Epilogue

It was a Saturday at Higgin's house for the team to meet Rebecca's daughter Sabrina, and for Rebecca and Sam to make their first team outing as a couple, when Roy first saw the newest love of his life.

His phone buzzed in his pocket at the same time as Jamie's made a noise. He didn't both moving to retrieve it, just stayed where he was while Jamie pulled his phone out.

"Yes," Jamie said and shoved the phone in front of him. "The scans finally come through."

Roy looked down at the fuzzy photo on Jamie's phone. The other man had gone to his first scan with Anya that morning, but there was an issue with the clinic's internet, and they hadn't been able to send through the pictures. Roy didn't really know what he was looking at, but he knew that somewhere in that picture was Jamie's child and he knew he was going to fucking love this kid. When Ruth had been pregnant, he had been impressed with all of the little pictures, but he hadn't realised he was going to love Phoebe like he did until the moment she was placed into his arms in the hospital. She was tiny, and pink and looked up at him with eyes so big he knew he'd love her forever and would fucking destroy anyone who hurt her. He already knew he'd fuck up anyone who hurt this kid when they were born.

Roy pressed his knee more tightly into Jamie's thigh and smiled down at the image. "That's your kid."

"I know," Jamie looked at him with wide eyes, full of wonder and worry.

"I love you."

"Love you too," Jamie leaned over and kissed him.

"Uncle Roy," Phoebe called. He peeked one eye open and hit her with the water pistol.

"Impressive," Keeley said, sitting down near them. Jamie kissed him again and pulled back.

"Hey, Keeley."

"You two look pretty smug."

"It's love, innit?" Jamie said, sliding his phone away.
