Chapter 106: Bow and Jewel
Tanya had been in for a nasty surprise when she landed in the other world. But not quite as nasty as Blitz's. As soon as they had crossed the border between worlds Blitz's level had dropped like a rock, and so had her age as well. Which meant that Tanya dropped like a rock too. It had taken her a few minutes of continuously firing guns at the ground before she had avoided falling to her demise, with that said though she took in her situation around her. With the beating she just got from Fitoria she had grounded down her Level requirements for her sacred gear to the point she could actually put the big putty tat to good use. Moving on, the next objective would be to get Yuki's level back up to the point where she would actually be useful.
Tanya could simply just dump violence into some densely populated monster nest and then feed the left overs to Yuki, however she wanted to take advantage of the food bonus to raise up Yuki's stats even further, which meant finding a hero. While thinking about these things Yuki had taken the initiative. Transforming her weapon into the fire claws of the Kali she supplied wind magic to the fire and took off through the air like a rocket. Staring off into the distance a thought suddenly occurred to the jaw dropped Tanya.
"Right. You've been out grinding with your gear longer than I have." Face palming herself Tanya flew off to try and track down her ride.
A flying monster who specialises in the use of fire and lightning to attack that has been turned loose inside of a forest. Naturally there was a massacre. Tanya hadn't quite been able to figure out in what direction Blitz had went, by the looks of things she had used her fire and lightning attacks to carve several channels of destruction through the forest before she had been satisfied, now Tanya had been given the thankless task of trying to track the reckless monster down before she hurt anybody, well she hurt the forest, and chances are a lot of things in the forest. If luck was with Tanya Blitz would come and chase her down of her own accord in a few moments. A loud explosion echoed out nearby as Tanya just let out a sigh.
"You're not hard to track down Blitz." It wasn't a compliment. As Tanya was flying through the air she caught sight of the battle between two monsters, and in response smacked herself in her face.
One was a giant vulture-like monster, he was singing in multiple voices as poison attacks were dumped down on his opponent from above, triggering paralysis, acid rains and explosions in the process.
The one on the other side might be having a touch of difficulty on account of not being able to fly, a large lion like creature with the face of a long haired human woman and the tail of a scorpion behind her, a manticore if Tanya's knowledge wasn't misleading her.
Tanya may wonder about where these two monsters had come from and who had let them off of their leashes but she had two key pieces of evidence: first there was Maple's explanation that Filo had turned into a different species of monster when she was on this world, a humming fairy, the second was that both of these monsters were wielding familiar weapons, a pair of double ended hook bronze axes for the vulture and a set of fire and lightning claws for the Manticore.
"BLITZ! MIDORI! GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!" A few moments later two children were kneeling before Tanya in the Seiza position who was pacing back and forth in front of them. It would seem that without the benefit of slave seals tying them to various heroes this was the limit of what their bodies can mature to. "There is a literal end of the world crisis going on, and the moment you two lock eyes with one another you waste no time wasting time!" Tanya snapped as she turned her attention to Midori. "Tell me something green bean, have you found Katarina yet, or failing her one of the other heroes that came here with you?" Midori shook his head in the negative. Tanya let out a sigh as she zeroed in on the next part of this madness. "What happened with the Phoenix?"
Cue the story of the interlopers who attacked them, killed the Phoenixes, then wounded Kyurie and Atla leading to Kuro to take them here abusing the ride over for a chance to rebuild their bodies. When Midori woke up he was a chick again, but he was a chick with the power of a sacred gear and wielding a vassal weapon so he quickly levelled back up not unlike the case with Blitz whom Tanya is wondering just how many monsters she swallowed whole to reach this size. She's been gone for what an hour maybe two?
"We need to find civilization, and then track down our missing people." The two animal type heroes nodded their heads and transformed, Tanya climbing onto Blitz's back after she turned back into her manticore form and the three of them took off. Luckily their sense of smell was so good, so they were able to find a city pretty quickly: is what Tanya would like to say. "Did you two do this?" Tanya asked her two animal companions while looking at the ruins of a city. Both of the animals shook their heads rapidly in the negative. "Midori, circle around overhead, I want to know who or what is responsible for this immediately." Midori gave a salute with a wing and took to the air. Finding the source of the destruction was relatively easy, after all Midori ran into the familiar space warping barrier of a cursed weapon so that meant that there were little more than a dozen suspects on this world that could've been responsible. Letting out a sigh Tanya prepared to break in.
"Sitera destiny weapons at the ready." The three Heroes all produced near identical pink weapons in the form of a bow, a set of claws and an axe respectively. "And attack!" It took a few moments before the broke through to the other side. What they found though surprised Tanya a little bit. There was a bookshelf, an honest to Bow book shelf, that was lodged into the wall of a destroyed building. Picking up a book from it Tanya discovered a copy of Tom Sawyer, written in perfect Japanese. "What the hell is going on here?" If it was just one book Tanya wouldn't be so shocked, instead as she and her two animal companions continued to look around they discovered shelf after shelf of other literary works written in Japanese, almost none of them looked like they had any business in this world.
"Not enough." Slowly Tanya turned her attention to a Bluenette that had been sitting off to the side inside of a nest of books. "Not enough yet." Suddenly the library someone had dropped onto the town slowly disappeared, bleeding away into motes of pure magical energy, Tanya felt the fear crawling up her spine, finely honed danger instincts warning her about the entity before her. "There's still so many books left I want to read. Who did something like putting a stupid timer on a Balance Breaker!?" Slowly, realisation donned on Tanya who wanted to face palm in response.
"You used your Balance Breaker to make yourself a library? What's wrong with you!? Are you Sick in the Head or something!?" Tanya growled while fingering herself in the temple.
"You have something I need." The Dark Black of Sloth and the Crimson of Wrath appeared from the girl and wrapped around her body. Sloth and Wrath. If Tanya had to guess, the only thing this girl wants to do is lock herself in the library and read all day, and now she's pissed beyond all recognition that someone has taken her precious reading time away from her. The bad news was that she had two Cursed weapons to back up her rage, the good news was that she already used up her useless Balance Breaker, and even better Tanya still had a weapon out designed to neutralise her.
"Back off!" Tanya shouted holding up the Sitera Destiny bow. Already the two forces were clashing against each other, one working to suppress the other hero's power and one working to suppress Tanya. "What's going on!?" Tanya snapped as she found herself being pushed back.
'The Sitera Destiny Stone Bow has had a reduced effect on the Hero. Perhaps the Hero has a similar weapon of her own, or otherwise the power of the Sitera Weapons have reduced potency against heroes not native to the same world as it.'
"Now you tell me!" Snapping like that Tanya Switched over to wielding six of the Sitera Bows hoping that increasing the suppressing power might be able to give her an edge but it wasn't working. "Damnit!" Letting out a growl Tanya raised up all of her weapons into the air, switching out for bows of the five elements she made a shout. "Arrow Formation!" Six machine guns were fired off into a shape that only Tanya could see around the other hero that once completely let out a multi-coloured glow. "Dragon Arrow!" At once the pattern that Tanya had set up lit up, a multicoloured dragon emerging from the ground beneath the Jewel Hero, swallowing her in its jaws as it rose high into the sky.
"Jewel Formation!" As the Jewel Hero rose through the sky several jewels were deposited along the way like shining stars. "Super Nova!" At once each of the stars detonated releasing a pulsar of light that shattered Tanya's dragon. Even worse than that, now the Jewel Hero had the high ground to use against Tanya. Scattering more jewels around her, the Hero fired them off like a machine gun, simultaneously firing, charging, and splitting off the mass of energy to fire again releasing masses of fire at Tanya.
"Oh damnit!" Holding out her weapon Tanya used a wall of Cian's Earth element to absorb the incoming shots. However behind the wave of fire a second wave of plants had been released to strike at Tanya, piercing Tanya's barrier and striking her. "What gives?" Tanya pulled out a crude arrow from her leg while her automatic regen took care of the wound.
"The Bird of Paradise! Ever heard of it!" The Jewel Hero had decided to be courteous enough to explain to Tanya how here day was about to be ruined.
"What are you on about!?" Tanya's bow had brought up a list of materials that she had fed to it, by the looks of things they were on the section about the materials Maple had brought back when she went world skipping.
'The Bird of Paradise: Also known as the 'Phoenix Flower' The bird of paradise is a type of flight capable flower monster and one of the Four Directional Beasts of another world who, when it senses the death of it's current body, spits out a seed that rapidly grows into a new body for it to inhabit, although it is a plant the large amounts of methane that it produces allows it to spit fire.'
"A plant!? Your directional beast is a freaking flower!?" Tanya snapped as she looked up to the air and her face fell flat, unamused. "Oh f-" Tanya was cut off by a rain of fire attacks.
Myne just let out a sigh, another disappointment, if she wanted her library back then she would need to find people much stronger than this to fight her. Maybe she should try and track down Jade... Suddenly there was a change in the environment. Around Myne came several storms as two more figures made themselves known, a Humming Vulture and a Manticore. Normally not anything worth her consideration, but both of them were carrying weapons with them.
"What in the world?" Suddenly they went on the offensive, the vulture spewing clouds of poison both from it's beak and from it's axe weapon, in the mean time the Manticore had been dropped, it's fiery claws turned into rocket thrusters to keep her suspended in the air via brute force magic casting. "Wood and Fire elements?" Myne prepared more of her weapons to simply seize control over the power that the two weapon wielding animals were spitting out. "No the bird is using a water element for some reason." While muttering about that the sounds of several machine guns going off was fired into the air, Myne naturally countered the incoming projectiles with her mixed element attack and was surprised when the colliding projectiles turned into blades in mid air. Tanya floated up a few moments later, armed with six machine guns as she took aim at Myne. "Shape changing weapons." Myne looked between the three of them. "You two look like monsters so I doubt you were summoned." Myne stated as she observed Tanya then. "So that makes you a legendary Hero of the other world then?" Myne asked looking at Tanya, her eyes still slightly glazed over from the effects of the cursed series.
"Yes I am! Now cool your bloody tits or I swear I'll-"
"Oh that's good. That means that you should be able to grind up my Sacred Gear right?" Myne was already getting her green crystal with the faint outline of an origami bird of prey ready to go on the offensive again.
"Why are you so obsessed with a bleeding library!?" Tanya screamed, off all the things to unlock a Balance Breaker over, to unlock two cursed weapons over, this insane girl had to pick a freaking Library!?
"I live for books, to read, the smell of leather and paper! Who are you to mock another person's preferences!" Several more Jewels appeared. "I have 24 hours until I can go back into my library again! I'll have you accompany me until then!"
The two continued to Exchange Blows, Tanya's General of the West Sacred Gear, reflected with the Infinite Lost Works, against the dual elemental power of Myne's wood and fire jewels. Fire is strengthened by wood, is absorbed by Earth and weakens metal, however Tanya's earth element also strengthened metal which weakens wood. It could be said that Tanya held a slight advantage against Myne who was stubbornly attempting to grind up her own gear so that she could have her library back, eventually though Tanya quit.
"MIDORI!" At Tanya's command Midori released his own Balance Breaker.
The entire space was distorted as Myne was trapped inside of the warped dimensional space being hunted down by Midori who applied various paralytics to her in order to incapacitate her while Tanya came up with a suppressing formation with various arrows and Down played on a Bow-Harp Kuro made for her for extra measure. Thus Myne was paralysed and pinned spread eagle to a slab of wall while Tanya was breathing heavily, wondering how exactly someone who unlocked a Sloth weapon has this much stamina.
In the mean time the entire situation had been watched by a white haired woman who only shook her head. It figures that girl has to get her oh so precious library burnt down before she learns the value of taking grinding seriously, no matter.
After Myne finally deactivates the Cursed series they can work on redirecting her antics to a more productive end, there was already plenty of evidence of whom burnt down the Library, Setsuna made sure of that much.
"Midori, Blitz. Let's try and find civilization." A nearby building collapsing punctuated Tanya's sentence. "Again."
Trash rode away from the remains of the card country carrying Sakura while riding on the wave of his Earth Elemental. One of the men had agreed to give them directions towards civilisation in exchange for transportation and safety, unfortunately though the first city that they arrived at had been totalled, and the one after that, and the one after that.
"I find myself questioning what the heroes of this world are doing." Trash stated as they eventually arrived at a city that hadn't been completely destroyed.
"Wrecking cities is my bet, like that little missus there." Trash's navigator opted to answer his question as Trash could only let out a sigh in response.
"As per our agreement, this is where you get off." The Navigator found no room or will to disagree, he wanted away from this little monster as quickly as possible.
There was probably no convenient method of dismantling unwanted weapons in this world, a cursory look through Sakura's weapon by his own revealed that it was only barely conscious, so there was also no Virtue series suppressing the effects of the curse There was however various consciousnesses inside of it that were working to suppress the curse series though they hadn't been merged into the weapon spirit itself which is why they had probably failed. Trash needed to find Kuro if he wanted to help Sakura. Using his earth elemental Trash created some temporary resting chambers as he laid Sakura to bed, his hand passing over her chest he discovered something rather unusual.
'Weapon Copy Activated: Star Key Unlocked. Equip Bonus: Seal, Transform, Release.'
"What in the worlds?" Trash brought up his menu as he examined further. 'Seal: The power to Seal the Power away. Transform: The ability to transform power without a master into your own. Unleash: Release the power to act under your command.'
Switching over to the new Weapon Trash discovered a pink rod ending in a pink circle with a star spanning the middle of it and cute pink wings off to the sides.
"The power is useful but the appearance needs some work." Letting out a sigh like that Trash aimed the staff at Sakura, and more specifically her deck of cards. "Seal." A list of weapon transformations appeared in Trash's vision, not his staff weapons but rather the various transformations of the Legendary Playing card. He selected the Cards of Envy and Greed and had them both sealed off. Instantly Sakura looked a little lighter, like a heavy weight was taken off of her shoulders. It wasn't long before she had woke up, a little dazed from her round with the cursed series.
"Glad to see that you're awake." An unfamiliar grandpa that was cooking breakfast stated.
"Who're you?" Sakura asked looking concerned.
"I call myself Trash." The man in question held up his staff and had it change forms several times. "The Hero of the Cane from another world."
Sakura blinked stupidly.
"You call yourself Trash?" The Card Hero was confused.
"I'm like you in my own way, when I unlocked a cursed weapon I let it run wild, course when I did so I ended up killing my own sister in my rampage. I hope for your sake you have better luck than I did." Trash offered Sakura plate of fried eggs. "Breakfast?" The two sat down to eat, Trash giving an explanation of the circumstances that led him here and his new unlock courtesy of Sakura's staff that allowed him to seal away her cursed weapons. After that Sakura deployed several communication talismans.
"We'll make contact with the other Heroes of this World soon, the ones I'm allied with, hopefully we'll be able to find your missing people soon." It wasn't long until the first group arrived at the city. Tanya, along with Midori and Blitz, dragging along Myne who was still nailed spread eagle to the chunk of wall the manticore had been dragging.
"I wasn't expecting to see you or miss Blitz here Tanya." Which was especially distressing seeing as Tanya was his daughter adopted or not.
"Yeah. Decided to see what the hell was wrong with you people." Tanya stated bluntly while looking up at the sky, and seeing lightning zap another wave portal out of existence. "That Rishia doing that?" And after a short series explanation Trash was able to seal away another set of cursed weapons.
"There, you can release her now." Trash explained as he sat back down at their makeshift table. Tanya waved her hands and Myne was released.
"I hope you appreciate how much trouble you caused." Tanya muttered peeved beyond imagining. "There's at least one entire city that used to exist but now doesn't because of your antics." Tanya even has the book shelves someone used as a projectile weapon to prove it too.
"Did you think I destroyed the city just because I was under the Curse series influence?" Myne asked looking at Tanya incredulously. "Even I'm not that apathetic."
"Then what did happen?" Trash stated as he made sure the two de-aged heroes Tanya brought with her was fed.
"The Musical Instrument Hero was there." Suddenly the chop sticks Sakura was using snapped.
"As in Martha's boyfriend?" Was that the name of the woman Trash fed to Sakura? Well it didn't matter now he supposed.
"The same. That asshole burned down my library!" Myne snapped her fingers cracking in her hand.
"Get in line." Sakura stated in no uncertain terms.
"I don't see the other two Legendary Heroes of this world." Trash stated steering the conversation back on track. "Nor any of it's vassals."
"It could just be that they're busy." Sakura stated shrugging her shoulders.
"If they're 'busy' the same way you two have been then this world might be in trouble." Tanya snapped back severely displeased. "Agreed. Does anyone remember what Territory miss Maple said she aligned herself with while she was here?" Trash asked looking around at the group suspiciously.
"Sickle nation." Tanya stated bluntly. "Anyone have any luck getting into contact with Kuro and Katarina? Or for that matter Rat, Fohl, or the others?"
"No. If the others do remember what Maple said before then they will start to gravitate towards the Sickle nation." Trash stated as he cracked his neck.
"We should consider doing the same." The others nodded their heads and finished their meals. "If we can get to the Dragon Hour glass here we can use return dragon's vein to travel to Sickle Territory." Nodding their heads in agreement the various heroes stood up to leave. "Which reminds me." Tanya looked out the crude window Trash had carved into their makeshift hovel and saw the massive mob of people gathered outside of the building in question. "What do we do about them?"
The whole 'harbouring two heroes who unlocked cursed series weapons and destroyed a couple of towns while blindly grinding' thing kind of slipped her mind there for a while.
"I do not believe they are going to willingly just let us and more specifically these two off easily." Trash stated looking at the two heroes of this world. "At the same time, it doesn't exactly help our case to blindly charge through here killing everyone in sight." They are kind of the ones in the wrong here a little bit.
"No but if they're what I think they are then we can save ourselves some trouble." Saying that Tanya went into her H.U.D. and combined together her spirit magic with a radar skill to create a Reincarnated detecting radar. "The locals are aware of the Reincarnated and what they are right?"
A few short moments later and Tanya had finished her preparations and promptly executed them. As a start, the metamorphosis and spirit magic combination to give everyone in the crowd the ability to see reincarnated souls after a round of Arrow rain from Tanya, which was then followed up by a dose of soul eater skills to pluck the souls of the reincarnated out of their bodies, and thanks to the earlier magic combination everyone could see them.
"Did it amuse you?" Myne asked as she singled out a random reincarnated like he was the embodiment of all of her hatred. "Torching the Infinite Library? Wrecking the city when I came after you and your master?"
"What are you...?"
"Save it." Myne informed her scapegoat bluntly. "No one here is interested in anything you have to say." And then the poor bastard was sucked inside of the weapon and turned into SP. "Reincarnated are infesting the various cities of the world and are sabotaging them for the waves." Myne informed bluntly. "If this civilization has any hope of survival they must be found and eliminated at any cost." If a Reincarnated is applying their otherworldly knowledge and power to the down fall of the city, then it and it's people are doomed anyway, the only thing to do is to make sure that they can't break another city. "The Hero from the other world has bought us time from the waves." Myne indicated the sky where lightning had zapped another wave out of existence. That was the story they would tell. For now they needed to get into contact with the remaining two Legendary heroes Goll and Jade. And either bring to heel or kill the last of the reincarnated Vassal Heroes of this world, the Musical Instrument Hero.
Review Section:
RonaldM40196867: True. I think there's plenty of that to go around.
Galeon82: Closure is not an easy thing to come across.
Coolkid0806: Sakura's grief is a lot, for a lot of different reasons. But yes she needs to talk to someone when she gets back home. Desperado's are not known for their sound decision making skills, self restraint pretty much evaporated.
Az and Guest505: Yes I do plan on adding Video game weapons, what weapons I do add is classified under spoilers which I do not plan on mentioning here.
Nightshadegirl: There's few card Heroes more qualified than her.
