Another Chapter. I finally have a real schedule for writing, that works. I have some things to say, but those will come after this. Enjoy
Chapter4
The two teens finally had a day of rest after building their house. Because they wanted the Dragons to be able to roam in it, it turned out to be even bigger than the chiefs house of Berk and took even longer than expected. Together they decided to have a walk and explore the Island a bit more.
Their first date, though none of them would call it that, went relatively good until a shriek interrupted them. Having spent pretty much every minute with the Dragons, both recognized the sound to come from Toothless. The Dragons wanted to rest a bit more, so after hearing the roar, the teens quickly sprinted back to their new home.
Coming closer, the door was wide open, hanging in its hinges. From inside came the low growling of a familiar Night Fury. Astrid knuckles whitened around the shaft of her axe. If Toothless didn't like it, she certainly wouldn't.
Going into the house, Hiccup sprinted to the Dragons. Stormfly lay on the ground, a red gash on her side, just under the wing joint and Toothless stood protective in front of her. Astrid instead sneaked behind the shape in the middle of the room, completely frozen by the sight of a Night Fury.
When close enough, she jumped on the unknown figure and pinned it to the ground.
Hiccup examined the wounded Dragon. The slash wasn't deep, but it would need treatment. He quickly gathered some stolen medicine from towns they came through on their travels, while Astrid restricted the intruder.
After tying her up Astrid sprinted over to Stormfly, worried for her Dragon friend. She could deal with whoever it was later.
The foreign Person looked as both teens helped the Dragon with its wound without it attacking. Even the Night Fury sat there like a big dog holding watch on her, but occasionally looking over to his friends.
"Hiccup? Is that you?" Said person looked to the Intruder for the first time. He knew this voice and seeing her confirmed his suspicion. The blonde hair tangled in itself like always and her face looking in utter confusion.
"Cami? What are you doing here?" He asked back.
"Doesn't matter right now. You know that is a Dragon you are treating right." Cami said back. What was Hiccup doing with that Dragon and why was it just sitting there without fighting.
"I do think so yes." Came his sarcastic reply. "Right. Cami, Stormfly. Stormfly, Cami" He introduced before turning back towards the Dragon.
"You named that beast?" Cami nearly shouted. Toothless quickly reminded her, what position she was in with a loud and threatening growl.
"'That beast' is our friend. And no, I didn't name it, Astrid did." He answered shortly.
"What do you mean friend? Hiccup that is a Dragon and very high treason. You can't befriend a Dragon. They are mindless killers." Cami snapped. Hiccup and her had been somewhat friends due to their similarities in stature and position and now here he stood with a Dragon at his side.
"Oh really, high treason you say. Why do you think I am here and not back on Berk." Hiccup said with a hint of guilt in his voice.
Seeing his sassy posture lesson Astrid laid a hand on his shoulder for comfort. Cami's mouth practically laid on the floor from surprise. Hiccup befriended a Dragon and chose it over his own Tribe and got exiled for it.
"So this is your house?" She asked still in absolute disbelief.
"Technically our house", he gestured towards Astrid "but yes. We live here. Better question is, why are you here."
"Me and some of my tribe went searching for towns to steal from. But it was incredibly boring, so I snuck away and sailed alone. After a short time, I landed here and saw this house."
Hiccup wasn't even surprised. Cami's reputation stands entirely upon her abilities as a Burglar and her craziness. So of course, if anyone sets sail alone to rob random places, it would be her. "That still doesn't explain why you attacked our Dragon without reason."
"You don't need reason to kill a Dragon. They don't have a reason to attack us so why would we need a reason. Anyway, after I saw your house, I wanted to steal just a few things." She smirked. Her real Idea had been to rip this house of everything worth she could get on her boat. "But when I came in, the Nadder laid there. In the middle of the room."
"And you decided to attack an innocent and defenseless Animal in her sleep." Astrid chimed in.
Cami looked at the other girl. When visiting Berk, Astrid used to be absent in the forest training, so both didn't really interact much. "Did you just call it innocent? Berk is the most attacked tribe of us all and you say they are innocent?"
"Yes, and I would say it again. They don't want to raid us. That giant Dragon in their nest forces them to." Astrid replied angrily. Mere two weeks ago she would have given nearly the same exact speech, but back then she didn't know anything about Dragons, just like Cami now.
"I still don't understand why you would choose to live with Dragons instead of your tribe."
"What would you do if your own tribe treats you like shit and the only friend you have is a Dragon? Do you even know how my life was back then? I didn't know what to do. Toothless was the first creature that saw me as myself. Not 'son of Stoick', not 'the village screw-up', not 'Hiccup the Useless'."
"Hiccup." Astrid stopped him. She hated it when he used that Nickname for himself. If he continued doing that, he would never get over it and it wasn't even true in the first place.
"Yeah, sorry." He apologized. Since their first Night on this Island, he swore to not use that Name for himself, but most often he said it without thinking. "But you get my point. Toothless showed me so much. The feeling of freedom, free of all the disappointment and expectations and free of having to be someone I am not."
Cami's face fell slack once again. When they met, she often hung out with him, but he never talked about this. "I'm Sorry. I- I didn't know."
"It's okay, just don't mention us to anybody."
"Are you kidding? Hiccup, you have thought of something nobody would. You have shown we can end this war in another way than slaughter.". Nobody ever even considered to not fight the Dragons, this was the chance to finally end all this and although the Bog Burglars only had irregular and small raids, no Viking would turn down this possibility.
Hiccup looked at the floor. He had tried, but all it gave was hate and disgust from his own tribe. "Maybe, but nobody would hear us out. I tried to show this way to Berk and they didn't even acknowledge what I said. I came here, because I tried. I don't want this to also go away."
A silence befell the house. Cami weirdly understood his reasoning even though she couldn't relate a bit. From all she heard, Hiccup had been treated the worst anybody could and still tried to help the village with his groundbreaking findings. She tried to stand up bot forgot one little thing.
"Could you at least get me out of these ropes." She asked.
Astrid walked over to her and freed the now not unknown intruder. She was still angry that Cami hurt one of her only three friends for the past few days, but that is the Viking way and she had been living by these standards for over a decade.
"So, will you keep this a secret." Hiccup asked, his voice filled with hope. They had been running for days before finding this little sweet spot and now spent whole days building their own house. If an entire tribe finds out they were here together with a Night Fury and friends with him nonetheless, they couldn't stay here.
"Okay. But you allow me to visit whenever I want." Cami responded smugly. She wouldn't get out of here without anything at all. A secret friendship with Dragon keepers was the least to expect.
"Why would you- "he was cut off by Cami's reply
"This Island seems like a nice place to rest and if you get to have Dragons, I want to at least get to know Dragons. Nobody does anything that cool without the legendary Camicazi." She said very proud of herself.
"Of course it's that" Hiccup said to himself. "Yeah okay. How would we stop you from doing that anyway?" he answered. If any Person in this entire archipelago would be crazy enough to coerce with them it would be Cami, or maybe the twins.
"Sweet." She exclaimed and swung her arms in the air. "But I think I have to go now. Mom will be super mad if I get back so better to get back early and save myself from even more trouble."
Cami exited the house in a kind of stiff manner, but nobody really noticed or wanted to further pursue that after everything that just happened. Cami sailed of in her little voyager not long after and Hiccup stayed by Stormfly's side together with Astrid.
…
As Night approached, Hiccup and Astrid didn't get to continue their interrupted walk and got to bed early. This would be the first Night in their fully fledged house and both were extremely proud of what they accomplished.
It had everything they needed. A big enough room for two Dragons and both teens with a huge stone fireplace.
On the other side a few stairs led up to the second floor in which Astrid had her bedroom. Back in Berk she always lived upstairs and grew accustomed to the nice view from the higher windows of a house. Above the quite large hallway, they used the same kind of door from the Terrible Terror cage in the Arena to have a hatch the Dragons could jump out of if they wanted some fresh air. At the end a door led to a storage room, they build mostly out of habit seeing as they didn't have much stuff to put in it. Directly left of the stairs, opposite to Astrid's room, was a small balcony considering the scale of the rest.
Hiccup had his Bedroom back on the first floor, with a side room for sketching and developing Ideas. He already thought of building a forge and improvements to Toothless' sattle. With the help of their Dragons, they implemented stone disks, in Hiccups room and the heart of the house next to the fireplace, for Toothless.
Since both teens wanted this place done as early as possible, they didn't have much sleep, which could also come from the other options of sleeping being not very comfortable. After falling into their beds, Astrid instantly went to sleep together with Stormfly in her room, while Hiccup thought about the discussion earlier. Was it really possible to end the war this way? That Dragon was huge and the only saw its head, but maybe Dragons and Humans could beat it when fighting together.
Quickly after that though, he too fell into a slumber due to his exhaustion.
…
The next morning, Toothless awoke him with little regard to his wellbeing with a slight nudge in the face and a paw in the stomach.
"Was that really necessary." He winced to his friend. A few days after leaving Toothless began to wake him immediately after waking up himself. Most of the time, it meant he wanted to go for an early flight with exception of that one time they were nearly found if Toothless didn't warn them. Seeing as the Night Fury didn't seem one bit distressed, it could only be the first option.
Hiccup got up and changed into one of the spare clothing sets he brought. As he entered the main room Astrid was already up and awake, frantically searching the whole house for something.
"Hey Astrid. What are you doing?" He asked still half asleep.
She turned around at hearing his voice. "Morning Hiccup. I'm searching for my Axe. Have you seen it somewhere?". Normally the first thing she did in her day would be to go out for a bit and train with her axe, but that arose as a problem without her axe.
"No. Don't you always have it with you? How can you lose it?" Hiccup wondered. Astrid and her axe would never be seen without each other, which kind of filled him with joy, since he made that axe for her.
"Normally yes. But after Stormfly got Injured I kind of forgot where I put it." Astrid had rarely in her whole life cared about someone enough to not care about her axe, so it was the first time she actually lost it. Her axe had been out of her possession a few times, but those were just the Twins stealing it.
"Wait a minute. You forgot where you put it when Stormfly got Injured?" He asked. Since that even they barely got out, so she couldn't have lost it in the forest, and even though it was bigger than most the house was not so big as to completely lose something in there.
"Yes?" She answered, not understanding why it was important.
"And since then you haven't seen it." He inquired. He thought of the only way it could have gone missing.
"Yes." She answered again still having no clue what he was getting at.
With that he connected the dots and instantly slapped his forehead. "Of course she wouldn't go without a trophy." He mumbled to himself. Astrid looked very confused so he decided to inform her. "Probably Cami stole it when she left, either as a Trophy or revenge for getting beaten by you."
"Well, she had it coming, breaking into our house and attacking Stormfly." Astrid said smugly. Even if it was a win by sneak attack, Astrid would proud herself in every victory, especially against the heir of the Bog-Burglars.
"You're right, but it's Cami. She doesn't just go without taking the most valuable thing with her. I could go and try to get it back." He offered to her. Astrid had always used that axe since getting it and Hiccup couldn't be prouder of his work.
"You mean We get it back." She said crossing her arms.
"Astrid. Stormfly should better rest." Hiccup tried to reason with her. Most Bog-Burglars didn't fight Dragons often, but Cami was still one of the best Swordswomen of the village and against a sleeping target, she could very much deal good damage.
"Okay. Then I will ride on Toothless with you." Said Dragon looking at Astrid at the mention of his name. "Hiccup, that is my axe and Nobody will steal it without consequences." She exclaimed.
"I am not gonna get you of this am I?" Hiccup asked defeated. He already knew the answer, but having an angry Astrid would never make any flight better.
"Nope." She answered in a matter-of-fact tone.
…
Back on the Island of the Bog-Burglars, Chief Bertha had been called to the docks when a small boat belonging to their tribe had been spotted on the horizon. Her figure stood out over the others with a similar build to Stoick the Vast.
Together with some of her tribe, she waited until the vessel bound itself to the dock and the slim, but equally proud Cami jumped over on the wood.
"Camicazi." She shouted in her obscurely loud voice. "What do you think you were doing?"
Cami didn't even flinch at the screaming, most people would hold consider to be a verbal attack. "I'm sorry Mom, but it was just so boring." She drew out the last words to emphasize that part.
"And because of that, you steal the secondary boat and sail of on your own." Bertha continued. "Did you at least honor our Name?" She asked.
"Of course. I even stole a really nice-" She was cut of by means of not being grounded anymore. Cami screamed at the top of her lungs, clinging to the pressure she felt around her arm.
She looked up, mainly not to see the ground becoming more and more distanced, but instead of the sky, above her she could only see midnight black scales.
"Man. Your mother really needs to learn volume management. I could practically hear her from above the clouds". Hiccups voice broke through her screaming somehow and she relaxed enough to stop screaming.
"Hiccup what is this supposed to be." She shouted at him. Now that she knew this Dragon did in fact, not want to kill her, she could relax to the point of taking in her surroundings. Although she was in the mostly empty sky, everything around seemed full of majesty and life. The air storming against her face felt like a slight breeze and every problem she had felt lifted from her. Was this the feeling Hiccup had told her about. The freedom of doing whatever you want, without constantly having to uphold your reputation.
"A kidnapping." Astrid looked down at her while trying not to fall off. "So where is my axe?" She asked with no regard for her emotional distress.
"Really, you are here for the axe?" She asked dumbfounded. Just yesterday, they had her promise she wouldn't say anything about this so they could live in peace and now they throw that away for an axe. "Well, it is my most precious steal this time." She said to herself.
"So where is it." Hiccup asked wincing in pain. The ride with an angry Astrid was certainly not pleasant, even though she clung to him when Toothless was getting bored and wanted more action. Now with Cami right there, her fists tightened without thinking and Hiccup was unfortunately right there to be clenched.
"In my Cabin, leaned against the wall directly right of the door." She said defeated. Cami understood not to mess with the people who currently had her hanging hundred of faomr of the ground. "Now could you get me back to the ground."
"Oh right." Hiccup said. With that Toothless speeded back towards the docks, Cami again screaming at the increasement of speed.
"Night Fury! Get Down!" Someone in the village exclaimed and nearly everyone ducked or searched for cover from the sound of lightning and death itself.
He dropped her directly before the crowd of Bog-Burglars, some still thinking their heir just got taken by a Night Fury. Astrid jumped off herself, landing on the boat and going inside to retrieve her weapon. Hiccup ordered Toothless to land on the stern post, his figure arched to threaten any of the Vikings.
"Dragon attack."
"Get the Bolas."
"Is that a Person on that Dragon?" The people broke up either to advance on the Night Fury with their weapons or get to stronger defenses.
"STOP!" Cami's voice broke through the screaming and she positioned herself between her tribe and childhood friend, hands held up to prevent any attacks from either side.
Even though the most legendary Dragon of all, never brought down by anybody, stood right before them, her courageous act worked and most people looked to her instead of the Night Fury.
"Cami. What are you doing there?" Bertha shouted as the front person on the Bog-Burglar side.
"Trying to help." She answered promptly and Hiccup looked at her in surprise. He had expected to threaten and dodge until Astrid had gotten her axe and then leave as fast as possible without making much of a riot, if that was even possible while riding a Dragon.
"What do you mean help? You are standing between us and glory. That is the offspring of Lightning and death itself. Nobody has ever come close to it and survived and we are going to be the first ones." Her mother shouted back, quickly gathering all the attention back to herself.
"First off. Wrong, Hiccup has been way closer to it and survived, which you can probably see." She hinted to Hiccup as a way of showing what she meant. "And second. Toothless would probably kill all of you if you attacked him." She continued. The Dragon gave a small croon of approval to her obvious loathing of his abilities.
"Toothless? You know that beast and it's cursed rider?" Bertha asked still not able to speak in a normal volume. Her own daughter had just admitted to knowing a Dragon without killing it.
"Okay I know this seems bad, but when I sailed off alone, I met Hiccup and attacked one of his friends. The Night Fury tried to attack me- "
"You see, those beasts can't be trusted" The chief interrupted her daughter. Not knowing said friend was a Nadder and so also a enemy in her eyes, she cursed her daughter for attacking poor said friend.
"Would you at least let me speak?" Cami shouted back to her mother, matching the tone to show she really meant it.
"Welcome to the club." Hiccup mumbled to himself when hearing this conversation. He too hadn't been heard out when trying to explain things, so it was kind of sad and funny seeing it happen to another one that believed in his ideas.
"Toothless tried to attack me, but only to defend Hiccups friend. He didn't even go for the kill, just distanced me enough so that I couldn't hurt them anymore. Hiccup has found out that Dragons aren't mindless killers and I have seen it myself." Cami explained. This time, most people actually acknowledged her words, due to her status as the heir and reputation as a crazy but skilled child.
"So you are saying that everything our ancestors build up to and passed down over centuries is wrong?" A random person of the crowd asked.
"He just kidnapped you and now you defend him?" another one added.
"Well, I did steal an axe from his girlfriend." She said that last part looking at Hiccup just for the sake of seeing him embarrassed. It hadn't been hard to see what effect Astrid had on him, even if he didn't see it himself and a bit of teasing would always be fun for Cami. "And I Injured his friend enough so that she isn't here." She concluded by way of no Deadly Nadder being in sight. "So we are even in a way."
Following that everything broke out into complete chaos, this time only without he weapons and more directed at the newly traitorous heir than at the literal Dragon still perched on the boat.
"Have the axe." Astrid said to Hiccup, her sudden appearance silencing some of the crowd. Since the Dragon took most of their attention at arrival, few people saw her slim figure dop onto the boat and vanish into the quarters.
"Took you long enough." Hiccup responded and Toothless slid down onto the deck. He stretched out his hand, which she gracefully took and he helped her on the Dragons back. He blushed recognizing, what Cami described their relationship to be a few moments ago.
"Wait!" Cami screamed at the two of them shortly before they wanted to take off and leave.
"What is it?" Hiccup turned around to ask. He had already had enough luck not to be shot down at arrival and the longer he stayed the more he would stretch that bit of luck.
"I want to come with you." She said in a way that left no room for interpretation or jokes. She fully meant what she said and like she said it.
So just a few Infos. First off, I now have all How to train your Dragon books so hopefully I can learn more about Cami than just how she is in other Fanfics. Second off, That new schedule is working great, so new updates may come even faster than before but I cant promise anything. Thirdly and most important, Thank you all so much for the support and attention this is getting. Over 1000 views and over 20 follos or favs each. I did not expect any of this at all. I mainly wrote this for funsies and because I liked this kind of Story and wanted my own take on it. Thank you guys all so much and again, please review if anything bothers you.
Another thing is, I want some of your help. I am extremely bad at names and have some minor or major OC's and want to ask you for Ideas. I will write some general Info so that no Spoilers are coming, but you can still get the Idea of the character.

Sorry for the long ending, but i really dont want to ruin the Story with bad Names and can't think of any good Names for Dragons. Now it's just waiting for the next Chapter.
