Chp. 28: Troubles of Chicago Pt. 2
City Hall
October 8, 2020
The next day at City Hall, Hazel was walking down the hallway looking for Mayor Lightfoot. He and the others weren't very happy with how Chicago was doing, especially when the mayor hadn't taken action. A moment later, he sees Lightfoot talking with some people.
"Lightfoot!" Hazel called.
The Chicago mayor turns around to face Hazel as he approaches.
"Yes? What is It?" Lightfoot asked.
"Are you aware of what's been happening in your city?" Hazel asked.
"You mean the protests by the Black Lives Matter movement and Antifa? Yes. They are making progress," Lightfoot answered.
Hazel was shocked to hear the mayor's answer.
"Progress? Those protestors tried to protect someone who was taking a child hostage and has a history of pedophilia," Hazel argued.
"That man had a wife and kids to provide for. Not to mention the kid was inherently racist from what I heard," Lightfoot said.
"Are you really siding with that predator?! From what one of the kids told me, he was about to rape that child!" Hazel said as he grew more angry.
"Listen, I am Chicago's first black, lesbian woman that was elected mayor of this city! And all those people rely on me to support them!" Lightfoot said. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend to."
As the Mayor turned around and walked away, Hazel angrily punched the wall next to him putting a hole into it before turning around and walking away.
Downtown
Later at night, Kelly, Fox, Justin, Jason, Flynt, Neon, Jesse, Jacket, Mercury, Genji, Azumi, Roman, Neo, Hazel, and Teresa were all walking down the sidewalk in downtown Chicago.
"I've tried to tell her about all the stuff that's been going on, but she's brushing this all off as mostly peaceful," Hazel said.
"Are you fucking serious right now?!" Genji asked in shock.
"Now you know why I don't really like her. She's just that awful," Teresa said.
"She also boasted about being the first lesbian black woman to be mayor of Chicago," Hazel said.
"And apparently, she's a narcissist too," Flynt said.
"Jesse. Jacket. I'm curious. I've heard Huntsmen and Huntresses have named their weapons. So did you name your weapons?" Teresa asked.
"The Equalizer," Jacket answered.
"Bonnie and Clyde," Jesse said.
Jacket turns his his at his partner with a weird look on his face.
"I'm a little uncomfortable with you naming one of your sub-machine guns after my ex," he said.
"I was naming them after the infamous outlaw couple. I wasn't intentionally naming her after your cheating ex-girlfriend," Jesse said.
"Guys, do you hear that?" Teresa cuts in.
Everyone grew quiet and soon heard the sounds of screaming and yelling, and smelled smoke in the distance. After taking a short moment to process, everyone started to run over to follow the screaming and yelling. A moment later, they all ran around a corner to find a few shops and businesses being looted, set on fire, or being vandalized. Several people were running in terror as others dressed in hoodies and facial masks were terrorizing the street. Kelly narrowed her eyes at the looters and saw that some of them were wearing clothes that were labeled Black Lives Matter, or had an emblem on them, which featured a black flag and a red flag behind it inside a circle, and outside it had the words 'ANTIFASCIST ACTION' on it.
"The BLM and Antifa are causing a lot of havoc here," Kelly said.
"You two," Roman pointed at Jacket and Jesse. "Take your little friend home and get her out of here."
"Come on," Jesse said as he grabbed Teresa's hand.
Jacket, Jesse, and Teresa all ran away from the scene as everyone else split off and ran into the chaotic street to take control of the rioting. Azumi and Genji pulled out their guitars and confronted four members of Antifa.
"Stop right there!" Azumi shouted.
The four men turned to face Azumi and Genji and then rushed towards the two. Azumi swung her guitar at the first man's head, knocking him unconscious. Genji swept his guitar at the second man's legs, tripping him. He follows this up by swinging his guitar at the second man knocking him into the third man. Azumi jumps over towards the last man and kicks him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
The Vines twins ran up to a small shop and saw a couple of BLM beating on a black mother on the ground, while her daughter no older than six had a black eye and was crying and begging the two protestors to stop hurting her mother. Jason and Justin ran over as they both kicked the two men to the ground. The two BLM protestors looked up at the twins with anger.
"People like you give black people a bad name," Jason said.
"Yeah. And you claim to fight for equality, and yet you're attacking a mother and her kid who are both black," Justin said. "What the hell is wrong with you people?"
"Shut up, race traitors!" one of the protestors yelled.
One of the protestors pulls out a knife, while the other pulls out a glass beer bottle. The one with the knife rushes over to Justin, but Justin quickly retaliates by pulling out his lightsaber and slits the protestors throat. The other protestor charges over at Jason, who responds by miming up an invisible wall as the protestor slams himself into it and then falls to the ground unconscious. Justin looks down at the protester he had killed for a moment before he and Jason turned over to face the mother and daughter who were embraced into each other's arms.
Meanwhile just a couple blocks away, Jesse and Jacket ran down the street as they escort Teresa to safety. The three ran around a corner and saw nine armed black men who were going over some jewelry and moble devices inside their bags that they had stolen. Jacket looks closely at the looters, then immeditely recognized them as the Black Disiples. The nine gang members soon turned their heads and took notice of Jacket, Jesse, and Teresa.
"Look what we got here, boys!"
"Shit," Jacket muttered as he and Jesse drew their weapons.
As the Black Disciples aimed their guns at the three, a black Mustang and two other cars drove up from behind them and screeched to a stop behind Jesse, Jacket, and Teresa. Sitting in the driver seat of the Mustang was Bloody Mary, along with members of the Latin Kings in the other cars. She aimed a submachine gun at the three as well as the other Latin Kings in the other cars
"Get down!" Bloody Mary yelled.
Jesse, Jacket, and Teresa all ducked down to the ground and Bloody Mary and the Latin Kings opened fire on the Black Disciples as they all dropped deaqd to the ground. Bloody Mary and the Latin Kings stopped shooting and Jesse, Jacket, and Teresa all got up from the ground. They looked back and forth between the Latin Kings and the now dead members of the Black Disciples for a moment before Jacket finally spoke.
"Thanks I guess."
"Just remember, you guys owe me for this," Bloody Mary said. "And Jacket. We'll see each other again my futuro marido."
'Bloody Mary then drives away as the Latin Kings followher behind.
"What did she call me?" Jacket asked
"I think she called you 'Future husband'," Teresa answered.
"Husband?! Fuck that! She raped me and got pregnant and she thinks that automatically makes me her husband?!" Jacket shouted.
"Come on. Let's just get Teresa home," Jesse said.
Meanwhile a few blocks back, Kelly, Fox, and Hazel ran down the street and stopped as they saw a jewelry store being robbed and looted by five BLM protestors. Kelly and Fox pulled out their weapons and stepped over to the shattered window of the jewelry store.
"Freeze!" Kelly shouted at the five looters.
"Stop right there!" Fox ordered the looters.
The looters stopped what they were doing and turned their heads to face Kelly, Fox, and now Hazel who had followed them behind. One of the looters pulls out a pistol and shoots at Kelly and Fox, but Hazel jumps up right in front of them and takes the shots. He walks up to the looter as he continues to shoot at him. As soon as he was right in front of him, Hazel smacks the gun away from the looter and punches him in the face, knocking him head first onto the edge of a table breaking his neck and killing him. Hazel turns to the other looters with a scowl.
"Anyone else want to try anything stupid?" he asked as all the looters then dropped everything they had and put their hands in the air.
Mercury, Neon, Flynt, Roman, and Neo ran down the street with all the chaos around them. They soon stopped when they saw a small group of police officers in riot gear struggling to push back a mob of protestors who were throwing projectiles at them.
"We've got to help them!" Neon said.
Flynt walked up a few steps and used his semblance to create three copies of himself. He and the three other duplicates all blew on their trumpets as a large soundwave that blew the rioting protesters to the ground. Some of the protestors got back up and charged over towards Flynt and the duplicates. Roman aimed Melodic Cudgel at the oncoming rioters and fired a blast at them, which struck the ground and knocked them all over.
Four of the protestors rushed over at Roman, but Neo and Mercury rushed in between them. Mercury got into a handstand and while doing the splits, fired a couple shots at two rioters, killing them. Neo drew out her parasol as a blade popped out of the tip, and slashed at one of the protesters in the chest, then the other in the throat. Both rioters fell to the ground as they began to bleed out.
As Flynt keeps the other rioters down to the ground, Neon cracks the glow sticks on her nunchaku and skates over to the protestors. She shakes past each and everyone of the protestors and struck their legs, encasing them in ice. The protestors were unable to move their legs at Flynt and his duplicates stopped playing on their trumpets, allowing the riot police to detain them. Flynt absorbs his duplicates as Neon skates over to his side.
Kelly, Fox, Hazel, Azumi, Genji, Justin, Jason, Mercury, Neo, and Roman all gathered to see the riots were now under control. Some of the police and onlookers all gathered around them and clapped and cheered for them.
"That takes care of that," Genji said.
"I bet the mayor will thank us for this," Mercury said.
City Hall
Mayor's Office
October 9, 2020
Later the next morning, everyone was gathered inside Lightfoot's office at City Hall. The mayor herself sits behind her desk, glaring at the group in front of her.
"Let me tell you all some words. The actions you all took on the Black Lives Matter movement and Antifa for their peaceful protests have cost several people their lives," Lightfoot said.
"Excuse me?" Mercury asked, shocked by Lightfoot's words.
"You call burning down businesses, attacking and attempting to kill innocent people peaceful? Are you fucking high or something?!" Kelly asked.
"Yeah! And those several people we had killed last night either tried to attack us, or were about to kill someone!" Justin said.
"Those protests were meant to fight back against white supremacy within our society," Lightfoot argued.
"Are you even listening to yourself right now, lady? Those people were acting like animals out there. There was nothing peaceful about what happened last night!" Roman argued back.
"Of course it wasn't, because you attacked them! It's in your nature, white boy!" Lightfoot said, raising her voice.
"Okay, first of all they attacked first! There were witnesses! And second, what did you just call me?" Roman asked as Neo glared at the mayor as she gripped tightly on Hush.
"You heard what I said. And it's the truth," Lightfoot said.
"Ma'am. You are being completely-" Hazel gets cut off by the Chicago mayor.
"No, sir! No, sir! You all are full of crap! And that's the most polite thing I can say to you at this point!" Lightfoot said.
"That's it, you selfish bitch! I myself believe we can all live in equality! I thought you'd be the same thing, but now I just seeing you as ignorant and a racist! You're not making black people's reputation better than white people's with these actions! And now I see the problem of why Chicago is like this, and I'm looking right at it!" Azumi shouted.
"That's it! Get out of my office! In fact, get out of my city! I don't want to see you assholes here in this city again!" Lightfoot yelled.
"Fine with us. We'd rather be somewhere else than in a city runned by an ignorant woman. And one day, you will suffer the consequences of your own actions and you will have nobody to blame but yourself in the end," Hazel said.
The group turned around and walked out the door, leaving Lightfoot in her office alone in her office.
Chicago International Airport
Lobby
A couple hours later, Kelly, Fox, Justin, Jason, Flynt, Neon, Jesse, Jacket, Mercury, Genji, Azumi, Roman, Neo, and Hazel were all standing out in the lobby going through their luggage.
"What an ungrateful little bitch," Roman spoke with venom.
"Tell me about it. She kicked us all out of Chicago, because we were telling her how violent the BLM and Antifa were, and called her out on her racism and ignorance," Genji said.
"Sorry about what I did back there," Azumi said.
"Don't be, cuz. You were just saying what we were all thinking," Kelly said.
"On the plus side, our mission here ended early, and we all get to go home now," Mercury said.
"Yeah, I guess so," Jesse said.
"The sooner we get out of here, the sooner we don't have to deal with this bullshit city," Roman said.
"So what did Major Gordon have to say about this whole thing?" Neon asked.
"He was not happy about Mayor Lightfoot's incompetence and her kicking us out of Chicago. He is planning to give her a phone call about the whole thing. He's told us to just head back to Mountain Glenn," Hazel answered.
"I doubt he'll get through to that n**** bitch," Jacket said.
"Come on. Let's get out of here," Hazel said.
They all walked out of the lobby and out to find their flight.
Author's Note: Coincidencely just a few days ago in real life, Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago had just lost her bit for re-election, meaning she will no longer be mayor of Chicago. The people have spoken, they want her out and got their wish.
