Kashin knew this wouldn't end well for him, the fact that he was training the young Uzumaki who everyone knew the last surviving Hatake wanted to train. However he had no idea the consequences would be so disastrous for himself. In seconds, Hatake was holding him by his shirt and the last thing he saw before hitting the wall of the Hokage office, was Kakashi's piercing eyes staring into his soul.
"Kakashi, I know you are angry but let him go," ordered the third quietly and patiently while the other Jounin looked shocked or scared.
"But-" said Kakashi staring back at the old man.
"No Kakakshi, let him go that's an order," said Sarutobi in a tone that meant you had to listen to him, Kakashi reluctantly obeyed the old Hokage. Kakashi let Kashin and go and breathed in and out, calming himself down, once he was calm enough, Kakashi decided to ask some questions.
"Lord Sarutobi, I thought I would get to train Naruto?" asked Kakashi.
"Really and what claim do you have?" asked Hiruzen.
"I knew the boy's father and mother," said Kakashi.
"That means nothing," said Sarutobi.
"Huh?" asked Kakashi.
"Just because you think you have a responsibility, does not mean you can just base yourself on that responsibility, Kakashi, you are inept at teaching, your definition of teaching isn't actually teaching but just showing kids what to do and leaving them alone to do it, you don't actually help them or provide assistance, just leave them and hope they figure it out, do you think I don't know how you 'taught' tiger or weasal different techniques?" asked Sarutobi to which Kakashi lowered his head.
"Apologies," said Kakashi.
"Get yourself in line, Kakashi and learn how to properly teach," said Sarutobi.
"Okay, now I have to get back to my team," said Kashin.
"Why?" asked Asuma.
"I have the team doing the tree-walking exercise," said Kashin.
"This early?" asked Kakashi.
"Indeed, they should have both tree-walking and water-walking down before we even begin doing d-ranks," said Kashin.
"You are excused, Kashin," said Sarutobi as Kashin bowed before leaving.
-Back at the training field-
"How are things going here?" asked Kashin.
"Well me and Asashi got the tree-walking down," said Himari "but Naruto has had a bit of trouble."
Naruto and his shadow clones were still trying to get the tree-walking exercise down while Himari and Asashi watched.
"Hmm, Naruto dispel the clones," ordered the young Sarutobi as he dispelled his own clones. He received the memories of Naruto and Himari improving their taijutsu, while Asashi improving his genjutsu detection. Naruto did as ordered and received the shadow clone's memories.
"Okay, now try the exercise," said Kashin. Everyone held a breath as they watched Naruto try the exercise again. He climbed the first few steps and the breath got deeper. Naruto reached the point where he fell the previous time and crossed it going even further than before, reaching the top.
"I did it!" shouted Naruto.
"Yes!" shouted Kashin and Naruto's other teammates.
"So what now Sarutobi-sensei?" asked Asashi.
"Well, now we are moving onto another exercise, water walking which is similar to the one you just did," said Kashin.
"How is it similar?" asked the hyuga.
"It is similar in the fact that it has the same principals but different in the way that you must keep continuous control of your chakra and change your chakra when needed to match the ever changing water," explained Kashin "now let's get going."
"Where are we going, sensei?" asked Naruto.
"To another training ground," said Kashin.
-A month time skip since I don't want to go over all steps of their training-
- 3 Months later-
The training Kashin Sarutobi put them through was harsh and forgiving but needed. Naruto's chakra control and taijutsu had improved greatly to the point that he was now chunin level and growing fast (Naruto had to use some chakra control exercises, which Genin wouldn't usually, the leaf-cutting exercise and the water-fall stopping exercise, combined with shadow clones,).Naruto had mastered the substitution to the level where it required no hand signs and had greatly improved in sealing techniques, he could now make explosive tags, Naruto was given two techniques by Kashin for this, exploding shadow clone technique and the shuriken shadow clone technique.
Asashi Hyuga had improved greatly to Chunin level. He could now detect genjutsu and had learnt some of the basic genjutsu but Kashin had taught the demonic illusion: tree bind death and the false surrounding technique. Asashi used these two to great effect, allowing him to decieve his opponents into seeing things wrongly then used the Hyuga's gentle fist to knock the opponent out. He had also learnt the substitution to level where he doesn't require shadow clones.
Himari Nakamura had learnt two new sedatives, and a poison which was indetectable to the human taste buds and how to threw senbons. Nakamura had learnt this after Kashin had convinced Anko Mitarashi (more like blackmailed her into helping him). Anko grew to like the girl after all the girl had an interest in poisons, something both of them shared. Himari had also learnt the substitution like her teammates to the level where she doesn't require hand signs.
Kashin didn't even want to know everything that the snake mistress had taught Nakamura as he knew it wouldn't be pleasant. They had done multiple D-ranks and the Hokage was a bit angry that the Team wasn't doing more like the rest but Kashin wanted to spend more time training his team that letting them do useless chores.
All three were now Chunin level in all honesty and had mastered two of the three basic academy techniques, which could be used in the field, the transformation and substitution technique.
"Now, since you all have grown skilled enough over two months, I guess I will teach you a personal favorite technique of the mine," said Kashin as he pointed towards the wood.
Kashin quickly went through handsigns and said "fire release: dragon flame bomb!". A giant flame came out of Kashin's mouth as he spit out a flame that changed into the shape of dragon before Kashin stopped the flame by hitting it into the ground, he then did the technique again and used it to hit the ground where he moved the technique into a single area, submerging a tree into the flame.
"If you can learn this technique, then you are going to be ready for C-rank missions," said Kashin. Kashin didn't know what he had done since the kids really didn't like D-ranks, they were annoying and above all useless.
The kids quickly went to work and it took them 3 weeks to learn the technique. Naruto of course used shadow clones and the other two were skilled enough at chakra control to be able to match Naruto's clones.
-After three weeks-
"Today's the day, I guess," said Kashin as they walked towards the mission desk, today was rare as the hokage had decided to help decide missions, relishing the Genin's horror of getting horrible missions, as they enterred Naruto greeted the aging Hokage like usual.
"Hey, you old corpse, how are ya?" asked Naruto to which Kashin, Himari and Asashi all looked at Naruto like he was a mad man before the Hokage started laughing. Himari decided to protect her teammate from any reprucussions.
"Please, Lord Hokage, forgive Naruto for the insult," said Himari placing her hand on Naruto's mouth and pleading with the Hokage who found the situation humorous, Naruto just looked confused.
"He is forgiven and Naruto you should follow her example," said Sarutobi to which Himari let go of Naruto who had bite her.
"Nah, old man, by how you look, we'll be burying soon," said Naruto cheekily.
"Yeah well, if that ever happens, you're joining me," replied Sarutobi.
"In your dreams," said Naruto to which Team 6 just looked between the two.
"You know it would be an honour to be buried along side the Hokage," said Sarutobi.
"Yeah but you're not the Hokage, you're just a cult leader," said Naruto.
"Cult leader?" asked Saruotbi.
"Yeah the 'will of fire', what is that? I am pretty sure it's a cult," said Naruto.
"It is not a cult!" shouted Sarutobi.
"Excuse, excuse me, I am sorry to interrupt this but what is this exactly?" asked Asashi.
"Oh yes, umm guys, this is my first friend, the old man, old man this is the team," said Naruto. Asashi and Himari tried to rap their heads around the fact that Naruto had the lord Hokage as a friend or the fact that they were so friendly.
"I know I am the one who put you onto this team," said Sarutobi.
"Oh yeah..."
"Now why are you here?" asked Hiruzen to Kashin.
"Because we would like to get our new mission, a c-rank, please," said Kashin.
"Ah yes, here," said Sarutobi.
"A bandit elimination mission," explained Kashin.
"indeed, some bandits have been raiding minor villages without shinobi protecting them, you must eliminate the bandits," said Lord Third Hokage.
