The Doctor was waiting in the interrogation room she was taken to by Faith. Faith wasn't the one who came into the room, however. That would be a man with greying hair and a more chiselled jaw. "Ah, you must be one of Detective Moreau's seniors." the Doctor said gleefully, "I would shake your hand, but I'm currently cuffe-"
"You have been read out your rights and came voluntarily, yes?" the man replied.
"I have and I did. Now," The Doctor rubbed her hands. "down to business."
"So you were arrested by Detective Faith Moreau for the impersonation of a federal agent, a crime punishable with either a fine or three years in prison. However, we are considering making a move to put you in a mental institution due to the claims you have made."
"All of them true."
"So that means you are an actual alien using a time-traveling spaceship?"
"I am. And it's also a likely possibility that someone in this city is abducting people and turning them into weapons of mass destruction."
"Bold claim for someone who has no eviden-"
"You know, we've been talking all this time and I haven't gotten a name out of you. What is it?"
The man was beginning to look frustrated. "If you must know, I'm Captain Nathan Teranzo. Interrupt me again and I'll class it as assaulting a police officer."
"Right. Sorry, Captain."
"So, you claim that the missing person was not just abducted, but taken to be converted into a..." Teranzo looked through his notebook. "Dalek? What even are those, anyway?"
The Doctor leant forwards with a stone-faced expression. "The Daleks are the most despicable creatures in the entire universe: mutants encased in powerful machinery capable of taking over an entire planet, and that's just one Dalek on its own. We need to stop this process before this world is subjugated by them."
"Oh really. And just exactly how are we going to stop this "Dalek" threat?"
"By finding the man who was abducted."
"Good. I'll get a team organized to search for that trainer."
"What if I came with you?"
"Oh, no no no no. You're a psychopath who thinks that some sort of conspiracy is going on."
"...And who knows the Daleks better than anyone in this entire room! Let me help you stop them from killing us all, at least."
Teranzo was frustrated, but knew the Doctor wouldn't stop. "Alright, fine. You're free to go, but only if you help us."
"Thanks, Captain."
"Don't push it."
The Doctor was uncuffed and ready to go. "Are my companions here?"
"Companions? You mean those two guys that were with you?"
"I do."
"They're behind the mirror. Just keep in mind you are going to be under heavy surveillance."
"Well, I already had that in mind. Now," The Doctor clapped her hands. "let's stop the world from ending."
The group, including the Doctor, Jessica, Khaldun, Faith, and Teranzo, got to a chapel in North Rampart Street, the place where the missing trainer was allegedly taken. "So you are saying that someone abducted this man to turn him into a sentient weapon of war?" Khaldun asked the Doctor while looking in a bin.
"Yup." the Doctor replied while looking at the symbol, "I met the Kaleds long ago, but the last I saw of them, they were all either being converted into Daleks or massacred by them."
"Oh," Jessica joined in while looking at the floor for clues, "that's horrific. Who would make something that would wipe out their own species?"
"A mad scientist. That's who." The Doctor turned her head to Faith. "Detective Moreau, can I borrow you for a bit?"
Faith arrived on the Doctor's left after looking in the trainer's car. "What is it, Doc?" She asked.
"That symbol could not have been made in any other way than by being scorched. See the edges?"
"I do, and those lines could also be done with spray paint with enough skill."
"Look closer." Both the Doctor and Faith knelt to see the edges better. "The lines themselves are pitch black, but the edges are a gradient from black to a light orange."
"...like oversized burn marks on concrete. Excellent deduction."
"Now to find where he's been taken to." The Doctor sniffed the symbol much to the confusion of Faith. She stood up and turned to Captain Teranzo. "Hey Captain, I know where our abductee may have been taken to!"
"Oh, really?" Teranzo replied, "Where exactly do you think he might be?" The Doctor smiled back.
The group would drive to a welding and repair shop in Paris Avenue. "So to be clear," Faith began, "you got the place where you believe that someone was being taken to after sniffing the burn marks?"
"Indeed I did." the Doctor replied, "Who knew that an inconspicuous two-storey house could be where a Dalek could be made?"
"You don't know how often people commit crimes in seemingly peaceful places, Doctor." Teranzo remarked, "Last year, a drug empire was taken down after a meth lab was busted in a building similar to this."
"Well, we're not dealing with drugs this time, we're trying to stop the world from ending."
The group got to the front door and Teranzo knocked on the door, but nobody came. "Damn it!" Teranzo grunted, "We can't get in there without a warrant."
"Or probable cause." the Doctor replied, "I think I hear a robbery going on in there."
"She's lying, but I have to ignore it." Faith said, "Lives could be at stake."
Teranzo smiled. "Let's stop the world from ending."
The group busted through the door and searched throughout the house, but with all their effort, nothing was found. "Damn it!" Faith said after grabbing the Doctor by her shawl, "You showed truth on your face and there's nothing here!"
"I know it's here, Detective." the Doctor replied, calm as she could be, "I can still smell it. There must be a hidden entrance somewhere." The Doctor noticed something odd next to the forge: a faint square outline. "Like under that crucible over there, for example."
Faith turned to the crucible after the Doctor pointed at it. Both went to the forge and moved it. "Doesn't look much like a trapdoor though, does it?"
"Because judging by the shape and faintness of the outline, it's not one. It's a pressure plate."
"Huh. You'd think that a heavy forge like that could trigger it."
"Not if it didn't fit." The Doctor put her foot on the square and it went down, opening a door that caused the carpet to fall in, showing the hole and the stairs that go down said hole. "Captain!"
"What is it, Doc-oh my God!" Teranzo yelled as he came in with Jessica and Khaldun.
"What the hell could be at the bottom of there?" Jessica asked.
"Most likely, the place where the Dalek is being made."
Teranzo got to his walkie-talkie. "Requesting backup. Come immediately."
"May I talk to you in private, Captain? Everyone else can go down and wait for us."
"But Doctor, you know about the-"
"Detective Moreau, it's fine. Me and the Doctor can catch up. Go down with the Arab and the lady beside me."
"But Captain!"
"That's a direct order, Moreau!"
Faith nodded. "Come with me." Faith, Jessica, and Khaldun all got down the staircase, leaving the Doctor alone with Teranzo.
"Now, what is it that you wan-"
"Stop the lies, Captain."
"What do you mean "Stop the lies," Doctor?"
"Dark hair, dark eyes, a build showing more widely-spaced ribs, and a distinct coppery musk. If I'm not mistaken..." The Doctor got her sonic screwdriver out of her satchel. "...You're a Kaled."
