Chp. 23: Skates

Restroom

Britney exits out of a restroom looking slightly tired. It had been an hour since she had lost her match with Hera. With a sigh she starts walking down the hall, but stops when she sees Rebecca, Robert, Kendra, and Teams GRMA, RWBY, JNPR, JAAR, and OBSA approaching her.

"Hey, Brits. Are you doing alright?" Jacob asked.

"Yeah. You looked like you were about to lose it when you got your butt kicked," Yang said.

"Yeah, just a little tired is all," Britney answered.

"You sure you're okay?" Ruby asked.

"I'm fine. Just Hera trying to get under my skin is all," Britney answered.

"Oh! Let's break her legs!" Nora exclaimed with a sinister grin.

"The Karen's cries will be music to our ears," Watson said.

"Can I join in on this action?" Jacket asked.

"Guys, I know you're all looking out for me and that you all don't like her, but we don't need to escalate this any further, even though she is a total bitch," Britney said.

"Hey, why don't we all go out. Maybe get some burgers from McDonald's or something," Robert asked.

"There's a roller skating rink with a karaoke stage and an arcade that had just opened up a couple days ago. We could all go there," Kelly said.

"Sure," Kendra said.

"We can do that," Jaune said

"I'm in," Yang said.

"I suppose so," Weiss said.

"Sounds fun," Jesse said.

"Let's do it!" Azumi exclaimed.

"Then let's get ready to go," Ruby said.

"Can we join you guys?" Emerald asked.

Everyone turned to face Emerald and Mercury.

"Well, I'm not sure if th-" Weiss gets cut off when Watson covers her mouth.

"Sure, you can come," Watson answered.

"Just... don't do anything we'll regret," Jaune said.

"I'll make sure they won't. I am their team leader," Oscar said.

"Hey you guys," a new voice called.

Everyone turned to see Sun and Neptune walking up to the group.

"We overheard that you guys were going out," Sun said.

"Mind if we join you guys?" Neptune asked.

"Sure, the more the merrier," Ricky answered.

"Then I guess you guys won't mind if we joined you all?" another new voice asked.

Everyone turned to see Team GUVV.

"We don't mind at all," Azumi answered.

"At this point it might as well be a party," Kelly said.

"Party time!" Nora exclaimed.

"Please let us join you," yet another new voice spoke.

Everyone turned to see Ronin, Rin, and Liberty.

"We need a break from our 'leader,'" Rin said.

"She just won't shut up about her victory against Britney here," Ronin said, gesturing to the leader of Team CFDT.

"Even her own team can't stand her," Ricky said.

"Alright. You guys can come. You guys desperately need it from the looks of it," Jacob said.

"Thank you," Liberty said with a sigh of relief.

"Hello kiddies!" yet another new voice greeted the growing group.

Everyone turned to see Roman and Neopolitian.

"We heard you kids we're going out, and it's fair an adult were to keep an eye on you," Roman said as Neo nodded.

"Fine. Whatever," Ruby sighed in annoyance.

"Let's get going," Blake said.

Flying Wheels Arena

Later at sunset, RWBY, GRMA, JNPR, CFDT, OBSA, GUVV, JAAR, and Ronin, Rin, Liberty, Sun and Neptune were all enjoying themselves inside the roller skating rink known as the Flying Wheels Arena. Azumi and Genji were on the stage singing Awake and Alive by Skillet. Weiss gracefully skates around the rink on her roller skates. She slides to the left on her wheeled shoes, goes back around with an elegant twirl, and keeps spinning happily around wearing a cheerful expression. Weiss finishes her rotations in the center and gives a curtsy to her imaginary audience. Suddenly, Ruby skates past Weiss, making her nearly lose her balance.

"Ruby! Watch where you're-" before Weiss could finish her sentence, Liberty skates past her from behind, making Weiss slip and fall on her butt.

"Sorry, Weiss!" Liberty called out.

Ruby skates up to Oscar who was slow, but steadily skating on his roller skates.

"Hey, Oscar. You doing okay there?" she asked.

"Yeah, just getting used to this," Oscar answered.

"Hey, Red!" a voice called out to her.

Ruby and Oscar turned to see Neon skating up to the two.

"Hey, Neon. What are you doing here?" Ruby asked.

"Just trying out this new skating rink," Neon answered. "And I see you and your cute farm boy boyfriend here are having a good time."

The cat faunus gave a wink at them, making Oscar blush with a sly chuckle and Ruby giving out a blush of her own.

"W-What are you talking about? He-He-He's not my boyfriend! We're just friends!" Ruby stuttered.

"Whatever you say," Neon said as she then skated away.

Pyrrha was holding up Jaune as he had kept slipping and falling.

"Just keep on following my footing, Jaune," Pyrrha instructed.

"Sure thing, Pyrrha," Jaune replied, looking down at their feet as he was following his girlfriend's footing.

Following behind them was Jacob and Britney skating behind them.

"I needed a little fun after all this," Britney said.

"We all do, Britney," Jacob said.

Britney gave a heavy sigh which caught Jacob's attention.

"What's the matter?" he asked.

"I'm just worried," Britney answered.

"About what?" Jacob asked.

"You, taking back Hera. After I lost to her, I'm worried you might come back to her and leave me," Britney explained.

"Britney, you and I both know that it's not going to happen. You're perfect just the way you are," Jacob said.

"Do you really think so?" Britney asked.

"I don't think so, I know so," Jacob answered.

"Thanks, Jacob," Britney said, before pecking Jacob's cheek with a kiss.

A brief flash of light shined into the couple's faces. They turned to see Robert and Kendra, with Kendra holding her phone in her hand.

"Just a memory keepsake," Robert said.

Blake was skating around the rink. Yang skates up to her partner, catching her attention.

"Hey, Blake. This place is awesome isn't it?" Yang asked.

"Yeah, it is," Blake answered.

"Sup, ladies," another voice called.

'The two girls turned their heads to see Sun skating towards them.

"Hey, Sun," Blake and Yang greeted back.

"So what are you doing?" Blake asked.

"Just checking on how you guys are doing," Sun answered.

"Are you sure you're not just checking out the bellabooty?" Yang asked with a smirk as she gestured to Blake's butt, making the cat faunus glare at her partner with a blush.

"No! No! Not at all!" Sun answered as he frantically shook his head. "What makes you say that?"

"You followed Blake in Volume 4 without her knowing both in the show and in real life," Yang answered.

"I'm just looking out for her is all," Sun said.

"So you can get Blake to try out your banana?" Yang asked with a teasing smirk.

"Yang!" Blake and Sun exclaimed, blushing.

"Just kidding!" Yang said with a shrug.

Sitting at a table in the food court, Emerald looks at everyone around her with a depressed expression on her face. Watson then approaches her.

"Mind if I sit with you?" he asked.

"Knock yourself out," Emerald answered.

Watson takes a seat and sits across from Emerald.

"Any reason why you're sitting here alone?" Watson asked.

"I'm just not the 'have fun' kind of person," Emerald answered.

"And Mercury is not with you because?" Watson asked.

"He's playing something called air hockey with Jacket, while Torchwick is placing bets," Emerald answered.

Watson turns his head to see Mercury and Jacket in the arcade area, playing on an air hockey table with Jesse, Ronin, Justin, and Jason spectating. Roman was holding a large bowl filled with lien and cash, while Neo was counting a stack of cash in her hands.

"Well I can't just let you sit here by yourself," Watson said.

"Why? To make sure I don't pick from people's pockets or something?" Emerald asked with a deadpan expression.

"No. No. I just thought you might want some company," Watson answered.

"Fine. Whatever," Emerald waved off. "By the way, why did you let me and Mercury come along? Why didn't you say no?"

"I just... didn't want you guys to feel left out," Watson answered.

"Thanks, I guess," Emerald said.
