Hiccup awakens with a strange gurgling sound. He slowly opened his eyes. Hiccup, with sleepy eyes, saw a large, jet-black figure staring at him intently. The figure was next to his bed.

"Morning Toothless." said Hiccup with a yawn. He slowly put on his bear fur coat and was about to open his bedroom door. Hiccup thinks of making breakfast for himself and Toothless. Wait! Toothless?!

Hiccup very quickly turned around and stared at Toothless who was playing with one of his failed inventions.

"Toothless?!" he cried in a whisper. Hiccup is very panicked. How is Toothless in his house?! If his father saw this, he would be finished! No. Most likely Toothless will be killed immediately.

"What are you doing here bud?!" he cried frantically. Hiccup immediately covered his mouth, he accidentally shouted loudly.

"Hiccup?!" someone shouted below. His father!

"No, no!" whispered Hiccup frantically. He was confused, how did he hide Toothless here?

Panicking, Hiccup grabs a sack and covers Toothless's face, which makes the dragon groan in annoyance, as if to say "Oi what are you doing?!"

"Oh no, of course this can't be!" Hiccup shouted increasingly panicked. "How stupid I am!"

Footsteps were heard up the stairs leading to Hiccup's room. Hiccup is getting panicked. He had absolutely no idea what to do. Until, suddenly Toothless took Hiccup and threw him on his scaly back. Hiccup was very surprised but still didn't make a sound. The dragon swiftly and silently passed through the open window and flew away into the forest.

When Hiccup is on Toothless's back, he stretches his arms and closes his eyes.

"Is this what being a dragon feels like?" he thought while feeling the cool morning breeze. "I feel... free!"

Toothless started flying down towards the cove where they first met. Hiccup climbed down carefully from Toothless's back.

"Toothless, what are you doing in my house?!" asked Hiccup annoyed, remembering the incident a few minutes ago. Toothless purrs softly in return, as if to say he misses Hiccup.

"I know bud, I miss you too, but sneaking around like that is really dangerous." Hiccup said worriedly as he stroked Toothless's head gently.

After their brief encounter, Hiccup must return to the village. He couldn't confuse his father in Hiccup's absence. Although he actually doubted that his father would even care about his presence.

Hiccup walked towards his house and slowly opened the door. There he was greeted by his father who sat by the fire that had been extinguished.

"Where do you go?" Stoick asked gruffly. "I went into your room and you weren't there."

"E-er, I-I'm going for a walk," Hiccup stammered badly. "You know, flexing the muscles."

"That's enough!" said Stoick brushing it off. "I have something important to discuss with you."

Hiccup saw his father's expression become very serious and cold. What is it? I mean, he didn't do anything wrong, as far as he could remember.

"A-about what?" asked Hiccup very worriedly.

"I revoke your heir rights." Stoick's answer was short.

Hiccup feels time freeze. His eyes widened and his breath caught. His heir rights revoked?!

"Could father tell me the reason?" Hiccup asked softly, still in shock.

Stoick who heard it laughed out loud. No. The laughter was mocking.

"What else do I need to explain?" he said coldly. "Obviously since you are too disappointing to be a chief, there will only be destruction if you become a chief."

Hiccup is hurt to hear that. Tears welled up in his emerald eyes, but he held them back. He had never expected his own father to say such a thing so loudly and carefree. Maybe it was true what his father said. If he becomes the chief, the village will be on the verge of annihilation. He is weak and small, no one will accept him to be chief.

But who? Who will replace him in heir rights? Could it be Snotlout's stupid cousin? But, making that person the head of the tribe, was tantamount to suicide.

"Who?" Hiccup asked softly, but allowed Stoick to hear him anyway.

"What?"

"Who will replace me and take the inheritance?" asked Hiccup.

Stoick glanced coldly at the chestnut-haired boy.

"What do you care?" he asked.

"I-I was just wondering," Hiccup said, bowing his head.

"Someone better than you," he replied. Hiccup is very hurt to hear that. "Her name is Astrid, Astrid Hofferson."

With that, Stoick walked out of the house and left a shocked and dumbfounded Hiccup.

ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Currently, Hiccup is in the Great Hall. Waiting for Chief Stoick to make an announcement. Stupid announcement regarding the revocation of Hiccup's inheritance rights and the granting of inheritance rights to Astrid.

The Great Hall was bustling as usual ask. However, there were murmurs of confusion among them. What kind of announcement does Chief want to make?

Hiccup, who was present at this place, was actually forced by his father, to look around. He could notice the disgusted looks the villagers gave him. Hiccup also saw Astrid who was chatting with her parents who were very happy.

"They must have been informed before I did." Hiccup muttered.

After waiting for a while, Stoick the Vast finally appeared and stood before the residents.

"Dear people of Berk, thanks for coming," Stoick said thunderously as usual. "I have some important announcements to make to all of you,"

The villagers now took Stoick's statement seriously.

"As you all know, I had a son who I hoped would make a good chieftain, but he didn't," said Stoick. "I can't count how many complaints you guys gave me about Hiccup's mistakes. We all know that that kid never deserved to be a viking let alone a tribal leader. So I decree that Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III be disinherited!"

The Great Hall was silent for a few seconds after Stoick's announcement, but slowly there was a murmur of approval and then a roar.

"Good!"

"It is only fitting that 'useless' should be revoked by its heirs!"

"We need a great heir, not some weakling like that brat!"

"Common sense chief is back!"

"Good decision Stoick!"

Lots of exclamations and grunts of approval from the villagers. They were really happy that the good-for-nothing Hiccup was no longer the heir. All this time, that scrawny brat had only caused havoc in the village. Not to mention his small and weak physique, the people of Berk would rather be eaten by Gronckle than having Hiccup as their chief.

On the other hand, Astrid who was with her parents, still couldn't believe that she would become the chief of the tribe. I mean, it's a great honor to be a tribal chief, but not like this. Taking rights from her former friends, was really something she didn't want to do. Astrid struggled in her own thoughts. If she is now the heir to Berk, what about Hiccup's fate? Would the bullying people put on him get any worse? In the absence of the title of heir, the public will be free to intimidate Hiccup.

Astrid's eyes accidentally caught Hiccup leaning against the wall of the Great Hall. She noticed that Hiccup's expression was mixed. Between sadness, disappointment, regret, resignation and angry. Angry? What happens when Hiccup gets angry? She had never seen Hiccup angry in her life. During this time, Hiccup is a friendly child but a little shy. What if he was angry with Berk for what they had done to him?

"Then who is the new heir?"

Astrid was awakened from her reverie by the cry of one of the Berkian vikings. Astrid closed her eyes and calmed her thoughts. Lately, she often struggled in her mind, because of the many events that occurred. Hiccup is not a threat to Berk, even when he is angry. However, he is a weak figure that can be beated by Stoick in 3 seconds.

"Okay, here's the second announcement," Stoick continued. "With Hiccup's disinheritance, I decree that Astrid Hofferson, the finest teenage warrior and one of the most fearless warriors, be the heir to Berk."

Cheers rang out from the Berkian crowd. They knew that Harold Hofferson's daughter had an extraordinary viking spirit. Smart, obedient, disciplined, skilled fighter, fearless, dignified and beautiful, Astrid Hofferson is very attached.

Many Berkians flocked to congratulate Astrid and her parents. Ignoring Spitelout's sullen expression that was annoyed that his child was not chosen. Snotlout Jorgenson, looking slightly jealous, covered up the truth by boasting loudly that the new heir to Berk was his lover.

Astrid, who was having a hard time dealing with the Berk residents who flocked to her, noticed that Hiccup, who was originally standing in the far corner of the Great Hall, was now leaving the hall without looking back. Astrid felt really bad. After all the bad things she did to her former best friend, this was the worst. I mean, taking away Hiccup's birthright, which had been attached to him since he was born, is really something.

To cover up her sadness, this blonde girl developed a fake smile and shook hands with every Berkian who came her way.
