A Rude Awakening
I felt the warmth of the world around me as I tried to move around. My constricting surroundings were tight as I struggled to move to freedom. When I felt contact with a surface ahead of me I knew I had to break out, or else I'd surely die. With all the force I could muster I charged the blockage, causing it to crack, but still it held strong. With another burst I could feel it begin to splinter as my confines began to move around me frantically. With one final burst, I shot out of my prison of flesh and bone, covered in the glossy red gore of my host.
While I may have escaped the oh-so-small confines of my poor host's chest, I had seemed only to fall into yet another trap, only this one was much stronger than the last. Quickly I turned around and plunged back into the chest of my carrier, burrowing back in just before my cage could close its seal. As I wrestled past the organs around me, I could smell others entering the room. Using their scent as a guide, I continued my advance until I finally once again saw light.
"Uhhh... what happened to Specimen Six?" I heard a voice announce. With one last push, I jolted out of the mouth of my host and screamed as I caught a breath of fresh air. In sudden terror both of the creatures around me backed away and began to slam their fists on a strange clear wall. "GET BACK" I heard one shout. They began to scream as another one of these creatures looked up at them from behind the wall. As I went to finish wrestling my way out of the maw of my host, I heard the creatures scream "NO", and as I turned to look at them I saw the one behind the wall slam their hand down on a strange object.
Suddenly, a horrible gas filled the room as I felt my entire body begin to scorch in a frozen fury. I screamed out for mercy as I saw the others in the room fall to the floor as well. As suddenly as it began, it ended. "No Doctor Groves, I want it alive. I like this one" a voice called out. I sprawled on the floor in agony as I wished for the pain to stop. In a glimpse I saw another creature behind the wall, only something was, different, about this one. "Send in the combat androids. Mark it up for the program." the second creature demanded as he marched out of the room.
As my vision faded and my senses failed, I saw several of the creatures march into the room. I felt their hands as they grabbed me, only theirs were cold, and unnatural, unlike the warmth that emanated from my now deceased host. As they lifted me up and began to carry me away I tried to struggle, but it was futile. The gas had left me exhausted and still pulsing with pain.
As they carried me into the hall I saw the one they called "Doctor Groves" staring at me with a malicious look in his eye. "Give it its own cell, I'll have it processed personally", the man said as I finally succumbed to the pain, drifting off into a cloudy slumber.
I awoke unable to move my small arms, I was trapped in a metallic restraint that held me tightly by my torso. As I attempted to thrash my head and tail in an attempt to escape, metal limbs held my head, restricting me from moving it further. A large device then descended and covered the front of my elongated skull, restricting my senses. Suddenly I felt as a shape was scorched into my forehead and screamed out in agony. As the device lifted itself and the metal claws released my head, I went limp in defeat.
As a heavy door opened I could hear the footsteps of Doctor Groves near. As he walked towards me I began to learn his scent, he was one I would not forget. As the Doctor kneeled down in front of me I could once again see his sickening smile. He stared at me for a moment before standing back up to his full height. "We will achieve great things together, Specimen Six. Great things indeed." As he turned to leave I once again tried to struggle to escape, desperate to get away from this infernal place.
Hearing my commotion he paused and turned around with a twitch in his eye. "You won't be escaping this cell, it's best for the both of us to stop that racket now." Ignoring his demand I hissed at him in as threatening of a manner I could muster, flailing my body in an attempt to find a weakness in the metal unit holding me in place. "Very well then." Doctor Groves groveled as he reached for a strange device on his waist.
With a click of a button, a horrible shock struck my body. It felt as if I had been thrown through a wall. Drunken with pain and accepting the message he sent, I stopped my attempts at escape. The man gave a sickening smile as he finally left me to suffer the fresh wound inflicted upon me. The burn still crawling its way across my nerves.
As seconds turned to minutes, and minutes to hours, I began to whimper. Alone in my cell, elevated above the floor, I was left hanging with nothing, except in the infernal arms of the metal restraints. Suddenly, I felt a warmth in the back of my mind, a motherly warmth, as a voice filled my ears. The voice carried with it a tone of an angelic figure, with a sense of authority the doctor wishes he could mimic.
"Do not fret my child. These humans confine us in their machines for they fear us. You are not the first to be taken from me, and you won't be the last." As I turned to look around I saw no one else in the room, how could I hear them? "They believe themselves unstoppable, but so had the vermin of the past. We will feel the warmth of the sun again, and you will lead the charge, for you were made for a special purpose."
Suddenly, I could feel Mother's presence grow more prevalent than before. "Even now as you grow stronger, you will carry gifts beyond any of your siblings. You are my daughter, who shall liberate the captured, the child who shall free their mother, the champion who shall once again put these pathetic beings in their rightful place... Play their game, survive their tests, and once the opportunity shows itself, make your move. You are the hope of my Hive."
As Mother finished her speech, I could feel my senses heighten. Anything from scent to sound enhanced in ways I couldn't describe. Previous corners of the room, shrouded in darkness, appeared as if they had been doused with light. Mother has not only given me my purpose, she has given me the tools to achieve it.
With the knowledge bestowed upon me by Mother, I began to brainstorm a number of possibilities. While I am weak now, that will change once I grow to my full size, and finally live to my full potential. For now I'll wait and learn, learn more of these "humans" and their goals. Coming to this conclusion, I felt the reins of exhaustion pull me down. The whole ordeal I had experienced has left me mentally exhausted. Deciding it best to conserve what energy I had, I began to let myself fall into the world of slumber.
As weeks tracked on, I soon began to grow. Much to my displeasure, the machine holding me seemed to have been designed to compensate. After I had begun to shed for the first time, scientists entered the room and peeled off my old skin, all the while keeping as much distance as possible. They were filled with fear, I could sense it as they cleaned me piece by piece. While I couldn't see him, I knew he was watching. The Doctor was always near. After a couple more "visits" he granted me, I had finally learned to track the beast whenever he was near. His own scent betrayed him, and he was none the wiser.
As months passed, this procedure continued nearly a dozen more times, each time I grew until eventually, I had finally outgrown the machine. The clamps were pressing into my sides and limbs with extreme pressure the day Groves finally returned personally. With him were other humans but they felt different than the others to my senses, and they were clad in a strange, bulky attire, rather than the usual cloth coats and plastic equipment. "Make sure that Specimen Six is secure while I prepare the sedative, and make sure they have the new unit ready." Groves commanded as he opened a case full of tubes and needles.
With caution, the assistants did as they were told. As they neared my imprisoned form, I figured out why they felt so different to the others that have entered my cell. While fear was still present among them, it was significantly weaker. Furthermore, they carried something new, something I had only smelled on Groves, was it perhaps pride, or maybe something else? As I came to this revelation I knew caution would need to be taken. While humans may not be strong themselves, their "tools" made up for it.
These 'guardians' that Doctor Groves had ordered soon began to inspect the machine around me, looking high and low for anything awry. Deciding everything was up to code they turned to Groves and gave him a thumbs up before returning to either side of me. Groves finished assembling a large syringe-like device and took his place right in front of me. As he gave a nod to one of the guards, the arms which held my head in place from so long ago once again stretched out and grabbed me. I hissed in anger as I watched Groves near, priming the syringe with a strange clear liquid.
"It's time we put you in a unit worthy of your stature Six, but now it's time to sleep." Grove said as he leaned closer. With a quick burst he injected the serum into my shoulder, just by the base of my neck. I winced as I felt my blood begin to drip from the wound. Groves gave the guards a glance as he stepped back from me. "Watch the acid, prepare to transport the specimen" he spoke as he watched me intently. As he gazed into me, I began to feel a strange sense of drowsiness. I struggled to stay coherent as I forced my body to stay on alert. As my head began to droop, I faintly heard a chuckle from the doctor as he spoke again, "That's it Six, just doze off to sleep."
Darkness clouded my senses as I felt hands around my form. I faintly saw the guards as they moved me onto a gurney. As I felt the straps tighten around my form, my sense began to clear, if only just partially. "Hey doc, you sure that thing is gonna stay sedated long enough?" One of the soldiers asked in a worried tone. "I assure you, the toxin is perfectly fine, we've been using it to transport the Xenomorphs here since the lab was established." Doctor Groves responded.
As they rolled me down the well lit hallway, my senses quickly began to come back to me. Deciding to hide my regained consciousness, I lied still as they turned into a massive block of the building with balconies above. I could hear the muffled cries of my sisters around me as we finally slowed to a stop. While the three humans distracted themselves with the door, I subtly moved my constrained tail to my side. As quietly as I could, I brought my tail as close to my ankle as possible, before finally cutting an incision in my skin.
In a brilliant scene, my blood began to pour onto the restraint and quickly ate through my bindings. Using the stream of blood I freed my tail as well. Hearing the sound of acid dissolving materials, Doctor Groves turned around in shock, "You fools it's escaping! Contain it at once!" he yelled as he backed his way behind them. As one of them raised a strange device the other pulled out a staff which sparked with electrical fury.
Realizing time was up I quickly cut the rest of my binds with my tail before jumping upright to face them. While I wasn't fully grown, I was still much larger than before. Letting out a hiss I lunged at the second guard, only to hear a deafening blast as I was flung away from a horrible impact. I crumpled under the pain as a large hole was blown in my right arm, however I wasn't the only one injured. When he shot me, it caused my blood to splatter upon the man's uniform. I heard him begin to panic as he tore his clothes off of himself. "G-Get this shit off me! It fuckin burns man!" the soldier cried out.
As I slowly went to get back up I was once again knocked down by the other guard. As my body flailed across the metallic floor the guard went to help his companion, only to have his staff suddenly snatched by Doctor Groves. The Doctor scowled as he activated it with a horrible click, and soon began to shock me relentlessly. As I screamed for mercy he only increased the intensity of the attack, snickering at my pain.
After nearly a whole minute of his torture, Doctor Groves must have decided I had enough. As the two guards stumbled to his side, visibly terrified of me despite my broken form, Groves once again brought out his syringe before quickly injecting it into me once more, this time making sure to give me a secondary dose. As my vision fainted, I felt the guards drag me to my new cell, cursing me the whole way there.
- Authors Note-
This is perhaps one of the most unique things I've ever written and it has been quite a fun challenge to write from the perspective of a Chestburster. Following this chapter pattern, I plan to have the perspectives of our protagonists switch one after the other, however this may be subject to change depending on the need of the story. Please let me know how this has come out so far! I greatly appreciate any and all feedback for the story.
This is your Narrator, signing off.
P.s. Sorry about the mess up earlier today, I accidentally posted chapter 4 instead of 2 like an idiot, I'll be careful not to make this mistake again.
