A/n: Hello escapees, welcome to another chapter of Mineta the Mayhem. It is officially the thirtieth chapter and also the first chapter for this story of 2023 so I hope that this will be one worth the read. It looks like our prison inspectors are now dealing with a new threat in the form of Diamondeye. The elderly inmate is the sole threat blocking their exit from escaping Hydra Prison; there's no telling what he has in store for them. Let us hope they are up for the task of combating this unusual weapons dealer. Here we go readers!
The strangely inverted form of Diamondeye was an intimidating sight to behold. Due to his entire skeleton literally being on the outside, fused to muscular tissue in a disturbingly unnatural manner, one would consider him weak on a physical level. Practically speaking, it was a wonder that he was alive to begin with, considering that the messy arrangement of skeletal and muscular tissue would suggest that his body was in no way fit for daily living, especially for an elder.
On first glance one would presume him to be a talking corpse. Upon closer inspection, one would notice noticeably black trails that ran along the exterior bones, as if they were exposed to air for too long, or a bone disease of some sort. The faint fleshy odor that the exposed muscles released made one instinctually cringe from his rather warped and distorted being.
As Diamondeye shifted his feet one could hear the crisp sound of crackling bones as if they were stiff and brittle. Each joint would make pops and snaps with each movement, the muscles simply flexing and faintly bulging as they swerved to follow the bones. It was a rather strange reversal of what should be a normal human body.
Despite his abnormal physiology, he had been strong enough to literally remove a guards' arm, with the body of its owner completely missing. Even now, the disconnected limb lifelessly dangled within the tight grip of the weapons dealer, dripping what little life blood it still possessed.
To All Might there was no doubt in his mind that the enigma that was Diamondeye is another high profile opponent that probably matched the power of Lycant and Narcissia. The fact that this particular villain was pushing 88 years old would also make this elderly felon All Mights' senior, making him more dangerous in regards to battle experience. To a younger and less logically sound combatant, Diamondeye was definitely the last thing you would want to encounter, an old enemy with the experience that dwarfed the mass majority of even high ranking fighters, even worse should you underestimate him by his vividly grotesque physique.
The jittery jaw of the skeletal man moved. His voice boomed, piercing the eardrums of the guarded prison staff. Their hands clenched their weapons reflexively, as the sound of the echoing voice banged against their auricles as if someone was next to them, hauntingly uttering straight into their ears. The being who possessed such a voice, about twenty feet away, somehow was capable of demonstrating such vocal projection. It was surreal, and rendered all in attendance intimidated, their nerves twitching from instinctual self preservation.
"I know you…All Might…The legend himself…Our last face to face meeting was 1 hour, 34 minutes, 26 seconds. You are…drastically different compared to what information I could find. Upon your visit, I almost didn't recognize you. Much more frail and lacking much of your reputable muscle density…"
Diamondeye stared for a silent three seconds, the tension within the room weighing down All Might. It was as if the whole world was watching him each time Diamondeye made eye contact. It didn't help that Diamondeye remained stiff, as if autonomously.
For All Might, the hero was more disturbed by the sheer idea of being face to face with a villain who appeared to have confronted with his old sidekick and at the same time was someone who disrespected Nana's sacrifice. This made Diamondeye more of an affront than a simple inmate, a walking mockery to those he cared about, both whom are now deceased and thus incapable of speaking for themselves.
The gemstones that formed the makeup of Diamondeye's optics appeared to reflect a small flare from the nearby lights that lit the room before daring to speak again.
"Now I understand…he succeeded where others could not…to kill a breathing god…and bring about his own mortality with the deprivation of his own strength. The same strength that gave him his own name. A name that carries less weight day by day…"
All might impulsively clenched his fingers tightly. To hear this was definitely bothersome to the once legendary hero. Once again he was reminded about what he had lost. Despite the fact that he was more accepting of his current condition it still stung him to know that he was no longer the hero that he once was. The fact that this felon appeared to analyze the actions of All for One made All Might seethe with the desire to want to engage with this sinister elder. His current health was a burden he wouldn't wish upon anyone, one that was forced upon him, one that Diamondeye appeared to capitalize on.
All Might narrowed his eyes as he gazed upon the gemstone optics with his own frost blue ones. A mere staredown between wizened beings, anchored by age and fueled through the knowledge of their time. Unlike with other villains who were much younger, this individual was far older and therefore the amount of unspoken mutual hostility was heavy between these two. Two nurtured and constructed ideologies, crafted through years of struggle, now deadlocked in one room.
The reason for All Might's repulsion to Diamondeye was not only skin deep. It was because Diamondeye was a villain of olden days, one who would do anything to destroy his opponent, far beyond the limiting structures of right and wrong. A malicious being that lived an entire lifetime of bringing doom and despair like a plague.
Even now through those eyes of his, All Might could instinctually feel his presence. All Might wasn't sure as to what the reason was that Nighteye pursued him in the first place. To warrant his now deceased comrades' attention meant that Diamondeye was a threat that had to be confronted. If All Might's own sidekick had to deal with this now freed prisoner then All Might would have to consider him a class of his own, one that threatened Deku and the great fight against All for One.
Diamondeye took a glance at all the other guards in attendance. Noticeably, he took a peak at Warlow who was still unconscious from his possession from Narcissia. He was carried by one of his men armed with a shock baton. Diamondeye continued to speak, conversing with All Might who still carried Burnin against his right shoulder.
"I had assumed that you would have maintained your stature, considering that you possessed a strength quirk should have enabled you to possess such physique for far longer than most, but I suppose there are things even I have missed within these walls. The years have blurred altogether. A great deal of time has passed. Time has certainly taken its toll on you…"
Diamondeye took a step forward, prompting Moe to light up her right hand with her signature emerald flame. With her sharp teeth bared in a threatening display, Burnin snarled.
"Back off freakshow, or I'll reduce you to ash. Take another step and I'll make a cremation look chill."
"Bold…but unnecessary. You'll find threats alone to be of no use to you here, especially considering there is no way back, your only path remains forward…to me…how unfortunate…" Diamondeye stated, the way he spoke was without pride, as if he was speaking a simple fact.
Monika raised her whistle to her lips. With Diamondeye focused on All Might and Burnin to her left, the hall monitor figured that she might as well take advantage.
'Since these inmates have been aiming for All Might, it's possible this guy too will try to make a move on him. As if I'll allow that.'
Diamondeye immediately turned his head towards Monika in a robotic manner, with a perfect horizontal shift. It irked Hall Monika just how otherworldly Diamondeye appeared. Considering his outward appearance, she couldn't help but find him to be the stuff of nightmares. A perverted shell of a human being.
"I know you…the intern. Hero name, Hall Monika." Diamondeye stated, his manner of speech was more factual as opposed to being from conversation. It was comparable to one reading a textbook, a scholarly analysis. To Monika, the way Diamondeye spoke would suggest he didn't talk to people, he read at people, viewing them as mere mobile walls of text as opposed to living beings. It would appear that based on the diamond coated eyes of the strange criminal, he had begun observing Monika just as he did All Might.
He took another step forward, the soles of his bony feet clacked against the ground, the weight of his exposed skeleton sounded light, as if his body weighed significantly less than what his inversed muscularity beneath the bones suggested.
CLICK
CLACK
The strange quirk user commended. "Monika Takahashi, age seventeen, ambidextrous. To contend with the likes of Lycant and Narcissia is no small feat. They may be currently hindered with quirk inhibitors, but they are quite formidable even at their most fragile. I've seen many killed by their hands in these same halls, many who were arguably more stronger than you. Then again, I don't think any of us could be prepared for a junior with such practiced use of their quirk. Even for a hero student I find this…highly unusual…"
Monika turned back towards the elevator, widening her eyes as the doors to the elevator had closed behind the group, the small panel that enabled one to operate it had beeped an error message, signifying in a blaring red glow that the elevator was no longer in use.
"For now there is no need to have any unwanted disturbances. If you turned back now, there's no telling what lies in those dark hallways." The voice of Diamondeye could be heard behind All Might's neck, making the hairs of his neck stand at the intrusive and disturbingly close distance the voice sounded.
All Might narrowed his eyes. 'Dammit! With the elevators locked then that means we're cut off from the other prison guards below us. Which means we're trapped.'
On Warlow's radio someone spoke into the comms. "*static* We are making our way downwards into floor 11, still no visual on the other prisoners. They must be- *static*"
The comms ended. The signal had been cut off. This left them with the company of the chilling silence and invasive aura that Diamondeye exuded. His eyes pierced deep into those who met his gaze.
"There would be no need for you to leave, that course of action would be ill advised for what comes next." The skeletal being stated, taking a glance at the other guards that were protective over the heroes and wounded under their protection.
Burnin whispered to All Might. "We need to get out of here, this creep is the only one in our path."
All Might sized up Diamondeye. 'Considering his background, we already know that he was a weapons dealer and information broker. And yet…he was only brought in 10 years ago by Mirai. If that's the case then that most likely means…'
"At times one must remain crafty in order to avoid unwanted incarceration. Specifically, over 739 attempts to apprehend me had been made in my lifetime…" Diamondeye informed before dropping the bisected arm in his left hand onto the ground.
PLOP
With a careless and bloodied drop, the abandoned limb collapsed against the ground, with its walkie still attached to the tightly clasping fingertips of the disposed limb.
"...only one had been successful in detaining me in irons. A shame. I had wanted to study Nighteye extensively before his untimely death. Such mysteries now closed off to me, save for the maggots who dine off his flesh as we speak. Such a waste of quality material." Diamondeye stated before glancing to the side, as if recalling from an unfortunate memory.
All Might furrowed his eyes angrily, the audacity of Diamondeye to mention and disrespect Nighteye as if he were some unfortunate experiment he missed out on made the ex hero's jaw clench. His hands which were currently helping Moe using his shoulder to stand tightened on reflex, enabling Burnin to feel the strength of his hands.
Burnin whispered. "Don't let him get to you…he's trying to goad you into making a mistake."
"The mistake was already made the moment you decided to step into the prison. You should have stayed away, All Might. Instead you allowed your pride to walk straight into the lion's den. You knew this, yet you wanted to see Harukaze defeated, so much so that you neglected the possibility of retaliation. It wasn't the first time you've exposed this vulnerability…you did do the same with All for One when you thought him to be dead, yet failed to finish your enemy completely. The worst kind of mistake to make is an egotistical one. They tend to be the most costly. And you…have made three…be sure to remember that…"
All Might raised an eyebrow. The confusion was visible on his face. "Three?"
Diamondeye echoed. "Three…Your first was your crusade with All for One…your obsession with his end had rendered you blind to the possibility of others that may linger…only now do you hold a piece…to a game that remains unfinished…a game that you enabled the moment you decided to enter this place at your own will…"
All Might felt perspiration run down his forehead with the growing nervousness that crawled through his being. All Might knew that there were villains of all types that were capable of unleashing destruction. However, to hear this made the ex hero think about Deku and what he would have to deal with even were he to defeat All for One.
The guards nervously looked around as Diamondeye's voice projected itself in many areas, from the left to the right, from up top and even below them. It was an omnipresent voice, one that made its presence known no matter what action you took to avoid it.
Diamondeye made eye contact with Moe, her pupils fidgeting, uncomfortably digesting his words.
"Your second mistake was embracing the idea that this oversized cage could hold our eyes and ears completely closed off to the world beyond these walls…a sad delusion many have fallen for throughout centuries…no man, politician or hero in this world can stop the inevitable turning of the wind and the wreaking havoc of an incorrigible force of nature…"
The gem-eyed felon then turned his gaze towards Monika, she narrowed her eyes with vigor, ready for any sudden movements.
"As for your third…I myself have yet to discover what that is…but we'll see soon enough…"
Burnin lidded her eyes. 'I'm gonna be honest I've never actually heard of this guy, then again there's been so many villains over the years, it's a fair bet that I just never really looked too far in the usual records to get a glimpse of this walking fossil. Still, he seems to be the type to incite others to a fight.'
"I know you...Moe Kamiji, Burnin, sidekick...No doubt you've been trained well under Endeavor. I wonder how he would feel, were he to see you as you are now, barely capable of standing? And relying on an old man to stand, makes for a pitiful sight." Diamondeye's voice echoed in her mind questioningly, the diamond optics he possessed looked through her without blinking. The literal crystalline gems shone on her, sending a chill in Burnin's spine. There's something about them that unnerved the sidekick.
The emerald haired heroine thought 'This guys a real piece of work, especially with those weird eyes of his.'
"They are my eyes. There's far worse things to fear than mere stones." Diamondeye said without a care, though the squadmates were growing confused. It would seem that Diamondeye was talking to them without vocal input on their end as normally as he would if they spoke aloud. The bony felon alternated between All Might, Burnin and Monika, practically waiting in place with a stiffness that matched a mannequin, lacking body language that would suggest his internal thoughts. A real poker face.
"He can…read minds…" Monika said in a hushed whisper. She had come to this conclusion since her first meeting with Diamondeye. He appeared to respond without one's verbal input. This made things trickier.
"If that were the case…your greatest concern should be if you are the one being read. Don't worry, it'll be your turn soon enough…" Diamondeye echoed, his voice projected next to her. By the look of the others, none of them heard this statement.
"Mind games. Nothing worse than the idea of being toyed with." One of the prison guards added.
Monika felt goosebumps envelop her skin, a response as to the growing tension that she picked up instinctually. The real reason behind such a reaction was simply because of the confirmation that Diamondeye appeared to be capable of knowing what one was thinking.
She felt mentally vulnerable, the strange sensation she felt from her first interaction with Diamondeye washed over her like a tsunami. It felt like eyes were everywhere, a prevalent sense of unease that emanated from her surroundings. Despite Diamondeye being right in front of the hall monitor, it was as if he was watching her from multiple directions, swarming her and those she intended to keep safe.
All Might gulped, his anxiety increasing that this particular villain appeared to be capable of reading minds. Whether or not that this was his quirk in its entirety was still an unknown factor.
A guard who had propped his riot shield upwards next to All Might spoke. "Diamondeye…a real mental case, I don't think any of us have seen him in action before, he was always more of a stand by and watch type."
All Might looked in thought. 'Sounds a lot like Harukaze before I met him all those years ago…these inmates seem to possess a lot of restraint being able to kill when the situation fits them. To do so would take its toll on most people.'
"Death is but a path we all must take…to bring about one's demise earlier than originally intended is merely the pathway to something greater than that of one singular existence…it's a choice, as easy as any other given enough…practice" Diamondeye informed them before taking another step forward, sizing the group in front of him.
"It is death that ironically, unifies us all. None of us are exempt from this fact, not I, and apparently, not you either, All Might." All Might gritted his teeth, feeling mocked about his apparent condition.
Diamondeye glanced at the limb he had dropped to the floor.
"These guards have gotten much more lax in their prowess over the years, no doubt a result of having many years of relative peace you have brought to Musutafu, a stark difference from the scourge of vigilantes some time ago. The same peace that has fizzled out like an afterthought."
All Might acknowledged what Diamondeye was referring to. It was only five years ago and yet it was a stark difference than now. A time when vigilantes were prominent and ran amok. During said time period another travesty had occurred, one which promoted an uprise of vigilantes as opposed to heroes. All for One was a major factor behind the destruction and a notable epidemic of the usage of a drug known as Trigger, which amplified one's quirk. Many villains had used it and incurred destruction on a massive scale, hence the growth of unlicensed heroes. The fact that All for One was heavily involved was another reminder of the danger that this sole figure represented.
"If I recall correctly that was about five years ago…around the time when you had presumably defeated All for One. I was already behind bars by then, but whispers and small puzzle pieces can tell an entire story even when denied first hand news reports." Diamondeye stated as he looked upwards towards the ceiling, notably staring at the sunset that gleamed through the glass.
Moe followed his gaze and noticed the sentry turrets which once defended the prison grounds sparked off electric discharges as if they had been destroyed from the inside. This would explain the success of the riot, the sentries themselves were the very first thing to go at the same time that Lycant began his rampage.
'Those sentries are fried, someone's messed with them real bad…which means we're on our own here…' Moe concluded.
"6. No…7pm…" He said offhandedly before looking back at Hall Monika.
Monika narrowed her eyes. She was not going to take this one by chance. It took All Might's old sidekick Night Eye to bring this guy down. If that's the case then that means that though old, this particular villain was much like Lycant and Narcissia, a dangerous force to be reckoned with.
"Out of the way Diamondeye and return to your cell." Hall Monika said with no small hint of hostility. She was fatigued from her last two fights but she wasn't above fighting another one.
"Return to a cell that is regrettably off its own hinges…there's no point in trying to hold me now. No point in maintaining the facade of order that is practically nonexistent. Look around you, this grand prison, hanging by a proverbial thread, one that becomes increasingly weaker with each of its sentinels slain. It's desecration is assured with each second Harukaze continues to live."
Moe narrowed her eyes. "As if! The guards have already cleared the first ten floors and are making their way down as we speak. This riot is over!'
"Silence is not the same as victory. After many years of seeing small skirmishes and warzones, it's something I've learned personally. It is often that silence is where the real opposition lies. It is in the shadows where the greatest threats wait and will continue to wait forever before a move is made. To have true victory is the absence of silence. Don't confuse the two…" Diamondeye stated cryptically.
"Stay out of our way, I won't ask you again. Go back to your cell." Hall Monika pressed her whistles to her lips, her icy blue eyes glowing under the shadow of her visor.
Diamondeye's optics bounced light off the surface of the gem textured retinas as he spoke.
"I heard a great deal over the intercoms, it would seem you have carried two fights already. I doubt even your lungs would be able to hold another."
Monika widened her eyes a tad. He was figuring out her quirks' function. She had not yet used it in front of the prisoners until now with the riot. Then again, he could read her mind well enough to know her thoughts on her own reserves. He was reading her.
"…I am more curious as to how you survived. That quirk of yours…the way you have used it..." The skull faced felon reverbed in her mind. His voice was clearly isolated to her the chambers of her cerebrum, as the others next to her had not heard him. This was a personalized and private message.
Monika gulped as sweat ran down her right temple.
"...you shouldn't be alive…" Diamondeye echoed in Monika's mind. A nervous expression appeared on her face.
"What do you want?" All Might butted in, considering that this villain would rather make small talk as opposed to combat, it made him nauseous as to what the purpose of this discussion was.
"I am here to offer you terms… you All Might, are to be left behind…and the rest of you are free to go…" The felon offered, causing Hall Monika to widen her eyes.
"Hell no! We're not giving you All Might." Moe argued, her fangs prominent in her delivery.
"There is no point in keeping him safe. As it stands, you cannot contain the inmates that now roam free. We will escape these halls, and kill whoever gets between us and the outside. As for All Might, there is no use in safeguarding a man whose entire value diminished the very moment his quirk died out. His use as a hero is already extinguished and by the look of him…he won't last long anyway." Diamondeye ominously pointed out.
All Might felt his own spine crawl. Those eyes saw more than just thoughts.
Moe narrowed her eyes. "What? What are you talking about? All Might?"
All Might avoided her eyes, his hair blocking his expression. He didn't want her to know, he didn't want any of them to know…
"Oh…he neglected to inform you…regardless, if you do not leave him behind, the end result will be your death. Lycant would have slaughtered you, even now he hunts for you. By the look of All Might's arm, there is no doubt he will catch up soon enough with the scent of his blood. As for Narcissia, she would have broken you. She doesn't see people, she can only see opportunities. Harukaze, well, considering your past history, I believe there is something…personal…he has in store for you..." Diamondeye stated, albeit in a fashion that could be taken as a mocking statement despite the emotionless delivery.
WHOO WHOO WHOO
Hollowed whistles echoed in nearby air vents. On loop, repeating over and over. Harukaze was sending a message.
"Shut the hell up!"
A large guard next to Monika picked up a nearby handful of debris and threw it towards Diamondeye, intending on shutting him up. As the rock made its way towards the felon, the fast moving improvised projectile shattered, as if made of glass.
SHATTER
Bits of stray glass that bounced the lighting of the room danced in midair, defying gravity before dimming into invisibility as if the large rock was never there to begin with.
"Whether by fate or by chance you have evaded your demise…but as it stands your time has run out…"
The air distorted around him, shifting and distorting his frame. Diamondeye stretched his left hand as another sound of shattered glass echoed through the halls. In the same hand he unveiled a large pistol.
Moe warned. "He's got a gun!"
BANG
Diamondeye had shot All Might's left leg, specifically on his kneecap. It was a shock to be sure, All Might for years had been adjusted to possessing enough strength to stave off most pain and wounds, a result of his many years of bearing One for All and the strength that accompanied it. However, now without his quirk to provide such benefits, the frail older man felt the bullet in its entirety as it pierced through his knee.
"AGH!" All Might let out as he fell to the ground, accidentally dropping Moe who relied on him to stand. All Might took deep breaths as he tried his damnedest to prevent himself from being caught up in the physical agony of a torn knee. His leg bled from the bullet that made its target.
Diamondeye immediately continued firing towards Moe, he was firing strategically, with the intention of taking down the more experienced heroes first before he dealt with the grunts of this improvised squad. His rate of fire was fast, however each shot was made with extreme accuracy, too well aimed for a walking corpse to possess, and remained unflinching to the recoil with each bullet.
BANG
BANG
BANG
Monika immediately blew her number 1 whistle, causing the bullets to literally be bounced back by the incoming sonic blast, two of which scraped Diamondeye's bones. The stray rounds ricocheted off of his person. It would seem that his exterior bones were extremely tough, considering that the bullets did not do any visible damage.
Hall Monika then used the same whistle on the ground itself, uprooting it in a widespread area to allow large bits of the structure to serve as an improvised cover. Large sections of rock and metal spread throughout the first floor, where the guards and heroes hid from the armed inmate.
"Interesting…perhaps something with more kick…"
The air distorted around Diamondeye again, where the same hand which held a pistol flicked the weapon out of existence, reaching for the stray bits of metal and rock that littered the ground. He clasped the material tightly and flicked the left wrist, where out of thin air the skeletal prisoner unveiled a combat shotgun. With a wave of the shotgun, the weapon made the sound as if it was loaded.
CHUCK CHLICK
With his left hand he aimed and fired.
BOOSH
BOOSH
The shells loudly bounced audibly on the walls, as the buckshot made their way towards Monika, still exposed despite her attempt to shift the battlefield in their favor. With another shot of her whistle, they were deflected back, however they ricocheted and scraped one of the nearby guards by his left leg. It tore a piece of his limb clean off. Such was the danger of shotgun shells, when fired they spread outward, and possessed enough kick to resist the sonic shockwave made by Monika. This defensive tactic was a double edged sword at the moment due to the fact that she was currently too close to friendlies.
"Fuck!" The guard screamed as he bled from the shotgun buckshot scraped through the side of his left leg. Had it landed a few more centimeters to the center, it would have taken the whole leg off.
Monika immediately grabbed the guard and moved behind debris to get away from the incoming volley. Meanwhile Moe picked up All Might and pressed him against a big slab of metal which would serve as cover. The other guards, lacking long range weapons, spread out and hid behind the debris Monika uprooted. All Might hissed as the wound on his knee was still vividly prevalent in his mind.
Moe whispered. "Stay here! If you keep moving around its only going to get…worse…"
Moe looked at the wound, or more specifically, how the blood had stopped flowing. Upon looking at the bullet, she noticed that it had literally bent upon impact with All Might's knee. It had penetrated skin no doubt but nowhere near tore through flesh as it should have. If that weren't enough the impact of the wound appeared to be slowly reforming through small purple stitchings. It was slow and yet effective in the removal of the bullet as well as the pausing of the immediate bleeding.
Moe looked at All Might. "Hey, I thought-"
All Might shook his head in the negative. "No, it's not me."
All Might slipped from his pocket a purple sphere. It was Mamira's sphere he had accidentally took with him. Notably, the oversized boosting quirk had a small chew mark.
All Might grinned. He mumbled to himself. "I took it when we were being chased by Lycant. I need to thank a special someone later."
He looked at Moe and turned the sphere towards her. "Take a bite."
Moe blinked confusedly, not sure what was going to happen with the use of said sphere.
During the battle, another guard nimbly went cover to cover in an attempt to strike Diamondeye with a riot shield tackle, attempting a flanking maneuver. Upon impact, the skeletal felon merely stood in place, the high velocity shield tackle did not make the impact that it should have. Considering the guards' size was larger than Diamondeye's seemingly frail one, this should not have been the result.
Diamondeye simply stared at the guard. As he did so the bones of his neck crackled and crunched in a disturbing fashion as he made his eyes stare into the guards' soul.
Diamondeye placed his left bony hand on the shield.
SHATTER
With the sound of shattered glass, the riot shield was shattered out of existence. The forced impact of the strange method of vaporizing the riot shield launched the guard as if he shoved back by an explosion. The guard rolled a bit into a nearby debris column before rising again, though his uniform was shredded by the glassy residue. Sharp shrapnels had lodged themselves into his uniform.
The guard smacked them off confusedly, as the residue appeared out of nowhere.
"Do not engage in close range!" The guard called out to his squadmates, as he hid for cover.
Diamondeye immediately found the guard behind the debris column, pointed the shotgun at him and reached for the trigger.
PWEEEEEE
Monika used her number two whistle which launched a sickle shaped sound gust that sliced the combat shotgun in half, spreading stray bits of the barrel against the ground, rendering it useless for firing. The guard immediately kicked him and retreated. He did not want to run the risk of being shattered into glass at close range. That, and he didn't want to get in the way of Monika's whistle.
Burnin, who leaned on another debris for support, launched a large green fireball towards Diamondeye who was encased in the flames. Moe gulped as she didn't want to kill the felon but considering that he was armed and extremely dangerous, she acted out of self preservation.
'That purple sphere really boosted my output. I'm able to stand too! Regardless, all that matters is that it's over, that bastard can no longer-'
"Silence is not the same as victory."
Moe immediately stepped back upon hearing the voice of Diamondeye. His eyes glowed past the green flames, hauntingly staring into Burnin.
"Lukewarm flames at best…I have engineered flamethrowers far more efficient in churning the surfaces of the hardest metals in the world, from steel to tungsten, even those designed by the Shield family. Your flames are hardly a candle compared to those I've personally fabricated."
SHATTER
Moe was pulled back by All Might as a sharp weapon reached for her past the flames. It was thin and no doubt a close ranged weapon.
Diamondeye stepped out of the wellspring of emerald flame. Noticeably the inferno that had engulfed him was missing, leaving only a hollowed center with a ring of green flame leftover from what Burnin assumed would have finished him off.
In his left hand, Diamondeye held a rapier, a thin blade that was meant and designed for counter based fighting and piercing thrusts that would carve through flesh cleanly. It was intricate, well crafted and shined through the darkness.
Though the lights constantly flickered on and off as a result of the ensuing battle, the rapier itself visibly held a bit of blood on the end. All Might checked Moe to see if she was cut, noticing no scars on her body. He then looked at the disembodied limb of the unknown prison guard from earlier.
'I see…he used the rapier in order to slice off the guards arm…and then with his ability to break apart weapons…he must have done the same to the guards' body…' All Might deduced.
"Break apart…interesting…I commend your attempt at deduction…" Diamondeye stated before raising his rapier for another swing.
Monika came out from some debris she used for cover and blew her third whistle to disorient Diamondeye. Upon its use, the weapon in Diamondeye's arm shattered, deconstructed into nonexistence. He however remained upright and simply looked at her.
"Don't blink…" Diamondeye stated. As he gazed upon Monika, his eyes glowed, in front of her within a split second was a flashbang.
BANG
FLASH
Monika's irises took on a large flash on her eyes, she covered them to no avail as her eyes had been blinded by the sheer intensity of the light that Diamondeye conjured out of thin air.
Monika's eyes watered in irritation as she clenched her eyes tightly.
BASH
She felt a heavy weight crash right into her gut, causing her to roll against the ground from the cannonball-like impact of the foreign object that struck her.
Monika opened her eyes to notice a disembodied head was the object. The usual armored helmet of the Hydra Prison guard uniform was placed on the face, although currently a red hue of blood tainted the face of the previous victim.
It was the head belonging to the unnamed guard Diamondeye killed earlier. Though originally missing it would seem Diamondeye had conjured it into midair just as he would his own weapons.
Out of instinctive disgust and repulsion to such brutality, Monika smacked it off of her as she registered what Diamondeye used as an improvised weapon.
"The art of combat is to use everything to your advantage…I find heads to be a rather versatile utility..." Diamondeye said, his voice sending goosebumps into Monika as she stood up, although her hands shook a tad. A normal reaction to seeing a loose weaponized head without an owner, even for a hero. Her uniform still had the blood of the head on her stomach. The audacity of Diamondeye to use a previous victim's head as a weapon, made Monika's insides churn with revulsion and bewilderment.
Before Diamondeye could reach her while she was psychologically vulnerable, two guards tazed the half dead walker with their shock batons. An electrifying discharge sizzled against his skin. This caused Diamondeye to arch his spine. He didn't make any vocal sound of agony or pain.
Another guard from the front began bashing against the skull of Diamondeye with a normal baton. The weapon thwacked harshly against his face several times. The sounds of cracks could be heard as the batons made contact with the skull headed murderers' cranium.
SHATTER
The batons themselves were shattered into non-existence. Stray bits of glass like residue pierced the armor of the guards. They had to back away from the hard hitting impact of the shrapnel of the unknown quirk.
"Batons, military grade aluminum alloy. Primitive…though not without its uses." Diamondeye said aloud, appearing undeterred by the harsh bludgeoning he had been subjected to.
All Might observed the glass stuck against the uniforms of the guards. He noticed that the glass was not in fact glass, it appeared to look like literal bits of broken diamond, practically shards of gemstone that pierced their torsos.
Diamondeye immediately flicked his left hand again, this time whipping out into existence a grenade and tossing it with an underhanded throw, ensuring that it made its way to the prison guards.
"Shit! Grenade!" One of the guards called out before they immediately ran and threw themselves behind cover before the explosion came. The debris and shrapnel had left one guard unconscious as he was heavily wounded by the force of the explosion despite being hidden from the immediate fatal burst.
"*Sigh* Quirk inhibitors…they really negate one's true capacity, leaving me with too many limitations to what I'm used to…" Diamondeye said offhandedly before scooping up more debris and metal from the ground, shattering them into nonexistence.
Moe immediately shot a hard blast of flame that immediately dissipated before even touching Diamondeye as he stared at her as if observing her form.
Diamondeye stood impassive as another guard swung from behind Diamondeye who took the blow. Upon impact Diamondeye appeared to shatter into bits, making the guard confused as Diamondeye literally broke apart.
The air around the site distorted as the pieces of glass reintegrated themselves a foot away from where the guard originally intended to strike.
"I'm over here…" Diamondeye let out before swinging his left hand with the same rapier from earlier which sliced across the guards chest. The guard with advanced combat training had been trained enough to back away on reflex, however he still was sliced across the torso by the tip of the far reaching blade, leaving a bloodied gash that tore through the uniform. It was far sharper than a normal rapier, as it tore through his armor as if it were tinfoil. His armor served as little resistance.
"That blade...it's sharp…" The carved guard whispered as he placed his left hand against his chest noticing the dribbling of his own blood.
"The sharpest..." Diamondeye stated before flicking his left hand with the rapier, which now took on the form of a pistol again as he pointed towards the guard.
Hall Monika moved fast, taking both her black whistle and her number two blade whistle. With a cry she bellowed.
"Fatal Judgement: Guillotine!"
She combined the two and blew on the combined support item.
SHING
CRACKLE
CRUNCH
Monika, who had her black whistle on hand, had used it in addition to her number two whistle. They were connected into one longer whistle, with the black one being directly connected to her lips. The usually blade shaped number two whistle became a blue energized extended sickle shaped blast that carved deeply into the bones of Diamondeye. It didn't slice all the way through but it did stop him in his tracks. Diamondeye's gem carved optics glowed as he registered the deadly blow.
"I now understand…your need for whistles..." Diamondeye let out as his back bones were sliced.
Stray bits of diamond shrapnels emanated from the area where the whistle had torn apart his vulnerable back bones. The once carved cartilage began reforming with the movement of diamond shrapnels. As they went, they made a sound, like the formation and crystallization of ice.
Monika's eyes appeared fatigued. The underside of her eyes appeared dark as if she lacked sleep. She had been using her quirk constantly, however her specialized combination of her whistles had drained her far more than her usual attacks.
"Your quirk…it's a wonder you still stand…" Diamondeye's voice echoed inside her mind.
Hall Monika widened her eyes and immediately refocused on the fight.
"Your control over your quirk is admirable, though I wondered why you would need a whistle to use your own voice…you can't control it…"
Hall Monika hesitated.
"No…you are afraid of it…" Diamondeye peeked at her, though clearly he still spoke inside of her mind.
Hall Monika's pupils shook. He was digging inside of her mind. She had to think of something else, anything else!
"...A small…child…I see…your feelings spike in regards to this silhouette in your mind…"
Diamondeye's jaw widened. An unusual expression on the skull man's face.
"Spheres…" Diamondeye's voice hammered on her mind as he analyzed her. Hall Monika immediately used her black whistle with her number one whistle. She breathed a big gulp before unveiling her attack.
"Fatal Judgement: Gavel!"
The usual sonic impact of the number one whistle came out as a large high velocity blue tinted tidal wave of energy as a result of the addition of the black whistle. It careened through the ground leaving devastation at its wake. The ground melted off, leaving a long trail of uprooted ground, causing massive sorts of electrical wiring to shoot out as well as debris to be flung across the room with the incoming blast.
Diamondeye immediately stepped away from the vicinity. He was surprisingly agile enough to swiftly tilt his body away from the large blast that vaporized everything it touched, leaving the ground indented from being melted into ash. The railings that usually prevented occupants from falling had also disintegrated into nothingness, leaving a wide spherical gap in its place.
Even from across the room the blast continued to fly.
Hall Monika coughed out harshly, as her usage of her combination whistle took its toll on her voice box. She felt empty as the reserves in her body were drastically reduced with each of her Fatal Judgements.
Strange enough, the moment she released the whistle was the moment her Fatal Judgement fizzled into nothingness.
Diamondeye stood upright again, where Monika bore witness to his left arm being completely missing, leaving a charred stump. Her blast had engulfed his left arm and disintegrated it into oblivion.
"WhAt aRe YoU?" Diamondeye asked, his speech was ominously garbled, a demanding tone in his delivery. He extended his remaining right arm, both eyes glowed.
Monika felt her mind being weighed down by something, she couldn't describe it. What she did know was that her mind felt like it was tearing itself apart. All she could register was white noise in her eardrums as her surroundings were muffled. Her sclera began tinting red as if her eyes were heavily irritated, about to burst from their sockets. She closed her eyes but the sound of white noise grew louder in her ears. Her spine arched as an unknown presence gripped her in place. A silent scream came out her lips as she was painfully ensnared by Diamondeye's mind.
"UnNatUraL…AbOmInATion…" Diamondeye's cold voice echoed, as if his voice was everywhere at once.
As she opened her eyes, Monika found herself in an empty chasm.
"Whatareyouwhatreyouwhatareyouwhatareyouwhatareyouwhatareyouwhatareyouwhatareyouwhatareyou-" The many voices in this chasm echoed to her, making the hall monitor hyperventilate, it was hard to breathe in this painful trance. Within the darkness of this mental chasm she noticed a large skull and two diamond eyes slowly making its way towards her. Diamondeye was diggin deeper into her mind. She tried to hold on but the white noise increased, making her ears literally bleed.
"YoU cANnoT hIdE fRoM mE…"
Pain filled her body. She wanted to scream, but stopped herself, she couldn't, she shouldn't.
"ShoW mE yOuR QuIrK…" The voice of Diamondeye spoke.
Hall Monika gritted her teeth. She still resisted.
"OrPhAn…" Diamondeye's voice invaded her mind.
At the saying of that word, Monika let out her frustrations, in the form of a scream, only without the help of her whistle.
SHATTER
Outside the mind chasm, Moe saw how Diamondeye collapsed onto his knees, his bones literally cracked. The skull faced inmate was out of breath, letting out hollowed moans as he was severely weakened. All Might and Moe weren't sure what happened, one second he appeared to hold Monika in place, the next he was falling apart, Monika was vulnerable, staggering to stand.
"So close… *gasps* …inhibitors…" Diamondeye gasped out. His eyes appeared faded, lacking the usual glare they normally possessed.
All Might out of desperation, took a bigger bite of Mamira's sphere and swallowed it. If it was indeed a boost based quirk then he would need it for what he intended to do. Using his arms All Might grabbed Diamondeye from behind and scooped him up. With the momentum of this surge of energy that filled his being, the ex hero smashed Diamondeye deep into the ground, further fracturing his rustic and dirtied outer exoskeleton.
BOOM
CRACKLE
Small bits of debris launched freely from the impact where Diamondeye landed. He began rising upwards, the felon refusing to stay down despite his clear injuries.
"You fight a needless battle All Might…your fate has already been reduced to nothing…"
BASH
All Might swung with a large right hook. Strange enough he felt strong, his blows coming out as frighteningly powerful thrusts he normally couldn't perform due to his physical condition. Mamira's sphere gave him strength he thought was completely denied to him, if only for but a moment. It was nowhere near his strength as the number one hero, but it was enough to make this walking dead kneel.
With a large left hook to Diamondeye's right temple All Might let out as he dished out blow after blow.
"I don't care if I won't live long, so long as I draw breath-!"
The ex hero began laying body blows into his ribcage. Each punch he dished out came out with rampant fury and high velocity of practiced delivery.
"So long as we have courage!" Moe let out as she fried the vulnerable Diamondeye, forcing him to focus on dissipating the fatal flames. His eyes dimmed as his quirk was overused due to the inhibitors tiring him extensively from this drawn out fight.
Despite bleeding from her ears, and weakened by the mental invasion by Diamondeye, Monika grabbed her hat, and staggered towards Diamondeye. She swatted Diamondeye with the loud gongs of her hat making contact against his body, causing it to sporadically shift with the intensity of the interns' passionate blows.
"So long as we have…hope…" Monika said with conviction, albeit fatigued.
The other battle weary guards swarmed. In unision they delivered heavy blows against Diamondeye whose focus on the heroes served as a good enough distraction from him using his quirk to nullify their attacks. He was overwhelmed. His quirk had drained him immensely.
All Might then grabbed Diamondeye, gem eyes connected with the glowing azure eyes of the hero who struck fear into evil. Despite his age, his frailty and his bloodied knuckles, he still possessed a hero's will.
"We will stop you, when I'm gone there will be another to take my place! Until that day let me remind you! I-"
WHAM
All Might delivered a left haymaker that caused Diamondeye to limply swerve to the right.
"am still-" All Might bellowed as the energy of Mamira's sphere made his swings come out in a noticeably indigo tinted arc.
WHAM
"-here!" All Might screamed out as with a right thrust of his arm the hero poured his reserves into Diamondeye, penetrating into his muscular underbelly beneath the bone like exterior. This made Diamondeye lean forward from the powerful impassioned strike.
WHAM
Diamondeye raised his remaining right hand against All Might's left temple. A strange hum was registered in All Might's eardrums. All Might found himself flashing through several memories, one of Deku smiling at him, one of Nana Shimura extending her hair towards him when he was to become the next One for All wielder, and one of his deceased friend and former sidekick, Nighteye, during his final farewell.
All Might's eyes glowed as he bellowed out his traditional battlecry with one final haymaker.
"SMASH!" All Might used a second large haymaker, one with a lot more kick than intended. This caused Diamondeye to be launched midair, breaking through the rails that kept occupants from falling.
CREAK
Diamondeye fell deep into the darkness from floor 1 to the bottom. Diamondeye remained impassive as he fell. Out of eyesight he flicked his wrist and conjured the walkie that was connected to the disembodied hand from earlier. This was obscured from the heroes as he had fallen into darkness and visibility was impossible from such a fall.
"…I have it…" Diamondeye whispered weakly as his body fell into the depths.
All Might could only gaze for a few seconds before Warlow's walkie radioed in.
"This is floor 20! We have an emergency!" The walkie radioed in.
Monika picked up the radio. She gasped
"What's…going on?" Monika used the walkie, her voice was weak, strained from overuse.
"The vents *static* he escaped with the goddamn*static*"
Monika's eyes widened.
"Floor 18! What the hell is going on! There's no prisoners here, they can't just have disappeared!"
"Warlow! Something's up with the cameras, they're fried from the inside out…we have no visual of your sector…"
"Floor 19 is clear. But it's really dark in here…I can't see anything! Our flashlights are useless…"
All Might's eyes widened. This was all too familiar to the slaughter downtown. Despite being on quirk inhibitors, Harukaze was using a similar method to escape his confinement. With this in mind, All Might, with all the details thus far, as well as from what information he had gathered since the beginning of the inspection, began to put it all together.
-Flashback: Chapter 4-
Nezu looked solemn for a second. "It's not this particular prisoner I am worried about, it's the rumors at the prison that I am concerned about. There have been rumors as of late of a possible riot amongst the other prisoners looking for potential escape. There has been word that the whole point of the escape was to raid Tartarus."
-Flashback: Chapter 29-
All Might raised an eyebrow. "You guys have no clearance?"
Another officer spoke from the radio. His voice answered in a deep baritone.
"Floor 1 here. During operations the doors remain locked until someone from the outside opens it. Once you are inside, the doors cannot be opened by any officer. Only Warlow can exit from inside, via key card and eye scan. It's a safety measure to keep prisoners from attempting escape. If you wanted to escape you would need his key card and Warlow himself…."
-Flashback: Chapter 26-
All Might eyed the layout of the watchtowers that stood tall beyond the walls of this enclosed fortification.
'They have watchtowers…and yet Harukaze was able to avoid detection despite the range the defenses provide?'
-Flashback End-
All Might's pupils fidgeted. "He couldn't escape from the surface. It's impossible, there's just too many security measures for him to ignore. Even for a bank robber, he would have slipped up somewhere."
Moe blinked. She recalled details from earlier.
"There…there is one way…underground below floor 20." Moe mentioned as she herself began to think back.
-Flashback: Chapter 26-
One guard was whispering to another as they passed by.
"Should've locked that freak below."
Moe's eyes widened a tad. 'Below? I thought this was the bottom floor?'
-Flashback End-
Monika widened her eyes. "Wait, below floor 20?"
A resounding cough was heard near her. Upon looking at the source of said cough, she noticed that it was Warlow. After a long time recovering from the strain he endured by Narcissia's possession, the warden himself was finally conscious, albeit struggling. He leaned against a column of rock he was placed on during the fight.
"She's talking about an old emergency tunnel that connects down to the bay…far beyond the mountain ranges that surrounds the prison…it used to be a part of the layout before it was closed off five years ago due to maintenance. We couldn't get it fixed in time, we were stretched too thin with the surge of vigilantes and the literal war on our streets. In fact the original warden before me had died during all that mess."
All Might listened, internally his mind was piecing these details like a puzzle, it made sense so far.
All Might asked with a strict expression, his teeth clenched at the secrecy. "Why didn't you tell us about the tunnel system?"
Warlow continued, staggering himself upright, his legs wobbly due to the amount of strain on his previously possessed body.
"We were told to make no mention of it, straight from the higher ups because of All for One's connection with Harukaze, in case anyone decided to use the tunnel as a weak spot. Couldn't let anyone in on it, you included. Had it not been for All for One's reappearance, we would have been able to put security measures there in time, unfortunately…that wasn't the case. All we had accomplished was bolting up the entrances that are located here and at the medical wing. The rest is all abandoned by now."
-Flashback: Chapter 26-
On closeup inspection one would notice black strays of wispy smoke emanating from the guns of the guards. All the wispy trails of smog connected to an air vent the size of a fist, one among hundreds providing air circulation to the prison.
Monika, Moe and All Might stared in growing bewilderment and shock.
'Harukaze...is able to control his quirk from that distance!?'
-Flashback End-
Monika gulped. "Using the air vent system…"
All Might took a look at a small air vent nearby. The whistles that echoed from Harukaze's holding cell were deathly silent as opposed to before.
All Might finished Monika's train of thought. "He couldn't use the entrance to the tunnels, but he could use the ventilation system connected to it…"
-Flashback: Chapter 29-
As he thought about it, he also dreaded the answer to the internal questions that circulated his mind. If this is true, that only Warlow or an outside guard were the only ones who could open the entrance inside the prison building itself, then that meant that there was a possibility that Harukaze had help…
From outside the prison.
-Flashback End-
All Might mumbled. "But he needed help…if he wanted to escape, he needed to hold his breath for him to turn to smoke…like he did downtown… Only problem is, he was doused with quirk inhibitors, he would exert himself too much before he could make it…and being blind meant he needed to know its layout."
-Flashback: Chapter 23-
Monika added to the conversation. Her authoritative voice back in place. "He worked with his older brother, Shiro Harukaze. Together, they had cleaned out 67 sites, spread between the western and the eastern seaboard. For years they were invaluable to All for One, and were causing gradual economic decline as their heists grew bigger throughout the years. They went from stores, to banks, to a federal reserve before they were finally caught. They were dangerous not in the literal sense but in the structural sense."
-Flashback End-
Moe widened her eyes. "He needed a partner…someone he could trust.."
All Might thought back to what Nezu informed him earlier.
-Flashback: Chapter 17-
"...I did have a word with Ayumu. So far, no real motivation could be deciphered from Harukaze's actions. Harukaze was readying for a large-scale fight, considering he went so far as to plant many bombs in a wide reaching radius…To top it off he cut off communication as well in an even wider range. It's as if he was expecting an assault from all sides..."
"…Harukaze knew he couldn't escape. It was more like he was buying time, prolonging the inevitable. Based on all of the facts thus far I believe...that perhaps this was his way of testing himself." The principal concluded.
"...We cannot risk Harukaze having any contact with All for One or any other possible subordinates at Tartarus…"
-Flashback End-
All Might narrowed his eyes. With a stunned expression on his face he whispered.
"Harukaze has been here for 17 years, and in that time studied the inside layout of the prison, the systems and defenses. He needed someone to study the outside layout, and do the same…he knew a contact was nearby…a messenger who sought him out and had the capability to study his heist tactics…"
-Flashback: Chapter 10-
The radio static cleared up. "Harukaze hasn't used his quirk in 17 years…because his quirk amplifies with every breath he takes in!"
-Flashback End-
All Might continued his train of thought. His eyebrows furrowed.
"In order to meet his messenger, he had to escape the prison. He took time to build and master his quirk, growing a tolerance to the inhibitors as he kept breathing and amplifying his strength in the process, something none of us knew."
Warlow looked on in bewilderment. "Shit…"
All Might continued.
"...he grew his quirk…to carry himself first and find his route…so he could then carry others…17 years worth of strength…all throughout the vents to make this possible…"
All Might's eyes were lost in thought. His hand touched his chest in a gentle manner.
"To carry out this plan required a lot of coordination and practice…He's done it many times for all his heists, one partner on the inside, and one on the outside. His partner was out there when he escaped beyond the mountains…they already made contact downtown…"
Moe and Monika's eyes widened in horror.
All Might appeared somber, as his mind ran circles at the conclusion that became terribly clear to the blonde. "We didn't save anyone in the slaughter…all we did was let his partner right through…all the way to All for One…Ayumu Endo…"
The walkie relayed a message. "Floor 18, there's something rising up from the ground, it looks big!"
All Might coughed. He noticed he had a dribble of blood seep down his lips.
"And downtown he carried out a test…to replicate something he discovered…17 years ago…something he was working on…through fighting and dominating all the inmates here. He gained the loyalty of the inmates…but to make an army for All for One…these inmates needed to fight for him out of respect or…"
-Flashback: Chapter 26-
"…quirk destabilization. If one can awaken their quirk, one can also be subject to losing control of it. It's a disorder that's quite rare, but I've noticed seeing it more and more in these halls. I've requested aid from the Musutafu Medical League to send some specialists to learn more." Warlow said in a business as usual manner, whilst the three shaken heroes were stunned.
-Flashback End-
All Might's eyes appeared to light with epiphany. His blue eyes were wide in horror.
"Fear…"
The walkie radioed in, loudly contrasting with the stunned silence of All Might's discovery.
"*static* Oh my god! He's heading up, past floor 8!"
All Might coughed harshly as his lungs acted up again. He looked at the blood on his hands. "He wasn't sure just how effective his quirk was…until I came to his cell…"
All Might closed his eyes in recollection. "I thought when I first met him that he couldn't defeat me…"
-Flashback: Chapter 30-
"Now I understand…he succeeded where others could not…to kill a breathing god…and bring about his own mortality with the deprivation of his own strength. The same strength that gave him his own name. A name that carries less weight day by day…"
-Flashback: End-
The walkie echoed again.
"Floor 1, this is floor 2, get down!"
All Might looked downwards. "That was my third mistake...I thought Harukaze was only a bank robber...I was wrong…"
All was silent. All noise was gone, leaving only the empty hull of the steel walls of Hydra Prison.
Before the heroes could respond, a black, chitin coated taloned hand clawed All Might by his torso in an upward arc. A large spray of red blood gushed outward from All Might's frail form, spewing against his face from the velocity of the slash.
In front of the legendary hero All Might was the now freed yet muzzled monstrosity that was Harukaze. His pure black eyes stared deeply into All Might's as the black smoke from the nearby air vents forced its way out, settling against Harukaze's exposed stump where his hand used to be. A stump that was shaped with the smoke into an oversized nightmarish set of extended black claws, hardened through Harukaze's control of his quirk. Though he couldn't breath his smoke as a result of his mask, there was 17 years worth of his quirk, all spread throughout the vents, serving as a reservoir for him to make up for his strength where his breathing could not. A coldness filled All Might's being as he gazed eye to eye with the lone bank robber, who in actuality was a relentless evil that never slept, an evil that waited to strike when victory was thought to be guaranteed. A silent killer.
Monika had watery eyes as she screamed out helplessly. The speed was something she hadn't expected.
"All Might!" The crying hall monitor called out as the wind blew away her hat, sending it into the dark emptied chasm. Her voice carried itself throughout the entirety of the twenty floors of this tattered abyss.
The radio garbled out, sporadically suffering interference with the rush of black gusts that burst through the vents.
"HARUKAZE HAS ESCAPED!"
CHAPTER END
A/n: Hey guys sorry about the delay, real life and all that. Being that it's been a while I extended the length to about 2 chapters worth in one special package. First chapter for this story of the new year, so I hope that this has been worth the wait and that this was quite the plot rattling and viciously entertaining surprise that I hope it was. Until next time readers.
