Chp. 20: Beginning of Training

A couple days had passed and today Teams RWBY, JNPR, GRMA, CFDT, CFVY, OBSA, CRDL, HRRB, JAAR, SSSN, FNKI, ABRN, NDGO, BRNZ, and GUVV were gathered out into a grassy lawn and were all standing in rows of eight. They were all wearing the same uniform consisting of a camouflage pattern green tunic, a matching heavy duty jacket, matching pants, and patrol hat. They also wore sand colored undershirts and matching boots. On the top of the right upper sleeve of the jackets was a patch of the U.H.L. emblem and beneath it was a patch of the flag of which nation each student came from. All of the girls with long hair had their hair tied into a bun behind their heads.
Walking up in front of the students was Sergeant Alex Barker and two other drill instructors. He looked at the students in front of him for a few moments before he then spoke.
"I am Sergeant Barker, and I will be your senior drill instructor throughout your stay here. This platoon you all are in will be known as the Titan Squad. From now on, you cadets will speak only when spoken to. And the first and last words that you will speak are 'sir' and only 'sir.' Do you maggots understand?"
"Sir, yes sir," the students answered.
"I can't hear you! Sound off like you've got a pair!" Alex said.
"Sir, yes sir!" the students shouted.
Alex and the two other drill instructors began to pace around the students, and examine them. Alex then began to speak again.
"Now you cadets have signed up to train to become Huntsmen and Huntresses! Here you've signed up to protect humanity all over the globe! Until that day comes, you all are nothing but worthless, pathetic excuses of human beings! Because I am hard, you will not like me! But the more you hate me, the more you will learn! I am hard, but I am fair! Everyone is to treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of race, gender, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, and all other protected categories! Here you are all equally worthless! Is that clear?!"
"Sir, yes sir!" the students answered.
"Sexual assault is unwanted physical contact in a sexual nature, so if you put your hands on another individual and you're not instructed to and you're not saving their life, and they file a sexual assault charge, and it comes down that you put your hands on this individual when you weren't suppose to, that is gonna be on you! You will get kick out of the U.H.L., your career as a Huntsman or Huntress will be over before it will begin, and then you will probably have to file as a registered sex offender!" Alex explained. "Do you understand?!"
"Sir, yes sir!" the students answered.
"And by the time I'm done with you, you will no longer be pathetic excuses! You will be cold, ruthless, weapons of destruction! Is that clear?!" Alex asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" the students answered.
Alex turns his head to face Neon Katt.
"What's your name?!" he asked.
"Sir, Neon Katt sir!" she answered.
"Well Katt, you look like the kind of girl who would use her body to become a hooker! Are you a hooker?!" Alex asked.
"Sir, no sir!" Neon answered.
"Well, I sure hope not, because girls like you will get eaten alive!" Alex barked.
"That's one use they're good for," Cardin muttered with a smirk.
Alex heard the low voice that spoke. He marched over to follow the voice with an angered expression.
"Who said that? WHO THE HELL SAID THAT?! Who's the little comedy worthless maggot that just signed his own death warrant?!" Alex yelled, as nobody dared to speak. "Nobody, huh? Was it really my imagination?! I will PT you all until you all lose complete functionality! I will PT you all until you all drop dead!"
Alex turns his head to face Cardin.
"Was it you, horseface?!" he asked.
"What if it was?" Cardin asked mockingly.
"Holy freaking Jesus! It looks like we've got ourselves a comedian!" Alex shouted.
The two drill instructors ran over to Cardin and proceeded to yell into his ears alongside Alex.
"Drop on your face and give me twenty!" Alex yelled.
"Move! Move! Move!" the first drill instructor yelled.
"Twenty! Now, numb nuts!" the other drill instructor yelled.
Forced to comply by the drill instructors, Cardin dropped to the ground and started to do push ups. Alex watched Cardin do his push ups while the two drill instructors knelt down, continuing to yell in Cardin's ears.
"You little scumbag! I have your number, Winchester! You had best unscrew yourself, or I will make it that you will not survive this program! Is that clear?!" Alex asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" Cardin answered, while still doing his push ups.
Alex walks up to Nolan Porfirio and faces him.
"What's your excuse?!" he asked.
"Sir, excuse for what, sir?!" Nolan asked.
"I'm asking the questions here, not you! Do you understand?!" Alex asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" Nolan answered.
"Well thank you very much! Can I be in charge for a while?!" Alex asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" Nolan answered.
"Are you shook up?! Are you nervous?!" Alex asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" Nolan answered.
"Do I make you nervous?!" Alex asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" Nolan answered.
"Well you should be! Because this program will be nothing but hell from here on out. Do you understand?" Alex asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" Nolan answered.
Alex began to pace around the students again.
"I will not be your friend throughout the entirety of this program! Starting now, your training will begin!" he said.
Obstacle Course
Later out at an obstacle course, the teams were running the course. Jaune, Jesse, and Ronin were climbing up a wooden wall as Watson, Jacket, Reese Chloris, and Octavia Ember followed behind them. Weiss, Yang, Brawnz Ni, and Dove Bronzewing were crawling under barbed wire through some watery mud. Azumi, Britney, Ronin, and Hera were climbing across a long set of monkey bars.
"Their will be times where you will get into situations when your aura is depleted! And when your aura is depleted, you cannot use your semblance! You must run this course without the use of your semblance! It is all necessary!" Alex explained.
Swimming Pool
Later at a swimming pool, the students were put into eight lines in front of the pool. Alex blows a whistle, and Robert, Rin, Genji, Jason, May Zedong, Dew Gayl, Arslan Altan, and Flynt Coal dive into the pool and begin to swim across it.
A moment later, Alex blows the whistle again, and Kelly, Ruby, Coco, Kobalt, Bolin Hori, Roy Stallion, and Gwen Darcy all dived into the pool and started to swim across. Alex noticed a stiffened up Neptune standing in front of the pool, looking down at the water with his eyes dilated and letting out a slight whimper. Alex angrily marches over to the terrified Neptune.
"Vasilias! What the hell are you doing?! Why are you not in the water right now?!" Alex barked.
Neptune did not give an answer as he was looking down at the water with terrified eyes.
"Can you not swim?! If so, why the hell not?! Everyone here can! So why not you?!" Alex asked.
Behind him, Nebula Violette suddenly pushed Neptune into the water. Alex turns his head to face NDGO's team leader.
"VIOLETTE! WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION?!" he yelled.
Alex then hears something coming from the pool behind him. He turns around to face down at the pool and sees Neptune scramble out of the pool and he has brought some of the water with him. Neptune was caught in a bubble of water, which was growing by the second. Everyone watched as Neptune was unintentionally activating his semblance, Water Attraction.
Neptune couldn't see because it was stuck in his eyes, he couldn't hear because it was getting in his ears, and he couldn't scream because he couldn't breathe. In a panicked move, he sent the water away from him, so it gathered around the closest thing nearby: Nebula. She suddenly found herself enclosed in water that seemed stuck to her skin. Neptune was on his hands and knees breathing for air. In a quick move, Ricky ran up and kicks Neptune in the side of the head, knocking him unconscious. As soon as this happened, the water enclosing Nebula splashed down to the ground. She fell onto her hands and knees gasping for air. Alex looks down at the downed Neptune.
"We have a lot of work to do," he said.
Open Field
Later out in an open field near the training course, the students were all practicing the use of their semblances with Winter, Penny, and the Ace Operatives. Harriet runs in circles with her Semblance, while Ruby dashes alongside her with her own Semblance. Weiss creates glyphs Ruby, making her speed up faster and passing Harriet. Jacob steps up next to Weiss and watches her for a moment before creating glyphs of his own beneath Harriet, making her speed up as well to the point of catching up to Ruby.
Ronin knelt down, getting into a running start position. His eyes started to glow for a moment, and suddenly before anyone could realize it, he dashed across the field like a bullet, and stopped and spin himself around before dashing back to where he started. Just as Ronin spun himself around to dash across the field again, Rin raises her hand at her brother as her eyes started to glow blue. As Ronin started to use his semblance to dash across the field, he was suddenly slowing down. Marrow was standing behind Rin watching the twins using their semblance.
"Not bad. Your semblance allows you to slow down anything, and your brother's semblance that gives him short bursts of speed," Marrow said.
"Thanks," Rin replied.
Jason and Justin were standing several feet away from each other facing each other.
"Ready to try out your semblance?" Jason asked.
"Set," Justin answered.
In the next second, the twins disappear in puffs of purple smoke and in a couple more puffs of smoke, they reappeared into each others positions.
"Love your semblance!" Jason said.
"Yeah. Able to switch physical locations with another living creature by teleporting is awesome," Justin said.
Azumi uses her semblance to send a junk car back several feet with Vine watching from behind her.
"Have you tried to use something other than your voice?" he asked.
"No, I never tried," Azumi answered.
"Perhaps you should focus you semblance on something other than your voice," Vine said.
Azumi turns to car the junk car and walks over to it. she slowly raised her hand and then snaps her fingers. Upon snapping her fingers, it creates a shockwave blowing the car back farther back and knocking Vine to the ground. Azumi turns around to see the Operative getting himself back up and then faces her.
"You'll need to practice on controlling it," he said.
"Yeah. Sorry about that," Azumi said, rubbing the back of her head.
"Your semblance is like a muscle! The more you practice with it, the stronger it will become! But if you only focus on one aspect of it, if you fail to test the limits of what you think is possible, then you'll never truly grow!" Winter instructed to all the students.
She turns her head to see Watson activate his semblance and punches a punching bag straight up in the air. Winter sighs in annoyance and walks over to him.
"Watson!" she spoke as Watson turns to her attention. "How often must I tell you?! Focus your semblance on something other than brute strength! That alone won't get you far enough!"
"Yes, ma'am! Sorry, ma'am!" Watson replied.
He turned around and ran off to use his semblance, as Winter watched him leave.
"I don't have high hopes for that boy. This is the fourth time a told him the same exact instruction," she muttered.
Barracks
Later at night, the Titan Squad were all getting ready to sleep for the night. Everyone was completely exhausted from their training.
"My everything really aches," Sun said.
"Get use to it, because this is just day one of hell," Scarlet said.
"My upside for all this is Clover and Winter. They sound like Eraserhead and Midnight in the English dubbed version of My Hero Academia," Azumi said.
"That's because they share the same English voice actors," Kelly said.
"We better get to sleep. We'll probably wake up real early in the morning," Jacob said.
"Yeah, Jacob's right. We are under military training. So we might be forced to wake up real early," Weiss said.
"Alright. Goodnight you guys. See you in the morning," Ruby said as she climbs into her bed.
