Lee bounced up to Hinata with files in hand as she got out of the elevator.
"Already?" Hinata put her bag down, accepting the files. "I thought you said you were taking the morning off."
"Already done," Lee grinned. "Oh! I couldn't find the sales reports."
"On my desk." Hinata pointed. "Did you book the venue for next month's Marketing…"
Lee nodded. "And the caterer. Special request for no seafood."
"Good." Hinata pulled out her phone, checking the schedules. "The director should be back from his lunch by 1:30. Can you take him to his meetings this afternoon? Suna asked me to stop by to fix some of our recent production issues."
"Yep." Lee rocked back on his heels.
Hinata corrected her schedule before tucking away her phone. Hinata looked at him and flicked her hand down. Lee lowered his head down to let her straighten his bow tie. "Keep up the good work."
Lee beamed. He was light to have around on a bad day.
Hinata kicked off her heels, stepping into her living room. Sasuke was already on her couch, flipping through a document he laid out on the coffee table. "Didn't you just scold me for bringing work home yesterday?"
"These numbers don't make sense." Sasuke flipped between two pages.
Hinata slipped herself beside him to look over the documents. She skimmed them to get context. "Which figures." Sasuke took his pen a circled a few sections. Hinata picked up the papers and leaned back to read more in dept.
Sasuke leaned back against the couch with her. "Marketing doesn't have enough accounting classes."
"Your father wanted you to be a business major." Hinata chastised, flipping the page.
Sasuke made a face, leaning closer to see what she was seeing. "Can you not be my father's parrot."
"That's my job." Hinata yelped as Sasuke bit her shoulder. "Ow!"
Sasuke pouted childishly. "You deserve it."
"Here, you figure this out on your own then." Hinata started to get up. Sasuke caught around her waist before she could stand, pulling her back down on his lap.
"No. This is your job." Sasuke tapped the paper.
"Then don't be a pain when I'm trying to help you." Hinata scolded, turning her attention back to the figures. "These numbers are fine."
"Then you're going to explain it to me because this margin seems too low to get this total." Sasuke put his head on her shoulder.
Hinata eyed him in case he opened his mouth again. "You're missing this in your calculation." She pointed to a figure he didn't circle.
Sasuke made a face at the number, groaning in frustration.
"This is what accounting classes are for," Hinata tossed the paper down, laying her arms on his across her ribs. Why was this so comfortable? "Let me up. I need to change." Hinata tapped his arm, but they didn't release. Sasuke flopped over, taking her with him to bounce onto the couch cushions.
"I'd rather nap," Sasuke grumbled into her shoulder.
"I'm not sleeping in office clothes." Hinata wiggled out of his grip. "And you shouldn't either. Itachi left lounge clothes in the spare room. Go change."
Sasuke made a face. "Hey, did you find out who your cousin's living with?"
"No, I don't even know who he would have known. The only friend I remember him having in school is career military. She's not getting out anytime soon." In fact, she had a letter for Tenten sitting around here somewhere. "I can't even think of an old flame because I can't remember him dating his school."
"So I don't lose my crash spot?" That's what he was worried about?
Hinata's set her hands on her hips. "Your mother's going to start looking here first."
"You're worth it." Hinata made a face. Cheesy.
A car stopped in front of her. Lee opened the back door. Fugaku stepped out, straightening his suit. "Is he here yet?"
"His car should be right behind yours," Hinata confirmed. "Lee-san, can I have a moment? I needed to shift something around this afternoon because… " Hinata pulled him to the side to show him the change.
While they were talking, another car pulled. Neji stepped out. Lee headed back to the car the director got out of, but before he got in, he spotted Neji and aggressively waved. Neji looked taken aback and did a double-take at him.
Lee had that effect on people.
Neji pointed at him with his mouth open, but before he could say something rude, Hinata slipped her arm into his. "Neji-san, this is director, Fugaku Uchiha. Director, this is my paternal cousin, Neji Hyuga."
Fugaku shook his hand. "I won't hold that against you."
Neji hesitated. "No, sir?"
Fugaku smiled. "Well, he sounds like you." Hinata pulled her awkward cousin into the restaurant to save him from more teasing from the director. "I hear you just retired from the military." Fugaku started while Hinata ordered.
"Yes, sir," Neji nodded.
"Do you have any plans?" Neji's face straighten. "University?"
"I haven't really had time to think about it," Neji admitted. "The Military would pay for it, but I haven't decided on a major. I still have to find a civilian job."
"I was hoping to help you with that." Fugaku waved his hand at Hinata. "Hinata and I spend a lot of time being shipped around town for meetings. With Hinata's new status as future Uchiha, she's already been cornered by reporters and my ex-wife. I need her to have her own driver." Hinata looked between them. Fugaku didn't tell her about this. "What do you think?"
"I don't understand." Neji shook his head. "Why would you want to hire me?"
"You have a good character, witness." Fugaku grinned at Hinata. "And I would like to know she is with someone I can trust. She's very valuable."
Hinata's face twitched into a frown. Now he was playing it up. "Director, I wish you would have talked to me about this."
Fugaku put his hands up. "We talked about your cousin." He knew that's not what she meant. "Have him in tomorrow to talk about salary and hours."
Hinata ducked her head into her phone instinctively, leaning over to Neji to see when he would be able to come in. Neji eyed her but gave her an answer.
"Now that that's settled." Fugaku clapped his hands. "I heard you met my son." He was trying to start a fight, wasn't he?
Sasuke held his finger up to his assistant. "Ask me again, and you'll end up like the last assistant I had." Her face fell as she settled back at her desk.
"You're turning into dad more every day." Itachi came up behind him. Sasuke's face scrunched in disgust. Itachi nodded his head toward the pouting assistant. "What did she want?"
"She wants to know about how I proposed." Sasuke eyed him. "What are you doing here?"
"Looking for your fiancée. Her schedule has her out for lunch, thought I might catch her here." Itachi held up a folder.
"She's having lunch with dad and her cousin. They should be back soon, but I doubt they'll stop here. Lee should be at his desk." Sasuke pointed up.
"No, I need Hinata for this." Itachi crossed his arms, leaning on the wall. "What's her cousin like."
"Quiet, awkward, protective older brother." Sasuke described before his eyebrows knit together. "Your nose is bleeding."
Itachi flinched, tucking his hand under his nose. "Dry air's been getting me all week." He pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket that already had blood on it. Must have happened today already. "If you see Hinata tell her I'm looking for her, okay." Itachi tipped his head back, heading back down the hall.
Sasuke nodded. Eyeing his brother as he went down the hall. It had been raining all week.
Sasuke was wrong. Hinata did stop at his desk when she got back, looking thoroughly done with his father the moment she got off the elevator. She bypassed his assistant, who tried to stop her, flopping herself down into the chair across from him, giving him the wariest of looks. "Your father is trying to kill me."
Sasuke chuckled at her dramatics. "What has he done now?"
Hinata whimpered. "He hired Neji-san as my driver."
Sasuke leaned back a raised an eyebrow. "Is that a problem?"
"I love him, but he worries. We fed him a lot of information at once, and I don't think that he has had time to process it, but if he sees the messes as they happen, he's going to fuss." Hinata rubbed her temple.
Hinata was melting into her chair in her frustration. "I know you just came back from lunch, but do you want to head out for coffee?"
Hinata huffed, sitting up. "Can't. I have to have the director prepped for a television appearance."
"I can stop by after work with cake and wine." Sasuke chuckled as her face snapped to annoyance with him. "Just cake. It's the last time you see me before I go abroad for the international product launch."
"How did I get tied up with Uchiha men?" Hinata said under her breath as she pushed open his door.
