Boston Wasteland: May 16 2292

(Play Dear Hearts and Gentle People by Bob Crosby)

The walk to Vault 88 was mostly uneventful, baring the occasional wasteland critter. Bloatflies, mongrel dogs and if he was lucky Deathclaw but sadly not today. Garret found himself missing the old days of when he first exited the vault. Things were more exciting then even if the first time he ran into a deathclaw he nearly pissed himself from fear. But now the most he saw was a bloat fly and a few mole rats that tried to make a quick snack out of him and Dogmeat.

As they walked, Garret took in the sights around him and his dog. It impressed him how in only a few short years the commonwealth was starting to take shape abandoned and destroyed homes where being fixed up or rebuilt. Power and running water wasn't fully restored yet in most of Boston yet that was still going to take many more years before that was a reality, but until then people would just have to make do with water pumps and generators until the Department of Commonwealth Infrastructure could reach them and replace the water pipes and restring the powerlines.

(End Music)

An hour later he and Dogmeat arrived at Vault 88 or also known as the Stone University. Though by now it looked more like a military base at least from the outside with all the fortifications and minutemen guarding it.

It had taken time but thanks to the efforts of both Ghouls personnel and robots the radioactive material had been removed from the area making it safe for humans to come and go from the facility as they pleased without suffering the effects of radiation.

"General." A minutemen guard saluted as Garret and Dogmeat walked into the fort's entrance.

"At ease, private." He says returning the salute. "I'm here on personal business. Have you seen my son around?"

"No Sir. But he is more than likely in the lab with the other scientist sir." The guard replied.

"Thank you, I'll head on down then. Keep up the good work." Garret said before saluting and making his way down to the Vault.

Eostia: Kingdom of Ken

Celestine was in her office going over reports, messages and dispatches that were needed to keep the Alliance going. Her war with Olga had been going on for over 300 years and had taken a toll on all parties involved. But soon she hoped it would all be over Vult and his mercenary company the Black Dogs were invading Garan the homeland of the dark elves as well as the monster hordes that would rape and pillage Eostia.

However something didn't sit right with her and it had to do with her dream. It still ate at the back of her mind. Perhaps the Gods were trying to tell her something. The large black dog that chased her clearly represented an encroaching darkness. But then there was the small brown dog that charged headlong at the black dog with fear that must have meant a determination to stand up against injustice. 'That just left the man in blue that was the only thing that didn't make sense to her, a hero perhaps.' she thought to herself.

"Copper for your thoughts?" A familiar voice came from the entrance.

Celestine looked up and saw her closest friend, bodyguard and one of the Seven Shield princesses, Claudia Levantine walking into her office.

"Oh! Claudia, it's good to see." She replied with a warm smile as she greeted her friend.

"Likewise your Grace." Claudia replied with a smile of her own. "And to ask again Celestine, is there something troubling you?" She asked again, this time a little more direct.

Celestine let out a sigh before recounting her dream from the night before. "And then just as he stuck out his hand towards me a bright light engulfed the both of us and then I woke up." She finished. "Your thoughts?"

Claudia stood there and began to think about Celestine's dream. 'It has to be a warning of the future. But that still doesn't explain the brown dog and the man in blue.' She thought.

Vault 88

Garret had finally reached the entrance of the vault when he ran into Dr. Vergil standing at the security desk talking to a minutemen officer.

"Lieutenant, why hasn't the package I ordered arrived yet?" Vergil asked angrily.

"I'm sorry doctor Vergil but the mail caravan hasn't arrived yet." The Lieutenant replied.

"MAIL CARAVAN!" He shouted. "I specifically asked for it to be brought here via Vertibird. How did you people screw that up?" Vergil asked as his face turned red.

Seeing the situation about to escalate, Garret decided to intervene before it got worse.

"Calm down doctor, no need to bite the man's head off." Garret said, walking up to the two men. "I'm sure your package will be here shortly, I saw the mail caravanner not too far from here. Should be here in an hour or so."

Vergil turned and locked eyes with the sole survivor as he began to calm down. "Sigh… General, it's good to see you. Your 'son' told me you might be stopping by today." he replied with a curt nod of his head and sticking out his hand.

"Likewise Doctor." Garret replied as he shook the Doctor's hand. "Shaun told me you two were working on something very special, so I thought I would stop by and see it."

The two men then began to make their way further into the vault.

"So… forgive me for asking this but why continue to call synth Shaun your son even though he already knows he's a synth?" Vergil asked.

Garret knew many people still wondered why he still referred to the synth child as his son. It didn't take too long for Shaun to come to this realization that he was a synth. Well three years without growing an inch would do that or even going through puberty. If his math was right he would be sixteen years old now. Shaun didn't hold it against him for not telling him sooner but he was disappointed in him for not saying anything.

"Hmm… Doctor." Garret said, catching Vergil's attention. "I can't really give you a good answer that we would both find satisfactory. All I can tell you is that for three years I tried my best to raise him the best I could and give him as normal of a life as I could."

Vergil took in the information he had been given and he could somewhat understand the General's position.

"I knew Father always loved his experiments but even I think making synth children was taking it too far." Vergil said as they approached the final door to the lab. "I know the Director was trying to write a wrong done to your family but….." Vergil couldn't find the words to finish his thought.

Garret lifted hand before patting Vergil on the shoulder in understanding what the man ment. Then the two men stepped inside the lab.

Garan: The Dark Citadel

Olga Discordia sat on her throne pondering how the day was going to end. Would her army be victorious this day or would she be captured and brought back to Ken in chains and paraded through the streets as a trophy for her enemies to gloat and gawk at. Was there a way out she didn't know even now she could feel her powers beginning to fade. All her fellow Dark Elf subjects had fled north by her order. The only two left in the citadel were her and Chleo, her loyal handmaiden to the very end.

Or was it…..

….

Vault 88 Lab

"Hey Dad." Shaun spoke up from his work station as his 'father' entered the lab with Dr. Verigl.

"Hey bud. How's the work going?" Garret asked as he stopped in front of his son's desk.

"It's going well. But what we have to show you here today will help all of mankind." Shaun said as he stood up and walked over to a large curtain.

"Now General, do you remember when we made satellite contact with Robert House in New Vegas?" Vergil asked as he took his place besides Shaun.

Garret cocked a brow. "Yes, I remember. It was quite a surprise to find out that one of the pre-wars greatest minds and businessman was still alive." He answered them.

"Yes and thanks to him and his associates at Big Mountain. We were able to build this." Shaun said as he and Vergil pulled back the curtains to reveal….

"A TELEPORTER!" Garret shouted in surprise.

….

Garan: Outside The Dark Citadel

Vult stood proud as his army continued the slaughter of the monsters that made up Olgas army. With his giant sword he cleaved another orc in half its blood spewing out as it fell from the mighty blow. He grinned wickedly as he looked upon his slain foe and then up at the citadel where the Dark elf queen.

'Soon…' He thought to himself. 'Soon I will achieve my dream and make all the women of this world my slaves and it all starts with that Dark Elf Bitch.'

Vault 88

"That's right, General. Thanks to the schematics sent to use by the Think Tank we were able to recreate the teleporter." Vergil answered Garret's surprise question.

"You see Dad today we're going to be doing a live test." Shaun spoke up with a smile on his face.

Just then the lieutenant from earlier walked into the lab carrying the package for Dr. Vergil.

"Here you are, sir, sorry for the delay." Said the lieutenant before saluting his general and handing the package over to the scientist and then quickly exiting the way he came.

Vergil then opened the package to reveal a glowing glass like piece of ore.

"Finally the Ultracite." He said as he lifted the ore from the box.

He then handed it to one of the other lab techs who then placed it into a chamber in the teleporter.

"And with the last piece we can begin." Shaun said as he walked over to a terminal before turning it on revealing a black and white video feed of a floating brain in a jar with three video monitors showing two eyes and a mouth. "Dr. Klein, we're all set up on our end. How's it on your?" He then asked the now named Klein.

"THE TELEPORTER IS READY, AND THE LABOTAMITE AS WELL." Klein replied.

"Will you quit calling me that? You've known my name for years you Jackass." A voice off screen yelled.

And with that the power up sequence began.

Garan: The Dark Citadel

Olga stood in the center of her throne room and began to chant a spell that she hoped would summon a champion to save her and Chleo. She might not have much of her power left but what she had she would pour into this one last effort.

Meanwhile in the hall leading to the throne room Chleo stood guard the last line of defense for her mistress.

"Please my queen hurry." she whispered to herself.

As she stood facing the opposite end of the hall behind her bright white light started to emit from the door.

Vault 88

Sparks began to fly from the machine as it began to emit a bright light from the nodes.

"WHAT HAPPENING?" Garret shouted.

"I DON'T KNOW." Shaun yelled back.

"SOMETHINGS CAUSING THE MACHINE TO OVERLOAD." Vergil shouted.

"CAN WE TURN IT OFF?" Garret yelled hoping for a yes.

"I ALREADY TRIED." Vergil replied. "THE CONTROLS AREN'T RESPONDING."

Suddenly there was a small explosion and the light became brighter and brighter.

"IT'S GONNA BLOW! TAKE COVER!" Garret shouted as he pushed both Shaun and Vergil to the ground before jumping on top of them to cover them from the impending explosion.

Ken: White Citadel

Celestine was walking in the palace garden, taking in the beauty of the flowers. It was peaceful and just what she needed to clear her mind.

But something felt off to her. As she looked up the brightest light she ever saw was emanating from the north towards Garan. 'What could Olga be trying to do?' She thought to herself.

"Your majesty!" Cried Claudia as she ran in, flanked by two princess knights.

"Claudia what is it?" She asked.

"It's that light we need to get you to safety." Claudia replied.

As Celestine and her escort began to make their way back inside, they soon found themselves being enveloped by their surroundings.

….

All throughout both worlds a massive bright light engulfed both the American Wasteland and Eostia. When the light cleared only one of those land masses is still where it's supposed to be.

Vault 88

A green light suddenly flicks on in the dark smoke filled room as a figure and two others stand up from the ground.

"Alright, who's not dead." Garret shouted into the room.

Garret received a combination of moans, groans, and a few swears as his reply. Just then the door to the lab opened and in came running Minutemen guards, some armed with fire extinguishers and a few with weapons just in case something or someone was a threat. Also what followed in behind them was Dogmeat who was whimpering as he ran up and leapt up on Shaun and proceeded to lick him out of concern.

"Hehe." Shaun laughed from the doggy kisses. "I'm alright boy. I'm okay." He then patted the dog's head.

As Garret looked around he saw that the teleporter was completely destroyed and the lab was in ruins.

"Alright everyone who's not currently putting out fires make your way to the exits and anyone who's injured make your way to med-bay to get patched up." Garret ordered as he made his way back to the surface.

On the surface Garret took a deep breath allowing the fresh air to enter his lungs and purge out the smoke he breathed in. Behind him stood Dr. Vergil. Shaun had elected to stay down in the Vault to try and if he could try and salvage what they could from the lab. To his side Dogmeat had laid down and was now staring towards the horizon.

"Well that could have gone better." Garret said as he finally turned to face Vergil. "Wouldn't you agree, Doctor?"

Vergil rolled his eyes at Garret's question. "To say that it could have gone better is an understatement. No, whatever happened definitely should not have happened." He exasperated.

Garret started to pace as to how this could have happened.

"Could the Ultracite have caused this?" He asked.

Vergil put his hand to his chin as he began to ponder the thought. "It's a possibility but even in our own simulations and tests we never had a reaction like that." He replied.

Before Garret could ask something else a Minutemen Corporal came running up to him.

"Sir." The Corporal saluted, which Garret returned.

"What is it, Corporal?" Garret asked.

"Sir. Message from Colonel Shaw, she says you need to get back to the Castle ASAP. She says there's something strange happening off the coast and you need to see it." He answered.

Garret was surprised. Ronnie he knew was as stubborn as a Yao guai and took a hell of a lot to startle Ronnie and he should know not even when the Institute attacked the Castle did she even bat an eye at it. Even when the Synths were popping up right inside the Castle's courtyard she didn't even flinch.

"Alright Corporal get me a Vertibird?" Garret ordered.

"It's already on its way sir. Should be here in a few minutes." The man replied.

"Good, you're dismissed. Doctor?" Garret now turned his attention. "I'm gonna need you to come with me. I'm gonna need a scientist point of view when we get there."

"I'll get my things and meet you at the Vertibird." Vergil replied before jogging off back down into the vault.

As Garret turned and started walking towards where the Vertibird would pick him, Dogmeat and Vergil up. He couldn't imagine just how much his world and everything he knew had just changed.

…..

Garan: Dark Citadel Throne Room

The room was filled with Vults Black Dogs. In front of them on the floor was a chained up Chleo and Olga. Both women had been subdued by Vult and his men.

"Men We've Done It!" Vult proclaimed to the cheers of his men.

"You damn filthy HUMANS!" Chleo yelled. "Once I break out of these chains I'll gut you all for your transgressions!" She roared.

"Chleo." Olga spoke up with the look of defeat still on her face.

Chleo stopped arguing but continued to glare daggers at Vult and his men as if her glare could kill them alone.

Vult could only smile wickedly at the two dark elves. His mind filled with lust and perverted thoughts he was going to subject them. But for now he had other things to attend to such as getting Olgas monster army to work for him.

"Take them to the dungeon. I'll deal with them later." Vult ordered as he sat down on Olga's throne showing who was now the true ruler of this land.

As the two elves were being led to the dungeon nobody except Chleo noticed a strange figure standing just out of sight in the far corner of the room. From what Chleo could see he wore a long dark duster with armored shoulder pads. His face was covered by a mask and helmet on his head and it had glowing red eyes staring right back at her. Before she could even try to get her Queens attention. The figure places a finger to where his lips would be telling her to keep quiet. She quickly took the hint and kept walking forward.

'It worked.' Chleo thought to herself. 'My Queen did it, she summoned a being to help us.'

As the figure watched the two elf girls be led away he lifted his arm and was soon turned invisible and without making a sound he made his exit from the throne room.

A/N:

Alright chapter two is done and my god it was a pain to write but I did it. Okay so we got all the boring stuff out of the way, which means next time it will be all the fun stuff like military build up, and a trip up to Bath Maine for something very special. If you are a fellow Mainer keep it to yourself. If you're not but you know what I'm talking about, still keep it to yourself.

Anyway I have no idea if I'm doing a good job or not. But a good number of you guys seem to like it so I'll keep writing and we'll see where this insanity goes. Also expect a lot of Gettysburg, John Adams and Civil war music suggestions in the future and also a few fallout songs but most of the time you can pick whatever the hell you want to play while reading. I know that's what I do.

Anyway I hope you all enjoyed it and if you didn't. Well this is still a free country. I don't care, you like what you like.
