Arriving in Hoenn
A single-engine plane is flying over a land called Hoenn. Over the ocean, several seagull-like Pokemon (Wingull) are flying over it, while a whale-like Pokemon (Wailmer) is swimming under them. Inside the plane, the Kanker Sisters were sleeping in their seats. As they do, May was drooling on Lee's shoulder which ends up waking her. After she does, she sees what May was doing and gets mad.
"Hey!" shouted Lee as she punches May in the face, waking her up. "Stop drooling on me!"
"Don't punch me, Lee!" said May as she shoved Lee into Marie, who had a notebook with a pokeball symbol on it open on her face, waking her up in the process.
"Get off me, Lee!" said Marie as she pushes Lee. This goes on for a minute before they remembered what they were doing in the airplane.
"Quiet!" said Lee. "We don't want to get caught, do we?" Marie and May cover their mouths and wait to see if anyone heard them. A minute later with no one coming out to investigate the noise they were making, they relaxed a little.
"I think we're safe for now." said Marie. She then picks up the notebook off the floor after it fell off her face when Lee was shoved into her.
"What's with the notebook?" asked Lee.
"I grabbed it from my cutie's room before we left his house after we found out where our boyfriends are." replied Marie.
"Is there some of that weird science stuff in it?" asked Lee.
"Kind of." said Marie. "It has lots of stuff about Pokemon and training them in it."
"We'll keep it with us." said Lee. "We're gonna be in a Pokemon region, so it may come in handy." May looks out the window and sees the plane getting close to the ground.
"Hey, I think we're landing." said May. Lee and Marie look out the window to see they were indeed landing. Soon the plane lands on an airport runway. The plane stops and the pilot turns off the engine. A few minutes later, the pilot exits the plane and walks off somewhere to get something to eat. Once the Kankers saw he wasn't around, they quickly exit the plane.
"So what now, Lee?" says Marie.
"We go look for our boyfriends, that's what." said Lee. May was fidgeting a little bit.
"Lee, can I go to the bathroom first?" asked May. Lee and Marie suddenly realize that they had to go to the bathroom as well.
"I knew we should've done that before we got on the plane." said Marie.
"Let's just hurry and find one." said Lee as she and the others ran towards the airport, unaware that they were being watched by Professor Birch who was observing them from an SUV. Minutes later in the airport, the Kankers walk out of a restroom with relieved looks on their faces.
"Much better." said Marie. Soon the Kankers were leaving the airport through a front entrance.
"So what now?" asked May. Before anyone can answer, Professor Birch pulls up next to them in his SUV.
"May, Marie, and Lee Kanker?" said Professor Birch. The Kankers look at him.
"Who are you?" asked Lee.
"My name is Professor Birch. I'm here to bring you girls to my lab." replied Professor Birch.
"Why?" asked Marie. Lee pulls May and Marie close to her.
"This guy might know where our boyfriends are." Lee whispers.
"Oh, okay." said May. They turned towards the SUV. "I get front seat!" Marie grabs May and pulls her away.
"No, I get front seat!" yelled Marie. Lee jumps onto Marie, both ending up on the ground and they begin fighting. May jumps onto them and joins in on the fight. Professor Birch sweatdrops. May kicks Lee and Marie off her, away from the SUV and she jumps onto the front seat.
"Ha Ha." said May. Lee and Marie frown and climb onto the back seats of the SUV.
"I really hope this is a good idea." Professor Birch says to himself. After the Kankers buckle up, Professor Birch begins driving. During the ride, the Kankers see a pack of gray, canine-like Pokemon (Poochyena) running across a field. They also sees a couple of dark blue, bird-like Pokemon (Taillow) flying in the air. They see a butterfly-like Pokemon (Beautifly) hovering over flowers in a field. The Kankers couldn't help but smile at all the Pokemon. Professor Birch notices this and smiles, hoping the change of scenery will mellow the Kankers out. (a/n: He can only hope.) After minutes of driving, they arrived at a large building.
"Well, girls, this is my lab." said Professor Birch. The Kankers jump out of the SUV and run towards the lab with Professor Birch walking after them. The Kankers bursts through the door, surprising a green haired man with glasses, wearing a yellow shirt and gray pants under a lab coat.
"Who are you, girls?" asked the man.
"Can it, bozo, we're looking for our boyfriends!" replied Lee. Professor Birch walks into the lab.
"Girls, this is my assistant, Joshua." said Professor Birch. "Joshua, these are the three girls I told you about yesterday."
"Oh; Lee, May, and Marie Kanker?" asked the man now identified as Joshua.
"Okay, enough with the introductions; where are our boyfriends?!" asked Lee.
"I'm afraid you girls have been decieved." said Professor Birch. The girls look at him with confused looks. Professor Birch lets out a sigh. "Lied to."
"What do you mean?" asked Marie.
"The Eds are in a different Pokemon region, not this one." replied Professor Birch.
"WHAT?!" exclaimed the Kankers.
"You see, Edward's parents didn't want you three anywhere near their son and his friends, so they told you that they were here; and judging by your aggressive and harmful behaviors, I can understand why." said Professor Birch with a stern voice.
The Kankers turn towards the door.
"Come on, girls!" said Lee. The Kankers begin walking towards the door. Not wanting the Kankers to return to Peach Creek too quickly, most likely to cause trouble for Edd's parents, Professor Birch acts quickly.
"Wait, girls, don't you want to be Pokemon trainers like the Eds?" asked Professor Birch, stopping the Kankers.
"Pokemon trainers?" replied Lee.
"Yes. I'm certain you're aware that your boyfriends are Pokemon trainers and that they competed in the Lily of the Valley Conference in Sinnoh over a month ago." said Professor Birch.
"Yeah, so?" replied Lee.
"We originally wanted the Eds to compete in the Hoenn League, but they were already invited to compete in a different league in another region." said Professor Birch.
"What does that have to do with us?" asked Marie.
"Well, perhaps you three would like to become Pokemon trainers like the Eds and amass the same fame and fortune that they acquired after their Sinnoh adventure." said Professor Birch.
"Fame and fortune?!" replied the Kankers.
"I do remember back at the airport in a souvenir stand that I saw some t-shirts and posters with our boyfriends on them." said Lee.
"I wanted a t-shirt that had my big Ed on it." said May.
"I saw a Double-D plush that I wanted to have and cuddle, but I didn't have pokedollars to buy it with." said Marie with a sulk. (a/n: The Kankers were willing to steal the Eds quarters from the episodes 'Over your Ed' and 'Know it All Ed', yet they weren't willing to steal a few souvenirs?)
"And after watching our boyfriends at that Pokemon tournament thing, I did want to be a Pokemon trainer." said Lee.
"Yeah, that Pokemon stuff was cool." said Marie.
"Well now's your chance to become trainers." said Professor Birch. "And perhaps having a common interest will bring you and your boyfriends closer." (a/n: It took every ounce of willpower Professor Birch had to say that without doing an eyeroll.)
"But we don't have any Pokemon." said Lee.
"I can help you with that." said Professor Birch. "We intended to give the Eds new starter Pokemon when they arrived; but if you want, you can have them."
"Really?!" replied May. Professor Birch nods, then turns and whistles. Soon, three Pokemon come running into the room and up in front of Professor Birch.
"Wow!" said the Kankers. Professor Birch looks towards a small, orange, birdlike Pokemon with small wings.
"This is Torchic; a fire type Pokemon, like Eddy's Sinnoh starter Pokemon." said Professor Birch. He then looks towards a green, bipedal, reptilian Pokemon with a darker green, leaflike tail, and orange belly. "This is Treecko, a grass type like Ed's Sinnoh starter." He then look towards a blue, quadraped Pokemon with a big blue fin on its head, a light blue one for a tail, and orange spiky growths coming out of its cheeks. "And this is Mudkip, a water type like Double-D's Sinnoh starter."
"They're so cute!" said the Kankers.
"So who wants to pick first?" asked Professor Birch. The Kankers begin running towards the starters, shoving each other.
"I want to pick first!" said May.
"No, I want to pick first!" exclaimed Marie.
"No way, I'm picking first!" yelled Lee. They suddenly tripped and fell to the floor. Professor Birch massages his temples in response.
"I hope they don't hurt the Pokemon." Professor Birch thinks to himself. (a/n: Don't worry, everyone; no Pokemon will be harmed by the Kankers, except when they battle other trainers' Pokemon and wild Pokemon with theirs of course.) While May was lying on the floor, rubbing her head, she looks up to see Treecko looking down at her. May rises to her knees and looks at it.
"If my boyfriend's first Pokemon was a grass type, then I want my first Pokemon to be one, too." said May as she picks up Treecko. "I pick Treecko." Marie stands up and leans toward Mudkip.
"I want Mudkip, seeing how my cutie pie's first Pokemon was a water type too." said Marie.
"I wanted Torchic anyway." said Lee, looking at Torchic. "My man's first Pokemon was a fire type too." Professor Birch walks to the Kankers and holds out a red device to them.
"What's that?" asked Marie.
"This is a pokedex. This device gives information on all Pokemon in the world." said Professor Birch. "Here, let me show you how it works." Professor Birch points the pokedex at Treecko and pushes a button that resembles a pokeball on a lower corner of the pokedex and a side of it flips open, revealing a monitor which displayed an image of Treecko.
"Treecko, the Wood Gecko Pokemon. Treecko is cool, calm, and collected-it never panics under any situation. If a bigger foe were to glare at this Pokémon, it would glare right back without conceding an inch of ground." said the pokedex.
"Wow." replied May.
"And as I already explained, the pokedex gives information on the pokemon once it's captured." said Professor Birch. "May, your Treecko is female, she knows Pound, Leer, and Absorb. She has the Overgrow ability, which increases the power of her grass type attacks when her energy is low."
"I think I saw my Ed's Torterra having that ability." said May. Professor Birch holds the pokedex out to Marie.
"Here, Marie, you try using it." said Professor Birch. Marie takes the pokedex and points it at her Mudkip. The image of Treecko on the monitor is replaced with an image of Mudkip.
"Mudkip, the Mud Fish Pokemon. In water, Mudkip breathes using the gills on its cheeks. If it is faced with a tight situation in battle, this Pokémon will unleash its amazing power-it can crush rocks bigger than itself." said the pokedex.
"Wow." said Marie. "This says Mudkip's a girl, she knows Tackle, Growl, and Water Gun. She has the Torrent ability, which makes her water type attacks stronger when she's tired."
"Let me try it!" said Lee as she snatches the pokedex from Marie's hand and points it at her Torchic. Mudkip's image was replaced with an image of Torchic.
"Torchic, the Chick Pokemon. Torchic has a place inside its body where it keeps its flame. Give it a hug-it will be glowing with warmth. This Pokémon is covered all over by a fluffy coat of down." said the pokedex.
"Okay. This says my Torchic is a girl, she knows Scratch, Growl, and Ember. She has the Blaze ability which makes her fire type moves stronger." said Lee. She then puts the pokedex into her backpack. Professor Birch walks over to his desk and grabs fifteen pokeballs from one of the drawers.
"You'll need these to help catch more Pokemon for your future teams." said Professor Birch as he hands each Kanker sister five pokeballs. Joshua walks over and gives each Kanker sister a pokeball.
"Those are the pokeballs that Torchic, Mudkip, and Treecko were kept in." said Joshua.
"Do you know how to return Pokemon to their pokeballs?" asked Professor Birch.
"Yeah, I think I saw my man do it by holding out a pokeball like this." said Lee as she points the pokeball's button towards her Torchic. A red beam of light comes out of the pokeball's button and hits Torchic, converting her into red light, and sucking her inside. May and Marie do the same thing with their Pokemon as well.
"Whoa!" said Marie.
"Neat!" said May. Professor Birch hands them a map of the Hoenn Region.
"You'll need that to find your way around Hoenn." said Professor Birch.
"Thanks, I guess." said Lee as she takes the map and puts it in her backpack.
"If you want to get started on qualifying for the Hoenn League, you'll need to go to Oldale Town and register at the Pokemon Center there." said Professor Birch. "And one other thing..."
"Yeah?" replied Lee.
"I'm fully aware that you three are basically fugitives after breaking out of juvenile hall." said Professor Birch, making the Kankers nervous. "So I took the precaution of letting the police here know about you. If you cause any trouble for innocent people during your journey, it's back to Peach Creek, and then the Lemon Brook Juvenile Detention Center for you three, and probably in a stronger cell if there is one."
"All right! We'll stay out of trouble." said Lee. The Kankers then ran towards the front door to start their journey.
"I'm going first!" said May.
"No, I am!" said Marie as she shoves May.
"Ladies first!" said May.
"What does being a lady have to do with you?" asked Marie, resulting in May punching her in the face. Lee decides she's had enough and slams their heads together.
"Enough! I'm going first!" said Lee as she walks out the door, then May, and finally, Marie. Professor Birch shakes his head while pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I hope I don't regret giving THEM Pokemon." said Professor Birch.
