Anyway, enjoy this little fun chap. Sadly, no update for Witch until the drawings are complete. I had this on hand, so I decided to post it to tie you guys over until it's back.
Enjoy!
About half a day passed since the crew returned from the Temple of Strength. And it was a bit…troublesome. When they arrived in Wartwood, Sasha and Grime needed a place to stay, and since Marcy was living in the fwagon, and Anne was taking up the only other living space in the house, the former toad captain and cheerleader had to find a different place to stay. Anne and Hop Pop went with them and eventually found them a place at Felicia's, who just so happened to have a room for rent.
Of course, that did not go over without a lot of assurances from Anne and Hop Pop that Grime and Sasha were not here to harm the town or up to anything nefarious, and she did have to do the same for the townsfolk who saw them as they arrived. All in all, it was a day filled with reassuring the town that Grime and Sasha were not here to kill them, enslave them, or out for revenge against the Plantars and Anne. The Thai teen debated if it was a good idea to tell them that Sasha was a Kamen Rider like herself, but in the end decided against it as the town was already on edge enough as it was. The last thing they needed was to know that Sasha had the same kind of powers as herself and Marcy.
So, with their lodgings secured, Anne bid Sasha and Grime goodbye until tomorrow. When she arrived home, she went downstairs to her room and plopped face first onto her bed, physically, and emotionally exhausted. Sprig had wanted to talk to Anne, but Hop Pop and Marcy told him that it was best to give Anne some space to think, and there was a lot to think about.
Anne was feeling conflicted, she was happy to have Sasha back, and even happier to hear that she did feel bad for how she treated them. And, oh, apparently, Sasha harbored romantic feelings for herself and Marcy. It was like the universe was throwing one curve ball after the other at her. First Marcy brings up the topic of being in a three-way relationship, and now Sasha appears, and she says she's always had feelings for them both.
"Ugh…how could I not notice that two of my best friends were gay for me…and for each other? Hell, why couldn't I tell I was gay for them?" Anne asked herself.
The Thai teen rolled onto her back and stared up at the ceiling, her heart was telling her one thing, but her mind was saying another. Her heart told her to open up to Sasha, to let her into her heart like she did with Macy. She was unsure of it all when she first got into a relationship with Marcy, but as they spent more time together as a couple, Anne was really starting to enjoy this feeling of being with Marcy like that. So, why not do the same with Sasha? This feeling could only be magnified with someone else she cared about, and who cared about her.
Then there was what her mind was telling her, that something like this could not, and would not be allowed when they eventually returned to Earth. Yes, here, in Amphibia, they could be like that if they wanted. But the way things were back home, there was no way any of their parents would allow Marcy, Sasha, or herself to be together in that way. If they did do such a thing, they would have to keep it a secret from their folks and their social circles until they were adults, but even then, they might not be able to. There were people who were out there who already looked at girl couples like they were the scum of the Earth, but if they found out that three girls where in a relationship together, there was no telling what this could do to their futures, or heck, what it would do to them in the near future.
"Sasha's popularity would plummet like a lead weight in the ocean…Marcy would be considered a freak…all three of us would become social pariahs, and, oh, let's not forget our parents. They'd probably either disown us or move us far away from each other," said Anne to no one.
There were some pros to this, but definitely a lot of cons. And in the best-case scenario, if they did manage to keep it secret, or by some great cosmic fluke, no one really cared and let them be, how would it work? Would Sasha be in charge of their relationship? Would Anne? Would Marcy? On top of that, how would dates work? Would they have a group date? Date individually? And if they wanted to get married, how would that work? Would She marry Marcy, and then Marcy marries Sasha, then marries her, then marry Sasha, who would then marry Marcy, and…
Anne's head was starting to spin, she was thinking way too far into the future for that. She needed to focus on the here and now. She needed to come to terms with the fact that she did, in fact, feel attracted to Sasha Waybright. And, despite getting on Marcy's case a little during their lake date when she brought the topic up, it was herself who was thinking about it seriously like it was a possibility.
"Ugh…stupid hot Sasha…"
Marcy retired to the fwagon, and when she did, the young genius threw off her armor and cape and plopped onto her bed with a big smile on her face. She could not believe it; this was beyond her wildest fantasies. Sasha not only had Rider powers like herself and Anne, but she was confirmed bisexual, and what's more, she had feelings for Anne and her. Many things have happened to her since she arrived in Amphibia, but out of all of them, even getting Rider powers, this information was probably the best thing to come of everything.
It had to be destiny, or cosmic fate, or something otherworldly. Her two childhood best friends liked her, were in love with her, and she was in love with both of them. And it seems as if Sasha was in love with Anne, too. However, the real possible chink in this was how Anne felt about Sasha.
Coming to terms with liking me as a girlfriend is one thing, but after what Anne told me what happened at Toad Tower, that's something that will definitely get in the way of a potential relationship with Sasha, and if not addressed beforehand, could end up destroying our love bond before it has had a chance to fully form.
Marcy's plan to remain in Amphibia and universe hop to endless adventures with her friends/lovers all hinged on if Anne could get past or even fully forgive Sasha for that incident, but while that was the most recent major incident, they have had some things in the past, and Marcy was there for most of them, and even got tangled up in them as well. She understood where Anne was coming from, truly she did, but she was willing to forgive Sasha wholeheartedly. Amphibia has changed her, and Anne, and although there was a chance that it could just make Sasha's tendencies worse, perhaps Toad Tower ended up being the humbling experience she needed to move past those bad tendencies?
I have to figure out a way to get Anne and Sasha to make up. But that shouldn't be too hard, I think? But if I can manage that, oh my Frog, it will be the best thing ever!
Marcy's mind was already imagining scenarios of the three of them. All three of them would pop over to Earth, inform their parents of their survival, and return to Amphibia to continue their battle with The Night. And during their battles, their bonds of love would grow stronger and deeper, to the point that when they eventually did defeat The Night and its Fallen minions, they would not want to go back home, and continue the adventure, and be together with each other.
She imagined dates in other universes, and in Amphibia. Popping back to Earth once in a while to have a few dates there, and then hopping back over. Bringing back some Earth tech to help usher Amphibia into a new age of technological advancement, heck, Marcy was a genius, she could lead the technological revolution in Amphibia and create things that Earth could only dream of. There were so many untapped resources in Amphibia, renewable too, she could easily help solve a lot of crises that plagued Earth with some of the things she learned here in Amphibia.
The Chinese teen would not admit it to her girlfriend and potential girlfriend, but she did often imagine what it would be like if the three of them ended up together. She even wrote out a little scenario, one that she made sure to hide behind a lot of dummy files and locked behind an encrypted password. It was a little, "shipfic" of the three of them living together, she imagined Sasha would be the "man of the house", she always exuded that kind of "take charge" energy, so she could see her keeping the house in order. Marcy would be the one in charge of their finances, and in charge of planning their dates. When you are going out with three people, you need a schedule so that no one feels left out. And Anne, well, this was where her fic diverged into a couple of scenarios, just because of how versatile Anne was.
Anne was really good at cooking thanks to working at her parents' restaurant. So, in one scenario she imagined Anne staying on and working at Thai Go and maybe expanding the business and making it more well-known and profitable. She could also see Anne as the wife who would cook their meals at home and do it with a bit of flare just to show off to her lovers.
Another scenario took advantage of Anne's natural athletic abilities. She was really good at tennis, so she imagined if Anne put more focus into that, she could become a famous tennis player, winning many local tournaments until she finally went into the professional ring and started getting noticed by big sponsors, maybe one day becoming as famous as Venus and Serena Williams, she did recall seeing a poster for one of the two sisters in Anne's room. Of course, in that scenario her career would probably take up a good bulk of the time they could all spend together, and if anyone did find out she had two girlfriends, it could cause a huge scandal and torpedo her career.
If Marcy was being honest with herself, she preferred the first scenario. At least with that one, the fame would not be as big as it would be if she as a professional tennis player, and people were less likely to notice that she was in a three-way relationship.
But Anne's changed a lot, my little fantasies and scenarios are only based on how I remember Anne and Sasha before we came to Amphibia. After everything that's happened, I really can't see Anne fitting into either of those roles. I imagined Sasha being the head of some corporate business or something that would allow her to use her ability to command respect and boss others around. But now, honestly, I could see Sasha joining the military, swiftly climbing the ranks, and becoming a colonel or a general. Or…heck…she could become President one day.
For some reason, that made Marcy shudder.
"Well, we managed to secure sufficient lodging for the time being, but we have to tread lightly here, Sasha," said Grime.
"I know, just let me take care of it," Sasha replied.
The human and toad were currently getting ready for bed, they too were exhausted from the entire temple ordeal and were looking to get some shuteye.
"I'm going to get them to trust me completely and totally in my own way, though. So, I need you to trust me."
Grime hummed and said, "I do, Sasha, you know I do. But I also know what plagues your mind. There's a lot riding on our successful entry into Newtopia, and if those two aren't completely convinced that you have changed, then all of this is for nothing."
"I got it, Grime, it'll be a piece of cake."
With that said, the toad and human turned in for the night. But Sasha was till wide awake. She was back in Wartwood for the second time. The first time she came to this town was to get Anne and help Grime kill Hop Pop so that they could take control of the valley and find a way back home. Things obviously did not go as planned, all because of that little frog family. If Grime had not captured and imprisoned her, maybe she could have found Anne a lot sooner, and the two of them could have…
Sasha sighed, knowing what she knew now about Amphibia, there was no way either of them were going to be able to get to Newtopia without some help from the locals. It's not that she was not confident in her strength, honestly, between her and Anne, they had the best chance of surviving. Sasha was impressed when Anne told her that for the first couple of weeks when they arrived in this world, she managed to survive on her own. Sasha had to admit, when Anne told her that, she found it hot to think about Anne roughing in the wild, being a survivalist hunter.
The blonde teen blushed as she rolled back and forth in her bed in embarrassment. If it was not for the Plantars being in that carriage with them, she might've just thrown caution to the wind and threw herself at Anne. But after reevaluating everything that's happened up until now, perhaps it was all necessary. Even with their abilities combined, Sasha was not sure that they'd be able to live in the wilds of this world for very long without getting killed by one of the various creatures that roamed the forests, or even just the townsfolk thinking they were monsters. Heck, Sasha was lucky the toads did not kill her on sight.
But given how big Amphibia was outside of Frog Valley, even if they managed to survive long enough for the mountain pass to open, they would have no idea where to go. They could just aimlessly wander the land of Amphibia for months before ever arriving at Newtopia and finding Marcy. And given how much she had changed, Sasha doubted that Marcy would fall back into her old role. She could see that in the way both of them fought as Riders, their fighting styles said it all to her.
The girls I knew back home are different now. Anne's so much stronger, and so is Marcy, she's definitely more confident than before. Okay, focus Waybright, Anne's definitely the lynchpin in this whole thing. I'm pretty sure Marcy's onboard for all three of us being together, but Anne's the one that needs convincing.
Still…I can't believe those two nerds are really together. Have been together since they met up in Newtopia.
Sasha hated to admit it, but she was kind of jealous. Those two were able to have a couple of dates, and even kissed each other numerous times. It frustrated Sasha that she never took the leap, never tried to confess to either one of them, she had a fifty-fifty chance of one of them saying yes to her. And since Marcy said she was confirmed lesbian, there was a higher chance she would say yes to her. But as messed up as it may sound, Sasha would more than likely try to wrangle Anne into their relationship.
Marcy might protest at first, but only a little. She would not outright come out and tell Anne to join them, oh no, it would be gradual. It might take some months, maybe a couple of years, but a few winks here, a few light touches there, a bit of "friendly" surprise groping here and there, and eventually Anne would melt in her hands and willingly want to be with her like Marcy.
Yeah, if ONLY I had the balls to act on my feelings back then…
That was a nice fantasy, but that's all it was. Should've, would've, could've. What mattered now was if she could still convince Anne, and if so, then whatever happened next would not be able to tear them apart. At least that's what she hoped.
It was morning of the following day, and Anne barely got any sleep. Her mind would not stop thinking about what was going to happen now that Sasha was around, and what it meant for her and Marcy's relationship going forward.
"Ugh…I need to clear my head, relax a bit." Anne narrowed her gaze as she thought. "There's only one thing that can."
Anne Boonchuy was about to play that song. The Thai teen picked up her phone and opened her music app, flipping through her various tracks as she searched for it. She had not played this song in a long time, not once since she entered Amphibia has something so monumental like what was happening between her, Marcy, and Sasha forced Anne to play this song. But it needed to be done, it had to be done. She stopped scrolling; she had found the song. It was time, and so she pressed play and set the phone on the shelf.
"Time for some Loggins."
Footloose, by Kenny Loggins
A sick drumbeat began to play first, and Anne got up, bopping her head to the beat, then guitars joined in, followed by a keytar.
Marcy was out in the fwagon getting ready to see Anne but paused as she started to hear a familiar tune, which made Marcy drop her cape.
"Oh no…it can't be…it's…Loggins!"
"Been working so hard
I'm punching my card
Eight hours, for what?
Oh, tell me what I got
I gotten this feeling
That time's just holding me down~!"
Anne began to shimmy to the music, forgetting all the anxieties that were plaguing her mind as she lost herself to the tune of Loggins. Spinning around and just cutting loose. Anne continued dancing all the way up to the stairs she pushed open the basement door, bursting out in a dramatic fashion as she began fast dancing in place.
"I'll hit the ceiling
Or else I'll tear up this town
Tonight I gotta cut loose, footloose
Kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise
Pull me up off my knees
Jack, get back
C'mon, before we crack
Lose your blues
Everybody cut footloose~!"
Polly and Sprig rushed down from the upstairs as soon as they heard the music blaring on top of the cellar door bursting open.
"What's going…on?" Sprig asked in confusion as he watched Anne dance.
Polly's tail began to wag back and forth as the song started to move her. "What is this song?! It's possessing me! I! Must! DANCE!"
The little pollywog hopped off the stairs and began spinning around in the living room floor, shaking back and forth, and dancing the best she could without any actual legs. It was not long before the song got to Sprig as his rear began to shake to the catchy 80's song, soon he shrugged and just went with it as he jumped off the stairs and began freestyling with Anne.
The front door was kicked open, making Sprig, Polly, and Anne turn around as they saw Marcy in the doorway, a suave smirk plastered on her face as she locked eyes with Anne, who shot her own look back at Marcy.
"You're playing so cool
Obeying every rule
Dig way down in your heart
You're burning, yearning for some~!"
Anne took Marcy's hand as the two began going into a little dance routine, twirling the other around as Marcy and Anne used a bit of their power to perform some acrobatic break-dancing feats in the house.
"Somebody to tell you
That life ain't passing you by
I'm trying to tell you
It will if you don't even try~!"
Polly bounced off the walls while Sprig assisted his little sister with getting a little more airtime while showing off his own moves. Before either realized it, Anne and Marcy got into a little dance battle with the brother and sister, both shooting each a little good natured competitive grin as they went into their own routines.
"You can fly if you'd only cut loose, footloose
Kick off your Sunday shoes
Ooh-wee, Marie
Shake it, shake it for me
Whoa, Milo
C'mon, c'mon let's go
Lose your blues
Everybody cut footloose~!"
Hop Pop broke into the room and started watching the kids dance, which was a bit unusual as Anne was normally the dancer of who would dance to her music in her room sometimes, but for some reason her dance broke out into the rest of the house, and somehow it wrangled in Marcy, Sprig, and Polly.
"Anne what the heck is goin' on here?" Hop Pop asked.
Either due to the music or the fact the kids were just losing themselves to the beat of the music, but none of them seemed to hear Hop Pop.
"Kids, what's happenin' here – huh?" Hop Pop noticed his rump began to shake to the song. "AAAH! It's a demonic siren song! Anne, your phone been possessed! Anne!"
Anne did not hear a word he was saying as she was lost in the music, and just enjoying the moment.
"Hang on! Ah'll get some help!"
Sasha decided to head to the Plantar farm alone, she wanted to give Anne a little more time, but she was too anxious to clear the air and hopefully see where things could go. However, Sasha was starting to hear something, a certain familiar song that if anyone asked her, she would deny liking, but secretly found the song infectiously catchy and hard not to dance to. But the moment she left Felicia's tea shop; she could definitely hear that song.
"…Loggins."
Sasha turned around and started hearing movement inside the tea shop. She opened the door back up and saw how Felicia seemed to be fighting the music, at least trying to anyway.
"What is this song?!" Felicia asked in a panic.
"Aw, c'mon Felli, dear, shake it!" Sylvia exclaimed as she jumped from the top of the stairs and began going into her own dance routine.
"Mother, please!"
"C'mon, Mom! Shake it!" Ivy shouted as she hopped off the walls and began dancing on the tables that weren't setup yet.
Felicia looked at her mother and daughter, and in the end, sighed, and relented as she let the magic of Loggins take her. And it wasn't long before the Sundew family was dancing together in the middle of the tea shop.
Sasha looked back outside and that's when she saw dance fever begin to overtake Wartwood.
Wally threw his accordion away, fell to the ground, and began doing the worm as he wiggled up and down. Only to catch the attention of a passing by bird, making the blue frog jump back to his feet and run away.
Stumpy was busy making something, but once the song was heard, he started to shake his body to the grove, and a few seconds later, he was dancing an Irish jig inside of his restaurant.
Maddie was not the kind of girl to just spontaneously dance, but there was something so bewitching about this strange song that it was like magic, a sinister magic that compelled you to dance. She liked it. So, she jumped outside and began doing a strange version of the "Thriller" dance, and she wasn't alone as Ginger, Rosemary, Lavender, and even their father came out to join her.
"Step aside, youngins! I'll show ya how to dance," said Mrs. Croaker as she got to the middle of town square and began busting out some old moves that made the other townsfolk back away to give her room.
However, the door to Loggle's wood shop was kicked open, and Loggle turned his gaze on the old frog woman. He yelled at the top of his lungs and jumped straight up into the air and landed with a flourish before Mrs. Croaker, showing off his own moves in a bid to outdo the old woman. After his breakdance display, he spin on his right heel and snapped his fingers towards Mrs. Croaker. The old woman narrowed her gaze back at Loggle and before anyone knew it, the frog and axolotl started a dance battle, both digging deep into their repertoire to come out on top.
Mayor Toadstool and Toadie came out of city hall, with the former exclaiming, "A'ight, simmer down now! Simmer down! What's gotten into you people?! And what – where's that music comin' from?"
"I-I don't know, Sir, but…I…I…!" Toadie's foot began to tap.
Toadstool looked at his foot and found himself unconsciously doing the same thing. "Wha-What the – Oh, frog dang it! Eh, whatever, can't beat 'em, join 'em." In the end Toadstool was dancing (like Linus) and Toadie joined him (dancing like Sally).
Sasha just stared in awe, and cringe as she watched the whole town catch dance fever from Loggins. "Dang…"
Grime came barreling out of the tea shop in a panic, when he saw Sasha, he rushed towards her and grabbed the human by the arms. "Sasha! Good! You haven't been taken by this siren song!"
Sasha blinked. "Wait, what?"
"It's obviously some sort of fiendish weapon of the musical variety! They're trying to make us submit to their whims by using this enchanted song!" Grime explained.
"Oh man, Grimesy, it's not a weapon, or a spell, or whatever else you're probably thinking. It's just a song, catchy as all get-out, but that's all. You're just getting into the groove," said Sasha.
"Lies!" Grime retorted.
Sasha rolled her eyes. "Look, I'm heading to see Anne, I'm sure she's the one playing that song. Just dance or whatever, and I'll be back later."
The blonde teen managed to break Grime's hold and headed off in the direction of the Plantar farm.
"Sasha! No! Lieutenant! Don't leave me here like this!" Grime looked down at his feet as the left one began to tap. "NO! YOU WILL NOT ENSARE ME!" The former captain of Toad Tower proceeded to run to the nearest boulder he could find and began smacking his face into it.
Sasha headed down the dirt road, following the sound of the music, and as she got closer to the Plantar farm, her suspicions were confirmed that it was coming from there, and more than likely, from Anne's phone.
Just then Sasha watched as Hop Pop came running out of the house, once he spotted her, the old frog ran straight to her.
"Sasha – Ah can't believe I'm askin' this – but Ah need yer help! A cursed song has possessed Anne, Marcy, Sprig, and Polly! We have to put a stop to it before it gets to the whole town!" Hop Pop exclaimed.
Sasha could not help but laugh when she heard what Hop Pop said. "You're a little late for that."
The blonde human threw a thumb over her shoulder. Hop Pop looked and even from here he could see the townspeople getting caught up in the song.
"We're doomed" Hop Pop exclaimed.
"Relax, old timer, it's not cursed. It's just catchy. It's Anne's favorite song to relax and dance to, so just let her have this. She's probably a bit stressed."
"Are ya sure it's not cursed?" Hop Pop asked.
"Not in the way you're probably thinking."
Sasha turned her attention back to the house as she watched Anne, Marcy, and the Plantar kids come dancing right out of the house, and now not confined they could dance more freely out in the open. Frobo, who was doing some chores, watched his family start to dance as question marks formed in his robotic eyes.
Polly rolled up to Frobo and said, "C'mon, Frobs! Shake it!"
Frobo listened closer to the music as his metal body reverberated with the song. The robotic amphibian began to smile as he did his own rendition of "the robot", dancing alongside the others.
"There ya go, Frobo! Shake that metal butt!"
Marcy used her powers to jump into the air, somersault while in midair, and then landed before Joe Sparrow with a flourish as she snapped her fingers and said, "C'mon, Joe Sparrow! Shake your tail feathers!" before jumping back to where Anne was.
Joe Sparrow cocked his head in Bessie's direction as she seemed to be shaking back in forth. Her eyes met Joe's, and the avian beast wiggled his brow at her as he flew over and began showing off his moves to the female snail. Bessie blushed again but joined him in the dancing.
Sasha shook her head as she chuckled at what she was seeing. She could feel the music begin to move her, but she fought against it. Not really feeling like she should join in given that part of why Anne was only dancing to this was because she was feeling stressed because of her arrival.
"cut footloose
(Oh-oh-oh-oh) cut footloose
(Oh-oh-oh-oh) cut footloose~!"
As Anne continued to dance, she spotted Sasha, and Sasha made eye contact with her. The blonde girl felt like she should leave, but Anne smirked as she used her super speed to dash over the fence and got right in front of Sasha, which surprised the blonde girl. Anne smirked right at her as she took Sasha's hand and began dancing with her, then spun her around as she turned into a mini tornado that took her right to where the others were.
Marcy, Sprig, and Polly kept bobbing to the song as they stared at Sasha, waiting to see what she was going to do. Sasha was blushing as she looked back at Anne, wondering if it really was okay to join in with them. However, Anne only continued to dance as her smirk grew, as if daring Sasha not to dance to this song. Well, Sasha Waybright was not one to back down from a challenge.
"we got to turn you around
(Second) you put your feet on the ground
(Third) now take a hold of your soul~!"
Sasha took off her shoulder pauldrons and cape and tossed them over to a clear spot far from the vegetables as it fell to the ground with a heavy thud. She then took off her metal boots and tossed them in the same area, which was also accompanied by two heavy thuds. Sasha began to snap her fingers to the beat as she tapped her toes, shooting Anne her own challenging smirk.
"I'm turning it loose, footloose
Kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise
Pull me up off my knees
Jack, get back
C'mon, before we crack
Lose your blues
Everybody cut footloose~!"
Anne and Sasha started to have a little dance battle between themselves, each one busting out their own unique moves. Anne decided to get a little more stylistic as her eyes glowed. She began moving faster than Sasha could keep up with, and whenever Anne struck a pose, she would release sparks of lightning to give it an extra bit of flare. Anne ended one of her routines with a final pose that released a small bolt of lightning into the air.
Sasha was not one to be outdone as she, too, tapped into her powers. Her eyes glowed magenta as burning embers started to form around her body, adding a flaming glow to her moves that accentuated her sharp kicks, hip thrusts, and waving of her arms. The added super strength gave each sudden stop a bit of a shockwave that shook the air and released flames in a short burst that died out a couple of seconds after being released. Despite her movements, Sasha was mindful of where her flames were going and made sure not to hit anything that was flammable, or Marcy and the Plantar kids – she'd never hear the end of it if she accidentally burned them.
Soon Anne began to take the challenge as the two girls got closer during their dance, releasing fire and lightning that made it like a light show was going off around them. Anne and Sasha's eyes were locked with each other, as if the rest of the world had faded away and there was only the two of them. Anne had not felt this way since the first time she slow danced with Marcy back in Newtopia, her heart was beating faster, and not just because of the dance session, that much she realized. Sasha was feeling the same things, her heart was racing, she could not take her eyes off of Anne's face, finding it cuter than she had before, her movements only made her more aware of Anne's features which kind of got Sasha hot under the collar a little, but even with that, she was having a fun time, just dancing with Anne.
However, there was one thing that both of the girls seemed to realize, something was missing. Sasha and Anne shot a half-lidded gaze at Marcy, who immediately blushed upon seeing the look they were giving her. The nerdy girl shook her head as if declining the invitation, but the two athletic girls in front of her would not take "no" for answer as they used their hands to beckon her to them.
Marcy was fighting a losing battle as she found herself dancing closer to her girlfriend and best friend, and before she knew it, she was dancing with them. Her eyes glowed green as she unconsciously summoned her emerald wind, adding to the elemental forces of lightning sparks and fire embers that were around Anne and Sasha.
"Footloose (footloose), footloose
Kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise
Pull me up off my knees
Jack, get back
C'mon, before we crack
Lose your blues~!"
There was just something about this whole thing that made Sprig, Polly, and Frobo just stop dancing and watch the three human girls. Despite their dancing styles being different, it looked so in sync, as if they had practiced this beforehand, but Sprig and Polly knew for a fact that was not the case, and yet, it was like they were always meant to be like this.
Everybody cut, everybody cut
Everybody cut, everybody cut
Everybody cut, everybody cut
(Everybody) everybody cut foot–!"
"BRAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"
Three human girls stopped dancing as their elements disappeared from the air. Anne turned around and watched in unadulterated horror as Hop Pop…freestyled. Sasha and Marcy could only watch in abject horror as they were subjected to Hop Pop's…unholy movements.
Frobo short circuited and fell over.
Sprig dug a hole and buried his head in it.
Bessie chirped in fear and hid in her shell.
Joe Sparrow squawked in with horror and immediately gabbed Bessie, taking the two of them straight to the barn and shutting the doors.
Microangelo was wondering what all the commotion was, until he saw Hop Pop dancing. That's when the little snail frothed at the mouth and fell over, his pupils replaced by two black "Xs".
Polly rolled up to Sasha, tugged at her pant leg, and asked, "Sasha, I need you to use your freaky fire magic to burn my eyes!"
"Get in line, kid, I'm first," Sasha replied as she ignited the tip of her left pointer finger, debating if it was worth it to blind herself if it meant never seeing this again, the internal argument was slowly gaining support for this action.
Marcy's brain looked like it was short circuiting, with her left eye twitching. She was probably the worst off as her near eidetic memory would never, ever allow her to forget this for the rest of her natural life.
Anne took a sharp inhale of air as she said, "Whelp, Hop Pop killed the music. Who wants breakfast?"
"ME!" Everybody, except Hop Pop, answered extremely quickly.
"Great, everyone inside!"
Despite the song having ended, it seemed Hop Pop could still hear it in his soul as he continued to freestyle outside for everyone to see. The passing by townsfolk all cried out in horror from seeing it, and then that's when the Constable Elliot Samson appeared.
"Hopadiah Plantar, y'all know that we passed an ordinance that forbids you from 'freestyle' dancin'. Givin' ya a warnin' right now, but if ya keep this up, yer headin' to the Shame Cage," said Constable Elliot.
Hop Pop stopped for a moment, looked at Constable Elliot, and the few townsfolk who formed an angry mob behind him.
"AH GOT DANCE FEVER!"
"Get 'em."
The kids heard the sounds of Hop Pop screaming and being chased by an angry mob outside, but really, it was Tuesday, so that was about right. Although, it did happen earlier in the day than any of them expected.
Sasha glanced towards the window and saw the old man running around the farm with the mob on his tail. "Uh, should we do something or…?"
"Eh, he'll be fine," said Polly.
"Okay, I'm feeling good! How about some choco-pede pancakes?!" Anne asked.
"YES!" Polly exclaimed.
"Oh, oh, yes please," said Sprig excitedly. "I didn't know you knew how to make them."
"I watched Hop Pop and I figured it out," Anne replied.
"Heh, that's our Anne, a wiz in the kitchen and a master tennis player," said Sasha.
Anne blushed a little. "I'm not a 'master' tennis player."
Sasha leaned back in her chair and said, "Don't sell yourself short, Boonchuy, you're a killer on the court."
Anne shook her head, trying not to let the compliments go to her head. "Alright, alright, let me work."
Sprig gave Sasha a suspicious glare, something that Sasha was not unaware of, but to make sure that she did not accidentally start anything, she kept her mouth shut and pretended she did not notice Sprig giving her the stink eye. Instead, she focused on Anne, watching as her friend worked the pan, pouring the batter in and sprinkling the choco-pedes into it, she could even hear her hum Loggins as she swayed her hips back and forth to the beat in her head. A dopey smile appeared on Sasha's face, there was just something about watching that girl cook that was very enticing.
Marcy noticed Sasha staring and scooted her chair closer to her as she asked, "Anne's really cute when she's cooking, isn't she?"
"Oh, heck yeah she is," said Sasha absentmindedly. Only to realize what she said a second later. "I-I-I mean – I –!"
"Anne, do you mind if I talk with Sasha a bit in the living room?" Marcy asked.
Anne looked over her shoulder and said, "Yeah, go ahead, it'll be a minute for these pancakes."
"Cool beans! C'mon, Sash!"
Before Sasha could protest, Marcy was already whisking her away to the living, away from the ears of the Plantar kids and Anne. Marcy sat Sasha on the couch, and the moment she did, the blonde teen went into a panic.
"Marcy, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to say that–!"
"Sasha, stop it. You already told us that you liked us," said Marcy.
"I know, but Anne's your girlfriend! Aren't you…I don't know…jealous, or angry that I was checking her out?" Sasha asked.
Marcy crossed her arms as she smirked. "And you think I wasn't?"
"Augh…" Sasha pressed her face into her hands as she groaned loudly. "I still don't know if telling you guys about how I feel was even the right decision. Now I'm just going to make things awkward between us…"
Marcy made a wavy motion with her hand. "Admittedly, it is a little awkward. But that's only because we don't know how the dynamic is yet. Tell me something, would you like it if we were all together, as girlfriends?"
Sasha had a quick internal debate on whether or not to answer that. She already admitted to her feelings for both of them, at most she was hoping to keep their friendship, but if she wanted to make sure that Marcy and Anne would stay by her side, she had to confess. "Yeah…I do…I know it's wrong, I know its selfish…but I don't want to choose between you two. I like you both, a lot. And, yeah, it'd be great if we could be together like that."
Marcy smiled softly as she rested her right hand on Sasha's left shoulder. "Well, if it's wrong and selfish, then, I'm guilty of those things, too."
The cheerleading captain glanced to her friend with surprise in her eyes. "Wait, you mean, you want us – like that?"
Marcy nodded. "Yeah, I never thought in my wildest dreams that you would feel that way towards us. Heck, I never imagined that Anne would reciprocate my feelings towards her, but she did. I was lucky, so lucky with her. But then, here you are, wanting the same thing I secretly wished for."
Sasha glanced towards the kitchen and asked, "Does that mean that Anne…?"
"Eh…I think she's at least open to the idea. But if I'm being honest, Sash, that's mostly dependent on you. I know what happened at Toad Tower," said Marcy.
Sasha gaze was downcast as she remembered, possibly, one of the most traumatic moments in her life. "Yeah…I guess you think I'm a monster for wanting to kill the old man and take away those kids' grandfather. Now that I look around, I don't see their parents anywhere."
"Sprig and Polly are orphans," said Marcy.
Sasha's eyes widened as she looked at Marcy. "Really?"
"Anne told me that Wartwood was attacked by a couple of giant herons."
Giant…Herons…? Wait, it can't be those herons that Grime and I beat back at Toad Tower, right? No way, that would be too much of a coincidence.
"Polly and Sprig's parents died in the attack, and Hop Pop is their only living relative in Wartwood who takes care of them, without him, this farm, this house, everything of their family would probably fade away to time," said Marcy.
Sasha looked around the living room, only now did she understand what killing Hop Pop would have done to them. In the back of her head, she reasoned that killing the old frog was not that big a deal, they were just frogs, and on top of that, she was sure that they had relatives or parents that could still look after them. But, to hear that if Hop Pop died, they'd be orphaned and probably lose everything here. It actually hurt to think about it.
"God, I'm such a bitch…" Sasha lamented as she pressed her right hand against her forehead. "I didn't know…I swear, if I did, I would've figured out a different way to go about that!"
"Sasha, I believe you. But I'm not the one you need to convince." Marcy glanced to the kitchen, watching Anne and Sprig cook together. "I know you're not a bad person, otherwise, you wouldn't have let go of Anne's hand to save her life."
"SPRIG!"
Marcy and Sasha turned their heads in the direction of the kitchen, Anne seemed a little annoyed at Sprig, but it looked as if she was calming down.
"Like I said before, Sasha, Anne's open to the idea, at least. But it's up to you how this goes," said Marcy. "Oh, and one more thing."
"Yeah?"
"If it comes down to choosing between you and Anne, I want you to know now, I'm choosing Anne." Marcy got up from the couch and stood before Sasha. "I've been in love with Anne since as far back as I can remember. Before I even knew the words to describe these feelings. And I've also developed feelings for you, pretty much on the day we first met. But Anne is my first love, so, if she says no to all three of us, then I'll respect her decision."
Sasha, surprisingly, smiled at Marcy as she stood up as well. "Honestly, I'm glad to hear that. You're sticking by the person you love, that's something I can respect, Mar-Mar. Also, I gotta say, I kinda like this more confident version of you. Getting a girlfriend helped you get tougher, huh?"
Marcy blushed as she rubbed the back of her head. "Well…when you have someone you care about that much…you want to be stronger so you can protect them. I don't want to be a burden on Anne, so, I'm trying to be stronger for her."
Sasha patted Marcy on her left shoulder as she said, "I'd lose all respect for you if you just suddenly ditched Anne like that. I'm glad to hear that, Marcy. C'mon, let's see if she's almost done."
(A couple of minutes earlier…)
Sprig watched as Sasha and Marcy left to go to the living, once they were gone, he joined Anne at the stove by her request.
"Hey, are you alright, Anne?" Sprig asked.
"Yeah, totally. Why?"
"Well…" Sprig motioned with his eyes towards the living room.
Anne followed his gaze and sighed before she went back to her task. "I know you're worried about me, Sprig. But I can handle this."
"I overheard what Sasha said, about her liking you and Marcy. What's that about?" Sprig asked.
"From what Sasha told us, she's always liked us that way, but was afraid of telling us how she felt. Kind of the same way that Marcy was about telling me she was in love with me."
"You're not really buying that, are you?"
"Even with this being Sasha, that's something she would never lie about. In my world, it's not that easy of a thing to just tell someone you've been close to your whole life that you're into the same gender. Sasha coming out like that was a big step for her, and Marcy and I owe it to her to accept that's who she is," Anne explained.
Sprig sighed. "Okay, I get it. But it's not like you like her like that, right. Right?"
Anne did not answer immediately.
"Anne, you seriously don't, do you?" Sprig asked again.
"It's complicated Sprig, okay."
"What's complicated about it! Sasha's evil! I haven't forgotten how you cried yourself to sleep every night after what happened at Toad Tower," said Sprig with an angry tone.
Polly looked at Anne as saw a small spark of lightning arced off her shoulder. "Sprig…"
"And I still haven't forgotten how Sasha talked to you, it was like she was literally sucking the fight out of you, bringing you down!"
"Uh, Sprigo, ya might want to stop," Polly warned as she saw more sparks.
"I'm sorry, Anne, but I can't allow you to be with her," said Sprig with some perceived notion of authority.
"SPRIG!" Anne shouted.
Sprig finally took notice of Anne as she looked down at him with glowing blue eyes and a tight grip on the pan. The pink frog gulped when he saw the look in his big sister's eyes but managed to stand his ground.
Anne calmed herself down, she knew everything Sprig was saying was because he cared about her. He was acting like a protective little brother, and really, Anne found it incredibly sweet. Once the glow faded from her eyes, she moved the pan away from the burner, dropped to one knee, and hugged Sprig.
"Sprig, I know you're looking out for me. I love you for that, you guys are like the siblings I never knew I wanted." Anne partially broke the hug so that she could look him in the eyes. "But this is something I have to work out. For better or worse, I want to trust Sasha. And, maybe, give it a try. I didn't bother to take a leap of faith like I did with Marcy, I wouldn't be this happy right now. And, I do have you to thank for helping that along."
Sprig blushed and smiled a little.
"So, will you trust me, Sprig? Trust me when I say I know what I'm doing?" Anne asked.
Sprig looked between his adopted big sister, to his biological little sister, and to the living room where Marcy and Sasha were. He was really reluctant to agree with Anne, but he did trust her, he trusted Anne with his life completely. So, it was only fair that he showed her that same kind of trust back.
"Okay, I'll trust you on this, Anne. I just…I just don't want you get hurt, again," he admitted.
Anne smiled and hugged her adopted little brother. "That's not something that I want either, but that's the risk you take when you let someone into your heart. They can make it fuller or break it into pieces." Anne glanced towards the living room.
We'll see which one happens.
After that, Anne finished the choco-pede pancakes just as Marcy and Sasha entered the kitchen. She set up everyone with a plate and made four stacks each for them. Once served, everyone began to dig in, munching on the chocolatey goodness of the pancakes.
"Hmm, dang, Anne, this is sooo good! I missed your cooking," said Sasha.
Anne blushed.
The Thai teen cleared her throat, gaining the attention of the others as she said, "So, I was thinking. Since we're all together again, and since we managed to charge the music box. I thought, maybe, we could celebrate it all? Have a dinner party?"
"Oh, Anne, that sounds great! What do you think, Sasha?" Marcy asked.
Sasha looked uneasy about the idea and asked, "Are you sure that's okay?"
"I'll have to run it by Hop Pop. Which reminds me, I should probably run into town later and see what's up with him. But once I've done all that, would you like to? You can even bring Grime with you."
"PPPFFFFFFTTT!" Polly spat.
"Oh, well, yeah, I'd like that."
"I figured it'd be a good opportunity, you know, to show how much you've changed since the last time," said Anne.
"Yeah…how much I've changed…"
The most crucial element of this whole endeavor was Hop Pop's blessing to have Sasha and Grime over for said dinner party, so, after they ate, Sasha went back to Felicia's to inform Grime, while Anne went to find out what happened to Hop Pop.
After talking to a few of the local frogs, she found out that they had locked him up in the Shame Cage. Anne headed over to where the cage was located, and when she did, she saw Hop Pop in the cage, suspended off the ground, while some passersby would stop and throw shame nuggets at him. Constable Elliot Samson was sitting on a stool not too far from the cage, strumming a guitar.
"No Ah won't back down. No Ah won't back down.
You can stand me up, at the gates of hell,
But Ah won't back down~"
"Hey, Constable Samson!" Anne called out. "Sorry to interrupt you."
Constable Samson lowered the guitar and looked up at Anne. "No trouble, Anne. And y'all can call me Elliot unless it this is somethin' official."
"Kinda, I was wondering, how long will Hop Pop be in the Shame Cage for?"
"SON OF A SLUG!"
"Well, the new ordinance says he ain't allowed to freestyle, and any violation is an automatic twenty-four hour stay in the cage," Elliot explained.
"MOTHER FROGGER!"
"Yeah, I'll need to talk to Mayor Toadstool about making that a law."
"Amen."
"YOU FLY FLICKER!"
"Anyway, you think you can let him out early. I need his help with something, nothing major, but it is important to me," said Anne.
Elliot glanced between Anne, and back to the Shame Cage where Hop Pop was still releasing slurs at the people who were throwing shame nuggets at him.
"SWAMP SUCKERS! AUGH!"
"Alright, but if does that again–"
"Got it."
Constable Elliot walked over to the cage and said, "Carl, let 'em down."
"'Kay."
The black hooded frog lowered the Shame Cage and let Hop Pop go. The elderly frog wiped off the shame nuggets from his face and grumbled under his breath as he walked over to Anne.
"You okay, Hop Pop?" Anne asked.
"Some people just can't appreciate when someone's expressin' themselves," he replied.
"Yeah…it is a shame…Anyway, I wanted to ask you something."
Anne and Hop Pop walked and talked as the Thai teen explained to Hop Pop why she wanted to have this dinner party. The elderly frog listened to her request, but he did have a worried expression on his face.
"You don't like the idea?" Anne asked.
"It's not that, Ah get why yer doin' it, but are you sure about it?"
"I think I am. If we're going to get past everything, we need to start somewhere, and I think a little get together would work out for everyone. But, if you don't think it's a good idea, then I'll come up with something else."
Hop Pop shook his head at her. "No, Ah think it's admirable what yer doin'. So, if we're gonna do this, we'll need to get a few things while we're in town."
"Thanks, Hop Pop."
