She stormed through the hallway, students practically jumping from her path the moment they saw her. If she had been in a better mood she might have pondered if this was what Snape felt like when she was angry.

But the thought never occurred, because the woman was so furious, she could barely think straight. The doors to the library burst open with such force that it sounded like a clap of thunder, earning the librarian's ire, which quickly melted away into fright as she beheld the woman scanning those present.

Grace Riddle didn't see her target, but she did see those who might point her in the right direction. Stomping up, she slammed her hands onto the table shaking the papers and ink bottles before leaning in, voice dropping low as she nearly hissed out her question, "Where is he?"

Hermione Granger, naturally, leaned backwards, eyes wide while the other two Gryffindors stared directly back.

She had to hand it to them, reluctantly, the twin Potters certainly had courage.

"We haven't seen him." Harriet answered, her redheaded sibling crossing her arms in silent agreement. "And even if we had we wouldn't be answering you when you're acting like this."

A snarl quickly formed on her face, and she appeared ready to give an answer before straightening back up, turning, and leaving the way she came.

She found him a short while later, talking and laughing with Lovegood and the youngest Weasley as if nothing were amiss, as if he were completely innocent. "Leave, now" she demanded, earning a frightened squeak from the redhead who promptly grabbed her friend's arm and practically pulled her away, leaving just Harry and her in the hallway.

"You know, I was having a conversation, you didn't need to be..."

"Do you think this is a joke!?" she forcibly interrupted, earning a frown for her efforts. "We did this to protect you!"

His eyes narrowed, "And I did it to protect them. Because I'm not the only student foolish enough to go looking for trouble you know."

"You are the only one repeatedly hospitalized because of it!"

"And yet I'm still here, must be doing something right."

She pushed into his personal space, teeth shining white as she loomed in closer to him, "And what do you think your parents will say?"

He had the gall to look as though he were deeply pondering the question, letting moments tick by in which her blood continued boiling, before giving his answer, "Well, I would imagine they will be rather upset and yell at me or even ground me. Considering there isn't much they can ground me from while I'm at Hogwarts though it isn't really that important. Besides, when they ask for my explanation, I think anger will simmer into angry understanding."

"Understanding..." The professor repeated, "you honestly think your parents will 'understand' the fact their son is once again trying to get himself seriously hurt!?"

"I'm not trying to get hurt!" He almost shouted in response, "I'm trying to make sure no one else does, because once again all the 'adults' in the situation are uselessly standing around or making everything worse. So yes, professor, I offered a date to the winner of your tournament so that on the off chance something bad happens I can stop a teenager from being mauled by a damn werewolf!"

He turned and stormed off, and this time Riddle only just held herself back from going after him.

***HP:O ***

"We could ban him from going."

The Headmistress sighed as she leveled a gaze upon the boy's Head of House, "Do you truly believe that would stop him? Every time we have 'prohibited' him from doing something he ends up doing what he wants regardless of our wishes."

Riddle frowned, "We could just… lock him in one of the towers. I'm sure his parents would approve given the alternative." Dumbledore leveled a gaze and the other huffed in annoyance, "Well I don't hear you giving any suggestions."

"A compromise perhaps," the elder mused, "they may go only so long as a chaperone attends. We ensure the Aurors are aware of the situation and are nearby as well."

Grace stared off into space for a moment, softly muttering to herself as she went through the plan already forming in her mind, "At least one of us, maybe both. We choose the restaurants and one to two shops they may go to. Floo to and from to minimize travel dangers…"

Dumbledore chuckled softly, "While it would be nice to control every aspect of this little… outing, I doubt the Minister and School Board will go along with such stipulations. We should have a backup option or two in place as well."

"Then perhaps it is time we have our guest take a more active role in her duties."

***HP:O ***

"You want me to escort the victor and their date to Hogsmeade."

Augustina gave Remi Lupin credit, if the situation were reversed, she would have been more than a little concerned or even outraged, yet the woman was rather calm and contemplative about it. "Obviously, we would rather no one go, but my hands are tied. At least this way the risks is minimized."

"Do we know who is going to win?"

Dumbledore glanced over to the defense professor, who gave a slight nod, "I have a fairly good idea of the final contestants at least. I'm sure you've heard that Harry is offering a date to the victor as well."

Both older witches noticed the slight tensing in the Lycan, the curling and uncurling of fingers, the twitching of facial muscles.

Oh yes, she was definitely aware. "We feel the more safeguards in place the better. You know Lycans better than anyone else at Hogwarts and I am sure Lily and James would feel infinitely better knowing you were looking after their son's best interests."

They all knew she was going to accept. Remus Lupin was already to the point of throwing herself into harm's way to ensure his safety.

***HP:O ***

"You're grounded." It was blunt and to the point and Harry Potter just withheld a smile at the man's tone. "For... I don't know, a long time. Possibly the rest of your life? Your mother and I need to talk and so you might be eligible for parole after a few decades depending on good behavior."

"We also discussed just locking you in your room for the rest of your life. I think we could slip lesson plans and food under the door."

He inadvertently froze, memories of the summer after his own first year coming back with a vengeance. Half starved, being unable to leave except to work, he must have stared off for too long as moments later there was a hand, gentle and now familiar, on his face. "Harry? Sweetheart what's wrong?"

For once he came back to the present easily, allowing him to think rather than simply react with fear, and it gave him time to collect himself and give a stronger response, "If you honestly think a locked door will stop me from getting into trouble you are sorely mistaken." Lily's expression flashed into one of painful worry for long enough that any sarcastic humor faded, "You're worried, I know, I understand. You might not think I do but you're wrong. You are worried I will be hurt again, that I'm going to go looking for a fight and be found unconscious or worse. You're worried that every year is going to be this way, that it's never going to stop. You're worried for Amy and Harriet too."

James opened his mouth but not a sound came, and he closed it with clear frustration seconds later.

"I..." Harry spent a moment searching for the correct words, "Someone else's child is going out there too, a teenager who isn't as experienced, who isn't as strong, who isn't as ready as I am. I can't watch them leave the school and pretend that if they don't come back, it wouldn't be partially my fault. I can't look away when others need help, it just isn't who I am."

The two parents shared a look before the man let out a deep, tired, sigh. "We know Harry, after the last two years and the start of this one we know that you aren't the type to just let others fend for themselves but... we want you to understand how scared we are as parents. You're our child and knowing that you keep getting hurt, seeing you hurt... it is tearing us apart, us and the girls."

He flinched and lowered his head just noticeably, "I... I'm not doing this to hurt you, any of you. I just..."

Kill the spare.

Suddenly he was short of breath. Memories he had been suppressing, trying his best to forget and replace with warmer ones of family and friendship, came roaring back.

"I can't stand back and hope for the best, not this time. I can't have that blood on my hands."

Before either could respond, or question further, their remaining two children approached, and the conversation shifted away from the boy.

***HP:O ***

Originally, Harry Potter hadn't planned on being present for the 'tournament.' He was banned and figured that as a sort of 'screw you' to those who had made the decision he would find something else to do during that time.

He even considered asking for extra Potion lessons from Snape, just to rub it into Grace's face. In the end, however, he opted to watch, if for no other reason than it would be decent insight as to the abilities of other students as well as what format would win. He had only seen part of one competition and likely there would be distinctions between that one and one hosted by Hogwarts.

The turnout was even larger than he had expected, with students from all four houses present along with some of the staff. With varying degrees of skill, knowledge, and even age. It looked as though anyone would be able to pull out a victory.

Harry knew better though. The students in the dueling club would, naturally, outperform most others. Still, there seemed to be good camaraderie and spirits were, for once, high.

It was a bracket format, with single elimination allowing them to go through the students quickly to reach those who stood a chance at reaching the upper echelons.

After a few quick rounds Harry was joined in the observation area by both Ron and Neville, who nodded in greeting before taking offered seats.

"Your uh, sisters thought it might be better to have some boys to talk to right now." Longbottom said, earning a shrug from Harry. It wasn't as if he were mad at them or anything, and certainly wouldn't have been upset if any of his friends or family had joined him.

Still, he didn't spend as much time as he should with those of his own gender, especially considering how outnumbered they were.

The redhead spoke up next, glancing about and frowning as he noticed his own sisters' present. "So, who do you think will win?"

He wasn't entirely sure. The boy-who-lived did have a solid guess on who would be in the top four or so but as for who would take it entirely?

A lot could happen in a duel, and he was quick to note this. "Probably one of the dueling 'stars' from the club. Delphini," and here he scrunched his face at the thought, "has a good chance despite only being a sixth year. She duels way above her age bracket but there are also one or two other seventh years who could beat her if the duel goes properly."

Ron nodded while Neville still looked more worried than anything else, though he wasn't quite sure as to why.

"Nev? Are you okay?"

Harry could practically see the shiver that went through the boy. "I just… having to go on a date with Delphini Black? It sounds terrifying."

He couldn't help the snort that emanated. Even Ron was wide-eyed in shock at the response, clearly both had heard enough about the heiress to at least fear her.

How utterly ridiculous.

"Delphini Black might be a stuck-up bigoted brat but she's not scary."

There was so much… awe in Neville's eyes it was as if Harry had just told him he had survived the Killing Curse launched by a Dark Lord.

"Y-you don't think so?"

"Nah, she's just a stupid teenager. There are scarier things to be afraid of, trust me. Sure, she has a reputation, a nasty personality, and is talented but that's about it. Everything else is just… normal to be honest."

Ron glanced back to where the next duel was about to begin before resetting his attention, "Harry… who do you want to win?"

It brought the raven-haired boy's thoughts to a halt.

Want?

He didn't really care… right? None of the girls really stood out to him, at least as far as going on a date with him. Sure, some of them were nice enough but most of the nice ones he could say 'Yeah I would enjoy going out with her' had already been eliminated or were going to be in the next set of rounds.

"I… don't really know."

The other two boys share a, almost worried, glance, "But you told people you would go with the winner, on a date, right?"

He nodded slowly, unsurely, and Ron picked up where Neville left off, "So you must want someone to win."

No, no that wasn't true. He was doing this to make sure whoever won didn't end up with hideous scars and injuries. He was making this 'sacrifice' to protect others, he didn't care who it was.

"I guess I just want the best person to win, someone who wins fairly."

Another look flickered between the two. "Does that sort of thing, I mean, is it exciting for you?"

Shit

He hadn't really considered what others would think, and normally didn't care either, but he couldn't exactly explain to the two boys what he was planning, at least not completely. "I just want to get out of the castle for an evening, you know? I'm feeling a bit too stuck. Even if it means dealing with an asshole for an evening it would be nice to just stretch my legs a bit."

***HP:O ***

Why?

Why was she doing this? What was she fighting and struggling for? There had to be a reason, it was the first lesson taught by professor Riddle.

Always have a reason.

Those who fought without cause, who dueled and hurt others just to do so were sociopaths, did not belong in society, were dogs needing to be put down. She was not a dog, she was a champion, and champions always had an end goal. They did not enter tournaments without something to achieve, did not start a duel unnecessarily.

For a while it had been her pride, to prove she was the best, to show others she was the best. Her mother, her professors, her classmates both younger and older. She wanted them to look at her with astonishment, to be envious of her talents, to wish they were half the duelist she was.

She wanted her mother to do more than give a slight nod in her direction at her achievements.

But this? Why this? Why now? What did she hope to prove in victory here?

An opportunity to go to Hogsmeade? Not worth the time or effort of either the challenges or the reward. She had more important things to do.

The gratitude of the Minster? Ridiculous, her mother spoke often of how weak-willed Cornelia Fudge was, how two faced, how useless. A favor from such a person would be more trouble than it was worth.

Perhaps it was for the publicity, so everyone could see her success, her talent. The papers would write about her, the others would glare and curse but, in the end, acknowledge her talents.

But deep down she felt it wasn't true, deep down she felt there was something... more.

"I would be very willing to go on a date with whoever wins the dueling tournament, if they are interested."

No, no that wasn't it, couldn't be it. He wasn't worth her time or her effort. It didn't matter if he had defeated her in the previous year. Didn't matter if he hadn't gloated or bragged. Didn't mean anything if he continued to help others, both younger and older, with hints and suggestions without so much as a request for something in return.

He was weak, men were weak. Her mother preached this; her family preached this. They were good for one thing and one thing only and nothing further than the continuation of the family line.

So why did she watch him so closely when they were in the room together? Why did she find herself copying his movements, analyzing him so closely, and studying his life?

Why were her dreams so often haunted by blazing green eyes?

"Both parties ready? Begin!"

Oh right, she was on the stage facing off against one of her classmates, some Gryffindor who was foolish enough to sign up because 'their parents bought them a book on dueling last summer'.

It was stupid, they were stupid, and she effortlessly parried the low-level spell they had thrown before a flick of her wrist and a muttered incantation sent them flying to the edge of the platform. She didn't want to win via ring out, didn't want them to make up an excuse on why they were beaten so easily.

"Winner, Delphini Black!"

***HP:O ***

Interesting

Pandora watched as the semi-finals began. Personally, she thought it should have been her future husband on the stage, tearing through contestants with all the skill and power she knew he possessed. None of the brats here were worthy of his time and attention, and she could have shown him just how they were meant to be together on an evening out that he would have undoubtedly won.

But there would be time for such things once the Lycan issue was resolved or in the following year. They still had plenty of time. What irked her more was his offer. Surely, he knew a date with him was worth more than a petty evening on the Minister's coin.

If he wanted something fancy all he had to do was ask her, she would have gladly shown him just what it meant to be pampered by a member of high society.

She watched as her cousin defeated one of her more talented rivals, then she noticed her reaction. The usual superiority vibes were missing, the gloating and smirking so defining in the other Slytherin replaced by something a bit more conservative.

Then she saw Delphini glance into the stands and knew without even following the gaze who held her attention.

What sort of wife would she be if she weren't aware of where her husband was at all times, and whose attention he held sway over?

Would Delphini win? Possible, the other heiress was talented in dueling after all, but the more interesting question was would she take up Harry's offer? Logically there was no reason to. Even with Harry being the most talented wizard at Hogwarts and being near flawless Delphini would never date him.

The heiress Black never dated.

Their line continuance was set up by their mother, picked for good genes and assurances that there would be no interference in raising of a child. Delphini would never marry a man, even if her mother did allow it for some unknown reason.

Pride always was a downfall in the 'main line', pride which led to a lonely existence focused solely on political agenda and 'the good of the family'.

It was yet another reason Pandora was secretly thankful she was a Malfoy instead. It gave her far more freedom over her own fates.

Still, Delphini's attention was scattered, even if it didn't appear as such.

Interesting.

***HP:O ***

Grace Riddle wasn't quite sure how she felt about the situation as Delphini Black's assault on the other finalist grew increasingly intense. On one hand the heiress was an excellent duelist, and if she had to choose a student with the best combat abilities it would likely be her, apart from Harry of course. That said she also didn't like the idea of the pampered rich brat watching her protege's back should something happen. The Black family wasn't exactly known for its loyalty and bravery in combat.

Skill and finesse? Most certainly, but willingness to protect others, definitely not.

Still, it was out of her hands, and she could only pray that between Aurors and Lupin any attackers would be scared off and neither child would fight.

The seventh year hit the floor with a resounding thud and Riddle stepped forward immediately to ascertain that yes, the younger witch had won.

Turning, she noted the odd lack of pride in the victor's eyes and stance. Still, she raised the girl's arm up, "Winner and champion, Delphini Black."

Polite applause emanated from the rest of the room because it had been expected to an extent and no one liked to lose.

Even Harry was clapping and returned her gaze when she met his eyes.

His expression was confident, while the professor had no doubt her own was concerned.

"I've bought you another window of opportunity." The woman noted, voice heavy with disdain and irritation. "This time I expect results. I've spent enough time and resources on this already to have nothing to show for it but a bunch of moping mutts and their pitifully wounded egos."

Greyback snarled as she took a step forward, earning a 'tsk' of disapproval from the shadowed woman. "There will be no problems or interruptions this time. I guarantee it."

"You'd better. The Aurors will be occupied along with any so-called 'escorts' the two might have. I trust you will be able to handle two teenagers regardless of their so-called skill level. One of them is even a boy so all the easier."

The Lycan wrinkled her nose, "As I said, there will be no problems."

Budding romance at Hogwarts!

Despite the horrors suffered by students there seems to be time for something more as well. This reporter has received confirmation that the heiress of the Black family has begun courting none other than the young son of Lily and James Potter. While many likely speculate upon the origin of this relationship I can only assume it began either in the secluded halls of the Slytherin house or after a particularly physical dueling match in the club of which they are both members.

Regardless, a date has been set for them to share a private, and romantic, evening together. Could a future marriage be in the making? Only time will tell, and this reporter intends to give all of our readers a thorough coverage of the Date of Champions following the end of the evening's events, regardless of how late it may be.

-R. Skeeter

Harry Potter, naturally, received another owl following the official announcement from Hogwarts pertaining to the 'Date of Champions', one from his parents. It was full of concern, vague threats to try and get him to rescind his offer, and finally the promise of a follow-up package with 'proper evening clothes'.

The boy-who-lived wasn't quite sure what such a term meant, but figured it was something like what Riddle had purchased for him and what he had worn at the Yule Ball his fourth year.

Throughout the following week nearly every professor approached him, along with his friends and sisters, all offering advice, recommendations, and thinly veiled offers to get him out of the situation.

Ron's, naturally, made him laugh the hardest with the blunt, 'I'll throw a Bludger at you and break your leg if you want.'

In the end he opted out of all the offered help, politely of course, and said he had already made the offer and wasn't going to change his mind because someone he might not have a good relationship with won. Even if he didn't like Delphini Black, and thought she was a bit of a bitch, he didn't want to see her mauled by a Werewolf.

When the big day finally arrived, Harry found himself a bit nervous. He had gone on dates before, but not with anyone so much older than him, and certainly not someone who hated his presence as much as the heiress did. Quite frankly he was surprised she hadn't canceled with him and opted to go with someone her own age instead.

There was still the chance, he figured, of it being an elaborate prank to humiliate him at the last moment, but such a thing seemed more like a former Malfoy's plan rather than someone representing an 'Ancient and Noble House'.

And so, he wore the outfit sent by his parents, nice clothing but nothing too fancy, and found himself walking to the meeting spot, a Floo in the Headmistress' office. Upon knocking he was admitted and found himself a bit stunned at his date's presence.

Not only was Delphini early, but she had dressed up.

It was reminiscent of her outfit he had seen on her during the first Christmas and had cost more than a few galleons.

Turning, she met his gaze for a moment before nodding, "Harry."

"Delphini, you look... nice."

Her eyes widened in surprise for a moment before she seemed to collect herself. "You as well. I trust you are ready for our outing."

From the corner of his eye Harry could just make out Dumbledore doing her best to hold back a laugh, causing him to bite his own tongue to do the same. "Yeah, I'm ready."

She turned and gestured towards the Floo, only for them both to be stopped by the Headmistress. "A moment please if you will. As the Minister's letter informed you both, there will be an Auror presence at Hogsmeade, including each location that you have selected, Delphini. Along with this Ms. Lupin has chosen to accompany you at an appropriate and respectful distance to ensure you both remain safe. We are not expecting any danger, but it is better to be safe than sorry as the old saying goes."

The heiress did not seem particularly happy with the other woman's presence but said nothing and moments later the three departed.

***HP:O ***

It was a nice restaurant, one of the nicest Harry had ever been to, and the prices reflected it. His eyes widened as even the appetizers cost more than what he would see with his family or from his previous life.

Delphini, it seemed, was not impressed, and he could see her frowns, along with the 'tsks' of annoyance, as she scanned over the menu. The waiter was friendly enough but was quickly flinching back when asked why they didn't serve some of the more exotic courses the heiress mentioned.

Eventually they ordered and settled into an uncomfortable silence.

"So," Harry began idly playing with his napkin while trying to think of something so the evening wouldn't drag on. "Why dueling?" This earned a confused stare from the witch, prompting him to explain, "I mean why are you a duelist? Shouldn't you take political classes or something?"

"Politics is for those who do not receive that portion of their education at home." She explained with a note of superiority in her voice. "I have private tutors for important things such as that, most heiresses do." Ah, which was why Cleo did not. Still, it didn't explain his original question and he remained silent as she went on. "As for dueling, it is a way to establish dominance and promote one's accomplishments. My mother was an expert duelist, and she has reinforced its usefulness since I was old enough to talk."

He was about to ask more when a pair of individuals walked up to their table.

"Wotcher you two."

"Tonks?"

The Auror grinned as she gave a nod to the boy, only for it to drop into one of annoyance when the other spoke, "I'm surprised they trusted you Nymphadora. Are you not still recruit level?"

Turning, the older witch forced a smile, "Nice to see you too, Delphini."

The other witch, a clearly more seasoned Auror, simply glanced back and forth, clearly uncomfortable with the argument brewing.

"I was promoted. Plus, the department thought it would be better if someone you both knew was part of your escort."

"I would feel safer knowing someone competent was..." any further insult was interrupted by the waiter clearing his throat and bringing food. The two Aurors went back to their table on the opposite side of the room while from the corner of his eye Harry noticed Remi sit back down in her own spot, having stood after sensing an oncoming conflict.

***HP:O ***

Harry Potter would admit he was mildly impressed. Not only was Delphini not as stuck up and awful as he originally thought, although she was still an arrogant bitch, but they had almost made it through the awkward dinner before something bad happened.

It started as screams from outside the restaurant, both the heiress and he turned in unison to look but not seeing anything. Seconds later Lupin was at their table and the two Aurors were out the door.

"It's fine, nothing to worry about." Remi muttered, eyes peering into the dark exterior lit only by a few opposing windows and some streetlights.

They continued staring for a moment before Harry stood, "We should go, now." The two confused looks he received almost made him bang his head against the wall. "There is a lot of movement outside for this late at night and our two Auror escorts have been drawn off."

Realizing the situation and seeing the staff already beginning to filter out of the room with the rest of the patrons, Remi pulled Delphini up from her seat and gestured towards the rear of the restaurant. "There's a Floo in the back. Go, now!"

The trio barely made it ten steps when the glass behind them shattered. They spun as several Lycans joined their comrade who had thrown themselves through the window.

"GO!" Lupin roared, wand already sending a blast into one as she grabbed a second, which had lunged towards her, by the throat and slammed into the floor.

Harry wasn't intending on running away though, but before he could think of a plan his date grabbed him by the arm and practically dragged him away before slamming the door behind them and setting up a barrier to strengthen it.

"She will be fine. We need to get to Hogwarts and bring reinforcements."

Reluctantly, he agreed. There was no telling how many Werewolves were around, and they could need medical assistance. Locating the Floo he stepped in, grabbed the powder, and said the return location before tossing it.

Then, nothing.

Looking back, he saw Delphini go wide eyed in shock, both coming to the same realization.

"They shut down the Floo."

"It's an ambush."

His mind whirled with options. The best was to go back and help Remi fight their way out but seeing the flickers of fear on Delphini's face did not fill him with confidence. "I don't suppose you have an emergency Portkey on you?"

She stared for a moment, before slowly shaking her head.

Damn

Seconds later there was a banging on the door followed by growling. They were running out of time.

"We need to get out," the witch spoke with a noticeable panic in her voice and before he could shout at her not to, she had rushed to a door leading outside.

Sure enough, the moment it opened a fur-covered body leapt onto her, knocking the girl straight onto her back as shining teeth went for her throat.

A blast interrupted the attack, throwing the monster back as something wrapped around the prone student and slid her along the floor and against a protective wall.

Delphini watched in awe as Harry answered the, previously barricaded, door burst open with a bolt of lightning before erecting a barrier of flames in its place.

"We need to get out of here, now." he commanded, before turning to a nearby wall, wand glowing brighter and brighter before he sent a spell tearing through, creating a large hole and an even larger roar like thunder. This time he grabbed her arm, pulling her up and out into the night air and away from the siege.

***HP:O ***

She watched, lips curled up into a snarl that would befit one of the beasts she had paid to carry out a simple task, watched as the plan came together so perfectly. Aurors led astray, the only adult capable of fighting back overwhelmed, leaving only the two children.

Then she watched from a nearby roof as the boy blasted open a new exit and the pair escaped her trap.

Even so it shouldn't have mattered. She had accounted for everything, or so she thought. As the Lycans caught onto the escape attempt they surged forward. As quickly as they attacked so too were they tossed aside by the force of a hurricane.

Flames leapt, lightning danced, ice bit, and earth smashed. Elemental magic was advanced, highly advanced, and no student should have been so proficient, especially in a combat situation. She had heard the excuses and dismissed them at first. But now, even as she witnessed it before her very eyes, she could do nothing but watch with slight awe as a wizard dispatched dozens of Werewolves with almost lethal efficiency.

He wasn't killing though, that much was clear, but the amount he was holding back in each attack indicated he could easily do so if pushed.

Soon the mercenaries were in full retreat and another opportunity wasted.

Or at least it would have appeared so to the untrained eye. But she had not reached her position out of luck or inheritance. Despite everything she had gained new knowledge from this encounter, and the boy was far more interesting than she would have originally thought.
