Ch60

Percy blocked Triton's trident with Riptide. His older brother's strikes were getting more and more agile while his face remained stern. He isn't in a good mood. Triton's face was looking more and more gaunt each time he saw him and he had been more temperamental lately.

He blocked the Trident that came at him and went for an opening with Riptide. Triton easily avoided the attack and countered with his trident and went for a counter attack. He quickly blocked the attack and pointed his blade at Triton's chest. "Not bad but you'll need to be more prepared for the coming fight," Triton said as he pulled his trident away.

"I know," He said as he gripped Riptide in his hand. His body ached all over from the sparring session, Trident had been pushing him harder and harder these past few months. "How is our father doing?"

Triton looked out at the sea and frowned. "Our father's realm is becoming more and more unstable. Old monsters are coming back and our resources are being split thin."

"I can help," he said quickly. "I'm sure Chrysaor will be willing to come as well."

Triton sighed, "Father says both of you are to remain up here. Your destiny is up here, don't worry I'll do my best to make sure the enemy doesn't destroy our father's domain."

He capped Riptide and put it in his pocket. "Well tell him I'm here if he needs me."

Triton nodded and gave him a small smile. "I've taught you to the best of my ability. However, I'm afraid I may not have the time to train you much longer. My duty is to help serve our father and defend his realm."

"I understand," he said looking out into the waves. "Thanks for teaching me." His heart raced in his chest. He was nervous for this summer, everything he trained for would be coming to an end.

Triton nodded, "When you lead your fellow demigods you must be the leader. Be strong and confident in your decisions, I know you can lead them well."

"Thanks," he said his face turning red. "I never led an army before." Sure he helped defend camp last year and defeated the army that tried invading but still leading the entire camp was something else.

Triton patted his shoulder. "Don't worry you'll do fine. Just trust those who work under you and remember to show mercy when its needed and be decisive in your decision making."

"Got it," he said taking a deep breath. No pressure at all.

"Anyway be safe," Triton said his face suddenly appearing much older than usual. "I have to go help our father."

"Got it," he said. "Be safe. Hopefully we can see each other again soon."

Triton smiled at him, "Me too. When all this is done we will celebrate. Be safe Percy and remember are father has great hopes for you." With that Triton walked to the shore and disappeared into the water.

He sighed as he looked at the shoreline. Looks like things will soon come to an end. Soon the enemy will make their move and we will have to be busy. His heart pounded in his chest as he made his way home.

Things had been going by quickly in his life, from his mom remarrying to the constant threat of Kronos's army he had been busy non stop helping defeat enemy monsters. I'll be ready though. I won't let Luke and Annabeth get away with this.

"Hey Percy were you out training again?" Asked a familiar voice.

He turned around and saw Rachel walk up to him with a smile on her face. "Yeah I was," he said stretching his arms. "How was your day?"

"Fine just busy painting," Rachel said as they walked towards his mom's place. "Do you think you'd be able to go to the Caribbean with us this summer?"

"I'd like to but I'm not sure with all that's going on," he said. He really did want to take a nice Caribbean vacation but the Camp needed him right now more than ever.

Rachel nodded. "I understand. Are things at camp still hectic?"

"Yeah everyone is going out on missions to destroy monsters," he said. "The enemy is going to make their move soon we have to be prepared."

"You mean Kronos and his followers?" Rachel asked softly.

He nodded feeling a chill around him at the mention of the Titan Lord. "Yeah him."

"Don't worry I'm sure you can handle it," Rachel said patting his back reassuringly. "You're strong and brave, I know you will find a way through this."

He smiled at her, "Thanks. I'm glad we can still hang out even during these tough times, they really are a relaxing change from my life."

Rachel smiled at him, "We're friends Percy I'll always be here for you."

He could feel his face redden, "Thanks. Anyway I better get going now."

"Good luck," Rachel said before hugging him.

He quickly hailed a cab and headed towards camp. Summer is approaching quickly. Tyson we'll avenge you here. The memory of his cyclops sibling still made him want to cry. I'll stop Caenis next time. I'll stop her for good.

When he arrived at camp he headed towards the Poseidon Cabin and found his brother Chrysaor stretching outside.

"Hey Percy," Chrysaor said with a grin as he stretched his arms.

"Glad to see you are well again," he said. His brother had fully recovered thanks to the help of Asclepius and thankfully didn't leave any permanent damage.

"Me too," Chrysaor said as he drew his golden sword and swung it in the air. "How was training with Triton?"

"Alright. Seemed a little tired," he said sitting on the steps and watching his brother practice his swordsmanship his muscles moving like an animal pouncing on prey.

"The war is coming at us from all sides," Chrysaor said slashing at the air with his blade.

He took a deep breath and rubbed his temples. "I've trained a lot for this but right now there is only one enemy I want to defeat, probably more than Luke or Annabeth at the moment."

"Don't worry I want to defeat Caenis too," Chrysaor said. "The problem is her skin is nearly indestructible, killing her won't be easy."

He frowned. "How did she die originally?"

Chrysaor sheathed his sword and looked up at the sky. "Buried alive and turned into a bird."

"So we could possibly drown her?" He scratched his head.

"That is an option," Chrysaor said sitting next to him. "Either way we'll have to work together to defeat her."

He nodded clenching his fists. "She'll pay for killing Tyson."

His brother patted his back. "I know how you feel but don't let your anger consume you or it could be your downfall."

"I know," he said softly looking down at the ground. "It's just despite all my training I still felt helpless watching Tyson die and you get injured."

"Trust me even the strongest lose," Chrysaor said calmly. "I've lost many battles you can't win them all you can only prepare for the next one." His brother wrapped an arm around his shoulder. "I know Tyson is resting in peace now cheering us on. Lets make him proud ok?"

He nodded cleaning his watery eyes. "How are things here?" The camp had been becoming tenser with each day as more and more campers went out to attack Kronos' forces.

"Alright," Chrysaor said as a bunch of campers walked past them. "Me and Reyna have been practicing drills with the other campers. Circe and Asclepius have been helping out where they can too. Have you still been in contact with Bianca?"

"Yeah I am," he said softly. Chrysaor was the only person he confided in about his plan to visit the River Styx. "I trust her."

"Good luck," his brother said looking up at the sky. "With that power comes with a lot of responsibility."

"Do you miss being immortal?" He asked. A part of him was still anxious about having the Curse of Achilles and even though it wasn't immortality in the sense that Chrysaor or Triton had he was still curious about it.

Chrysaor frowned. "A bit. Being mortal has given me a lot of insight of a lot of things even if life feels slower. Percy gaining the Curse of Achilles may change your focus on things just be aware of what you cherish the most."

He nodded looking down at the ground. A part of was curious about immortality even if he was still human the idea of having the Curse of Achilles and being able to defeat armies was slightly appealing.

"What could change about me?" he asked softly.

Chrysaor sighed. "Percy I was bad guy for centuries before I met you. I only cared about myself and many other immortals are like that. Being immortal can make you take the small things for granted. Things like loved ones who aren't immortal or other things you cared about."

His brother turned to him his gaze beneath his sun glasses was calm. "I'm serious when I say this but being immortal would be horrible for you. Think of your mother, could you see her die while remaining sixteen? Me and Triton are used to our loved ones dying but can you do it while continuing to not age?"

He flinched thinking about his mother who had done everything to raise him right. I couldn't forget about her or cause her pain. Yet his brother's words rang in his head. He thought of how it would be to see his mother and mortal loved ones die before him while he remained immortal.

"I just want the curse to defend camp," he said softly.

"A noble cause but just remember power can change a person," Chrysaor said. "If you go with your plan think of your mortality and cling to it. Your mother raised your right I know you'll make her proud."

"Thanks," he said softly. Shaking his head he looked out at the distance. "Summer won't be easy but I'll do all I can do to defeat Kronos."
