we won this one, we'd drink out of it. To the brim!" He smiled as he looked down at the large vessel, filled with golden butterbeer. He lifted it, straining slightly until Harry took his place at the base. "Just like old times," Oliver said warmly.

"Drink it dry, Captain!" Harry cried.

"Not one drop missed!" Oliver lifted it and started gulping, drinking smoothly and easily. The watchers cheered and laughed and applauded when he finished drinking it, shaking it upside down and not a single drop fell out. He put a hand on his stomach and winced slightly, "A little harder now than it was then," he laughed.

"My turn!" Angelina watched as Fred and George filled hers and with Harry's assistance, she lifted it high and drank deeply. Some spilled from the edges and ran down her chin and front but she continued to guzzle, emboldened by the cheers from friends and family. She set it down and stifled a belch, also wincing but then smiling broadly. "That was fun!"

Harry put his arm around Katie's waist. "Together?"

Her smile outshone the sun. "Together."

They lifted the full cup together and Katie drank first. Dahlia clapped her hands with delight and Samantha and Thomas laughed at the sight as she drank from the hilariously large replica. With it roughly half empty, she held it steady for Harry to finish the rest.

Memories of the first time and every time after, drinking an absurd amount of butterbeer at once, filled his mind. He felt wetness on his cheeks and he knew it was not from butterbeer but did not care. He drank every single drop of that sweet fizzy liquid and savored every single drop. It was as sweet as the first time he drank it, and he knew it would be sweet every time after, no matter what the occasion.

They shook the upside-down cup and everyone applauded when no drops fell wasted.

The Weasleys all cheered loudly and wildly as Ginny took her turn. When she belched noisily, Molly and Percy groaned and the twins and Charlie and Ron and Bill applauded even more uproariously. Everyone watched as others partook of the tradition, laughing and enjoying the festive atmosphere.

"You did that after your Championship wins?" Andromeda asked, a warm smile on her lips.

"They did, though they didn't do something else this time," Hermione teased.

"Oooh, what?" Jean asked.

Harry chuckled as he watched the bunnies try to emulate their parents and drink from his cup, which devolved into them splashing water at each other or pouring the cup over each other. "Each drinker would kiss someone after they finished. Either someone they fancied or a friend or a sibling."

"Who started that?" Ted asked, laughing.

"Oliver. Defiling me in front of everyone," Alicia said, giving her husband a smoldering look.

"You leaned into it," Fred said and dodged a swipe.

"That was our first kiss," Harry said wistfully. "First time I ever kissed someone too."

Samantha sighed softly, her hand over her heart at the expressions on Harry and Katie's faces.

"It was a pretty good one," she teased and pulled him to her lips.

"I'm sure I've gotten better," he protested, laughing against her lips.

"You could practice more," she murmured. She ignored Lyla's gagging and flipped her off as she kissed Harry again.

Sirius sighed softly. "Disgustingly sweet and still in love. Just like his parents."

Remus snorted. "Not much like James and Lily at all, or have you forgotten how much they fought for the first six years or so."

"Only five and a half, as James would say," Sirius smiled sadly. "No, you're right. These two didn't fight like hell to get there but James and Lily were disgustingly sweet to one another once they did. I bet if they were still here, they'd be grossing us out constantly."

"There is nothing gross about this," Andromeda said, her smile softening her sharp tone. "It is very warming and sweet."

"At least Katie's not hexing us," Sirius said softly.

"I can ask her to, for old time's sake," Harry offered.

"Remember when I said your sense of humor is like your mother's? Stop it," Sirius said, waggling a finger.

"Look at what you've started," Katie said a little later. They watched as the various professional Quidditch players that came to the party tried surfing on their brooms, with most falling off almost immediately.

Harry chuckled. "Yeah, but I can actually do it."

"Oooh, someone's getting a bit of an ego," she teased.

"Is that a bad thing?" he asked, smiling.

"No, a small one is okay," she said, holding him close. "It can be nice."

"You're nice," he retorted.

"I sure am," she smiled.

"Katie?"

"Yes love?"

"Thank you for everything."

"That's my line," she whispered and kissed him soundly.

jouve25 - Thank you for the incredibly kind words. I don't know much about art or athletics, at least in my mind, but don't mind doing a bit of research so I can maintain some believability and integrity. I am a big fan of food in general so I like to learn about that when I can. I do not write professionally but it has been a dream of mine. Writing consistently for a year now has somewhat made me think that I possibly could have something published one day.

No Vigilance - Hope you like today's chapter then.

DOOOOOOM Lord of Waffles - Unless it is a one shot, I typically will announce when the end of a fic is coming. Glad you liked the chapter. I thought it would be fun to reference the beginning some, especially with how Oliver and Angelina remembering Harry's first game.

Mattyb4678 - Do not tell me what to write. Whenever someone does that, it demeans what I have written already and makes me think that they aren't paying attention to what I have done and only want to see what they deem important.

guest - Thank you so very much. It felt right to have Angelina and Oliver think about Harry's first game and I really wanted last chapter to feel like a culmination of the entire story from the very beginning. That's why in the last one and this one I have a lot of callbacks and references. I'm glad you've stuck with the story and continue to enjoy it.

1529 - Thank you for reading. It's been a bit since I did a sequential series of chapters and it was fun to do that for this.

alix33 - I imagined that Hedwig, Crookshanks, and Bailey would be celebrating just as much.

Guest - Thank you.

FanfictionFanGirl59 - So good to see you. Glad to see you still enjoying the story.

Urgwaew - Tanuki are pretty popular in pop culture. Rocky and Pocky was an old video game with a Shrine Maiden and a Tanuki and there's a movie called Pom Poko that show them off. The peculiar trait is something you will have to look up, it's a bit much to type out. As you know, I wanted to make the game feel real and like a good game, not just a set piece. Quidditch games are as important as the players in them and since it was building up over the last few chapters, I wanted to make the World Cup to be magnificent.

I also had a sense of nostalgia for the beginning of Family and comparing my latest to my first has been eye opening. I wanted it to feel like a capstone chapter, one that has really exemplified everything that came before it, so I'm glad you liked it and thought it fit the theme and feel. I've always been a bit shy of being proud of my work, smacking of pride and all that. That being said, I am very happy with how things have changed from back then to now and feel I have done a lot and improved. I've been okay, work has been intense of late but that's the time of year. I hope you are doing well and my best to you.
