The activities around the camp are restless. Many inhabitants are picking, preparing and loading their belongings so that they can be ready for their next destination. The nomadic lifestyle demands them to always be adaptable and not be accustomed to one location. That way, they can move as swift as the wind itself, and be untouchable by roaming bandits and warlords. To them, life has no destination, and may the Eternal Sky watch over them...

"Sarangerel, make sure you pack your clothes and put in onto the bisons." Saran said as she slowly dismantled the tent. "And make sure we didn't left anything behind!"

As the humans are busying with organizing their luggage, the bisons are not as worried about their schedule. They only remain still as their human companions loaded their supplies and equipment onto their large bodies. Since bisons are such strong animals, they have the capacity to carry plenty of belongings such as weapons, armor and other life necessities all the while being able to fly. This makes them the near perfect way to transportation.

As everyone else are dismantling their tents, Sarangerel notice that someone is missing. Her father is gathered at an important meeting with the Khan to discuss the next move for their clan, and she knew Batu would not be interested in that kind of boring meeting.

This could only mean one thing. Sarangerel looked towards the direction of where the sky bison field is located. That is where the other bisons are, and it's also where Tenzin is testing the young people with the Avatar relics. She doesn't care whether or not if there is an Avatar inside their camp, but she is worried about her brother.

Without thinking much, she walked towards that location. The baby bison looked at her, and decided to follow. It hovered quietly on Sarangerel's side, and togather, they both went to where the Air-nomads are.

...

"That's where they are," Batu said, he still couldn't believe that Mayumi and Satchiko wanted to meet those four. If it were up to him, he would expel them out last night. While he doesn't question the Khan for allowing them to perform this Avatar 'ritual' thing, he is still a bit bitter that these people showed up in the most inconvenient time possible. He just hope that the Kyoshi warriors are not too offended by the disaster from last night.

His two friends are dressed in their full outfit. With their backpacks all readied, they arrived here in their full kit. Of course, the facial paints are completed as well.

Satchiko glanced at the site. A large line of participantss have gathered here. They ranged mostly from little infants all the way to young adults. Guards are stationed around the area to keep a good watch on the proceedings. While the air-nomad's sole intention is make sure that there is no Avatar here, the lingering mistrust kept them on alert. Treating the four as possible enemies.

Parents also stayed close, some children are too young to act by themselves. It is much easier to kidnap air-benders when they are young and immature.

"Yeah, sorry." A little young girl in brown deel said to Tenzin. "I don't recognize any of these four toys. If only I can actually keep them." Her voice was friendly enough, not the usual hostile interaction which Tenzin have anticipated. "I guess I'm not the Avatar!" She stated happily. She then hurried back to her mother, who picked her up and carried the child back to her home.

"Sis," Satchiko addressed Mayumi informally."Now that we are here, will you please tell us why you wanted to meet those air-nomads?"

Mayumi watched as the next participant inspected the toys thoroughly, the kid played around with the toys for a bit, and return it back to Tenzin after losing interest. "I want you to be part of that line," Mayumi stated to Satchiko.

Both the younger Kyoshi warrior and Batu are confused at where this is going. Even though Mayumi's intentions are very obvious.

"Why?" Was all Satchiko asked, almost questioning about her sister's request.

Mayumi looked at her sister, whose signature brown hair is displayed very clearly to the world to see. They say that there are things in this world that look ordinary. But beneath that is a whole world hidden in plain sight.

"How do I put this?" Mayumi struggled to frame her intentions for her sister. "You know how the world still don't have an Avatar?" She put it as lightly as possible.

"Yeeeaaaah?" Satchiko awkwardly answered. Everyone knew that the Avatar has not been found yet. To go one step further, there might not even be a new Avatar in the first place.

"I want you to wait in that line and see you are familiar with any of those four toys. You know, to see if you are the one." Mayumi's words were very straightforward. No consideration was made to cater to Satchiko's apparent surprise.

"The Avatar is no more!" Batu exclaimed, jumping up and down to express his statement. "It's just going to be a waste of time!" His frustration is vented by him stomping his feet on the ground. He has suddenly become very irritable since the introduction of what his most hated people.

"He is right. Besides, I might be a bit too old to be playing with toys." Satchiko echoed, surprising the young airbender who thought there would be more resistance than just that. "I mean, what are the chances of something like that happening? The Avatar would be a very strong bender, I can't even bend Earth properly."

Satchiko then looked at her hands, feeling a bit ashamed by her lack of dedication to practicing Earth bending. For some reason, she have never very felt the urge to move pieces of the earth and throw it towards the bandits. But after fighting people like Tu and Shui, it's clear she is disadvantaged when the opponent are very skilled at using their elements. If she continues to use only her war fans, then she will definitely one day find herself outmatched by bending foes.

With a heavy sigh, she decided to return to do something more productive. "Let's go Batu, we still need to help Sarangerel and Saran."

But before Satchiko can turn around and leave the site, Mayumi eagerly placed her hands on her shoulder. Satchiko looked at Mayumi, slightly caught off guard by this unexpected persistence. She doesn't know why her sister insists her to partake in the trial.

"There are reasons why I want you to do it," Mayumi said very closed up. "I wish you can tell me see if you are familiar with any of those toys." The older Kyoshi warrior reasoned, trying not to be too invasive. "If there is even the tiniest chance that you might be the Avatar, then I want to be absolutely sure that my sister isn't delayed from her reaching her full potential."

"You sounded like mum," Satchiko joked, trying to lighten this suddenly tense mood.

"Thank you!" Mayumi accepted it as a compliment. "It seems that I have taken mother's more sensible side. Too bad you got the other half!"

Satchiko chuckled a little. It's funny how often people would compare the two sisters as having different personality traits inherited from their mother, with Satchiko labeled as the impulsive and energetic one while Mayumi described as being much more mature and conservative sister.

"Well, even if I might be an Avatar, what am I supposed to do? Wouldn't I be able to talk to Kyoshi herself by now? Surely, if I was somehow the reincarnation of Kyoshi, she would have somehow 'talk' to me and tell me to protect Kyoshi island at all cost. Or maybe, she said something, un, like..." Satchiko took her time to think about a quote that Kyoshi might say. When she finally decided, she tried to imitate Kyoshi's voice, which no one knew what it sounds like. "Maybe something like 'You are my legacy'. You know, how I just so happens to be the Avatar AND a Kyoshi warrior at the same time. Cool idea eh?"

"But you can't know for sure," Mayumi eagerly reminded her more carefree sister. "Not every Avatar knows they are the chosen one until later in life. The last Avatar Korra learnt how to bend three elements when she was just four years of age, but many Avatars don't have the privilege to achieve that."

Korra. Satchiko remembered the name from last night. It was a point of contention between Temujin and Tenzin. One argues she is an utter failure while the other one fiercely defended her legacy. An Avatar that learnt how to manipulate three elements at such a young age is certainly something to be envied of, especially by someone like Satchiko, who bend only pebbles.

"You two!" Batu said with renewed fury. He used a bit of air-bending to draw some attention. A swift breeze brought the two Kyoshi warriors to listen to his word.

"It doesn't matter if there is another Avatar in this world. We can protect ourselves much better than just some random person who can bend all four elements." Batu stated vigorously. "Avatars are known for only one thing and one thing only, making big mistakes, and then leave every else to deal with it!"

Despite his immaturity and lack of education, he is not wrong, almost every Avatar have made at least one mistake that they are not proud of. Kyoshi, despite her prominent legacy to the world, have her own fair share of problems that negatively affected the world's future. Mistakes like the a certain group of people who brought down the wall of Ba Sing Se after they betrayed the very people they were meant to serve.

"Satchiko, I have my reasons for you to be in that line, but I don't think it is my place to tell you why exactly." Mayumi's wording cause Satchiko to pay attention. "There are some things in this world that are important to us all, and it is also important to our mother!"

Satchiko widened her eyes. "What is it?" She suddenly feel the urge to know. "Did mum wanted something?"

"I can't tell you," Mayumi closed it.

"But...why? We are sisters." Satchiko said. She didn't anticipate that this would suddenly involve Akahana. This is probably the first time Mayumi isn't being honestly to her.

Mayumi tried to appease Satchiko with a logical reasoning, something that can justify the withhold of information. "It's complicated," Mayumi stated. "I already told you enough, our mother wants something, and only the Avatar can provide. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I think it would save us a lot of trouble if maybe, just maybe..."

"If I just so happens to be the Avatar," Satchiko finished the sentence firmly. It did saved Mayumi the trouble. But they are sisters after all, being together for literally every single day of their lives have already developed a deep understanding for one another, their aspirations, goals and even what they are afraid of.

"Fine, I will go and test myself, since it's so important for you." Satchiko reluctantly agreed to Mayumi's request, trying to hide her dissatisfaction that Mayumi refuse to tell her the secrets. The older sister's face brightened at this development. "But only in one condition, if for some reason some does happen to me, you must tell me everything you know about our mother what she wants from the Avatar."

Mayumi, a bit hesitant, unwilling agreed. Even if the chance of Satchiko being identified as the Avatar is extremely slim, which itself is an understatement, that would mean Mayumi must fulfill this promise and possibly open Satchiko to new conflicts she was never exposed to. However, there are so many people in the Earth Kingdom, anyone else could be the Avatar. What are the chances that the next Earth Avatar would have such a close connection to the last Earth Avatar Kyoshi. It would be highly unlikely, and unrealistic that a Kyoshi warrior would be the next Avatar.

"My goal was to always protect Kyoshi island, even though I miss my home a lot, I still want mum to be proud and happy that I have reached my full potential." Satchiko grasped her hands into a fist. The reminder of what her mother said inside the temple suddenly gave her a new motivation to master Earth bending. She wants to get to Ba Sing Se as soon as possible. After learning how to bend Earth, she will come back to Kyoshi island, stronger and a better protector of her home.

The two Kyoshi warriors walked towards the long line of people. Batu stayed behind, watching their backs with disdained look. He crossed his arms, and leaned on a nearby tent. Little did he know, the tent's owner is in the process of unpacking it. When whole tent's support was forcefully pulled apart, Batu fell with the tent, collapsing on the ground.

A few people passing by who saw this laughed a little. Batu responded by withdrawing his stern expression. He quickly picked himself up, and pretended that nothing has happened.

"How embarrassing" Batu muttered to himself.

...

On the other side of the bison's field, Tenzin and his three associates continued to test and monitor this proceeding to find the Avatar. While it's true that the likelihood of the Avatar being here is minuscule, they still must be absolutely certain there isn't one just hiding under their noses.

With every failed trial, their confidence took a hit. They already have the major obstacle of search the Avatar in a land with so many people. It's similar to searching a needle in a stack of hay, while difficult, it's technically not impossible as long as the needle in somewhere in the pile of hay,

"Yeah, sorry, I don't think someone like me looks good playing these." A male teenager at the front of line chuckled as he is presented with the four relics. He isn't familiar with any four of the toys. Growing up as nomad that moves from one place to another have exposed people like him to many toys from many Earth Kingdom lands.

But the only one children here possess were small animal bones that is painted in bright colors. The games of Shagai, that was what the Khan called it. You toss the bones like dice, played it by knocking the other person's bone out. So many different games all because of a few pieces of animal bones.

The boy picked up his bow, and stepped aside, allowing the next participant to test themselves before the toys.

Tenzin only sighed heavily as more attempts failed. While he never expected to get lucky, the feeling of not fulfilling his duty as the Air Nation's leader always lingers his every breath. It's not that the air-nomads are expecting him to locate the Avatar immediately, they are after all a very understanding and compassionate people. But he doesn't want to disappoint the many head monks and head nuns of the new Council of Eldars, who have devoted faith into Tenzin's quest by lending the four relics to him. He still remembered their hope and enthusiasm when he first proposed using the relics to locate the Avatar.

Despite certain opposition from some of the eldars who fear that the relics might be damaged and lost forever, Yee-Li, Xing Ying and Jingbo wholeheartedly supported his request. Those three are the earliest Air-Acolytes, following his father to create the foundation to revive and maintain the extinct air-nomad culture. Tenzin is grateful that they were there to support him, just like how they were there to support his own father.

Now that he thought about it, the non-bending air acolytes are very just a fan club originally made of a bunch of little girls. Who would have thought they would become a vital part of his people, playing a vital role in his culture's revival.

"Dad," Jinora said from the side, breaking Tenzin out of his thought process. "Want to show the toys to the next one?"

Tenzin immediately stopped what he was thinking, he completely forgot that he is still has a job to do. "Ahem, sorry I was distracted, next please!"

Many people stepped forward, all trying their luck to see if they are the Avatar. Although the younger children are more disappointed that they cannot keep the toys. Some don't even remember who the last Avatar is, and are only keen to play around with the four toys as if it belonged to them.

As Jinora and Tenzin continued to their work, the two other unknown air-nomads watched from their bison. Even until now, their identity are still being hidden by the orange hood they are wearing. The guards around the site kept their eyes on them. They knew Tenzin and Jinora wouldn't do anything that would damage their reputation, even if they disagree tremendously with them, Tenzin is still the son of Aang. The guards are aware, that they can at least tolerate this man's presence. As for the two hooded figures, they are more cautious. Who knows who those two are and what they want. Those two just stood next to the bison, which Tenzin called Oogi, which is just staring at the whole process. They clearly don't look suspicious at all!

As the last participant finished the test, Tenzin decided to fold up the toys and head back to Oogi. While they did not find the Avatar, their hearts can at least be at peace, knowing that they didn't exclude this small niche of people.

"Dad, not yet." Jinora said. She then pointed at two figures walking towards them.

Tenzin turned around, surprised that there is still people left. He had completely forgotten that there are two Kyoshi warriors in the camp.

Mayumi stepped forward, and greeted Jinora and the senior monk by bowing a down little. With both hands placed on the sides of her legs, she lowered her back and honored them. Satchiko also followed suit, mimicking Mayumi's more fluent etiquette. Compared to her, Satchiko still have a long way to go before she can be considered a woman with good manners. But the younger girl mostly just wanted to leave a goof first impression on the old air-bending master, who is probably the most important air-bender at this point in time. Seriously, this is the son of Aang himself! He and his father have came to Kyoshi island before both sisters are even born.

"It's an honor to finally meet you master Tenzin," Mayumi addressed him with appropriate courtesy both in language and posture. "We have heard many stories about you when we are younger. We cannot thank you enough for your father's courageous action in saving our village during the One Hundred Years War."

This event is obviously referring to Aang saving Suki's village from being burned down by the fire nation. The story of how a little boy rodr the Unagi to put out the fire is one of those stories children would often hear. To them, it's like a legend, so unbelievable, yet not entirely impossible for someone as legendary as an Avatar. Kyoshi herself have done even more remarkable things, like creating a whole island.

Tenzin and Jinora also bowed down to greet the Kyoshi warriors, they put their palms together, which is applied by every air-nomad to greet others. "There is no need to thank me," Tenzin politely replied to Mayumi's praises. He is not a reflection of his father, therefore, what Aang has done for Kyoshi island does not carry over to him. "It's great to see you Kyoshi warriors again! The last time I met you two was a long time ago, when my father and I rode the elephant koi."

Hold on.

"Sir," Mayumi addressed. "I think you have mistaken us for someone else. We are born after that period." She politely reminded the monk, hoping to clear up some potential misunderstanding here.

"Oh right!" Tenzin felt embarrassed. He was actually referring to Kyoshi warriors as a whole. Since every single one of them looks near a identical, it's easy to just generalize them into one person.

"My bad, I'm supposed to say that it's great to once again meet the Kyoshi warriors from the island."

"It's ok," Mayumi quickly explained. "We are just here to say hello, and pay respect to you all." She then bowed slightly again. As Mayumi explained the purpose of their journey to Tenzin, Satchiko remain as quiet as possible. She noticed that the person besides Tenzin is looking at her the whole time. She avoided direct eye contact with this air-bender woman, and pretended to not notice. It does feel rather uncomfortable for a person to stare at you for a long time.

"I see, so you are going to Ba Sing Se so that your sister can be tutored under Master Lee." Tenzin said. "I apologize that we did not notice you in the previous town which we have been to." It's clear that Tenzin felt guilty that these young people have placed themselves in danger for the sake of chasing after their sky bison Oogi. If they have only delayed their journey for a little bit, then Satchiko and Mayumi would have probably avoided all the dangers by meeting them.

"But," Tenzin begin, not sure if he should very say it. "I'm not sure if Master Xuan Zang would be the best candidate for students seeking to master Earth Bending, well, he is a powerful bender, but not an Earth bender."

Mayumi and Satchiko both have a sense of surprise painted on their face. What is Tenzin implying here?

"Hold it!" Satchiko snapped. She no longer cares to leave a good impression in front of the air-nomads. "You are saying that we came all this way just to hear that Xuan Zang isn't a qualified Earth Bending teacher!"

"Satchiko calm down!" Mayumi shouted, she held her restless sister back, fearing she might get too close to them.

Jinora and Tenzin looked at each other. Tenzin came forward, trying to appeal to Satchiko's sudden frustration. He knew how much they must endure to make it this far into the war stricken Earth Republic. However, he is unaware of how much this means to the seventeen years old Kyoshi warrior. Satchiko never wanted to leave her home, and some sort of incentives must be there to keep her committed to this journey.

"I am not saying that Master Xuan Zang is unqualified," Tenzin said to diminish Satchiko's anger. "What I was saying is that he does not teach people directly."

Satchiko stopped momentarily, and reevaluated Tenzin's words. Slowly, she is calming herself.

"Master Xuan Zang is a very prominent figure of Ba Sing Se university, and is a friend of mine. However, his position in the institution does not involve nurturing benders by himself, instead he delegates the best instructors in his possession to teach the next generations of talents." Tenzin said, which did put Satchiko's emotions at ease. "His responsibility ranges far beyond then just teaching people how to master the element of Earth. He must also fulfill his duty to support Ba Sing Se's air-bending population, and help them obtain spirituality and the knowledge of an air-nomad."

"Sorry," Satchiko apologized. "I was very rude to you."

"It's ok Kyoshi warrior, no one is at fault here." Jinora said. "No one is perfect, I'm sure you can master Eartth bending just as I have mastered air too."

Satchiko appreciates these encouraging word from this Jinora person. She probably never thought air-nomads would be so amicable to strangers they have never met before.

"I'm sure you have already know who we are, but we still haven't know who you are. You mind telling us your names?" Tenzin stated. He can't just be calling these two 'Kyoshi warriors' the whole time, he would much prefer calling them by their actual names.

"My name is Mayumi, this is my sister Satchiko."

The two finally introduced themselves, with Satchiko giving them a simple wave.

"It's nice to meet you, Mayumi and Satchiko." Tenzin said in a friendly tone. "I see that the warriors of Kyoshi still have the same recognizable face paint, it very bring me back to my first time on Kyoshi island when I was just a young boy."

While most Kyoshi warriors have the usual war paint. There are of course individuals that are exceptional to this unwritten rule. Tomoe always wear that fox mask, not revealing her real face to anyone. Oiwa have menacing red stripes painted across her face, making her look angry even when she is not. And then, there is the Kyoshi warrior named Akunin, who is...

"Master Tenzin," Satchiko asked. "We were attacked by the group known as the acolytes of San Bao, is there anything you can tell me about them? They tried to kidnap me and my sister, and I do not think they have good intentions to our home, Kyoshi island."

Tenzin looked at Satchiko for a while, and so did Jinora. They felt that they are in a difficult position to explain the whole saga about this 'mysterious' cult known as the Acolytes of San Bao.

"We find what they believe in to be troubling, disturbing, and a perversion of everything that is good in this world." Tenzin explained, followed with a tired sigh. "Back then, we Air-nomads have been monitoring them for a while, pushing back against their activities of amassing believers of this 'Eternal balance' which they have often preached to outsiders." Tenzin stroked his long white beard, which he did to do to keep calm and remember what he is trying to convey. "Their true intentions are always shrouded in mystery, perhaps only their leader would know. Their people always tries to recruit new members on the streets of Republic while also demonstrating admiration towards their master. But their values are greatly unsettling."

"Temujin has spoken this last night," Jinora joined in. "The group believe that people of different elements must never bear children in fear that it would weaken the bending of future generations."

When Satchiko heard this, she felt very distraught. As a very weak bender who couldn't even lift a small boulder, she felt very uncomfortable after listening to this. Her own dad isn't a bender, but maybe she have inherited the weakened bending from him?

"But why would they target Kyoshi island?" Mayumi added.

"We do not know," Tenzin answered. "They also preached that once their master have transformed the world into his own image, then peace and balance would return to the world. But I cannot excuse their vile actions. I have seen their followers spreading their idea through leaflets, billboards and broadcasts. Preaching about peace yet harassing and attacking families with different element benders."

Satchiko and Mayumi tries to comprehend this piece of information. The goals and conscience of these people are much more deranged then mere bandits. Normal bandits only raid to increase their wealth, but these Acolytes, they do it because of their firm belief into a perverse idea.

"We don't know who this 'master' is, or what he wants, but we knew his intentions are not good." Tenzin warned the Kyoshi warriors, hoping they too can treat this new threat as seriously as they are. "While their ideas are definitely dangerous, their true strength lies in their influence. Under the new administration of Republic City, they are treated as a spiritual movement protected under the law. Thereby giving them a safety net from any investigations. We air-nomads have repeatedly urged them to do something about the threat, but we only received more backlash from the general population from doing so. Since we cannot fight them directly, we can only send air-nomads to protect the spirit portal, in case the followers would enter it and..." Tenzin stopped. He suddenly remembered how much better things used to be when Korra was around. Thing were not perfect and smooth sailing for Republic City, but at least there wasn't so much disagreement between the different groups inhabiting the city they all know and love. He understands, and even defends the notion that everyone is treated with respect under the republic regardless of background or belief. Yet, there are times that even he have doubts about what he is trying to conserve. As a former councilman of United Republic, he has saw countless events which have almost destroyed the city. From the equalist successfully overthrowing the council, to Kuvira almost taking over, he seen it all. But what the United Republic faced today is not something that it has ever faced previously. This time, the problem have rooted itself into society, but much more sinister than the equalist. This time, the threat is protected, by possibly the very people it is trying to destroy. A wild weed that is left unchecked, would eventually devour the whole garden. They need something more than just governments and politicians to solve the problems. They need someone that can unite the fractured, and vanquish the discord. They need none other than the Avatar, before it's too late.

"Many times have their people tried to enter the spirit portal. We stopped them to protect the spirits. But because of that, we have to the face the consequences of public opinion. Many people have grew distrustful towards the Air-nomads, and believe we have been given too many privileges whereas the Acolytes are given minimal. They believe we are antagonizing another spiritual movement when we air-nomads is also one."

"But, I don't understand." Satchiko asked Jinora like a student not understanding a simple lesson. "Don't the people in this Republic City place know how dangerous they are! They killed Batu's parents!" She knows

"It's complicated," Jinora warned the simple minded girl. "Republic City's politics are no longer what it's used to be. No longer simple and transparent for the people to understand and use. We have lived there for almost our whole lives there, but even we can sometimes felt overwhelmed by the environment there."

Jinora allowed this to sink in. Satchiko remembered what Akahana said to Hakaru after one of the meetings back on Kyoshi island. 'You know that world better than I do.' That was what the leader Kyoshi warrior said about Hakaru's knowledge of Republic city. Did their father somehow have external knowledge of that place prior he arrived on Kyoshi island?

"We know things would only get worse, the Acolytes have expanded their operations outside the city, and we Air-nomads are heavily restricted except searching for more air-benders on the Earth Republic. Which is why we also will try to find the next successor of Korra and usher the world into..." Before Jinora can continue, a nomad walked past them decided to spat on the grass in front of them.

"Earth Republic my arse!" A grumpy nomad shouted. "If it wasn't for that puppet King and that brainless water tribe loser, none of us would even be living in this world of lip service!"

Tenzin held out his arm in front of Jinora, to defend her from possible harm. But thankfully, the man simply stormed further away, and disappeared into the countless people packing their tents.

"That was uncalled for," Tenzin remarked this. He shouldn't have have left Jinora shouldering this conversation. Even mentioning one wrong word can draw the unwanted attention from some random angry person here.

Jinora was unfaltering, despite all the hate thrown towards her late friend. She cannot allow it to hinder their most important goal. "Like I said, we must find the next Avatar, regardless of what happens next. The reason we arrived here is also part of it." Jinora paused, allowing herself to regain some breath. She then looked at Mayumi. "Are you to here to partake in the test too?"

"Oh, no no no!" Mayumi eagerly clarified. She clearly does not have the prerequisites of being an Avatar. She is a non-bender, if she was an Earth bender, pretty sure she would be aware of it by now. "I cannot bend an element, only my sister can. I wish you can allow her to take the trial to see if she is an Avatar."

Tenzin and Jinora simultaneously focused on Satchiko, who felt a bit out of place here. Whether if it's her own tendency toward new people, or simply because of she training as a Kyoshi warrior despite being able to bend Earth. If it wasn't for Mayumi informing people, most of time they would assume her sister is a non-bender.

Satchiko felt defeated, she has brought this on herself. She should have done at least doing some Earth bending in her childhood despite the absence of an instructor. With her mother only knows how to teach her the marital arts for non-benders, Satchiko is clearly lagging behind in her own element. As she continues to think about her flaw, Jinora brought fourth the four toy relics on a piece of yellow cloth.

"I think I'm too old to play with these," Satchiko said, not wishing to offend Jinora.

"You don't need to play with them, you just need to see if you are familiar with any of them." Jinora said woth an amicable tone. She then placed the four toys on the ground, allowing Satchiko to examine all of them.

The two hooded air-nomad in the back also took a keen interest. Their body language shows that they are curious in this particular trial.

When Satchiko picked up one of the toys, everyone concentrated on every little detail of her actions. Tenzin and Jinora, who are both very accomplished air-nomads, are well-versed in observing a person's reaction to these relics. Any sign that implies a person familiar to these toys, would be picked up by them. They watched closely as Satchiko fiddled around with the toy hog monkey, which reminds Mayumi of how the girl used to play with the Kyoshi doll like it was a real person.

When Satchiko got bored, she released the monkey from her hands, and picked up the whirligig. Seeing that the Kyoshi warrior is confused about what this toy is, Jinora gently made a small breeze and turned the turbines. It actually did bring small smile on Satchiko's face, never have she thought that the air-nomads can incorporate bending itself into a toy.

Tenzin and Jinora suddenly felt their hopes are rising, is Satchiko smiling a sign that she is the one?

When the wind stops and the turbines halted, Satchiko also stopped smiling consequently. It's fun until it ends.

Seeing this development, Jinora and Tenzin felt even more disappointed, they shouldn't be optimistic about this in the first place.

Mayumi only concentrated as Satchiko now picked up the small drum. Upon further observation, this drum is a hand drum with two pellets attached on strings positioned from two sides. When the younger sister spun the handle around, the pellets would hit the drum repeatedly. If she was much younger, she would probably find it more amusing, but after a while, she too laid this toy down.

Finally, the last toy. This one caught the attention of Satchiko the most. It once belonged to Kyoshi, but this is a replacement to the one she broke. Satchiko isn't sure if this toy would work well in this trial. Since she is already familiar with this particular artifact when she learned about it in school. She is only interested because this is literally something that has a close link to Kyoshi, and she can use her bare hands to touch it.

Satchiko prevented herself from screaming from excitement, which is definitely not appropriate. She needs to take this seriously. When she felt she is ready, she slowly reached out the clay turtle, and picked it up from the ground. Tenzin and Jinora noticed that Satchiko is taking more effort to examine this toy, their hope once again sparked from the ashes.

"Satchiko, what are you doing?" Mayumi wondered. Her sister is using her hands to feel the toy, rubbing her fingers against the rough and aged surface of the clay.

"Just appreciating part of our history," Satchiko responded, still focused on what she is doing.

Mayumi felt her sister is acting a little childish. Sure she is just seventeen, but taking so long just to play with a simple toy doesn't very give a good impression of a competent Kyoshi warriors. However, the Avatar has played a significant role in thr lives of everyone back home. It's understandable that some people would have more admiration to the founder than others, sometime unnecessarily excessive.

...

Batu quietly watched all of this from a distance, while he trusts the judgement of his two new friends, a part of him felt a little betrayed that they are being a little friendly to those pesky blue arrows.

After watching Satchiko playing around with the clay turtle for a while, he grew bored. He took a big yawn, and a small wind came out of his mouth after released the air inside him. Being an air-bender can be troublesome, sometimes he snores very loud, and a sneeze can blast everything in front of him with air and mucous...ok let's not go any further.

After reopening his eyes, Batu once again looked towards Satchiko. But something strange caught his eyes, the clay turtle appears to be floating without a hand holding onto it. He rubbed his eyes thoroughly, to make sure that he is not mistaken. An expression of wide confusion enveloped him. How is this possible? He then heard Mayumi becoming more concerned with Satchiko's action, saying something about the fragility of the toy.

...

"Satchiko!" Mayumi panicked. "This thing is centuries old, don't play with it with your bending!"

"Relax!" Satchiko causally said, not the least concerned about the prospect of breaking the clay turtle. "I'm bad at Earthbending, but I don't think I'm that bad!"

Using her amateur Earth bending, the toy levitated above her hand. While she knew she was supposed be testing whether or not if she is the Avatar, she felt it wouldn't hurt to practice a little bit of Earth bending with this unique opportunity.

Tenzin and Jinora are horrified, both stood still to conceal their tremendous worry about how reckless Satchiko is treating this PRICELESS object. Sweat is now visible on their faces, as they knew there would be heavy consequences if the clay turtle had been damaged. They don't want to intervene either, as they don't want to sound too controlling towards this teenager. For Tenzin, who have a deep knowledge about Avatar Kyoshi's upbringing, he remembered how Kyoshi herself have broke one of the toys that Kelsang have given to her. It would be the greatest misfortune if the same thing repeats itself on one of her warriors and-

Crack!

A small tear appeared across the neck of the clay turtle. It grew like a vine, and spread towards the turtle's shell.

The world went silent, they wish they have never heard that sound. Even Satchiko herself realized the unexpected severity of this situation. She had gone too hard on the toy, her unrefined Earth bending didn't account for the intricate earth properties of the clay toy.

"No no no no!" She cried desperately. Using her two hands, she accidentally brought an abrupt end to her Earth bending, and the toy fall towards the ground.

Before anyone can reach for it, they felt a powerful breeze plowed past them. It condensed into a ball of air, catching the tiny toy.

The toy remained there, and Sarangerel walked towards the four.

Tenzin's breathing gradually slowed. His heart was beating fast when the toy was almost destroyed. While the cracks are definitely something he have to explain to the elders, at least it is less severe than having the toys being fully destroyed.

Sarangerel walked towards the ball of air, she returned the toy, and hand it to Jinora without saying a single word.

Seeing this, Satchiko can't help but feel guilty that she had damaged something valuable. "Sis, I didn't thought I would lose control and..."

"Don't," Mayumi said, trying not to sound too harsh. She already warned her sister to not act without thinking, yet she has disobeyed. "That clay turtle is something not everyone can see everyday, an object belonged to Kyoshi herself. Do you know how much trouble we would get ourselves in when the Air-benders finds out about this? If you want to say sorry, say it to them, not me."

Satchiko nervously turned around, preparing herself to receive the angry reaction from Jinora and Tenzin. It's bad that she is showing her shortcomings in front of such important figures of the world.

"I'm sorry for damaging the toy." She said. "I thought I was in control, but I wasn't. I hope you can forgive me!" She is being very sincere and desperate with this.

"You don't need to worry," Tenzin said warmly and gently patted Satchiko's shoulder. It surprised the Kyoshi warriors greatlt, who have expected a more harsh response. The air bending master made no attempts to reprimand the girl. "While it is true that you have damaged the toy, I know you do not intend for this to happen. I believe that no one in this world should be responsible for mistakes that is out of their control."

She doesn't how to react to this surprisingly forgiving response. Perhaps what Ganbaatar and the others told her about these people might have initially put her on guard against these Air-nomads. Yet, somehow she don't feel as though Tenzin is trying to deceive her. What she heard felt was truthful, and compassionate towards someone who clearly should be punished for her consequences.

When Sarangerel turned around to leave, Jinora called out towards her.

"You are a skillful bender, young lady!" Jinora complimented. "Thank you so much for catching that, not many people can do what you did at that age."

Sarangerel didn't say anything, only looked expressionlessly at the air-nomad. After ignoring Jinora, Sarangerel once again headed towards her Batu is.

"Wait," Jinora said, not sure why this lady isn't responding to her. She understands that these people held a grudge, but she knew it wouldn't go as far as breaking down communication with the girl. "My name is Jinora, what's yours? If you have free time, you are always welcomed to come to our temple and..."

"Thanks for the generous offer," Sarangerel responded in a neitral tone. "I don't thinking being separated from my family is something I want. I suggest that you refrain from inviting people to those temple of yours, and stay away from my little brother. Good day."

"I am not forcing you or your brother to be separated." Jinora immediately emphasized. "You are free to come to our air-temples if you seek to master air-bending. We are all air-benders, and there no need for us to distrust one another."

Sarangerel walked away, leaving Jinora standing on the spot. While it was a rather cold reception, at least Sarangerel didn't lash out or anything.

Not only have these grey arrow nomads embrace what is opposite of the air-nomad culture, they also pose an indirect threat to everything the culture stands for, peace. But even so, this group are not some lost cause that should be abandoned. These are people, believing in different things, and don't very get alone very well.

"Hey," Mayumi said from the side. "Are you ok?"

With a deep breath, Jinora put up a smile. "I'm fine, thank you."

--

Tenzin climbed on top of his bison, alone with Jinora and the other two. They are done here, after confirming Satchiko is not the Avatar, they can rest assured that they can search the rest of the Earth Kingdom in peace.

"It was a pleasure to talk to you, Satchiko and Mayumi." Jinora expressed. "It's a shame we cannot stay for long, we must go to the next town to seek for the Avatar!"

Mayumi and Satchiko waved good bye before they leave. But before Tenzin and the rest can take off, a small group of people arrived next to Satchiko. In front of them, was none other than the Khan, followed by other men Satchiko met before. Khenbish, the physician and Jargal, also followed into the area along with many other people. Ganbaatar was next to Temujin, wielding his scimitar in his hand. They must have all finished the meeting of theirs in regards to the next destination.

"This isn't going to be good is it?" Mayumi whispered to Satchiko. Who knows what is going to happen next, the fact that Ganbaatar suspects that Opal and Kai is the two hooded air-nomad brings them unease. Temujin is probably already informed that those two have secretly spied on the tent that is holding Huo. It wouldn't be long that he confronts Tenzin about it.

When the Khan finally stopped before the bison Oogi, with his stern expression, he spoke to Tenzin. The tension is thick in the air, even the air-nomads can feel a great sense of nervousness. Despite being allowed to conduct the search for the Avatar inside his camp, there is that sense of contempt thrown towards one another.

"Going so soon?" The Khan said in a controlled volume of voice. "I suppose your search here remains...pointless."

"Well, I am not welcomed here in the first place." Tenzin replied, wishing to leave this place as soon as possible. "My daughter and I must go to the next town in search of the Avatar."

"I see..." Temujin's tone didn't sound too promising. "You know Tenzin, if I remember correctly, there were two air-nomads which we are rather fond of."

Tenzin and Jinora suddenly tensed up, they knew who Temujin is a referring to. Jinora is especially caught off guard by this.

"So, we were just wondering." He pointed at the two hooded air-nomad. "Are those two who sneaked around the camp last night them? In seems that our prisoner have caused them to wander around this area, without permission."

Tenzin doesn't appear to know full detail. "Prisoner?"

"You know we don't like people who have are friends with our enemies," Ganbaatar warned. His scimitar looked very sharp, he made sure that is it ready to chop up things when the moment comes.

Satchiko and Mayumi watched, still caught between the two. They could just leave, but they also want to know how this would conclude.

"Remove your hood," Tenzin said to the two followers. Everyone watched as the mysterious air-nomads revealed their face concealment.

After that is done, the small crowd knew that is definitely not Opal and Kai. The Khan rolled his eyes, and groaned. "You two got the same guts as your father," Temujin said, trying not to sound too judgmental. "Eye witnesses have informed me that you have been to the tent where a bandit prisoner is. It's just have to be you two doesn't it?"

The two air-nomads appear to be younger than Jinora. Both a male and female. The male have full grown hair, opposite to other the air-nomads presented in the books. The female have two yellow balls as hair accessories, she has longer hair. They both have a radiant smile, which clearly unsettles Tenzin and Satchiko alike.

Temujin made a loud long sigh, not angry, but more of an annoyed one. "I thought I have seen the last of you two."

"Yep!" Ikki said energetically. "It's us again!"

"It's nice to see you again Mr Temujin!" Meelo cried, happy to see the former White Lotus. "By the way, your mustache does look like it needs some trim!"

Long ago, when the still non-bender Temujin was part of the White Lotus, there are times when he was stationed on Air temple island in Republic City. He was given the duty to guard Korra in the growing threat of the city's equalist threat. While on duty, those two would endlessly torment him with pranks and silly questions.

Oh Temujin, why do you use a bow? Oh Temujin, why you look always grumpy. Oh Temujin, why are you always alone? The Khan can still vividly remember Meelo would carelessly fart right in front of him, knocking him out in the process. While he disliked their childish antiques, he would be lying if he said he does not enjoy their company.

It's weird how both of Meelo and Ikki are not even afraid at the slightest. Satchiko also noticed that Ganbaatar put away his weapon, upon seeing that these two are not their hated target.

"Skip the formality," Temujin said, indicating to the guards to not call out Ikki and Meelo's behavior of addressing him by his real name. "I'm surprised that you are still able to smile despite how much trouble you are in, we know you two went to where the prisoner is. Now tell me, what are you thinking exactly."

"We were just bored, so we flew around the camp and just happen to find a prisoner tent." Meelo said without any hesitation. As if he expects no consequence for his honesty.

Ikki nodded quickly. While this answer seems innocent, everyone knew they are obviously lying.

"Be lucky that we have known each other before," Temujin wasn't as enthusiastic. "I thought I have made myself clear that I want none of you to bother my people. That fire bender bandit is intended to be handed over to the prison warden of the Earth Empire remnants."

"What?!" Tenzin exclaimed incredulously, failing to hide his disapproval. "You intend to hand that bandit to them of all people? No matter how terrible that bandit's crime is, a fair trial should be given!"

"That ash maker and her partners wanted to kidnap our two esteemed guests, and have almost killed many of my men." The Khan said, unfazed by Tenzin's accusatory words. "We originally wanted to kill her, but seeing that more information can be extracted, we decided to allow the soldiers of the small Earth Empire enclaves to interrogate and incarcerate the bandit. You know the Warden of Ashes who runs one of those enclave is very efficient. Most importantly, she allows accepts prisoners free of charge. How generous of her."

"Temujin," Tenzin said, no longer worried about any form of formality with the Khan. "You know this is wrong, those that had once served under Kuvira will never give anyone a free and fair trial, only true justice can be allowed to decide that bandit's fate. Republic city have many well established and transparent institutions that can handle these people."

"So you suggesting we should head to there?" Temujin said, not sounding convinced. "It seems that you still have faith in Republic City's institutions and system despite everything you people have gone through."

Tenzin did his best to look firm, he still believes in the good sides of the United Republic despite all of its flaws. All citizens under the system are entitled to rights such as free trials whenever they are faulted. However, he didn't not trust the Earth Empire remnants, who did not devote themselves to such ideals. He firmly believes that no matter what crime a person have committed, they should at least be given a chance to justify and prove their innocence.

"Well why don't you do it, seeing that you are the ever so wise Tenzin. We are not changing course just because you wanted us to. The Eternal Sky doesn't folly with such wasteful acts. Since you have so much faith in Republic City's justice system, I would gladly give the prisoner to you. My people and I do not involve ourselves in world affairs, so it would be much more convenient that we discard that ash maker to you." Temujin now has a small smirk near the edge of his mouth.

"My Khan, are you sure about this," the physician said. "I do not believe that the fire bending renegade would be found guilty by the courthouse in Republic city."

"You are right Subutai, she probably won't be jailed, but it does save us time and effort." The Khan said. "Now, Ganbaatar, go get that cultist."

"Yes my Khan," the warrior said. He and a few other went to the tent where Huo is held, which is on the other side of the camp. After a while, they returned.

Huo wasn't struggling even a single bit, she only walked slowly as the warriors escorted her with scimitars and spears all pointed at her. Her two hands are still encased in a jar, which possibly contains substance that restricts her fire bending. She glared at Satchiko who isn't sure what to make of it.

It felt like her own life is in danger despite still being a safe position right now. Satchiko balled her hands, a bit afraid of the fire-bender.

"What are you looking at!" Ganbaatar kicked the knee of Huo, making her fall forward. "You should be lucky that we didn't end your life here!"

"Hey, stop it!" Meelo called out this mistreatment. "She is no longer dangerous!"

"Don't be naive boy, this girl would kill you if you give her chance." Ganbaatar said, referring to the intense fight yesterday.

"Still, don't you think this is a bit too much? She may be an Acolyte of Vaatu, but does she deserves such treatment?"

"Well...probably not, if it were up to me, I will send her to where her friends are!" Ganbaatar's statement caused the laughter of all the guards nearby. Meelo, who is already a young adult, knew what Ganbaatar is insinuating.

"Now hurry up and get her up there!" Ganbaatar yelled.

Satchiko and Mayumi chose to not laugh with them, and so was Khenbish. They all waited until Huo was carefully placed on the bison Oogi. Ganbaatar even fastened the rope that is restraining her.

"I am surprised that you even volunteered to temporarily halt your pointless quest in find the Avatar just to make sure a criminal would be given to what you perceive as 'fair' treatment." The Khan said to the senior monk. "As least you are saving us the trouble of going to where the Earth remnants reside, those places are like war zones."

"The search of Avatar is not pointless," Tenzin refuted. "The reasons for my decisions to send this bandit to Republic city for a fair trial is because that is simply the right thing to do."

"You never change do you," Temujin stated, but not in a demeaning manner. "Stubborn and inflexible, a staunch traditionalist that always seeks to be overbearing. You are a straight arrow that just doesn't know how to adapt."

"Perhaps there are good in it too," Tenzin said. There are no hints of him being offended, in fact, the Khan's words are the more nicer things that was said.

"Satchiko, Mayumi." Jinora said. The two Kyoshi warriors looked at her. "Since you two wanted to go to Ba Sing Se, do you want us to take you there?"

Satchiko and Mayumi looked around, they actually wanted to ask the Khan for his help. But refusing Jinora's offer might not be the best thing to say. These air-nomads have been friendly to them so far, even going as far as to forgive Satchiko's breaking the clay turtle.

Mayumi tried to speak, but struggles to put together a good sentence without being offensive. "I...I mean, we thank you for the offer, but..."

"But we have already agreed to take them to Ba Sing Se." The Khan's firm statement finished off Mayumi's sentence. "So you four don't need to worry a single thing."

They never discussed this with the Khan. Temujin was never informed about why they are out here in the first place. Everyone else behind Temujin seems confused too. Although to be fair, they never were supposed to be going anywhere in the first place, they only moved to a different location when the bisons have finished grazing the local grass, or it has become too dangerous to remain idle.

"Wait, we are?" Jargal said our aloud. But he was slapped by Ganbaatar, indicating that his opinion is not appropriate in this current moment.

"You are very willing to do that? For us?" Satchiko asked the Khan, still not sure if this is very ok.

"Definitely, unless you chose to join them." Ganbaatar said.

Satchiko and Mayumi then looked at Jinora, they all knew which is the better outcome. They then looked back at the group of men accompanying the Khan. Khenbish was among them, and he silently nodded to them, hoping they would make a choice that would not embarrass the leader.

After thinking for a while, both Kyoshi warriors walked to the side of the Khan and everyone else, leaving the air-nomads.

"It wasn't a hard choice Tenzin." Temujin said. He seems proud that the Kyoshi warriors made the correct move. "No one forced them, seeing that you are preoccupied."

"Right," Tenzin bluntly said. While there was a sense of defeat here, he knew this is not a very big deal. Satchiko and Mayumi choosing to go with the Khan is definitely a better option then for Tenzin to travel to two opposite locations. "I think this is where we must end our conversation."

"Indeed, but next time if you barge into our homes, bring the two named Opal and Kai, we miss them a lot, and would love to catch up with them." There was a sinister tone in his voice, which Tenzin and Jinora did their best to ignore. Bringing Opal and Kai to the Khan would be the worst idea ever.

"I am sorry that I failed to save for your people in time." Tenzin said suddenly out of the blue. He then took off. Him, Meelo, Ikki, Jinora, and the suspiciously quiet Huo, all ascended above the clouds. The other bisons around the field all made noises, possibly to send Oogi a goodbye.

Temujin as well as everyone watched as their 'hated' people is finally gone.

...

When Batu raised his heads up to see them depart, he watched as they slowly disappeared into the sky.

"Batu," Sarangerel called out, but he didn't look at her. He simply watched the empty skies as if he heard nothing. "We still need to pack our things."

"Do birds ever fall from the skies?" Batu suddenly asked.

"Huh?" The older sister wondered. "What do you mean? Of course they do. No matter how high they fly, they will always drop when they lost their wings."

Batu continued to look at where Oogi have disappeared. These air-nomads, to him they know so little of the land he once reside on, yet so arrogant. One day, he swore he will make them pay for what their negligence of his parents.

...

Oogi have been flying for a while now. The sky is very peaceful, but they can still feel that tension when in the presence of those other air nomads.

"That was close, don't you think?" Meelo said from behind.

"Yeah, thank goodness Mr Temujin doesn't know that Kai is actually your husband!" Ikki said without hesitation. Still carrying that smile, she mercilessly said it in front of Jinora. "Other wise, we would have been done for!"

"We know that!" Jinora said in fit of frustration, never anticipate that her own partner would become enemies of such a dangerous group of air-benders. "I don't want to be reminded that Kai is possibly in danger because of what happened in the past."

That's it, whatever happens in the future, they must not allow anything to happen to him. No matter what. This history of what Kai and Opal did that day is a very complicated situation, where no one is exactly in the wrong. If only things are much simpler to resolve.

"Nothing will happen to him, or Opal." Tenzin said from the front of the bison. "I promise that this will be resolved no matter what. If Korra was here, she too would not want us to forsaken hope."

The three children of Tenzin are all enamored by this, his speech did gave them hope. They shouldn't allow what is difficult to prevent them from healing the rift between the two air-bending group. They need to soldier on no matter what. But now, their main priority is to find the Avatar as soon as possible, so that they can have someone to depend on when difficult times demands it.

"Jinora," Tenzin said to her oldest daughter. "Those two Kyoshi warriors are indeed people we should remember them."

"Yes dad, they are very nice, like how we always thought of them." Jinora replied. "I hope Satchiko can accomplish her journey to master Earth bending."

"Hmm," Tenzin narrowed his eyebrows. He definitely felt he has seen Satchiko and Mayumi before, but that might just be because all Kyoshi warriors look similar with their face paints. "Jinora, when we get back to Republic City and dropped off this girl to the police, I want you to remind me to research the old archives of the White Lotus."

"Wait, we are not searching for the Avatar? What's going on?" Meelo said with a concerned voice. They have just began their search, are they going temporarily pause it?

"No, Meelo." Tenzin clarified. "I want to take a look at a book, which contains our family tree."

The three children are now even more confused.

"Why?" Ikki questioned. "What is the point of it anyway? Shouldn't we be returning to search for the next Avatar the moment we hand that person over?"

Huo is still quiet, she is sleeping, but they are on guard in case she suddenly jumps off Oogi.

"She is right, dad, I think think finding the Avatar is much more important than looking into our family tree." Meelo said. "Why are you suddenly so interested in our family tree anyway?"

Tenzin didn't answer immediately, knowing his intention might not be easy to understand.

"Oh, nothing much. Just...want to make sure about something." Tenzin's response felt rather ominous. His words immediately drew the attention of his three children. "I am not quite sure if there is truly more of our family out there, but I want to take a look at the family tree just in case."

The bison flew off towards the horizon, and towards the location of Republic City, their home.

Author's note:

-The Shagai, are traditional Mongolian toys that uses animal bones for kids to play. There are countless ways to play them, like using them as a dice, marble ball or fortune telling. The modern variant has incorporated colors.

-The bowing demonstrated by Mayumi and Satchiko is the same way which japanese people greet others. The 'fist and hand' gesture thing performed by Jinora and Tenzin is the usual way air-nomads greet in the show(which might have a real life counterpart).

-The way which Batu said 'Deal with it!" is a direct tribute to Avatar Korra. Very iconic three words.

-The clay turtle was a toy that Kyoshi have once brokered but then replaced. (Canon info)

-I'm not entirely sure what the bar is for air-benders to be considered skillful. If any of you can give me suggestions, I would love to hear it. I know Bumi(Tenzin's brother) can also do the same thing of what Sarangerel did, but her uses of this 'vacuum air ball' technique is actually much more dangerous then what most people would know. This is will be showed in later chapters.

-Subutai is a general of Temujin(real life info).

-The drum with two pellets are a real thing played by children across the nations such as China, Japan etc.

My thoughts about the Air Nomads: To me, the air-bender culture fascinates me the most. Yet strangely we know so little about them. Their food is very interesting as well, as vegetarian coincides with their philosophy of not killing(like real life counterparts). In the legend of Korra, I find myself more interested in the non-bending Air acolytes than the actual air-benders after garmonic convergence. I don't know, those guys feel more like real monks than the people who got air-bending, hmmmmmmmmm. I mean, I guess visually and behaviorally they are just like actual Air-nomads but without the blue arrows. Funny story, I watched Korra first, so I thought the acolytes were actually airbenders. Even without bending, they make up the backbone of air-nomad cultural revival. But it's strange to see what their lives actually are. We know traditional air-nomads do not adhere to a family structure, a child is not meant to know their parents. But because the acolytes are recruited, how do they...you know...do the whole no no no attachment thingy?
