I know it has been a long time. But I hope that you enjoy the chapter.

"...so then this 'Old Huntress' picked you up and threw you out of the forest, but caused your wounds in the process." Kaien said. "You do realize you sound insane, right?"

I gave him a deadpan look. "Do you think that I inflicted this kind of damage on myself? How would I even fake these teeth marks?" I had immediately snuck to Kaien's room after waking up from the nightmare, careful not to drip blood on the floor. I was just thankful that neither Zero or Yuki had been woken up by my screaming.

"I'm not saying that I don't believe you," he responded. "But you do realize that this is completely unprecedented right? I have never, in all my years and career, heard of something like this happening."

"I know it's strange, but after literally being hurt by a dream of all things, I can't regard them as just dreams anymore." I stated. "What's more, I have a feeling that the bite will never fully heal. That I'll always have the scar." This was quite unusual, as most surface level wounds would fail to scar a hunter. "And, and-"

"You're afraid that this will act like a pureblood bite." Kaien deduced. "The creature did mention giving you a gift."

"Yeah" We sat together in silence for a bit, wrestling with the implication.

"Do you feel any changes or… urges, that you didn't before." He queried.

"No, nothing yet."

"But you suspect you might in the future?"

My heart was filled with dread. "I don't know what to expect."

I eventually cleaned and bandaged myself up in the bathroom and went back to bed, though I didn't sleep. I just tossed and turned for a few hours until morning. When morning finally came and I checked my injuries, I was relieved to see that I had healed. I was far less relieved to see that I had been right about the scars. They looked massive, and it was very obvious that I had spent time in some large creatures' mouth.

I went through my morning routine, but as I was getting out of the shower I noticed something odd in the bathroom mirror. My eyes had changed. Before, they had been a light hazel with a slightly golden hue. They were now yellow. A deep yellow. Like the eyes of a wolf. And with that somewhat disturbing realization, I threw on some clothes and went to see Kaien.

I snuck over to his room, being careful since I would probably have trouble explaining my eyes to Zero or Yuki.

I found Kaien dressed in his usual morning wear, about to leave his room.

"Hey Kaien, it looks like I might need some help." I whispered.

His eyes shot to mine and widened in realization. "Well, it seems like a good time to introduce you to another aspect of the hunters toolkit."

It turned out that most full fledged hunters had their own disguise sets, complete with color contacts. Hell, you could even dye them into new colors. It took Kaien around ten to fifteen minutes, but he managed to whip up some contacts with my old light hazel. Then it was a whole other debacle to put them on.

Finally we both went down to the breakfast parlor. There we found Yuki, Zero, and Kaname, all waiting for me and Kaien to make breakfast as we usually did. Wait, shit, SHIT! I had completely forgotten that Kaname, the pureblood vampire, had stayed the night! Kaname, who probably heard me wake up screaming! Kaname, who had definitely smelled the blood! Kaname, who had a knowing look on his face!

I then looked at Zero, who had a confused look on his face as he sniffed the air. His senses were nowhere near as good as Kanames, but he could probably smell something now that I was in the room. He also didn't look too happy to be sitting at the table with Kaname, but at least there were no attacks.

And I finally looked at Yuki… who was thankfully off in her own little world at the moment.

As I pretended that nothing was wrong, I went over to the kitchen to start slicing some bacon. I glanced at Kaien, who had a very smug look on his face.

That bastard.

After breakfast, during which I endured funny looks from both Kaname and Zero the entire time, along with the insufferable smugness of Kaien, I helped Yuki get ready for school and waved her off as she left with Kaien who would walk her there. As soon as they were out of sight, I was grabbed by both Zero and Kaname as they dragged my off, despite my protests.

We eventually got to the training field, where they finally let me go and I fell to the ground.

"What the hell guys?" I exclaimed.

"What do you mean 'what the hell'?" Zero said. "What in god's name happened to you? You smell like a dog!"

"He does smell like a dog, doesn't he?" Kaname added. "Maybe it has to do with the screaming I heard and the blood I smelled last night."

Zero looked alarmed. "The. What!" he yelled at me.

"Look guys, I don't really know what happened" I stated. "All I know is that I had a terrifying and painful nightmare and woke up with this." I pulled up my shirt, showing my scars. Both of them looked wide eyed.

"Shit." Said Zero.

"I concur." Kaname stated. "That looks like a lot more than a dream."

"That's not all." I said, taking off my contacts. "Earlier, when I was getting ready for the day I noticed these."

"Well that certainly isn't creepy." Zero said sarcastically, staring at my yellow eyes.

"I don't know, I think they look rather dashing." Kaname stated. "I know Takuma would like them. That, and your new 'animalistic musk'."

"Can you please not call it that?" I begged. "Also, you know I don't swing that way."

"Takuma doesn't." Kaname replied with an amused grin.

I snorted. "Bastard." I was going to have to deal with that issue, sooner rather than later. The last few times I had hung out with Takuma and Kaname had been awkward as hell, having to ignore the constant looks of interest I got sent by Takuma which he probably thought were subtle. I felt bad, but at the same time I didn't want to let Takuma's crush last too long. If it did, he'd end up hurt.

Kaname then gained an inquisitive look. "Is this the first time you've had such dreams?"

"Well, no…" I replied. "But it is the first time I've gotten injured from one."

"This has happened before and you didn't say anything!" Zero yelled.

"Well not precise-" I started to say.

"Someone's going to need to keep you alive." Zero proclaimed authoritatively. "God knows you can't do it on your own." He and Kaname shared a look. A look of understanding. Was this seriously how Zero got over Kaname being a vampire, and they became friends? In the biggest pain in the ass way for me? Really!

I had a lot of fun writing this chapter, especially the set up for future DRAMA! I hope you all enjoyed reading it!
