CODEXes :
Higher Beings .
Each Multiverse has it's own set of Higher Beings, watching over the various dimensions of their multiverse. With the Q acting as regulators of all Universes.
Omniva :
The consciousness of this Cosmos, meaning they are the "One True God". At least for this collection of realities. While each universe, and Pocket dimension inside them, has their separate conciousness, Omniva is made up of the Awareness of all things
Deities:
• Most Deities are actually mortals, which ascended into higher beings. This is usually achieved by reaching "true enlightenment". Which entails sharing a single thought, amongst all their universal counterparts, and merging with them as one entity. This is just amongst lifeforms of their multiverse, and not all multiverses throughout the Cosmos.
This grants them infinite power, and a complex conciousness, which represents an Infinity of their personas.
However, some have achieved this through artificial means, merging the universal consciousnesses by an advanced form of techno-magic.
Cosmic Beings:
• In addition to "Deities", there are also "Cosmic Entities". Whom were created when the Cosmos first emerged. They come in pairs, and each represent a different "Cosmic Force", as well as the "Cosmic Laws".
The Cosmic Beings, of the Omniva Verse, are part of the reason the Q created a new reality. As these Cosmic entities, threatened to destroy the Q, if they didn't... and they actually have the power to.
Each Cosmic Force has their own army of lower "Entities", Often called "Celestials" or "Angels", whom represent different "Cosmic Laws".
Kami :
• Kami are mortals, who have unlocked their "Divine Ki". Usually through achieving supreme power, or wisdom, or determination. They have power that can rival gods, and often call themselves "gods". While they can't die of old age, thanks to their power sustaining their body, they are still mortal, and so can die. It's just harder to kill them, and they can reincarnate themselves, maintaining their memories.
Shinigami / Gods of Death :
A "Shinigami" is a god born as a Sapient dimension, although there are other types of those. They grow more powerful, the more souls they collect.
It takes a Shinigami 10,000 years, to "digest" a soul. That is, to permanently upgrade themselves. At which point, the Shinigami releases the soul to be reincarnated. So they have a chance to grow, and thereby infuse their Shinigami with more power.
Some souls, through different means, are chosen as Reapers. Think of them as Cosmic House Elves. Creatures that feed off the Shinigami's magic, through a Psychic link, in exchange for gathering souls for them. The more souls they gain, the more Reapers they can support.
As Shinigami are rare. They tend to hold jurisdiction over several million Leylines, throughout the cosmos. Having a carved out domain, in millions of different Multiverses.
Koenma :
A 700 year old toddler, who just recently turned into a teenager. The son of King Enma Yama, ruler over the spirit world, and Hela, one of trillions of Shinigami.
Unfortunately, having a demi giant for a grandfather (Loki), Koenma had inherited the beings magical affliction. Making him more human sized. And not the 100 feet tall of his mother and father.
Koenma was the Shinigami in charge of the Styx Leyline. It is common for gods of death too look after a single Leyline, and all it's connecting pocket dimensions.
Koenma had begged his parents to let him take over this Leyline. Not just because of all the magic coursing through it... but because its worlds were chosen by the Doctor, himself, Koenma's idol. Who used the Leyline for the Refugees, that lost their planet during the Time War.
His parents surprised the young death god, for his 5th century, and gave him the leyline as a birthday present.
Although for the first 200 years, he struggled, he had become better adjusted by his 742nd birthday. Becoming a teenager, based on the number of souls he collected into himself, and the increase in power that allowed.
Koenma threw a great deal of money at Genkai, until the old woman agreed to train all 5 of his Champions.
They were all A rank now. Well most of his friends could destroy a planet... Yusuke could destroy a solar system.
So obviously, King Yama was antsy about letting, such powerful demons, stay in the mortal plane. However, as he had been regularly observing them, he decided to keep a "wait and see" policy.
Koenma's Parents .
• King Enma Yama:
The first Sapient lifeform to ever die, within the entire Cosmos. From the very beginning, even before the Q destroyed everything, and reshaped it all.
The Cosmic Beings, tasked him with looking after the souls of all other Sapients. As animal souls already had their own gods.
Later, King Yama's duties expanded to dividing territory amongst the Shinigami, and settling disputes of where souls would go. Even acting as direct Judge to the more high profile souls.
King Yama eventually grew into his station, but it took millions of years. For the past few billion, he had been on equal footing with the gods.
Unlike some of his counterparts, within the "Crossover Cosmos" they inhabit, This King Yama is actually much kinder and more patient.
Although he does have a dislike of Demons, that's more because such creatures frequently jump in and out of dimensions at their leisure. Creating infinite possibilities, and more often then not, destroying the plans of the gods of fate.
Interdimensional beings, meaning anyone who isn't actually native to a universe, destroy the Destiny of everyone they come in contact with, like a domino effect.
This causes gods of fate, to scrap all their plans, and have to write up new ones. Obviously this means a lot of paper work, which Enma has to read and approve the trillions of potential paths, each person can take.
However, because of this, gods of "Free Will" love interdimensional interactions. Particularly beings born from these unions, as they are the ultimate expression of Free Will.
While King Yama finds this annoying, the fact he married such an entity, shows he doesn't outwardly hate the concept. His purpose is just to "Balance the Scales", which interdimensional interactions make difficult. So that's why he tries to limit demon interaction with the rest of the multiverse.
However, he feels no true malice for demons, or others such creatures, just finds them annoying.
He also has a deep love of both his Wife and son... and is in fact, an overprotective helicopter parent.
• Hela Loki-daughter :
Daughter to the demi god Loki, and a Midgardian gypsy. As her own father was the Product of a god and a Frost giant. The Result is Hela is one of these "ultimate expressions of free will", a being of pure chaos, with an ancestry if three realms... plus the Asgard magic her father was fused with.
When Hela was a mere fetus, Odin, Loki's adoptive father, cut her out of the demi giant, and hurled her into a hell dimension. Soon after, Loki tracked her soul down, and found his dead child.
Loki then called on his Mastery of magic, to conquer the realm, and fold it inside her. Only able to, because of her fluke of birth, as a Shinigami.
With all those souls powering her, Hela was able to retake physical form
The demi giant then left the babe with the Shinigami, within the Ether between universes... where they had raised her.
Since time runs by it's own laws, within this void. She was technically billions of years older then her father. While still being the equivalent of a human 20 something.
Koenma's Champions.
• Rando:
The official winner of Genkai's Tournament. With the reward of becoming the apprentice to the world's most powerful Psychic, Genkai herself. But when he killed Yusuke... the boy's demon blood kicked in.
It was a good thing, Yusuke died, as after he ascended into a demon, he totally kicked Rando's ass... only to be told he had already lost the tournament. Having died and all.
Although Genkai, the powerful psychic, agreed to train both Yusuke and Rando.
Rando had killed 99 Psychics, to steal their powers, but training with Yusuke... going through that hell together. They had gotten to know each other, and Rando even softened a good deal, despite becoming far more powerful.
• Yusuke:
Yusuke might have been born a human, but he had a demon ancestor, buried deep in his family tree.
The genes were mostly dormant, activated by a violent death, after achieving a certain power level.
Since Yusuke just barely achieved the power level, he ascended into a B Rank demon. Just powerful enough to go under King Yama's attention... although not so unnoticeable, Koenma didn't earn himself a thorough spanking. That is, for not studying Yusuke's ancestry more carefully.
• Hiei:
A three eyed swordsman, and fire demon. He literally tried to enslave the world, but now he's working for Koenma, and is one of Yusuke's best friends.
• Kurama:
A pretty common name for fox demons. He used to be a pretty ruthless guy. Although Yusuke couldn't take the credit for converting him... he had been badly injured, and had to reincarnate himself through a human... and came to love his mortal mother. Even attempted to sacrifice his life, so that she could be cured of a terminal illness.
• Kuwabara:
Yusuke's first real obstacle, was a notable psychic, for his sheer level of spiritual awareness. He had been Yusuke's school yard rival... and had grown into his best friend.
Although Yusuke was still pissed, that when King Yama demanded Koenma replace the teen, as Earth's defender, the immortal toddler chose Kuwabara.
King Yama was insistent, and although he tolerated his son's obsession of hiring demons, the king refused to let one be Koenma's "Spirit Detective".
So Yusuke got demoted, and Kuwabara was hired on.
Tenza:
• Once every billion years, the Q spawn a few hundred "Tenza", without need of a second parent. Tenza are a race of energy beings, with hair of crystals, and have far weaker reality warping powers then the Q. Although they can still destroy star clusters with a thought.
• Tenza are sent out as eggs, to their godly parent's favored planet, to choose their own mortal parents. As, for all a Tenza's infinite lifespan, and their vast power, they are still mortal creatures. So the gods have trouble relating to them, when they are young. Tenza generally need to be around for a thousand years, before they can begin to understand their godly parent.
• Tenza have a natural "perception filter", which distorts everyone's view of reality, just enough to make the world think the baby was naturally born to their mortal parents. And for the child to look like a combination of their mortal parents, by mimicking their DNA.
• Tenza Children do all this instinctively, with no ill intent, and truthfully, no knowledge that is what they have done. They are truly babies, when they choose their parents.
• Tenza have an instinctive need to be "The Perfect Child", but go through a rebellious streak, during puberty. Which usually occurs later then the race they mimic.
• While they can reproduce with any species, once every 3000 years, they lay dozens to hundreds of eggs. With those eggs instinctively drifting off on their own. It takes them 42 years to lay all their eggs.
Demi-gods:
• Most children, born of Higher Beings, are immortal lifeforms, but not gods themselves. While they have immense power, they don't hold infinite power
• Asgardians, of Marvel Comics, are one of these races of demi-gods, that have evolved from higher beings. In their case, they come from the deity "Odin".
• Koenma is both a Shinigami, and a Demi-god. As his Mother, Hela, was born of the Demi-god, Loki. While his father, King Yama, grew into a Kami of Death.
