Ch4

Percy honestly didn't know what to make of the camp. All that he knew was that his mom was gone, his friend was a satyr, and the classmate who randomly appeared one day claiming to be his friend was also a part of this.

Chris walked beside him not saying a word as Annabeth Chase gave them a tour of the camp. Who is he anyway? He just appeared at school and people said we were friends. Grover kept warning me about him but he hasn't done anything to hurt me yet. Also why did he call me brother when I was waking up? The times he was going in and out of consciousness Chris would watch him and mutter something about being brothers, but he had no idea what he meant by that.

"Do either of you have questions?" Annabeth asked as they passed by a group of campers.

They both shook their heads, Chris hadn't said anything the entire time and continued to remain silent.

"Alright lets continue then," Annabeth said just as a big scary looking girl came up to them.

"Oh look we have some newbies," the girl said with a sneer.

"Clarisse why don't you go polish your spear," Annabeth said. "This is Clarisse daughter of Ares."

"The war god?" He asked causing Clarisse to look at him as if he were an insect.

"Yeah got a problem with that losers," Clarisse sneered.

"It explains your attitude and your stench," He said stiffening his posture, he wasn't going to let someone push him around.

Clarisse and her friends glared at him and Chris, "Well how we give you both a new initiation," she sneered as she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.

"Clarisse come on they are new," Annabeth sighed.

"Don't worry I got this," he said meeting Clarisse's glare.

However, to his surprise Chris walked up to Clarisse and grabbed her hand that was on his shirt, "Let him go and go back playing soldier."

Clarisse's face twisted in rage, "What did you say!" She attempted to grab Chris but he blocked the attack and punched her in the gut.

Damn he is quick. The daughter of Ares glared at the masked boy, "You're both dead. Girls lets show them what happens to newbies who think they are tough."

"Come on you don't have to fight," Annabeth begged.

"Can you take her?" Chris asked as he cracked his knuckles.

"I'll do my best," he said as Clarisse and her friends charged at them.

Chris struck first. He hit one girl in the face sending her to the ground while quickly kicking another in the gut.

Wow he knows how to fight. He didn't have time to admire it though as Clarisse had grabbed him and started to pull him into the bathroom. She was strong, really strong and he couldn't get out of her grip as she dragged him to the toilet.

"Say hello to the toilet," She said as she tried to push his face into the dirty water.

Damn it I'm not going to touch that. He forced every fiber of his body to resist Clarisse and then he felt a tug inside of him followed by the creaking of the pipes in the ground. Then it happened, the pipes burst from under him and water pushed Clarisse back.

She screamed as the area was flooded with water dousing everyone. Well almost everyone, he and Chris were still dry while Annabeth, Clarisse, and her friends were soaked wet. What just happened? Chris was still dry and merely dusted off his shirt while Clarisses's friends were on the ground moaning in pain.

"You both are dead," Clarisse spat as she and her friends stormed off.

"Well I know I want you both to be on my team in capture the flag," Annabeth said. "Come on lets get you both the Hermes Cabin, it's almost time for dinner."

"Where did you learn to fight like that?" He asked as they sat at the Hermes table.

"I traveled a lot," Chris said sipping his drink from underneath his mask. "Lets stick together, I won't let anyone harm you.

"Sure sounds good," he said. I don't know anyone else so I might as well stay close to you. He stared at Chris, something was off about him but he couldn't put his finger on it. Who are you really? He knew he couldn't just be a demigod since he appeared out of nowhere at school and helped fight Mrs. Dodds and those weird dogs that appeared out of nowhere. Well he did stand up for me so maybe he isn't that bad.

Chris kept his distance from him for the rest of the evening and into the next day when Luke was showing them sword techniques. "Alright let me see what you got," Luke said while looking at Chris.

Chris nodded and picked up his bronze sword and walked up across from Luke. The entire Hermes cabin watched them as Chris assumed a fighting stance. He watched intently as the two began to exchange blows.

Luke must have not expected Chris to be good with a sword as his sword was quickly knocked out of his hand. There was a gasp from everyone in the cabin and Luke stared at Chris in surprise, "Wow you sure know how to use a sword." Luke said in surprise as the other campers stared in shock at Chris

"Thanks," Chris said as he gripped his sword tightly

"Well lets see how good you really are," Luke said as he picked up his sword.

Luke is supposedly the best swordsman at camp, I probably got lucky disarming him but still Chris disarmed him as if it were nothing. He is a fighter that's for sure. He and the rest of the cabin watched in awe as Chris and Luke exchanged blows.

Luke's brow furrowed as Chris showed no sign of relenting. Luke tried to disarm Chris but the masked demigod's movements were fluid and Luke was being pressed back.

Where did he learn to fight? How long has he known about this demigod stuff? He definitely is hiding something that's for sure. He watched in shock as Chris knocked Luke's sword out of his arm and pointed his sword at his throat.

"Ok I yield," Luke said with a tight smile.

"He beat Luke who is this guy?" Muttered various campers.

Chris nodded and sheathed his sword and sat back down next to him as if it were nothing. "Well as you all can see we all have to train well," Luke said with a tense expression though his eyes betrayed a hint of irritation. "Lets continue practicing another day."

"Where did you learn to fight like that?" He asked as they studied Ancient Greek together.

"I lived on the seas for a while," Chris said avoiding the gaze of Annabeth Chase who was trying to help them. The daughter of Athena was a bit stand offish but for whatever reason Chris did not like her at all.

He frowned at him, "You beat Luke like it was nothing."

Chris shrugged his shoulders, "On the seas you meet all kinds of people. I can teach you if you want."

He looked at him but didn't press the issue as they continued to study the story of Medusa. Chris remained calm but he noticed his fist remained clenched the entire time they read the story Chris mostly kept to himself and mumbled insults when Annabeth passed by him. Other than that he seemed more adept at this demigod stuff than him.

When the day for capture the flag came they were both tasked with patrolling near a river while Annabeth led the rest to take the flag. "Where is your gold sword?" He asked as they walked along the river. They both were using standard bronzes and wore armor but unlike him Chris seemed too calm.

"I'll take it out when I need it," Chris said as the sound of twigs breaking caught his attention.

"There your punks are," Clarisse said as she gripped her spear tightly in her hands. She had about a half dozen of her siblings with her all armed with weapons. "You'll both pay for the other day now. Get them!"

"Stay close to me," Chris said as he drew his sword. The golden sword glistened in the sunlight and was definitely sharper than the bronze sword he was using. The children of Ares stared at it in awe but Clarisse yelled at them to charge.

"Watch out!" He yelled but Chris had it under uncontrol, in one fluid movement he chopped off the tip of one spear and kicked its owner down before disarming and incapacitating the other.

Clarisse growled, "Get them!" She charged at them with her spear which crackled with electricity.

A few of her brothers charged at Chris who effortlessly took them down and slashed at their arms. They fell to the ground bleeding and moaning in pain as Chris stabbed them while on the ground.

"Damn so you are as good as they say," Clarisse said as she sized Chris and him up. "I'll show you what a daughter of Ares can do."

Chris said nothing though he could've sworn he saw a smile from underneath his face mask. Clarisse charged at them, for a second he thought she would go after Chris but at the last minute, she switched her attention to him.

He barely had time to raise his shield as her spear made contact with it. Damn it. He was thrown into the water. When he stood up, his body was shaking yet he didn't feel tired in fact he felt stronger than ever.

I won't give up here. He charged at Clarisse as she was fighting with Chris, the daughter of Ares's expression became more agitated as she was put on the defensive. Taking his opportunity he charged at her to support him. He swung his sword, Clarisse barely had enough time to raise her spear as his blade broke the shaft.

She swore as Chris kicked her to the ground and pointed his sword at her throat, "Good job," Chris said as Clarisse glared daggers at both of them. The sound of a horn blared in the distance followed by cheering

"Alright you two that's enough," Chiron said as he came through the woods with Annabeth and the rest of their teammates.

Chris nodded and sheathed his sword while Clarisse stood up glaring her siblings were still on the ground moaning in pain from the injuries Chris gave them.

He stepped onto the land and that was when he felt a wave of exhaustion. Chris managed to catch him, "Thanks," he muttered as Chris supported him up.

"Hey look out!" Annabeth yelled.

The sound of growling broke the silence, he and Chris turned around to see two hell hounds charge at them.

He was stunned at first. Chiron shot one of them dead but the other managed to lunge at them. His eyes went wide, he attempted to grab his sword but Chris pushed him out of the way and quickly decapitated the hound with one fluid strike of his gold sword.

Everyone stared at them in shock, at first he thought it was because of Chris but then he noticed something over both of their heads, a blue trident.

Chiron and everyone else got to their knees. "It is determined," The centaur said. "Percy Jackson and Chris Caspian sons of Poseidon Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses and the sea. Hail sons of the Sea god."

"So um we're brothers," Percy said as he finished placing what few possessions he had on his side of the Poseidon cabin. It felt weird to say that, all his life he was an only child his only family his mother

Chris looked at him and nodded, "It appears so. Nice to meet you brother. I promise that I won't turn everyone against you and steal the girl you like."

"Uh ok," he said. He didn't really have the words to respond to that. "So um Poseidon is our dad."

"Yes he is," Chris said in a matter of fact tone while looking at the walls around them.

He couldn't tell if Chris was being sarcastic but he could tell Chris wasn't surprised by the fact that they were siblings or children of Poseidon.

I never had a sibling, this is crazy. A part of him always wondered what it would've been like to have a brother or sister but he couldn't stand the idea of his mom having a kid with smelly Gabe. "So have you ever met him? Poseidon I mean," he said.

Chris looked at him, his face still hidden behind the facemask and dark glasses. "It's complicated but yes."

"Oh," he said scratching his head. "Do you have any other family?"

"I never knew my mother since she died when I was born," Chris said as he picked up his own minotaur horn and stroked it in his hands. "I have one other person close to me but we aren't on speaking terms."

"Oh," he said awkwardly. He isn't much of a talker but I might as well get to know him. His mother was his only family and while he was still getting used to this demigod stuff Chris didn't seem like a bad guy. I could use all the help I can get right now. He is strong and having help right now would be very useful.

"What was your mother like?" Chris asked much to his surprise.

"She was the best," he said looking at his own minotaur horn. "She always did everything for me even when we didn't have much she always did her best to support me, she even put up with my stepfather to protect me." He clenched his fists as he fought the urge to cry.

"I'm sorry to hear about that. She sounds like a remarkable woman," Chris said looking at him from his bed. "For what it's worth sorry I couldn't save her in time."

"It's alright the minotaur took us all by surprise," he said looking at the horn on his dresser.

"To be honest though I don't think she is dead," Chris said playing with his golden pen in his hands. "She was taken, someone is after you and she is being held, hostage."

He stared at Chris in shock not knowing what to say. "What do you mean?"

"If she were dead there would be a body. If I had to put my money on it she was taken and someone is using her to come after you," Chris said gripping his pen tightly. "Trust me I have a lot of experience with hostage taking."

"Who would someone be after me?" He asked softly.

Chris got up from his bed and walked up to him and looked down at him with his dark shades, "I have my guesses. Being a child of the big three comes with its fair share of enemies. Listen you have no reason to trust me but we are brothers so how about we look after each other. I sense a quest will be coming your way, it'll save your mother I can help you get her back."

Looking at Chris in surprise as his half brother extended a hand. I will need all the help I can get. He hasn't hurt me so far and he is strong. Looking into the dark sunglasses his brother wore he nodded and shook his hand. "Sounds like a plan."

Despite the facemask, he thought he could see a satisfied expression on his brother's face. Just as he was about to ask him something Grover burst into the room, "Hey guys Chiron wants to talk with you both."
