Chp. 40: Election Day Pt. 1
Beacon Academy, Vale
November 1, 2020
It was now morning the next day, and walking out of their dorm room building, RWBY, JNPR, GRMA, CFDT, OBSA, and JAAR were all proceeding to head to the landing dock to head to the city.
"What are you guys planning on doing when we get to the city?" Ilia asked.
"Getting a book," Blake answered.
"You mean get more smut?" Rebecca asked.
"It's not smut! It's erotic literature!" Blake shouted with a slight blush.
"Whatever you say, Blake. At least you got to live out your fantasies back in Menagerie," Yang said.
"Yang!" Blake yelled, turning more red.
"Anyway, what about the rest of you guys?" Oscar asked.
"I'm just doing some patrols out in the city as Sonic String," Azumi said, raising up One For All.
"Seriously, Azumi? Is that all you do everytime you go out into Vale?" Weiss asked.
"Crime doesn't rest, so neither will I," Azumi replied.
"You're such a hero geek. You're somehow even worse than Ruby," Emerald said.
"Hey!" Ruby said, glaring at Emerald.
All their Scrolls and phones beeped and vibrated, catching their owners' attention. They pulled out their devices from their pockets and read the message on them.
"Are you guys getting the same message from Professor Ozpin?" Jesse asked.
"Yeah. He wants us all to come to his office," Ren answered
"Wonder what he wants?" Watson said.
"We better check it out then," Britney said.
The six teams turned around and started to make their way to Professor Ozpin's office.
Headmaster's Office
A few minutes later, RWBY, GRMA, OBSA, JNPR, CFDT, JAAR, and HRRB were gathered into the headmaster's office where Professor Ozpin sat behind his desk with Glynda and Qrow standing next to him.
"Professor, why did you call us here?" Hera asked.
"I called you all here because you all are being sent to Atlas for a mission," Ozpin answered.
"Another one?" Oscar asked.
"Tomorrow you all will be sent to Atlas to act as security for the elections for the seat of their council," Ozpin answered.
"What a coincidence. We're also having our own election back home in America," Robert said.
"Yeah, but the debates between President Trump and Joe Biden felt like an argument between a couple of kindergarteners," Britney said.
"Especially in the first debate," Ronin added.
Ricky pulled his phone out of his pocket and tapped on it for a moment. He then presents the phone to everyone as his phone plays a video clip of Trump and Biden's first debate.
"You should go out and vote. You're in voting now. Vote and let your senators know how strongly you feel now," Biden spoke, facing one of the cameras.
"Are you gonna pack the court?" Trump asked as Biden was speaking. "Are you gonna pack the court?"
"Vote now. Make sure that you let people know your senators-" Biden gets cut off when his political opponent interrupts him.
"He doesn't want to answer the question," Trump said.
"I'm not going to answer the question because-" again Biden gets interupted.
"Well why won't you answer the question?" Trump asked.
The candidates argued and overlapped each other for a moment until Biden spoke up.
"Will you shut up man?!"
Ricky pauses the video as everyone in the room all cringes for a moment until Ozpin speaks.
"This is no different from a few other elections for a seat on the councils of the four kingdoms," he said, then took a sip from his mug.
"While President Trump shouldn't have constantly interrupted his opponent, Biden shouldn't tell others to shut up during events like this," Glynda said.
"To be fair Trump has a right to be suspicious. I mean, this Biden character here looks off. And the pictures and videos I found online of Biden sniffing women and little girls' hair really got me on edge," Qrow said.
"Or when he said he loved little kids jumping on his lap," Allen added.
"That's Creepy Joe for you," Kendra said.
"Back on the topic at hand, we all are to go to Atlas because of what we all saw on Volume 7?" Blake asked.
"And if so, does he really need this many of us?" Rin added, gesturing her arms at everyone around her.
"General Ironwood and Robyn Hill want to make sure that there are no events like what would have happened in Volume 7," Ozpin answered.
"Then I guess we all better start packing up so we can all be ready to go," Pyrrha said.
"Good. I'll let the General know of your arrival," Ozpin said.
"And I'll be going with you guys," Qrow added.
Atlas Academy, Atlas
Headmaster's Office
November 3, 2020
A couple days later inside Atlas Academy, General Ironwood was sitting behind his desk going over some paperwork. The doors slide open as soldiers walk in and approach the General.
"Sir, the team from Beacon Academy you asked for has arrived," one of the soldiers spoke.
"Send them in," Ironwood replied.
The two soldiers then walk out of the room as Ironwood sets all his papers aside. The doors slid open as Teams RWBY, GRMA, OBSA, JNPR, CFDT, JAAR, and HRRB, and Qrow all entered inside his office and approached his desk.
"I'm glad you could all make it here," Ironwood said.
"Yeah, yeah, Jimmy. We got your message. Your paranoia is starting to act up again? Have you been neglecting those therapy sessions Keaton suggested to you?" Qrow asked.
"I'm just concerned over the council seat elections becoming a repeat of Volume 7," Ironwood answered.
"Yep. Paranoia," Qrow said.
"It's not just me, Qrow. It's Robyn Hill, her Happy Huntresses, the Council, and her supporters that are concerned. They're having a hard time trusting the kingdom's security," Ironwood said.
"So is to just make sure nothing bad happens like in Volume 7?" Ren asked.
"Yes. While we have changed up the coding and security in all of Atlas and Mantle, unease still follows the people here. They demanded extra protection during this event. Which is why I brought you all here," Ironwood explained.
"How's my father's campaign?" Weiss asked
"Terrible. Ever since the show came out to Remnant's populace, a lot of people became very less trustful with Jacques to say the least. Especially now that they know that he will stoop to any low just in spite of anyone that crosses him," Ironwood explained.
"That's not surprising," Nora said.
"Yeah, what else is new?" Robert asked with a chuckle.
"He hasn't shut up about how Rooster Teeth ruined his campaign and how RWBY, the show, had been destroying his business, and how President Donald Trump's influence worsened the SDC's business. Jacques alone has been a handful lately," Ironwood said.
"I bet he has been," Jacob said.
"Look on the bright side, at least he's most definitely not going to be on the council from the looks of it," Watson said.
"What a dumbass cracker he is," Jacket said
"Which is why you're all here to make sure the elections stay fair and Salem has no part in it. Specialist Schnee, Penny, and the Ace Ops are waiting outside with tasks for each and everyone of you. You're all dismissed," Ironwood said.
The seven teams and veteran Huntsman all turned around and left the General's office. They all walked out into the hall where Winter, Penny, and the Ace Ops were waiting. Just as they were about to confront each other, a new voice called out to Hera.
"Hera!"
"Oh God! Please don't let him be here too!" Jacob thought.
Everyone turned to see a boy with long black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing Atlas student body uniform, consisting of a white long-sleeved shirt with a gray pocket-vest jacket on top. They were accompanied by a pair of white dress gloves and a dark-gray tie, and a pair of long white trousers. He also wore a black beret on top of his head.
"Basil!" Hera calls out to the boy known as Basil.
She ran up to the boy and they both excitedly embraced each other in their arms. Jacob glances his head over to Winter.
"Is he really a student here?" Jacob asked.
"Yes," Winter answered.
"You know him, Jacob?" Ricky asked.
"Remember when I told you guys that Hera cheated on me with her brother?" Jacob asked, then gesturing his head to Basil.
Teams RWBY, JNPR, CFDT, OBSA, JAAR, Ricky, Allen, Kelly, Rin, Ronin, and Liberty soon widened their eyes once they processed the information given to them.
"Ohhhhh," Ricky said.
"That dude is her brother?!" Emerald asked.
"Yeah, that's fucked up. I'll tell you that," Jacket said.
"I may be a shipper, but even I don't ship people with their own siblings. If they were step-siblings then sure, but other than that, no. Just... no," Azumi said, shaking her head.
"Yeah, it's just... it's just way too wrong," Blake said.
"And that's coming from Blake, the smut fanatic," Emerald said.
"Would you guys just shut up, and give us a break?! I was trying to boost his confidence since he's still an incel!" Hera said.
"Incel?" Ruby asked.
"Short for involuntary ceilbate," Rebecca answered.
"What's that mean?" Oscar asked.
"A member of a group of people on the internet who are unable to attract partners romantically or sexually despite wanting them, and who express hate towards people whom they blame for this," Allen explained.
"So a virgin who can't get laid, and is jealous and resentful towards those that have gotten laid?" Mercury asked.
"Yeah, pretty much," Robert answered.
"Ha! Ha! Very funny, motherfuckers!" Basil sarcastically said.
"Look, we get that you're having trouble looking for someone to be with, but getting with your own sister doesn't help your case. If anything, it just makes it worse," Jaune said.
"Says the child of a couple that fucks and bred eight kids as a result. And seven of them are made for breeding," Basil retorted.
"Excuse me?!" Jaune asked, growing an angry expression on his face.
"Was that really necessary?" Jacob asked.
"And how is this relevant to your problems?" Yang asked.
"Everything! It's people like them! And people like you, that makes guys like us to not live a happy, normal life with a partner of our own! Elliot Roger had the right ideas, and is a good person to look up to!" Basil answered.
"Oh, so you see a narcissistic, racist, sexist, misogynistic retard with a god complex, who went on a rampage and killed six people as a hero? Let me tell you something kid, those actions alone are not the kind of thing that people look up to. Hell, his own father even stated that he wished his son was never born!" Jacket shouted.
"Not to mention his actions would later inspire other incels to do horrific actions. Take Alek Minassian for example, I looked up that he was an online friend of Elliot Roger. And he would later go on to kill ten people and injure sixteen more in the city of Toronto. These are not the actions of a hero, they are that of a villain!" Azumi added.
"It is people like you and them that see lowly of people like us! It's your fault! You did this! You all did this to us!" Basil yelled.
"Alright, that's enough children," Winter said.
"You all have work to do. So if you'll please follow us," Clover said.
I'll catch up with you later, Basil," Hera said.
As the seven teams and Qrow followed Winter, Penny, and the Ace Ops for their mission briefing, Basil was focused on one girl of the large group walking out, and that girl was Ruby. The entire group walks down the hall and Pyrrha starts to speak.
"Well… he was something," Pyrrha said.
"Pyrrha, he's just as crazy as Hera," Nora said.
"Now hold on a minute!" Hera said.
"No. No. She's got a point," Liberty cuts in.
"And no offense kid, but I'm starting to get convinced that he might try something that's gonna cause us all trouble," Qrow said to Hera.
"Mr. Kingsley is a troubling student. Even the General questions himself as to why he keeps him around," Winter said.
"And he somehow managed to convince three of the academy's students who have just about the same troubles of getting into a relationship, that he is in the right," Harriet said.
"That makes it even worse," Ronin said.
"Now starting to feel sorry for you guys that you have to put up with crap like that. Even Cinder wouldn't want people like them around to help her with her plans," Emerald said.
"If anything, she'd probably have them dead before their first assignment," Mercury added.
"Hey! My brother just wants to be loved is all he wanted!" Hera argued.
"His actions and attitude says otherwise, Hera," Rin said.
"And he's making it sound like that women are seen as nothing but objects," Britney added.
"Alright everyone, that's enough. You're all here to act as security, not talk about other people's relationship problems," Clover said.
"In a couple days you'll all be working almost non stop," Vine said.
"Each of you will be assigned to a location, whether it is to protect officials, protecting the people, looking out for any sign of Grimm activity, or acting as our eyes and ears," Penny said.
"Volumes 7 and 8 are not gonna happen this time," Ruby said.
"And we'll make sure of it," Blake said.
