Now some of you might be confused about this. Suffice to say, I didn't feel quite right about the ending of this chapter when I uploaded it before, so I redid the ending and added a bit to it. Not a lot or anything but with how I just didn't like it, I figured this would be the best thing to do.
We'll be back to actual new chapters starting next week. Thank you for understanding~
1 week timeskip to Wednesday, December 25
"Ya know Potter. If Professor Snape is so hard on you, it might just be because he expects better from you." I remark to Harry in between bites of our breakfast. "I mean, I'm sure Dumbledore wouldn't hire someone who genuinely hates his students right? That'd be stupid."
Harry for his part just thinks on it for a moment. "Yeah... you could be right. But its just really frustrating all the time!" He says exasperatedly, waving his fork in my direction. "If he was just nicer about it or actually taught us what the ingredients are supposed to do then I might get it, but nope, just follow the instructions!" Harry finishes with, scowling lightly in my direction.
In response, I merely push Harry's fork back down to his plate and answer. "Well Potter, if you can't follow the simple instructions, then you must be pretty terrible eh~?" I say teasingly to him, elbowing him slightly as I lean closer.
"O-oh! W-well um... I guess..?" He stammers quietly, a light blush on his face as he turns away.
Heh~ Harry is a tad cute right now. Wonder what he'll be like once he's older.
...
...
Huh? Where the hell did that thought come from?
As I sit there thinking on where a thought about Harry being cute could have come from, a familiar ding pops up, breaking me from the concentration.
[Christmas Rewards are here. Player is gifted 1 Gacha Coin]
Oh. I forgot that was a thing. Feels like its been awhile since I got a Gacha Coin with everything going on this past week.
[1 Gacha Coin used]
[Mark of Evolution acquired]
At those words, a small piece of paper lands in front of me, a small six pointed star on it.
Quickly grabbing ahold of it when Harry isn't looking and using Structural Analysis on it.
[Mark of Evolution]
[A magical mark that grants 100 to a random Stat when applied to someones skin]
Oh. Well thats pretty good. Lets see what I can get.
I press the paper against my thigh beneath my robes, and instantly feel it applying itself to me. Kinda tingly to be honest.
[Mark of Evolution used]
[Intelligence Stat increased by 100]
[Perk earned for reaching 400 Intelligence]
[Wizard's Ruse: When casting a spell, there is a small chance of not using any MP. If this fails to occur, use half MP instead]
[For reaching 400 in Intelligence, MP enhancement is increased to x8]
Holy crap. That was incredibly lucky. What do my Stats look like after that?
'Status.' I think to myself, pulling up the screen showing them.

Hoh boy. Am I super glad I grabbed the Uchiha's Heir Perk. That just doubled the gain from the Mark of Evolution.
"Rin. Hey Rin, are you listening?"
"Huh? What?" I'm suddenly brought out of my thoughts by Harry, who seems to have been trying to get my attention.
"Jeez. I was asking if we could hang out today, unless Professor Quirrell is still needing you." He says, his voice kinda lighter then usual.
Thinking for a moment on that, I wonder, not sure if Quirrell was still going to be forcing more practice on me. He's really been putting me through the ringer on raising my various combat type Skills.

I've made incredible progress on my Skills thanks to this constant daily Dueling with Quirrell. Its probably the only thing I can genuinely say I've enjoyed about him. Still waiting on my classroom Mastery Skills to Rank up though, they've been stuck at the Outstanding Rank for quite some time it feels like.
"I'm not sure. He didn't say anything about not practicing today, so I assume I'll need to meet up with him again just in case." I reply, letting Harry know as gently as I can.
Harry looks a bit downtrodden at that, though I'm not sure why. Ah well, maybe he'll tell me later.
"Ah don't be so down Potter. We can always hang out some other time. Besides, you should go and see what kind of presents you've gotten." I say, urging him to look at the bright side of this.
At my words though, we're interrupted by a flock of owls coming in through the ceiling. Each one of them carrying letters and a couple packages in others.
One of these package carrying owls actually comes over to me, knocking over my glass of orange juice in the process.
"Aagh! Why??!" Letting out a yelp at this series of events, the front of my robe covered in orange juice. Standing up and furiously stepping away from the table as I try and wipe it all off with a napkin. "Urgh! What kinda luck do I have to have to deal with this?!"
"Hehehe~ sucks to be you Rin." I hear Harry chuckling behind me. "Would you like some help though?" He asks afterwards.
"Ugh, sure Potter. Finish laughing it up and help me out." Grumbling to myself and Harry, greatly annoyed at this happening.
Harry whips his wand quickly towards me, and before I even notice, he says a spell. "Tergeo!" And suddenly the orange juice on my robes just slides off of me, pooling around off to the side.
[Magic Contemplation Activated]
[Player has learned the Liquid Cleaning Spell Tergeo]
Eh? When the hell did Harry learn that?
"Well, I'm certainly surprised Potter. When and where did you learn that?" I ask, retaking my seat at the table, eyeing the package that was delivered. Thankfully the owl already left, annoying bird.
"Oh uh, well, I've been practicing different spells with Professor Flitwick." He says in response. "After I asked him more about my parents, he said that my mom was especially good at Charms, so I asked if he could teach me some more useful ones. So I could follow after her..." He trails off slightly, a sad smile on his face.
"I getcha Potter. No need to explain." I say with a small smile of my own. "And if you ever wanna talk about it, or practice together, just let me know." I tell him.
"Now lets see what this stupid package that almost ruined my robe is!" Tearing into the packaging, only to reveal a small box.
Opening the box reveals a three books tightly bound together with a bit of string, and a letter inserted atop them. Opening the letter I read its contents while Harry takes care of the discarded wrapping.
Dear Rin,
I hope you're enjoying the Holidays at Hogwarts, it's been a lot of fun here at home with Dad and Astoria, alongside Tracey and her parents. We've just been enjoying the various food and holiday spirit we get to have with each other.
What about you though? I'm sure its somewhat boring at Hogwarts without any of us there to help keep things busy. Or even having someone to talk to as well. Though I think Tracey and Hermione together might be a tad much, don't you agree~?
Anyways, I figured that since this was your first Christmas as part of the Wizarding World, that I should get you a gift. I couldn't quite decide between these books which you'd appreciate more, so I decide to just grab all three of them at once!
I do so hope you enjoy these Rin and once again, Happy Holidays~
Sincerely, Daphne Greengrass
Aww~ thats sweet of Daphne. I wasn't quite expecting any kind of gifts from anybody but I'll have to thank her and find something to give her in exchange for this.
Putting the letter away into my Inventory, I then take a look at the books Daphne sent me.
Diverse Dragonology, by Professor Anne
Metamorphosis: Transfiguration for Beginners, by Professor McGonagall
A History of Magic, by Headmistress Oshiro
Huh, each of these looks pretty interesting. I'll have to make some time later to take a look and see what I can find.
"Hmmm..." I sit there thinking to myself as I look at these books. "I need to find something to give Daph and Tracey as well."
Harry merely nods from beside me, seemingly thinking about something himself.
"Well Potter, I'm gonna head out and see if Professor Quirrell needs me today, if not then I'll find ya somewhere in the castle and we can hang out. Ok?" I ask him as I stand from the table, giving him a pat on the back.
Harry smiles back nervously as he responds. "Its-its no problem Rin! I'll probably be talking with Professor Flitwick or something." He says hurriedly, making his way out of the Great Hall with barely a goodbye.
"Huh. Wonder whats up with him?" I comment to myself as I also make my way out of the Great Hall and towards Professor Quirrell's office.
Entering Quirrell's office only to see him at his desk, sorting through various papers with a multitude of different equations of some sort on them.
He looks up at my entrance, putting the paper he was holding down and clasping his hands together as he speaks to me. "Ah Miss Fraener! Perfect timing! Come, come, take a seat with me. We've got much to discuss about where we'll be going today." He says with a bright smile on his face.
"Uhh, sure..." I respond, taking a seat on the other side of his desk.
"Yes. Now I'm sure you had plans for the Holidays, but we're going to be checking out the Lost and Found Room again." Quirrell says, before raising a piece of paper in his hand. "And I've gotten an acquaintance of mine to volunteer to come and assist us with it. You may have heard of him my dear, I hear he's quite popular with the ladies." He says with a chuckle.
I sit there for a moment, not understanding what he means till it clicks. "You mean... Lockhart?" I ask, a disbelieving look on my face.
"Ahah! Correct Miss Fraener! 5 points to Slytherin for excellent deduction." He continues on. "Me and Gilderoy are good friends and fellow scholars in the way of exploring the Dark Arts and their possibilities." His voice giving nothing away.
Hoh boy. This means either Lockhart's a Dark Wizard as well, or he's an even bigger liar about his abilities.
I question him on this. "But, how'd you get Dumbledore's permission for that? Surely he wouldn't allow word of this to get out would he?" My though being that Dumbledore wouldn't want anyone to know that the school had something dangerous in it.
Quirrell merely looks at me in slight confusion before speaking. "Why would he do that? If we need a specialist of some sort to come and assist then both Hogwarts and the Ministry are obligated to work together to make such a thing happen. Once you found that Horcrux of Voldemort's in the Lost and Found Room, and then the situation with Teddy Taylor happened, then we had no choice but to bring in somebody skilled to help figure this out." He explains to me.
I guess that makes some sense, but Lockhart of all people? I guess nobodies figured out he's actually a hack.
"Well... ok? So are we meeting him today at the Room?" I ask, already dreading dealing with the fake.
"Why yes we are! Now let us go Miss Fraener. We best not keep dear Gilderoy waiting for us." He says as he stands from his desk, beckoning me to follow suit.
Before we leave I ask one other question. "And, does he know about my Game? Sir?" Hoping beyond belief that Quirrell wouldn't have told a close acquaintance of his about it for fear of possibly losing me.
Time to go see what this is all about...
We wander through the halls for a while, till we make it to the entrance of the Lost and Found Room. A lone figure standing there waiting for us, cloaked in a lilac robe.
"Gilderoy! Glad to see you once again! How was your trip here?" Quirrell loudly proclaims, grasping Lockhart's hand in a firm handshake.
"Quirrell my good friend, so good to see you. My trip was fine, a bit drab but good to see the countryside after a while." The man responds to Quirrell, his gaze shifting from Quirrell over to me after a brief moment. "Oh? And is this the Miss Fraener you've mentioned before?" He asks, his eyes boring into my own.
"Ah yes. Gilderoy, this is my apprentice, Rin Fraener. Rin, this is the esteemed Gilderoy Lockhart. Be courteous and respectful to him, he's giving his very important time to helping us out." Quirrell says to me.
I let out a small sigh before responding. "Its good to meet you Mr. Lockhart. Thank you for assisting us with this." Keeping my words short and sweet.

What the hell?
Why's Lockhart's name so distorted like that?
Lockhart continues watching me, with a smirk on his face before turning away and conversing with Quirrell. "Well, what do you say we head on inside my friend? I'm keen to see just what is all in here. Especially from what you've told me you've found so far." The two of them turning and heading into the Lost and Found Room, with me following along behind.
We make our way through the organized halls of the miscellaneous junk kept in here. Assorted piles of various books, brooms, furniture of all kinds, and the cabinet that was filled with wands is also front and center now, with some form of chalk outline around it.
"Professor." I start to say as we move further and further in. "What exactly are we looking for?" I ask quizzically.
The two of them stop in place, looking back at me as Quirrell answers.
"Well Rin, we're looking for where Teddy was camping in here. He'd been hiding in here for quite some time as you know, and undoubtedly has a base of operations where he was keeping his supplies." He begins explaining. "And if we can find it, then we can maybe find out who it is he's working for."
At that Lockhart joins in the explanation. "Yes. You see Miss Fraener, once word came to me about some form of conspiracy that had infiltrated Hogwarts, I had immediately sent out feelers amongst all of my contacts throughout the world. So far there haven't been any leads on what this group could be, but I'm confident that if we find something here, then we'll be able to narrow down the search area for where they could be." He explains to me, simultaneously bringing out his wand and waving it in a beautiful arc.
A path forming in the direction Teddy originally came from when Quirrell and I came in contact with him. Large amounts of the junk piles being shifted to the sides, with what looks like a small workstation further in.
"Hmph~ and see? This is where I'd surmise young Teddy was staying while working on whatever project this conspiracy was having him do." Lockhart smirks and begins walking towards the area, Quirrell and I following behind. "Now lets see what this conspiracy was after."
