WARNING!!!

This chapter is rated "M" for an off screen suicide attempt. This will be the only time something like this is brought up.

Albus isn't shown in a perfect light, in this chapter, but I like the idea of him being like the Doctor. Being through so many wars, seeing so much violence, he needs someone else to be his conscience. Which he will have in this story. But he will occasionally step too far, in the name of the greater good, just as the Doctor does. But in their hearts, they are good men.

CHAPTER :

Hogwarts, 1975

Lucius sat on a bed, in the hospital wing. He was not badly injured, but the damage had been enough.

No, he wouldn't say he was happy with his situation, not in the least. In fact, he was seriously debating taking his own life. His father always spoke of the evil of werewolves. How they were mindless monsters... now...

Last night, young Severus asked Lucius to accompany the 5th year somewhere. He was planning to investigate what the Marauders were up to. As Head-Boy, Lucius could make an exception, for Severus being out of bed after curfew. They might even have been able to get the Gryffindors expelled, given this was an obvious trap.

Lucius was fully aware, of what monstrous bullies the Marauders were. So chose to trust Sev's plan. Lucius had long since sought to get the Marauders expelled... and with this being his final year... Sev would no longer have the protection of a well placed friend. This could have been their last chance to snap the bastards' wands.

They ended up finding the Marauders all right... in the company of a werewolf, of all things. The beast attacked... the Marauders tried to help... and woundup being bitten themselves... all, but James, suffered the bite... all because Sirius thought it be a fun "Prank".

Sirius Black was sitting on his own bed, sobbing his heart out. While insisting, to no one in particular, that it was just a joke... Lucius wasn't in the mood to forgive him.

Then their lay another student... dying in a bed. it seemed to matter little she was a Mud-Blood... she was as good as dead... because she shielded Severus and Lucius, from the worst of the attack... but, despite her efforts, both boys had still been bitten... even Sirius had been bitten... but the luckiest student to survive that attack, was the dying Mud-blood.

Making up his mind, Lucius picked up his wand, from the bedside table, and held it to his own throat.

Lord Akatash Malfoy... was horrified, his son was a werewolf. Worse yet, his son, upon learning he was a werewolf, had tried to take his own life... and Akatash could only blame himself.

His son, quite literally, would rather die then bring shame to the Malfoy name... and it was his fault.

Standing over the sleeping boy, Lord Malfoy could see the silver scar across his son's throat. His attempt would have succeeded... if not for the quick work of the Medi-Witch.

She was not lax in her duties... not even for Werewolves.

Akatash spotted Lord Potter, finally entering the hospital wing. And decided now was the time.

He followed the panicked man, who didn't notice, so focused on his boys, as a father should be.

Once they reached Sirius' bed, where both ward and son rested, and Lord Potter finished hugging his boys. Akatash spoke his intent to the man.

"You're ward ruined my son's life," Lord Malfoy attempted to sound casual, as if discussing the weather.

"Tash," Charlie spoke the man's childhood nickname... after all, that's how long they knew each other... they were friends. They, along with the current Headmaster, had been in the same year... back when Kids could be in different houses, and still be the best of friends. That was over a hundred and 40 years ago.

"My boy attempted to take his own life," Akatash continued, in his indifferent tone. "If he had succeeded... I would have been forced to file a blood feud against your boy."

Charlie gave a weak nod, "I... I didn't realize..." he trailed off.

"Since we are old friends, I want to be merciful... though I am finding such charity difficult."

"I could swear a Debt oath," Sirius begged. Bowing, on his literal hands and knees. "Please allow me to make up for-"

Akatash couldn't stop himself from raging. Interrupting the boy, Akatash glared. He snapped, not as a Lord, but as a father who nearly lost his son. "You could never 'make up' for this. Not if you lived a million years, in service to my family."

"I know..." Sirius whispered, still bowing. "But I beg of you, allow me to spend my life trying."

That eased Akatash temper... but not by much. At least the boy realized the severity of his debt. Looking at Charlie, to see of he'd allow this. After all... they were friends. He knew Akatash would never abuse such a role...

But if it wasn't for that Friendship, Lord Malfoy would be demanding Sirius be kissed by a Dementor. But even having his soul devoured, and digested over a thousand years, wouldn't satisfy the Father.

At Charlie's nod, Akatash accepted the boy's vow. Getting him to swear his allegiance to House Malfoy, to watch over it, and protect it, even from itself... that way the boy would actually be able to stop Lucius, if he tried to kill himself again.

The headmaster finally admitted the danger of allowing Werewolves near students. He suggested the children be home schooled, together, while they complete their OWLs.

However he promised that he would allow them back in Hogwarts, once they learn control... even promising to hire them a tutor, out of his own pocket.

"Why didn't you do this before!" Fenris Lupin demanded. "If you had some way of teaching our boy control, why did you let him suffer for years! You've known about him since he was 5!!!"

Dumbledore sighed, "I'm sorry, but the lycan art of self control, is restricted by the Ministry. Alone, not even I have the pull to get through the red tape. But together," Albus gave a meaningful look to Lord Potter and Lord Malfoy... his old schoolyard friends. The three old wizards, immediately had an understanding... and Charlie was having none of it.

"You mean you can't get a registered werewolf permission to attend Hogwarts," Charlie glared. "But registration is required to get the proper licenses, to learn control. But having a magically trained werewolf, in your pocket, was worth too much to pass up."

Fenris immediately tried to jump the old man, but his wife held him back. "You bastard!!! All these years I thought you were helping my son, but you just wanted to use him!"

"Unfortunately," Lord Malfoy sighed. "We will need Al's connections, to get the boys under control, and continue their magical education. It really will take all three of us. As we will need to change the laws, before getting the boys registered. Registration might not be mandatory, but it's a necessity to get the proper licences."

Charlie sighed, "You realize, getting them registered, will mean they can't inherit their wizengamot seats."

"Just another law we need to change," Lord Malfoy insisted. He'd have to cash in every favor, and blackmail material, but he would make the world safe for his son.
