Ch7(updated)

Percy looked at the various statues of people in the shop. "So your mom did all of these?" He asked trying to not sound judgmental.

Chris nodded, "Yeah my mom has that habit. That one of the pegasi is one of her grandkids. My brother mentioned she lured him into some sort of trap."

"Wow sounds complicated," he said. I still can't believe you were immortal. Looking at Chris he saw a normal kid around his age but the way he fights is anything but normal. "Sorry that you had to meet her this way."

"No worries," Chris said softly. "I mean she would've turned me into a statue too."

He was taken aback by how carefree he said it. "But she was still your mom."

"She'll reform eventually. I know it may sound callous but I never knew her," Chris said patting the statue of the pegasi. "Besides my immortal aunts Stheno and Euryale repeatedly tried to kill me so it would have been stupid to think that my mom wouldn't have turned me into a statue."

Chris froze then turned to him, "Percy I'm not going to lie to you, I'm a very bad guy. I've killed, extorted, and hurt many people. Many had my trust, some of them called me friend."

Chris drew his sword, the golden blade glistened in the light. "Many of Poseidon's children get into some sort of business in the seas. I was the biggest pirate back in the day, I still had a lot of big-name contracts with some shady business partners."

"I see," he said looking at Grover who eyed Chris wearily. I mean we are brothers but it doesn't mean I know you or care about you. It was a harsh sentiment, but right now he only cared about getting his mom back. My mom was always with me she is all that is important to me. But if I have to get along with you for the quest so be it. "So you killed a lot of people."

"Yeah I did," Chris said as he capped his sword. "I'm one of our father's best swordsman. I've beat many strong monsters and demigods in the past."

He stared at Chris, he always suspected something was off about him knowing that he was one of his father's immortal sons didn't shock him as much. He has a bloody history that I can tell but I guess everyone has their secrets.

Chris looked at the various statues, "Don't worry I won't hurt you. As I said I plan on seeing this quest through to the end. You'll get your mother back and be alive."

"Thanks but why do you want to help me? Is it just because of our dad?" He asked. Personally, he didn't mind any and all help so long as he could get his mom back.

"I'm a greedy person Percy," Chris said as he dusted off some dust from the pegasi statue. "I never had any legends to my name back in Greece. My brother got to be famous, while I got to be a footnote." Chris gripped his fist tightly, despite having glasses on he could tell he was glaring at the statue.

"I always wanted my chance to shine," Chris said looking at him. "My own quest and stories. I figure helping you out here would be a good start. That and our father wants me to guide you."

"Guide me?" he asked incredulously. "He has never been there for me or my mother my entire life."

"I get that," Chris sighed. "I was basically alone with Pegasus for the longest time before he got famous of course. Gods, our father in particular aren't the affectionate type but they can care in their own way."

"Have you met him?" he asked curiously.

"A few times I had more run-ins with his other children," Chris said as he walked passed the various statues and dusted them off. "Me and a few others are bad apples but our father never went after us unless we really crossed a line as I did recently."

"I see," he said scratching his head.

"Anyway little brother I say we rest here for the night before we leave tomorrow," Chris said as he turned around. "Don't worry I'll keep first watch."

As soon as Chris left he turned to Grover, "Did you know he was immortal?"

Grover nodded, "I did. Chiron told me not to tell you and to let him do it. Percy I know he swore on the Styx but I would be careful he is one of the biggest and most feared pirates around."

"I know," he sighed. "To be honest I hardly know him, but right now I need all of the help I can get."

"We need this quest and so far he hasn't harmed you," Grover said softly. "He did swear on the Styx and Chiron trusts him so we should work with him but cautiously."

"I know," he said looking at the statue of the pegasi. "I'm surprised at how easy he was willing to fight his mother."

Grover nodded, "Good thing he did. Chrysaor did a lot of bad things in his life Percy, he often raided many places and killed many people in drunken duels." Grover scanned the room, his expression darkening, "Percy Chris wasn't exaggerating about the bad things he did. He is an ally but be careful around him."

"I will. Right now I just want to get my mother back," he said. "If he can help me do it and get that lightning bolt then fine." If he can get my mom safely without harming me or Grover then I don't care what he did.

"True. Chrysaor is many things but having him around right now is a plus," Grover said looking up at him. "Besides I'll also protect you when you need it."

He smiled at his friend and patted him on the back, "Thanks man I appreciate it."

Man this is a lot to take in. After getting ready for bed he got into his sleeping bag and processed all that he learned. So my brother is one of my father's immortal children and he is a blood thirsty pirate. A part of him thought it was cool while another didn't want to know the details.

Well so long as he helps me get mom back and doesn't hurt me or Grover I could care less who he was. He did his best to sleep but he kept Riptide close to him, occasionally he would look up to see Chris sitting in the room looking at him from beneath his sunglasses with a neutral expression on his face.

The next morning Chris remained silent until they left the shop. "Did you want me to teach you something quickly?"

"Uh teach me what?" he asked. Grover said nothing but looked at Chris cautiously.

"I can teach you some of our father's power," Chris said. "Come on there is a river nearby, it will be a quick lesson."

He looked at Grover who shrugged his shoulders. "Fine I might as well learn something new."

Chris led him to a river and motioned for him to follow him inside. He could the water around his legs even if it didn't make him wet.

"We can control water we just have to focus on its shape to make it something we want," Chris said as he extended his hand and moved it in a circular motion. The water beneath his hand quickly moved around.

"Our father's domain will always help us so if you are distressed enter it," Chris said as water leaped up from the river and circled around his arm. With a flick of his wrist, he turned the water into a whip and splashed the water. "Sometimes thinking and visualizing it will help."

"Cool so I just think of what I want and it will be made?" he asked.

Chris nodded, "Try it. Create a large wave and hold it."

"Got it," he said taking a deep breath. He closed his eyes focusing on the water around him. Taking another deep breath he could hear the water move as he willed it around to make a wall of water behind him.

Opening his eyes he turned around to see a large wave of water standing behind him. "Wow cool," he said.

"Good job," Chris said clapping his hands. "Now release it on us."

"Release it on us?" He asked.

Chris nodded, "We are sons of Poseidon we won't get wet unless we want to."

He shrugged his shoulders and ordered the wave to crash down on Chris. As he suspected his brother was completely unphased. "Great now try making a whirlpool," Chris said. "Just focus on the water and will it to go around really fast."

"Got it," he said as he focused on the water and imagined it moving. The water began to move quickly around their legs, and leaves and other plants got caught up as the water as it moved faster and faster forming a whirlpool. "This is pretty cool."

Chris smiled at him, "It is. Trust me with more experience you can make a lot of things. Water is a great weapon if used correctly, be creative when you need it."

"Got it," he said as he looked at Grover who was watching them. "We should get going now."

With the help of Grover, they ended up using some cash from finding a lost pet to get a train ticket to go west. He rested on the train seat next to Chris who stared out at the scenery.

"So what's our father like?" he asked. He figured he might as well get to know Chris since they were related.

Chris frowned. "Our father is many things. He is kind, fair, and protective of his children in his own way. Sorry but it's hard to explain him, his mood changes like the sea."

"I see," he said. I wonder how he sees me? I mean Chris is really strong and I imagine his other siblings are also good.

"Don't worry if you are worried about him liking you I'm sure he has high hopes for you," Chris said looking at him with his dark sunglasses. "Trust me our father loves his children though he does get disappointed by a few of them.."

"I see," he said his stomach turning at the thought of meeting his father. "Oh who was that Tristan guy back at school? He supposedly knew you and I would see him out of the corner of my eyes before he left."

"Oh that was Triton," Chris said rolling his eyes. "He is our father's oldest son, a bit of a dick too."

"Um good to know," said scratching his head. "Sorry I have a lot of questions but I figure you know more about being a son of Poseidon than me."

"No worries it takes a lot for our father to be ashamed of us," Chris said. "You don't have to be a famous admiral or something to be in his good graces. You'll do fine, he always liked the heroic types."

"So what was it like sailing the seas?" He asked. "I bet you saw a lot of cool places.

Oh yeah I did. There wasn't a port I hadn't visited or pillaged. I also saw a lot of cool places too both in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean," Chris said.

"Sounds cool. I could never afford anything like that in life," he said. As much as he wished he could take his mother out on a cruise he knew they could never afford it.

"I don't mind taking you on my ship though our father impounded it," Chris said with a frown. "I just got the hull painted, Triton better not scratch it up."

"Really? cool," he said with a wide smile on his face.

"Though you should ask your mother if you can leave first," Chris said.

"True," he said as the train made its way to St. Louis.

By the time they got to St. Louis they were exhausted and had to wait a few more hours for their next train which would take them to Colorado. "Man I'm glad that we can get a break," Grover said as they walked around the Mississippi River.

They were walking alongside a park when a chihuahua started barking at them. Turning around he saw a woman holding the leash. "Um cute dog," he said.

The woman smiled at them, "No sorry but it's a chimera dear."

"Get out of the way! " Chris yelled as the chihuahua growled and began to transform into a large chimera. It was a tall and imposing creature that looked like a lion with a snake's tail. He and Percy drew their swords as the Chimera stood before them. "Echinda long time no see what brings you here?"

Chris stepped in front of him with his golden sword drawn. "You know her?" he asked as he drew Riptide.

"Yeah she is the mother of monsters," Chris said glaring at Echidna.

"I heard you were mortal now but to see you now is so pitiful," Echidna said with a small laugh. "You both dare defy the gods? I think it's time I teach you both a lesson."

"Percy be careful that thing is poisonous," Grover said as the chimera charged at them.

"Guys be careful," Grover yelled as they scattered. He didn't know what the mortals were seeing but the few that were around screamed and ran away.

"Come on Chrysaor don't tell me you are that soft now since you became mortal," Echinda mocked. "The gods will try you both as criminals."

The chimera roared and blew a stream of fire at them incinerating the grass around them. I have to get close enough to land a hit. Gripping his sword he attempted to slash at the chimera but it effortlessly dodged the attack and went for him. "Look out!"

Percy tried to dodge the chimera but it merely tackled him and sent him flying against a tree. "Percy!" Grover yelled.

Damn it He gripped Riptide and tried to slash at the creature. But the chimera swatted him with its tail sending him flying. He turned as saw the river beneath him and closed his eyes as he made contact with the water.

He saw various pieces of trash and debris in the water as he sank below. Well I'm glad I'm a son of Poseidon or else that would've hurt. Looking around the murky he was surprised when he saw a familiar face pull up in front of him.

For a second he thought it was Chris but he realized it was someone else. "Um Tristan right?" he asked. The guy looked just like remembered at school except his lower body was like a merman.

Tristan folded his arms his gaze wasn't that friendly. "Looks like you made it this far. Father is making sure neither of you die." His tone was borderline condescending but he did his best to not frown at him.

"Uh thanks," he said scratching his head. "You're Triton right?"

"Yes our father's rightful heir," Triton said curtly. "But don't say my name out loud now, you never know who might be listening and if the enemy found out I was with you guys even stronger enemies will come."

"I see," he said. Triton's gaze was intense and wasn't that friendly.

"Anyway go to Santa Monica Pier I have something for you over there," Triton said.

"Why can't you just give it to me here?" He asked.

Triton gave him an incredulous look, "Because you might lose it."

"Fair enough," he said with a shrug. I can't argue with that.

"Anyway be careful and don't let our father down," Triton said before disappearing.

Well Chris was right he seems like a dick. He quickly swam to the surface and saw various cop cars driving along the street. "Well this isn't good," he muttered as he swam to shore.

As soon as he got to shore he heard Grover call his name. "Percy!"

Turning around he saw Grover and Chris run towards him. "Hey guys," he said as he caught his breath.

"Thank gods you are ok," Grover said as he ran up to hug him.

"I'm good thanks," he said looking at Chris. "What happened to the Chimera and that lady?"

"We took care of her," Chris said as he carefully scanned the area.

"Oh yeah I met Tristan," he said as he told them both about his encounter with Triton.

Chris frowned, "Well I hope he didn't give you any trouble. Either way, a gift from our father is useful."

The sound of police sirens caught their attention. "We should get going," Grover said.

AN: So I decided to redo this chapter because I found that the original chapter 7 was too big. The next chapter will cover the material that was left out of this chapter.

Triton will appear in later chapters, the problem with using him is that he is a god and could easily defeat anybody so I have to use him carefully. He'll teach and train Percy along with Chris later and play a more active part in the story later.

I know Percy seems like he is being overshadowed but he'll have his time to shine, remember Chrysaor still has his experience and combat knowledge.
