Sasha roamed the halls of the castle, anxious about what was to come. She could feel it, Anne and Marcy were out there and were no doubt about to start their counterattack. The toads had been put on high alert, expecting an imminent attack. Grime explained to Bufō and Beatrix that Yunan was responsible for freeing the prisoners, which wasn't a lie, as the information was accurate. And it did not come as much of a shock to them as Grime thought, Bufō and Beatrix had heard of Yunan, and she was a skilled and deadly warrior. It wasn't a surprise to hear that their soldiers were not able to subdue her right away. But they weren't worried, as they assumed Sasha's powers would be enough to defeat her friends if they showed up.
Easy for them to say…they don't care about them. They're just enemies to them. I'm the one who has to fight them! I'm the one who has to draw my sword against the girls I love! Loved?…GRRR! I DON'T KNOW ANYMORE!
Sasha was starting to wish she never felt this way, that maybe it was better if she had just buried her feelings for her friends, and never let them see the light of day. To let these feelings die in the dark while she went on pretending that she only cared about them as her best friends, without the hope of ever becoming more.
The blonde teenager kept walking down the hall until she stopped before a huge tapestry of King Andrias, hugging a bunch of newts, in a very paradise-like, sunshine and rainbows picturesque fashion. Sasha gagged at just how sugary sweet the thing looked, made her feel like she was about to get a cavity just from looking at it.
"Sasha." The teen turned in the direction of Grime's voice, who was walking towards her holding a box. "I got you something. Something I had made special for the day we took over Newtopia. I know it won't ease your suffering, but perhaps it'll provide you with some modicum of delight."
"Aww, Grimesy," Sasha gushed.
Sasha took the offered gift box, opened it, and pulled out a turquoise-colored heron sword to go with her pink sword.
"AWWW! How'd you know I wanted to dual wield?!"
"Well, I've just been watching you train, and well, I figured you've improved enough that you can manage two swords at once. Plus, I thought if you were going to dual wield, it should be with a matching sword," said Grime as he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly.
Sasha placed her new sword into its sheath and hugged Grime, surprising him. "Thanks, I love it!"
"Oh, well, you're welcome, Lieutenant."
After Sasha hugged Grime, her sad and frustrated expression returned. "You know, I thought this is what I wanted…and even without having Anne and Marcy at my side, you'd think I'd be happy with what we've accomplished. But I'm not, and I don't get it. Is Anne, right? Am I really a horrible person? I mean…have I always been a horrible person?"
"Sasha, calm down, you can't let her get into your head," said Grime.
"A little late for that now, huh, Grime?! She was already in my heart way before she was in my head! And now…now…AAAAUGGGHH!"
Sasha's eyes shined bright magenta as her right fist ignited with flames. She slammed that flame coated fist into the tapestry, hard, and the whole thing caught on fire. Within a matter of seconds, the tapestry burned, and when it did, Grime gasped.
"What?"
"Sasha…look…"
Sasha took a few steps back so she could see what Grime was seeing, and what she saw made her understood why he gasped. The tapestry was hiding a dark mural, upon it was painted the shadowy figure of King Andrias, hands over his head as the music box floated between them. Two pairs of lightning bolts made of three different colors were shooting out from the box and came down upon a pile of skulls and bones. The castle was at the center below the box, with something that looked similar to jets, while the surface below was set ablaze. A light was shot from the top of the castle to the music box, atop the music box were three clearly humanoid beings, each one colored exactly like one of the gemstones, holding hands, while the blue figure's head was flaring with blue light. And surrounding all of this were huge, thirteen eyes, as if showing that all of this was the will of a greater being.
"What…What am I looking right now…?" Grime asked in utter disbelief.
"Thirteen eyes…the symbol of The Night…the music box…those three people at the top of the box, those have to be me and the girls…I don't believe this…" Sasha ran her hand through her hair as it all came together. "Andrias…he's working with The Night! He's been working for The Night this whole damn time! He's been manipulating us from the very beginning! Manipulating Marcy and Anne!"
"And it seems whatever he and The Night are planning, it involved the music box. Wow, so, technically, we're the good guys in this scenario," said Grime, still in disbelief about this turn of events.
"GRIME THIS IS GREAT!" Sasha exclaimed.
"Uh, not sure learning the ruler of our land is in league with an entity of pure evil is a great thing, Sasha."
"Of course, it's not, but don't you get it?! We have to show this to the girls! To everyone! If Marcy and Anne learn that Andrias is evil and working with The Night, then everything will be alright! What I did was the right thing after all! I mean, I didn't do it initially for this reason, but as it turns out, it was actually the best thing that could ever happen for Amphibia!
As strange as it was to think about, Sasha was right. Although this rebellion was not started because Andrias was in league with The Night, it does now offer them some credibility. Now if anyone says they were doing this just for a power grab, they can show this and expose Andrias as the evil tyrant that he is and justify the rule of the toad regime.
"Okay, now I'm onboard with this," said Grime.
Just then, multiple explosions took place that caught their attention. Sasha and Grime gave each other a knowing look.
"You don't think…"
"Very possibly…"
"SIRS!" One of their toad soldiers ran up to them and saluted as he panted. "We have a situation! King Andrias has escaped from the dungeon!"
"WHAT, HOW?!" Sasha asked.
Olivia, Marcy, and Hop Pop made their way through the secret tunnels that Olivia had knowledge of. Thanks to them they were able to slip by many of the toad soldiers and return to the dungeon unseen. Before they made their way here, however, they made a stop to the theater department of the castle where Hop Pop changed out his clothes with a costume. Olivia had no idea why but decided not to ask for the time being. Once they arrived at the dungeon, they saw King Andrias, sitting in his extra-large cell, eyes closed as he either slept or was thinking of a way to escape himself.
"Why do you allow yourself to be held in this confinement?"
"You can easily slaughter these toads and reclaim your power."
"We are so close; the music box is within arm's reach."
Patience my lord. There are a lot of moving pieces in this game. One misstep and we risk showing our hand too early, and then the humans will take the music box and defend it with all they have. As opposed to it being in our grasp.
"We could just make more Fallen."
My lord, your power to create Fallen is growing weaker. The last three you made were powerful, but even then, they were no match for those girls in their upgraded forms. In order for your full power to be restored, we need the music box.
"And a host."
…Yes, and a host.
"Very well, we'll continue to follow your lead on this, son."
Thank you, Father.
The trio snuck by some of the guards and hid behind some crates, assessing the situation from their hiding spot as they tried to figure out the best way to free King Andrias.
"I could transform and take them all out, it'd be pretty easy," said Marcy.
"That would be good, but considering the battles that are to come, I'd rather you saved your power for those. We'll find another way to release the king," said Olivia.
"Well, like Anne said, time to fer me to put my actin' skills to use," said Hop Pop as he ran from behind their hiding spot.
"What?! No! Come back you old frog!"
Hop Pop ran in front of some guards, immediately catching their attention.
"Hey, what are you doing here?!" the guard exclaimed as she gave chase.
Hop Pop stopped running and fell to his knees as the spotlight hit him. Now was his time to shine as he rose to his feet and said, "Forsooth, I am an elderly frog who hath lost his pet spider, Charlie Big Bottom."
The toads looked at each other, and at the same time, Olivia facepalmed herself as she closed her eyes, preparing herself for the inevitable slaughter of the old frog, and formulating her speech to Anne about why Hopediah Plantar died.
"Oh Frog, that's never going to work."
Marcy tapped Olivia on the shoulder, and then pointed to the scene before her.
Somehow all the toads were now completely ensnared by Hop Pop's acting, bawling their eyes out as tears fell from their eyes and down their faces.
"Oh, Charles, without you, the world hath lost all color!" Hop Pop dramatically exclaimed before he fell over in mock death.
While they were preoccupied with Hop Pop's acting, Olivia and Marcy crept their way to Andrias' cell. Once there, Marcy mixed together a couple of potions and poured them over the lock of the cell, creating an acid that burned right through it and let the door swing wide open.
"Olivia, Marcy, great work," Andrias whispered. "Oh, Mr. Plantar is quite the thespian. Remind me to recommend him to the Newtopian Players Theatre Troupe."
"Will do, your majesty. I'm sure he'll enjoy that," said Olivia.
Marcy waved her hands, letting Hop Pop know that have the king. Once he saw the signal, Hop Pop sprang to his feet and took a bow.
"Thank y'all for enjoyin' my little performance! Have a good day, and Grime can eat slugs!"
Marcy threw some curse pouches around Hop Pop, creating vines that shot out and wrapped up the toads in the area. While they were busy fighting off the vines, Hop Pop ran to Marcy, Olivia, and King Andrias, where they all escaped through a tunnel.
"You've got to be kidding me…" Sasha groaned.
"You all got distracted, by an old man, putting on a SHOW!" Grime yelled.
"He was very good, Sirs," the soldier stated.
"Ugh, never mind! Alert the rest of the army! We need to get him back!" Grime ordered.
More explosions went off outside, making the toad solider wince.
"Uh, about that…"
(A few minutes earlier…)
Some toads were busy playing cards, with the city mostly under their control, there was not much to do until their commanders gave them their orders. However, their playtime was interrupted as Polly hopped into the middle of their game, brandishing a small knife, and pointing it at them.
"Get ready for the PAIN!" Polly threatened.
The toads looked at each other, and then laughed boisterously at her threat. But their laughter died the moment Frobo and Yunan dropped down beside her.
"Oh, cruuuuuddd…"
In less than a couple of minutes, Yunan, Frobo, and Polly were tearing through the toad forces one after the other. Frobo's arsenal of weapons made him a one frog army as he managed to destroy any formation that that the toads tried to create, while Yunan swiftly made short work of any of the ones that attempted to get close to him or Polly. And for the few that did get past her, Polly made sure that they regretted it. As embarrassing as it was, backup had to be called, a lot of backup.
Meanwhile, Anne and Sprig were swiftly making their way through the forces on the wall. Anne had managed to find a sword from the armory. She wished she had brought Tritonio's sword, it was stronger and more reliable, but she was just going to have to make do. Anne didn't bother transforming, instead she used her superspeed, lightning, and sword skills to outmatch the toads, parrying their strikes, or kicking them in the gut and sending them flying back the other way. For some who dared to try and outflank Anne, Sprig made them pay with a well-placed ball baring slingshot shot.
A few others tried to attack her, but Anne channeled her lightning into the blade of her sword and slashed upwards in a vertical arc, making a bolt of lightning whip forward and hit the incoming backup of the toads, shocking them, and paralyzing them on the spot. The linear design of the walkway made this much easier, as Anne only had to direct her lightning forward, and because of how bunched up they were, the lightning instantly jumped from one toad to the next thanks to their metal armor.
Sprig heard some troops coming up from the way they came, but he quickly loaded a boom-shroom he had saved and fired it at the entrance. The boom-shroom exploded, collapsing it, and cutting off anymore reinforcements from attacking them from behind. Now they only had to worry about the ones from the front.
Anne saw the opposite entrance and said, "Sprig, buy me thirty seconds!"
"You got it!"
Sprig began rapid firing ball bearings at the incoming toads, while Anne raised her sword towards the sky. Her eyes glowed bright azure as lightning arced around her right arm. The air started to smell of ozone, as a charge was being built up, and some of the toads were getting weary of what they were seeing. Sprig kept lobbing more and more of his ball bearings, forcing them back and keeping them from thinking of doing so.
Finally, a bolt of lightning shot down from the sky and struck the blade of her sword. However, it seemed as if the sword blade was holding the charge. Anne got into a thrusting position with her weapon and then shouted, "IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE FRIED, JUMP! SPRIG, GET BEHIND ME, NOW!"
"GOT IT!" Sprig replied as he hopped backwards and landed behind Anne.
The toads screamed in fear and immediately jumped off the side of wall, some even jumping on the opposite side. Some managed to use their weapons to dig into the wall and slow their descent, while others used their tongues to latch onto parts of the buildings and swing themselves to safety. Now with a clear line of sight, Anne thrust her sword forward, firing the stored bolt of lightning as thunder roared upon its release, striking the opposite entrance to the wall, and blowing it up. Anne panted a little, but she was fine, her sword, however, not so much. The blade managed to withstand the lightning, but once the charge left it, it turned into molten slag and sloshed off the hilt.
Anne chucked the hilt over her shoulder and picked up one of the paralyzed soldiers' swords and sheathed it. "Nice teamwork, buddy."
"SprAnne against the world!" Sprig shouted.
"Yeah, SprAnne against the world!"
The two friends ran towards the middle of the wall where the gate control was. Now that they had secured it, the next phase of their plan should be happening any minute now. From their perch atop the wall, Anne watched as hordes of toad soldiers started to swarm towards the gate, chasing after Yunan, Frobo, and Polly.
"Wow, they really ticked them off," said Sprig.
"Okay, remember, hold this spot as long as you can. But if it gets too intense bail out. It's not worth your life," said Anne.
"Don't worry, it won't come to that."
Anne nodded and motioned for Sprig to move back some. Once he had, Anne summoned the MetamorphRing TRI. This was no time to use her other forms, she needed maximum power to get these toads out of the city, and for when Sasha arrived, she didn't plan on taking it easy on her.
"Henshin!"
The Thai teen pressed on both hip devices, encasing herself in a dome of lightning. A bright light shined from the center of that dome, and when it burst apart, the figure within jumped straight up into the sky and down to the streets below.
Frobo, Yunan, and Polly stopped at the entrance of the gates, surrounded on their right, left, and front with toads, and the open gates behind them. But that's when a pillar of lightning shot down from above, landing right in front of them and causing the toad army to back up in shock. When the pillar dissipated, it showed none other than Kamen Rider Amp Raging Heart: Vengeance Mode.
"You toads only have two options. Option 1: You leave on your own. Option 2: I make you leave. Trust me, you don't want to choose option two. So, what's it going to be?" Amp asked as she crossed her arms and waited for their response.
The toads looked anxious, they had never seen a warrior like this before, she looked like a warrior who had been called down from the heavens to pass judgement on their actions. I mean, she did just appear out of a pillar of lightning for Frog's sake. That's when one of the soldiers, either out of his mind with fear, or showing that he wasn't afraid of her, chucked his spear right at Amp. The spear flew through the air and hit her helmet, but it fell to the ground, not even denting it.
"Okay, so, you choose option two."
Every soldier looked at the toad who threw the spear and gave them a glaring look of scorn. But before they could attempt to accost that toad, Amp got into a runner's stance and dashed straight down the line, barreling through several toads at once as she sent them flying in different directions before stopping on the other side. A long clear path was cut through the army, with several of the toads looking flabbergasted at how easily Amp was able to pierce through their ranks.
"And I'm not even getting serious, yet!"
The toads tried to regroup into a defensive formation, but Amp made sure to show them how useless that was as she dashed through their formations, kicking some, punching others, and zapping a few as she continued to dismantle their numbers. As she did this, Amp made sure to either toss, kick, blast, or punch them in the direction of the gates, effectively forcing them out as she promised. Some of the toads tried to escape different ways, but Amp released lightning bolts from the sky that cut off their escape.
Yunan, Polly, and Frobo assisted her by holding one area, making sure that the toads understood that there was only one way to escape the pain, and it was through those gates. They eventually got the hint as they started to run out of the city. Some of the guards foolishly called for backup, only bringing more of their numbers to the gate for Amp to clear out.
Explosions and thunder kept roaring as the soldier finished his report on what was going on outside up until now.
Sasha and Grime ran to the nearest window and watched the mayhem that was Amp's rampage on their forces.
"Sasha, this is bad! If that mural is true, then your friends are helping the enemy!" Grime stated.
Sasha gritted her teeth as she said, "Then we'll have to tell them directly."
"You are aware of how they feel about you. The conversation may not go–"
"I KNOW! OKAY, I KNOW! But…But I have to try! I have to try and get through to Anne and Marcy, they have to know that Andrias is working with The Night, and that he'll destroy everything if we let him retake control!" Sasha stated. "Please, Grime, I need your help!"
Grime whipped out Barrel's Warhammer and said, "You know I'm with you 'til the end, Lieutenant."
Sasha smiled at Grime before stepping back and summoning her MetamorphRing TRI. "Henshin."
A dome of flames obscured Sasha from view as a bright magenta light shined from the center. A burst of flaming embers swirled around as the dome collapsed and revealed Kamen Rider Bellona Invictus: Gladiator Mode. The flame Rider used the enhanced vision of her helmet to peer into the distance and saw that Sprig was on top of the gate, ready to close it.
"Grime, you need to take care of the gate, while I take care of Anne. They're trying to throw our army out and then shut the door in their faces. If I can overpower Anne and Marcy, make them too exhausted to keep fighting, then they'll revert to their normal forms and the army can come back in," said Bellona.
"Sounds like a plan, Lieutenant," said Grime.
The former toad captain backed up a bit and ran before jumping straight out of the window and onto the wall that was closest to the gate control. With Grime clear, Bellona pointed her right hand at the window and shot a powerful blast of flames that exploded against it, destroying that part of the wall, and allowing the flame Rider to jump out of it. She concentrated her flames to the soles of her feet as the wing frills glowed, granting her stabilized flight as she zoomed through the air and headed right for where the fighting was taking place.
Bellona's flight was short as she came down with a powerful landing against the ground, stopping the fighting and making all eyes turn to her, especially Amp's. The remaining toads all yelled in fear, believing that another one had come to aid Amp, which only made them lay down their weapons and run out of the city. But Bellona did not care about that, right now, the only thing that mattered was convincing Amp that they were not enemies.
"Sasha!" Amp got into a fighting stance as she prepared to do battle with Bellona.
"Whoa, Anne, hold up! I'm not here to fight!" Bellona insisted as she raised her hands in a classic surrender.
"Tch, you expect me to believe that? Considering you're standing right in front of me, in Super Form no less!"
"I understand, I do. I…I hurt you, Anne."
"Ho-ho, that's the biggest freakin' understatement of the century, Waybright! You broke my heart! I trusted you! I loved you!"
"I know…Anne, God, I' m sorry. I never meant to hurt you, or Marcy. That was never my intention!" Bellona pleaded.
"Oh yeah, the dating, the Battle of the Bands, you saying you're in love with us. That was all just your way of controlling us again, right?! Just some new twisted, effed up way of keeping us under your thumb!" Amp accused.
"NO!" Bellona released flames from her body in a short burst as her energy cape flapped in the generated power. "I DO LOVE YOU AND MARCY! I'VE BEEN IN LOVE WITH YOU FOR YEARS! I WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO YOU! I LOVE YOU AND MARCY!"
"AND YET YOU BETRAYED US! YOU USED US! YOU DON'T DO THAT TO THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE, SASHA!" Amp retorted as lighting crackled off her body.
Both girls were huffing and panting as their emotions were running high, and it didn't help that their Super Forms' powers were influencing those emotions. But Bellona managed to calm herself down a little.
"I know, and you're right. You don't do that to the people you love, and I'm so sorry, Anne. But, while this rebellion was not done for the right reasons, I just found out that it was actually a good thing that I did it!" Bellona explained.
"…Excuse me?"
"Anne, listen to me. Andrias is working with The Night! Grime and I found this freaky mural in the castle that shows he's been manipulating you and Marcy from beginning! The Fallen, your quest for the temples, everything! Come with me back to the castle and I'll show you–!"
A crackle of lightning and roar of thunder was all Sasha heard before she was punched right in the face and sent flying several yards away before smashing against the side of a building. Amp appeared a few feet away, her eyes and glowing bright as lightning arced off her body.
"You really expect me to believe that? That the king has been working with The Night? How stupid do you think I am?! Heh, you know what, you probably think I'm real stupid, considering I fell for your whole love confession BS!" Amp shouted.
Bellona tore herself out of the building and landed on her feet as she retorted, "It's not a lie! Anne! None of it! I do love you two! And Andrias is the real bad guy here! Just come with me, I'll show you the truth!"
"ENOUGH!" Amp placed her right hand against the crystal filament of her MetamorphRing TRI. A single strand of lightning formed in her grasp as she pulled it out, and materialized the lightning into her sword, Saipha. "I'm through listening to your lies! I'm sick of being used by you! And I'm just overall done with you! Me, my friends, and Marcy are going to put an end to this rebellion once and for all!"
Bellona sighed heavily as she too pressed her right hand against her Driver's crystal filament, and from it she materialized her dual bladed sword, Hyperion. "I can't let you do that, Anne. For the sake of everyone, for yours and Marcy's sake, I can't let you stop us. If you won't listen to me, then I'll beat you down until you're ready to sit down and listen!"
Amp gripped Saipha with both hands as she widened her stance. "Oh yeah? I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY!"
Bellona and Amp rant towards each other, swords raised high as they brought their blades down crashing against each other as lightning and fire erupted from their impact. The battle for Newtopia had officially begun.
Olivia led their group through the underground tunnels, it was quite the labyrinth, but eventually, they managed to arrive at an isolated area. Marcy peeked through the grate, checking to see if there were any toads in the area. From what she could see, there were none, and the sounds of explosions and fighting was far in the distance.
"Okay, all clear," said Marcy as she pushed the grate off and hopped out first, pointing her crossbow and ready to fire.
Afterwards, Hop Pop followed, along with Olivia, and lastly King Andrias.
"Excellent work, Olivia, and you, too, Marcy and Mr. Plantar," said King Andrias.
"Not a problem yer majesty, but we're still not outta the woods just yet."
Marcy nodded. "Hop Pop's right. Once we get you somewhere safe, I'm going to help Anne in forcing out the rest of the toads out of the city."
"Well, well, looky what we got here."
The group turned their heads towards the voice, and from their left appeared Beatrix and some of her toad forces.
"We heard of your escape and have been searching for you."
To their right appeared another toad captain, Bufō, along with his forces.
The group was now surrounded on both sides, making Andrias right hand twitchy, as if readying to grasp the sword he had hidden in his armor.
"Well, this is actually okay. Saves me the trouble of trying to find you all," said Marcy.
A gust of emerald wind wrapped around Marcy's waist and transformed into the MetamorphRing TRI. She thought about using the other forms, but her Super Form would grant her greater power to overwhelm and push out the toads without hurting them too much. Once it was on, Marcy went into her transformation stance.
"Henshin!"
A dome of emerald wind formed around the young genius as a bright green light shined from the center. The wind dome released, creating a mini tornado around them for a few seconds, and now they could behold the splendor of Kamen Rider Ranger Ahura Mazda: Archer Mode. Ranger's energy hood and cloak flapped in the wind as her visor glowed, staring down the two toad commanders.
"You don't have a chance against me, so leave the city now while you still can!" Ranger ordered.
Bufō and Beatrix glanced at each other, they had heard that the other two humuses had the same kind of power as Sasha, but they were not expecting this. However, Sasha was a warrior, and from what they saw of Marcy, she did not look like much of one.
"I have been itchin' to see if I can take one of you on," said Beatrix.
Bufō drew his katana and got into a ready stance, "I'd have to agree. Let's see just how powerful one of you really is."
Ranger sighed in disappointment as she reached behind her back and pulled out Wind Dancer with her left hand. "Okay, but don't say I didn't at least give you a chance to leave peacefully."
Just then a heavy explosion coupled with great bellowing thunder caught everyone's attention, and that's when they saw the two pillars of fire and lightning erupting close to where the gates were.
Anne…Sasha…
Bellona and Amp were clashing in the middle of the city, their swords striking and ringing out through the air, like the bells of a hellish warzone. Bellona spun Hyperion around, kicking up flames around her as she defended herself from Amp's aggressive attacks. While Amp was calling down the lightning, coating Saipha, along with her forearm and leg blades as she would repeatedly disengage and reengage from different angles, appearing like a bolt of lightning for a split second before looking like herself.
What was strange about this was the fact that Bellona was not the aggressor in this fight, she was taking a defensive stance. Amp was the one who was aggressively trying to break through her defenses. The hero of lightning skidded to a stop on the ground as she readied to go again, fixing her gaze on Bellona as she flew through the air, gliding over the ground as she gripped Saipha with both hands and brought it down in an overhead strike. Bellona blocked the attack as fire and lightning raged around them, blasting through the buildings, or melting the ground, or setting stands and shops on fire.
"Anne, please, listen to me!" Bellona begged.
"I'm through listening to you, Sasha! No more! I don't want to hear your excuses, your lies, any of it!"
Amp broke off the clash as she spun in midair and came down with a roundhouse kick. Bellona stepped back just as Amp's kick landed, striking the ground with resounding force as a crater formed under them. The flame Rider's wing frills on her boots glowed as flames shot out from her feet, allowing her to float in the air as she backed away from Amp. The hero of lightning saw Bellona retreating, and so she pointed her left hand in Bellona's direction, channeling her electrical power and firing a lightning bolt right for her.
Bellona saw the attack coming and pointed her right hand in the same direction, releasing a blast of roaring flames that was on an interception course. The two elemental attacks met in the center and exploded mightily, shaking the air around them and creating a thick cloud of smoke between them. Bellona cut off the flame jets on her feet and skidded to a halt as she reentered her defensive stance, knowing that Amp was not about to stop her attack.
She was right as Amp blasted through the smoke cloud, punching a hole right through it due to how fast she was moving. Bellona ignited the soles of her feet and rocketed into the sky just before Amp could land her sword swing. Amp spun around a little due to the last-minute dodge, but she regained her balance quickly and used her lightning to shoot straight up into the sky after Bellona.
"I'M NOT LYING TO YOU, ANNE! I KNOW IT'S HARD TO TRUST ME, AND YOU'RE RIGHT TO FEEL THAT WAY! BUT JUST THIS ONE TIME, I'M BEGGING YOU, TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT ANDRIAS IS EVIL!" Bellona yelled as she dodged multiple lightning blasts from Amp.
"OH, YOU'D LOVE THAT, RIGHT?! YOU'D LOVE FOR DUMB OL' ANNE TO JUST BELIEVE WHATEVER SASHA WAYBRIGHT SAYS, BECAUSE SASHA WAYBRIGHT'S ALWAYS RIGHT, AND BE DAMNED ANYONE ELSE'S OPINION!"
Bellona hated to say it, but she was starting to get a little ticked off by Amp's constant denial. At the same time, it's not as if she can really blame Amp for feeling the way she did. Amp was hurt, because of her, because of how she used Amp to get into the city and usurp the king. But if she could just get through to her, Amp would see that it was actually a good thing that Bellona took over.
The flame Rider spun Hyperion around in the air as a ring of flames formed around the edges. With a swift slash of her dual sword, she sent it flying right for Amp. The Rider of lightning shot several lightning bolts at it, but the flame wheel deflected each attack just as it approached and hit her, exploding upon contact. Amp was thrown back from the attack and disoriented a bit. However, that's when Bellona managed to get behind her, locking Amp's arms up under her pits.
"AURGH! Let me go, Sasha!" Amp ordered.
"NO! You need to calm the hell down and listen to me, Anne! You can hate me, beat me up, you can do all of that and I won't stop you, but you need to see what I found before it's too late for all of us," said Bellona.
Amp was feeling insulted with each word that Bellona spoke, she kept trying to feed her that lie again and again. Did Bellona really think she was that stupid that if it were said enough times that she would just give up and listen to her? That was the old her, not anymore, she would not be made the fool of, not again. Amp lurched her head forward and then slammed back into Bellona's helmet as hard as she could. The blow was felt through the helmet, but it wasn't enough for Bellona to let go. However, it was just a distraction as Amp's energy scarf snaked behind Bellona and wrapped itself around her neck and coiled like a snake.
Bellona felt the pressure around her neck and was swiftly yanked off Amp. The hero of lightning spun in place, twirling Bellona along with her before releasing the flame Rider, throwing her outside of the city as she crashed into the plateau in the distance and fell onto the beach. Rocks fell from the plateau and on top of Bellona, burying her under them. But after a few seconds, flames erupted and burned the rocks into molten lava that pooled around Bellona's feet.
"Okay, Anne, okay! If you want to get this all out of your system, then fine! I'll fight you until your completely done! I'll put you on your ass and I'll drag you kicking and screaming back to the castle to see that I was right!"
Amp flew around the air as she made Saipha's blade glow with lightning, at the same time, the twin blades of Bellona's Hyperion glowed with built up flames. The hero of lightning flew down from the air as she readied to strike again, but at the last second, Bellona flew up into the air meet to her. Both Riders struck with their swords as a powerful explosion went off in the air, pushing the waters and sand around them from the clash alone. Just then, both Amp and Bellona were jettisoned to opposite sides of the beach, with their weapons landing on opposite sides as well.
Bellona picked herself up and saw that Amp's Saipha was at her right, while Amp saw that Bellona's Hyperion was stuck up in the sand to her left. The two female Riders looked at each other, and then immediately grabbed the others' weapons and dashed straight down the beach. They channeled their respective elemental energies into their weapons, but they did not like having the opposite energy flowing through them, so as soon as they clashed again, both Saipha and Hyperion's shattered, forcing the two Riders back as they looked at their broken weapons.
Saipha and Hyperion broke down into particles as they flew in the air and returned to the MetamorphRings, no doubt to be repaired, but currently they were weaponless.
"I don't need Saipha to take you down, Waybright!" Amp stated.
"Tch, you think so? You forget, Anne." Bellona got into a fighting stance. "We sparred, remember? I've seen all your moves. There's nothing you can throw at me that I haven't already seen."
"Heh, maybe you're right. But here's the thing…"
Amp dashed across the beach, cocking back her right fist to clock Bellona in the face. But the gladiator quickly raised her left hand and caught the punch before it could land. However, her grip was shaking as Amp was really trying to force the punch through.
"Are you even one tenth as ticked off as I am?!"
Amp grabbed Bellona's right arm, breaking off the punch as she grabbed the other Rider's wrist, and then drove her right knee into Bellona's gut with full force, causing a shockwave to erupt behind her. Bellona coughed violently from the impact. Amp took advantage of this as she began combo punching Bellona, sending sparks flying from Bellona's armor with each successful hit, landing straight punches, elbow strikes, and uppercuts before leading into a roundhouse, and then a jumping roundhouse.
Bellona growled angrily as she reengaged Amp, blocking a punch as she delivered a hard punch to her chest, making sparks fly from the heavy blow. Amp's electrical aura mitigated some of the damage, but Bellona's increased strength and power was giving her, essentially, a damage buff, cutting through the invisible shield around Amp's body. Amp stumbled a bit, just enough for Bellona take advantage.
She struck Amp in the side of the knee, making it buckle as she went down. Bellona grabbed Amp's helmet and drove her knee into it, making Amp fall onto her back. But Bellona wasn't done. She picked up Amp and threw her like a ragdoll towards the cliffside. The moment Amp hit it, Bellona was already on her, throwing one punch after the other as the cliffside shook and cracked with each concussive blow.
"I don't want to do this, Anne! I don't want to hurt you! So, please!" Bellona grabbed ahold of Amp. "JUST!" The flame Rider dragged Amp at full speed against the cliffside, racking her through the stone and cutting a huge groove through it. "GIVE!" Bellona pulled Amp away from the cliff as she tossed her up into the air and flew after her. The flame Rider was now hovering over her as she raised both hands into the air and created a huge fireball. "UP!"
Bellona launched the fireball at Amp as it struck against her, carrying the blue Rider all the way back down to the ground as it detonated, sending a huge plume of flames into the air. When the smoke finally cleared, Bellona saw that the intense heat of her last attack and turned the sand around the radius of the blast into glass, and at the center of the crater was Amp, on her back. For a moment, Amp was not moving, but that was until Bellona heard a crack.
Fissures appeared all over the glass as Amp tightened her fists, and with a bolt of lightning, the glass shattered, with Amp standing up as the eyes of her helmet glowed bright azure. Bellona furrowed her brow from behind her helmet as her body erupted with flames, her helmet's eyes also glowing bright magenta. The two Riders flew at each other as the air shook with each clash of their punches and kicks. Streaks of lightning and fire danced in the sky as they fought fiercely, not giving an inch to one or the other.
Meanwhile, Ranger was making short work of the army, using her mastery of the wind to create blustering gusts of wind to blow them away, or tornados that would pick up the toad soldiers and toss them further and further back towards the gates. Currently, she was maintaining four different tornados from her perch up in the air. For the ones who were trying to escape different ways, Ranger would change the composition of her arrows so that it would hit with a concussive force rather than pierce them, knocking any toad unconscious in one hit, making it easier for her to throw them out, or for the Newtopian Knight Guard to round them up when the bulk of the army had been pushed out, which should be any minute now. Beatrix and Bufō didn't even get the chance to cross swords with Ranger earlier, their blades passed right through her before she summoned the wind to blow them back, and now they were being forced to retreat.
Back at the gates, Sprig had a front row seat to two different battles, the one that was going on below thanks to Yunan, Frobo, and his sister, along with Ranger herding the remaining toads out, and the most important one. The battle between Amp and Bellona. Sprig was rooting for Amp to defeat Bellona, with everything he had, but something else caught his attention. When he looked down the wall, he saw Grime climbing up towards him.
Anne told me to defend this gate, and that's what I'm going to do!
Sprig got a running start as jumped off the edge and fell towards Grime, yelling, "HEADS UUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPP!"
Grime was taken by surprise as Sprig landed right in his face, knocking both of them down the wall. They bounced off the side of the wall several times before hitting one roof, and then bouncing off a couple more roofs before finally stopping on top of one. Miraculously, both Grime and Sprig were still alive after that tumble. Sprig and Grime groaned as they managed to get to their feet, with Grime reaching behind his back as he brandished Barrel's Warhammer. The weapon began to glow, illuminating the rune markings and the hammer's head.
"I almost feel bad about this little frog," said Grime.
Sprig dodged as quickly as he could as Grime came in swinging with his Warhammer. The pink frog child used his agility and speed to keep from getting flattened by Grime, the toad warrior attacked with a thrust, and Sprig managed to jump onto the hammer at the last second, and hop over Grime, throwing him off balance.
"Ha! Too slow, toad!" Sprig mocked as he fired one rock he found on the roof.
The rock bounced off the back of his head. Grime swiftly turned around and threw a dagger at Sprig. The pink frog boy narrowly missed getting stabbed by it as the dagger embedded itself in the roof.
"You never stood a chan –AAAH!" Grime yelled when Sprig shot him in the left eye with another piece of rock. "My one good eye!"
Now blinded, Grime began swinging wildly all over the place.
"Where are you?! Where are you?!"
Sprig furrowed his brow and waited for his moment, he looked up in the sky and watched as a crackling lightning bolt clashed with a flaming comet. Anne's fighting to stop all this, I can't do any less! Sprig jumped high into the air, spun once and then let momentum and gravity carry him the rest of the way as he extended his right leg forward.
Grime kept trying to listen for his opponent, and because of that, he stopped swinging. That was a mistake as Sprig came down in a mock version of a Rider Kick and kicked Grime right in the face, the blow just enough to throw him off balance as he spun around and lost his grip on the Warhammer, letting it flail in the air as he fell onto his back. At that exact moment, the hammer came down and smacked him right in the face. Sprig stood on top of Grime and lifted the Warhammer, victorious.
Grime managed to open up his good eye and looked up at the frog child who was now standing on him, wielding his hammer. "But…you're just…a little frog…"
Sprig smirked. "Not so little after al-AAAAAAAAH!" Sprig screamed as the Warhammer's thrusters kicked on and spun him in the air.
He lost control of the hammer, which flung him away before coming back down and hitting Grime in the head, again, and knocking him out.
Down below, Ranger had managed to create four tornado walls that effectively corralled the remainder of the army. Beatrix and Bufō were panting from exhaustion, it was as if they were fighting the very element of wind itself, no matter how many times they tried to push against it, the wind just kept pushing back harder.
"This is ridiculous!" Beatrix exclaimed.
"How are we supposed to fight the wind?!" Bufō asked.
Ranger's visor glowed as she said, "You don't."
The Rider of wind raised her right hand and waved it forward, making all four tornados converge and pick up the toads. The tornados spun them around and around until another wave of Ranger's hand made all the tornados combine and blow forward, spitting out all the toads into the waters on the other side of the gate. Once Ranger confirmed that all of the toads were gone from the area, she used Wind Dancer to destroy the metal doorstop in one shot. Ranger air jumped higher and higher until she was above the gate and at the control, Sprig was gone but after a quick scan of the area, she saw that he was down below, on one of the roofs close to a knocked-out Grime.
With no one else to do it, Ranger hurried to the control wheel. She holstered Wind Dancer behind her back and began pushing on it. If it weren't for her Rider form granting her more physical strength than she was capable of on her own, there was no way she would be able to do this. The wheel began turning more and more as Ranger heard the doors grind against the stone pavement, and with one more turn of the wheel, the doors slammed shut.
Thinking quickly, Ranger took Wind Dancer back out and shot an arrow over the city that exploded in a shower of green sparks, essentially acting as a signal flare. Not a moment later, Ranger heard the sound of a klaxon horn sounding in the distance, along with the loud words of the king, "ROYAL KNIGHT GUARD, ASSEMBLE!"
Ranger nodded, now that the king gave the order, the remaining toads would be rounded up and subdued by the Knight Guard. However, this battle wasn't completely over, not yet. Ranger looked up and watched as her girlfriend and…ex-girlfriend, battled it out in the air before eventually crashing back to the ground.
"Anne…Sasha."
Amp and Bellona were panting hard, their armor was scuffed and dented from their constant fighting, but both girls were nearing their limit.
"Give it up…Sasha!" Amp urged.
"I'm not backing down, Anne!" Bellona replied.
Amp growled angrily as she declared, "Then let's finish this here and now!"
Suddenly, Amp's dragonfly crests had its wings separate, the lines on her armor and the blades on her bracers and greaves began glowing with electrical energy, charging up for one final attack as Amp's symbol appeared in front of her. Bellona understood, this was their last attack. Bellona's crystal war plume caught on fire as the crystal glowed a bright magenta, along with the bracer blades, greave wings, and the lines upon her armor. The symbol of Bellona appeared in front of her as she got into her ready stance. Lightning crackled and arced off Amp's body as Bellona's body released bursting flares.
"Lighting Strike!"
"Burning Destruction!"
The two girls felt the moment and jumped straight up into the air, with a single flip, both girls extended their right legs forwards as they passed through their symbols, coating their feet their respective energies and elements as they were shot forward. Their glowing Rider Kicks met in the middle as they struck at the same time. Fire and lightning clashed in the air around them as a gust of wind was kicked up around them. The ground below rumbled, and the air vibrated from the sheer force and power of their dueling Rider Kicks as the nexus of power that was being created from the point of contact grew bigger and bigger.
"SASHAAAAAA!"
"ANNNNNNNE!"
The two girls released primal screams of determination as they poured all they had into this final attack. However, it was slowly becoming clear that Bellona's power as a bit greater than that of Amp's as her energy was overtaking Amp's in the struggle. Amp could see it, but try as she might, nothing was working, strength and power were Sasha's specialty, and it was showing right here and now. Bellona was feeling more and more confident, this was it, she was about to defeat Amp, and then she could finally get through to her and show that–
Just then, something caught Bellona's eye, a green star that was glowing at the top of the Newtopian wall. Her enhanced vision allowed her to zoom in on that spot, and that's when she saw Ranger, drawing Wind Dancer as her butterfly helmet frills glowed with stored power, and her symbol appeared in front of the bow.
"Marcy…?"
"Howling Wind…"
Ranger released her arrow, the wind howled around the arrow like a wolf as it sailed through the air and struck Bellona right in the chest, exploding upon contact and sending a shower of sparks from the armor.
Thanks, Mar-Mar!
Amp released another war cry as she funneled all the power she had into the Rider Kick. At last, the nexus of power broke, allowing Amp to overtake Bellona as her Rider Kick hit Bellona in the same spot as Ranger's arrow strike. A massive explosion took place, sending sparks of lightning into the air. The toad warriors who were thrown out of the city all stood up, wondering if their champion had managed to win. They were sorely disappointed when the smoke cleared, and found only Kamen Rider Amp still standing, while Bellona was on the ground. That was their cue to retreat as the toad forces ran for the hills.
Amp and Bellona's Rider forms released, returning them to civilian form. Anne was bruised up, and some blood trickled from the side of her mouth, but she was all right. Sasha was the same way, bruised and beaten, with some scratches, but otherwise still breathing.
Anne looked around and watched as the toads ran away, and the fact that Marcy was in her Rider form, and the gates were closed meant that their plan worked. Anne looked back down at Sasha, smirking victoriously as her ex-girlfriend managed to regain consciousness.
"End of the line, Sash! We won, and you lost," said Anne.
Sasha looked around and saw the closed gates, and the few toads that were still running away. "No…Nonononono! Anne! You don't understand! It's not over!" Sasha shot to her feet, although that was a bit of a mistake as she became a little woozy from the quick action. She managed to drag herself to Anne weakly grab her shoulders. "You have to believe me…please Anne! We're all in danger!"
Anne had enough, she pushed Sasha away from her, letting the blonde fall back into the water. "Shut up, already! You lost! We won! Get over it, Sasha! For once in your life, you're not in control anymore!" Anne bent down and grabbed Sasha by her armor, hoisting her up. "And I'm through with you!"
Sasha watched as Anne raised her right fist to punch her, but that same fist shook, hesitating. "Anne…please…"
Anne wanted to do it, she wanted so badly to punch this girl in the face, this girl who toyed with her emotions, and broke her heart. But…Frog help her. Anne released Sasha and let her fall onto her rear. "You're going to sit there until Marcy gets here with some Knight Guards, then we're going to go back home."
"…You're still going to taking me back?" Sasha asked.
"I can't leave you here in Amphibia, and I can't just not go back without you. Your parents will still want to see you, but I'm not letting you out of my sight for a second," said Anne.
Sasha glanced towards the city as a feeling of dread overcame her. Anne…you don't realize it, but…neither one of us won today.
It took a few hours, but eventually the Knight Guard was able to regain control of the city and round up the remaining toad soldiers. Anne and Marcy rested up in that time but stayed close to Sasha should she try and escape.
The girls mostly rested and sat in silence; this whole ordeal had royally screwed up their relationship now. Anne still looked at Sasha with anger, while Marcy looked hurt, and confused. She obviously still had feelings for Sasha, but she knew what she did was the right thing. But Marcy hoped that this relationship was not completely unsalvageable. Although, the more she looked at Sasha and Anne, the more that scenario was becoming more and more unlikely. Anne excused herself for a moment to use the restroom, which gave Sasha and Marcy some time alone.
"Sasha, why did you do it?" Marcy asked.
"…"
"Please, talk to me," said Marcy.
"…I don't think there's an answer I can give that doesn't make me sound like a total bitch, Mar-Mar," Sasha confessed. "I wanted control…control over this world…and, I guess, control over you guys. I was just tired of not being able onto hold the people I care about. To keep the family I love together. I couldn't do anything to keep my parents together, and so, I did everything I could to keep us together."
Marcy turned to Sasha with a sympathetic expression. "Sasha, we would never leave you. Anne came back to you and was worried about you the whole time you two were separated after Toad Tower. And you know I wouldn't either."
Sasha looked down at the floor with sad eyes. "You can't guarantee that, Mars. Couples fight, and how much fighting do you think we'd get into with three of us? I thought my parents were happy together, but it turns out that they weren't. I wanted us to share in everything, so that no one felt left out, so that we could be happy together. Whether it was just as best friends forever, or…what we had until I screwed that up. Now, not only did I lose my best friends…I lost the best girlfriends I ever had or will have. What's worse, Anne hates me…but you know what's really messed up about that? I still love her…I still love you, Marcy. I finally had the balls to tell you two how I felt, and I messed it all up…"
Marcy wanted to say that Anne didn't, but that would be a lie. She was there when she heard Anne say those words right in Sasha's face. It hurt her to hear her girlfriend say that to her other girlfriend with such malice and venom.
Anne had not really left to go to the restroom, she just had to get out of the room for a little bit, and not be around Sasha. She was standing outside the room, listening to Sasha's words. Anne felt a fresh wave of tears begin to fall down her face, she placed her hand over her mouth to stop her hitching breathes from being heard. She didn't want to admit it, because somewhere deep down inside of her, she felt the same way as Sasha, she still loved her. But right now, she couldn't be with her, not after all that Sasha had done, not after all the manipulation and lying, and this recent event, it was all too much.
"Anne?"
The Thai teen saw Hop Pop walking down the hall towards her, she quickly wiped her eyes clear and put on a calm expression. "Oh, hey, Hop Pop, what's up?"
"Things have settled down some, so the king's ready fer ya whenever you are," said Hop Pop.
"Cool. Cool…I'll, uh, I'll get Sasha and Marcy and we'll be in the throne room here in a sec."
The old frog walked up to his adopted granddaughter and held her right hand gently as he looked up at her. "Ah know yer hurtin' still, Anne. But just know we're all here fer ya, Marcy included of course."
Anne smiled and bent down to hug her adopted grandfather. "Thanks, Hop Pop."
Afterwards, Anne and Marcy escorted Sasha to the throne room, while Yunan and Frobo led Grime. Together, the original group who stopped the rebellion were now gathered inside the throne room, the king had gone to take care of some last-minute delegations, but it was not long before he returned through the doors.
"Okay, let's do this," said King Andrias happily.
"Anne, please, don't give him the bo–!"
"Silence!" Yunan ordered as she slapped her tail upon Sasha's mouth.
Anne looked over her shoulder at Sasha. Even after losing, she was still trying to convince her of that crazy thing about Andrias being in league with The Night. Why? The battle was over. They won. Was this her just being a sore loser? Trying to screw with her head one last time? Well, the heck with her, Anne was not about to give her the satisfaction. Anne turned around to face the king and placed the music box into his outstretched right hand.
"No," Sasha whispered.
"Alright, big guy. Send us home," said Anne.
"In good time, my dear. But first, I'm gonna let you all in on a little secret. There was a time when Newtopia was truly great. But that greatness was stolen from us. Centuries of prosperity brought to an end…because of me. I was weak, trusting those who said they were my friends. And because of that, the music box was taken under my watch. It cost us everything. And after a thousand years, no one even remembers our legacy. But now, at long last, the box is back! And with its power, Newtopia will be returned to glory!"
"Oh, well, that's nice," Hop Pop commented.
Anne, on the other hand, was feeling more and more uneasy the longer she listened to King Andrias' story. "Something's wrong here…"
King Andrias smiled broadly as he continued, "For you see, my ancestors weren't frail explorers. They were GLORIOUS CONQUERORS!"
As soon as King Andrias said that the newt king stepped on a panel on the floor. A pedestal rose from the floor, its height reaching just above Andrias' waist. Once the pedestal was up, he placed the music box upon it. The reaction was immediate as the glowing lines appeared on the pedestal, each one matching one of the three glowing gemstones on the music box. The castle began to shake violently as all the windows in the throne room began to shatter one after the other.
Outside, the ornate top of the castle glowed, and the entire city of Newtopia shook as well. The quake was violent, sending the citizens into a panic, and it was not too long ago that they had just managed to thwart a toad uprising, now this. Sparks of electricity began to arc from the castle, striking the buildings below as the entire structure seemed to be powering up. Unfortunately, those electrical discharges were hitting the city below, nearly killing a few people in the process. After a minute of this, the discharges stopped, and a new kind of hell began. The city was rocked by another quake, this one more violent than the last as the ground began to split in several directions. Gradually the quake subsided, but as it did, the citizens stared in frightened awe as the castle, the center piece of Newtopia, began to rise into the air. In just a matter of seconds, the castle was now hovering over the city, casting an ominous shadow over it. The few remaining toad soldiers who were camped far off on the shore were just as shocked as the citizens of Newtopia, staring up slack jawed at the castle they once occupied, which was now hovering high in the sky.
But that was the least of their worries. Far, far in the distance, there was a place that Anne and the Plantars had once visited, a place where Frobo was speculated to have come from, where Anne's bike, Machine Stormer had possibly been created. The Ruins of Disaster. The metal mounds started to glow, as if reacting to the floating castle in the sky. Inside the mounds, the factories came online, and immediately began production on more Frobos, but these were different, most were black and dark gray in color, and had red glowing eyes, and did not the sport the happy mouthpiece that Frobo had, rather, they were covered by a metal plate to give them a more menacing look. The assembly line was quick, making more and more of the dark Frobos in record time. Before long, a small army of the robots had been created, and without missing a beat, all of them ignited their thrusters and flew towards the floating castle in the sky.
Sprig managed to get to one of the windows as he peered down, noticing that he could barely see anything down blow, as most of it was either spackling of farmlands or small structures. "Oh, we are way high up!"
That's when Sprig noticed something coming towards them, dozens upon dozens of black dots that were littering the sky. Sprig quickly headed back to the group as those black dots got closer and revealed themselves to be dark versions of their lovable robot companion. More and more of the robots entered through the broken windows, and within seconds everyone was surrounded.
King Andrias looked down upon the humans, frogs, toad, and his general and attendant. "I'm sorry, Anne. But I'm afraid I can't let you and your GFs return home just yet. Wouldn't want you telling anyone about the coming invasion."
"Invasion?! W-What are you talking about?!" Anne asked.
King Andrias' smile became wicked as he informed her, "Heh, well, now that I have the box back, I can finish the work that my ancestors started so many years ago. From this castle, I will not only rule over this world, but ALL worlds! AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!"
Anne couldn't believe this, everything that Sasha was trying to tell her, wasn't a lie. The Thai teen looked over to her left, just as Sasha looked at her. "Sasha…I…I'm so sorry…"
"Anne, never mind that. There'll be time for apologies and stuff later, but right now, we have take this guy down!" Sasha stated.
"You're right!" Anne looked up at the king with defiant eyes as she proclaimed, "You're invasion won't happen! We'll stop you, Andrias!"
King Andrias sighed in annoyance. "Stop me? Stop me? Hate to tell ya this, but you lost your chance to stop me when you freed me and drove out that annoying toad army. But I can see a demonstration of my power is in order. Behold!"
The newt king tapped on the music box, causing the gems to glow as they funneled their power into the castle. Outside, the top structure of the castle began to transform into something resembling a cannon with a hammer. The barrel of the cannon began to gather energy, building up its charge until the hammer fell, firing the pent-up energy in the form of powerful beam of light that blazed through the sky and headed straight for the closest Toad Tower.
Anne, Marcy, Sasha, the Plantars, Frobo, Grime, Yunan, and Olivia watched as that beam of light struck the tower and destroyed in one shot, creating a small mushroom cloud from the power of the explosion.
"NO!" Grime cried out.
"Was that…the North Tower?!" Sasha asked.
"Aldo…" Grime lamented.
"ANNE, we have to stop him! NOW!" Sasha urged.
Anne couldn't believe any of this, the king really was on the side of The Night. "I was so blinded by my anger that I couldn't see any of this…I didn't want to believe any of it because it was Sasha saying it…and because of that I never even stopped to think that this was a possibility…I'm so stupid!"
"Focus, Anne! If we can get the music box away from him, then maybe we'll stand a fightin' chance," said Hop Pop.
Sasha summoned her power and burned her rope bindings, at the same time, both she and Anne summoned their MetamorphRing Drivers, preparing to transform and take down King Andrias. But they were stopped when Marcy placed herself between the king and the group.
"STOP!" Marcy quickly turned around and looked up at the king. "King Andrias, this wasn't the plan! You said you were going to help me convince Anne and Sasha!"
King Andrias shook his head as he tittered at the naivety of the young human before him. "I would have said anything if it meant you delivered the box to me fully charged. Hate to break it to you, kiddo, but you've been duped."
Marcy shook her head in disbelief. "No…but…but…"
"Mar-Mar, what's he talking about?" Anne asked in confusion.
"Yeah, what plan?" Sasha asked as well.
Marcy turned around as her face morphed into one of desperation. "He said he would help me to convince you guys that we should travel to other worlds, and that he would help us in doing so! So that we can continue to fight evil and have amazing adventures, just like this one! Forever and ever!"
Anne was having a hard time understanding this. "But – wait – I don't get it. Why?"
King Andrias smirked. "Why indeed. Enough lies, Mar-Mar. If you don't tell them the truth, I will."
Marcy's eyes widened with fear as she turned to face the king. "No! You wouldn't! Please!"
Anne and Sasha were starting to feel more anxious about this, what was Marcy hiding from them?
"Marcy, please, tell us what he's talking about?" Anne asked, again.
King Andrias smirked as he walked back up to his throne and sat upon it. "Did it ever occur to you, Anne, Sasha, that one of you might've known more than she let on? That one of you might have gotten you stranded in Amphibia on purpose."
Anne and Sasha looked at Marcy with eyes wide and full of shock. It could not be true; it was not possible.
"Marcy…Marcy tell me what he said wasn't true," said Sasha.
Marcy didn't.
"Marcy Wu! Turn the eff around and look me in the eyes! And tell me this overgrown lizard is lying!" Sasha demanded.
Marcy flinched at the harsh tone in Sasha's voice, but she slowly turned around, tears falling from her eyes as she smiled. "I…I did it for us…"
"What…?" Anne whispered.
"The day we left – your birthday – my Dad told me he got a new job! Out of state! They were going to move me all the way to New York! They were going to tear us apart! I…I couldn't let that happen!" Marcy admitted.
Anne shook her head, she heard Marcy's words, but her mind was not able to process this. "No…Marcy…you…you didn't…"
Marcy, despite seeing the obviously distraught faces of her lovers, kept going. "I-I found the Calamity Box in that thrift store, but I had no idea it would work!"
"But you did know it would bring us here?!" Sasha asked as tears started to form in her eyes. "For the love of, God, Marcy, you knew?!"
"NO! NO! I swear I had no idea it would work! If nothing else, it was going to be my present to Anne and you! The last present I could give you in person!" Marcy argued as her eyes widened, becoming more frantic. "B-But it did! It DID work!" Marcy rushed to her girlfriends and grasped their hands. Looking them both in the eyes as she tried to make them understand. "A-And it sent us to a place where we could be together forever, and in love! With no one to tell us otherwise, and where the three of us can have amazing adventures and become heroes! Just the three us!"
Sasha pulled away from Marcy's grip, suddenly finding Marcy's touch akin to the feeling of being burned by acid. Marcy's heart sank when she saw Sasha pull away. Why could Sasha not understand?
"Marcy…how could you…?" Anne asked desperately. "I've been missing my parents…my home…my whole life!"
Marcy took Anne's right hand into both of hers, surely Anne could understand. Yes, she could. The girl who sparked her awakening to liking girls, the girl she first fell in love with. Her rock, her staple. Of course, she had to understand why she did this. "Anne, please, look how much you've grown! How much all three of us have grown here! And look how much fun we've had while being here! We became Kamen Riders, all three of us! I-I-It's fate! Anne! We were fated to be together! To be heroes together! Look at what I've given you both because of how much I love you!"
Sprig was having just as hard a time hearing this as the girls were. He thought Marcy was the one, the one who could make Anne happy. But…Marcy was just like Sasha after all.
Marcy glanced down at the pink frog, making him flinch as she rambled on. "Look at Sprig! Look at us, Anne! I gave him to you! I gave myself to you! I've given us everything!"
Anne backed away as she let her hand slip out of Marcy's grasp. "Marcy…you've been using me…using us…this whole time…" The tears flowed more heavily now. "I…I discovered something about myself thanks to you! But was that you're plan all along?! To make me feel something for you?! To make Sasha and me focus only on you?!"
"No! No! Anne, I love you, and I love Sasha! That's not a lie! That's one hundred percent the truth! I swear on my powers and my ancestors that it's the truth!" Marcy pleaded. "You have to believe me!"
"HOW CAN I!" Anne shouted. "Don't you get it…I fell in love with you, I took a leap, and I was happy Marcy!…But…that love is based on a lie…all of this…it's been one huge lie…"
Marcy felt her heart breaking as she finally took notice of Anne's tear-filled expression, and Sasha's hurt, tear streaked, and angered face. Anne was right. She manipulated everything, she did this to them. She worked so hard to keep them together, to become more than friends and keep their love for each other strong. And yet…in the end, it was not a monster that tore them apart. It was herself. Marcy fell to her knees as the tears cascaded down her face. "I'm sorry…I'm so sorry…I…I just didn't want to be alone…I love you guys so much…I just didn't want to be apart from you…"
"Well, oops, looks like I went and spilled the tea, as you kids say, heh-heh!" The king mocked as he slapped his knee. "But I guess that's what you get when you pour your heart out to me over flipwart."
Anne was in shock, she…all of this was way too much. She looked at Sasha, her face still angry and crying, but no less determined to stop the tyrant before them. The blonde teenager looked to Anne, right now they were both hurting, all three of them were hurting. But this was not the time to sort those feelings out, right now they had to be the heroes that they have become.
The Thai teen pushed all those emotions to the side for now and focused solely on the evil before her. "Despite what we may be going through, it doesn't change the fact that you're evil, Andrias!"
"Oh, here we go. Here comes the big hero speech" King Andrias groaned.
"No matter what's going on between us, there's one thing that we know we have to do above all else! Defend the helpless, Protect the innocent, and slay the forces of evil wherever they show up! Because we're Kamen Riders! And today, we're taking you down! Henshin!"
"Henshin!"
Anne and Sasha were wrapped in domes of lightning and fire and were quickly transformed into Kamen Riders Amp and Bellona.
Bellona drew the Phoenix Wing sword from the Driver and readied herself for battle. "You're right, Anne. I've got your back!"
Despite having her face covered, Amp smiled at Bellona, and somehow, Bellona could tell she was.
Grime nodded and broke his bonds with his sheer strength as Frobo threw the Warhammer at him, grabbing it out of the air and taking his place beside Bellona. "And I've got yours, Lieutenant!"
Hop Pop raised his fists, while Polly stood next to Sprig as he loaded his slingshot.
"We're with you, Anne, to the end!" Sprig announced.
King Andrias looked upon the supposed heroes who planned to stop him as he raised an eyebrow. "You guys are serious, huh? Okay." The newt king stood up from his throne and reached into his armor, pulling out a coral sword hilt. With a flick of his wrist, the top of the hilt ignited, creating an energy blade that was at least ten feet long. "Let's have some fun!"
"Sasha, Anne, take the king! We'll take care of these machines!" Grime insisted.
"Be careful! Anne, let's go!"
"Right!"
Amp and Bellona ran straight for Andrias, the king of Amphibia gave the order for his robots to begin their attack. But the two Riders made short work of them as Amp smashed her fist through the chest of one of them, sending a surge of electricity through it and causing the robot to short circuit before exploding. Bellona ignited the blade of her sword before slashing off one of the robot's arms, before piercing it through the chest and slashing upwards. Cutting a molten gash through it before it, too, exploded.
Amp dashed around the giant newt, but as soon as she found an opening, Andrias spun and whipped her with his tail, sending Amp flying into a pillar. Bellona engaged next, lunging straight at him with her sword. Andrias easily blocked her strike with his beam sword and pushed her back. The two started clashing blades as sparks flew from each contact made. Amp managed to regain her senses and ran back into the fight, cocking her right fist back as she jumped into the air and prepared to strike him from behind. However, before the blow could be struck, a hard-light shield appeared behind him at the last second, hexagonal in shape, and blocked Amp's punch from landing.
"What the heck is this?!" Amp exclaimed.
"I've been around for a thousand years, girls. Believe me when I say you're very much outmatched, even with your powers, it can't make up for experience," said Andrias.
The king made the shield glow as it released a repelling force that pushed Amp back, and at the same time, Andrias swung his blade. Bellona blocked the attack but was surprised by just how strong the blow was as it rattled her entire body and made her bones hurt. Andrias took advantage of Bellona's stunned state and managed to land a blow with his sword across her chest, creating a shower of sparks from her armor as she was sent flying back.
"SASHA!" Amp yelled as she ran for her.
But Andrias slashed with his sword, bringing the blade down right in her path and stopping Amp from going to Bellona's aid. "Don't worry about her, Anne. You got your own problems to deal with."
Marcy was still stunned by everything that had happened. Andrias betrayed her…used her…and revealed her secret to the two girls she loved most. Now they must hate her, for sure they must. It was true, she didn't think the music box's powers were real, she hoped they were, but she never in her wildest dreams thought it was possible to travel to another world. But it did happen, and here they were, as Kamen Riders, in a magical world of talking amphibians.
They were living the isekai adventure every fan of anime dreamed of, that she dreamt of. She got cool powers, fell in love with her childhood friends, and got to become their girlfriends, all three them, together. But Anne was right. This whole thing was based on a lie, she's been lying to Anne since she arrived to Newtopia, she's been manipulating both of her friends into wanting to stay, maybe even becoming a throuple was her twisted subconscious idea to make it harder for the girls to want to leave her, believing if they loved her enough, that they'd say yes to just never going back home and continue on world hopping and fighting bad guys and saving worlds.
She was no better than Sasha, in the end. Everything she did was for herself and herself alone. She ignored that Anne was feeling homesick, she ignored the possibility that Sasha could fall back into her old habits. And she completely, and utterly fell for Andrias' lies and manipulation. The Fallen attacks, how much of that was actually staged? Were any of their victories earned? Or did Andrias just make them strong enough to make the fights difficult, but not unwinnable? Could they even call themselves real Kamen Riders, real heroes?
The sounds of battle briefly brought Marcy back to reality as she watched what was going on. Hop Pop was fighting a robot, punching hard and knocking it down. Only to regret it a moment later as his fist throbbed with pain. That same robot rose back up and prepared to attack him, but Grime came up behind the robot and smashed it with his hammer. Now together, Grime and Hop Pop worked in tandem to beat down the robots that were attacking.
Lady Olivia was trying to back away from the combat, but one of the robots that was knocked away was flying right towards her. But before it could crash into her, Yunan came in and slashed the robot down the middle, letting both halves sail past them before exploding against the wall.
Frobo was combating his fellow robot brethren, firing his laser cannons and missile launchers while Polly remained perched on top of him. Which, at this point, was probably the safest spot for her. Sprig was busy shooting mud at some of the robots that were in Frobo's blind spot, gunking up their laser cannons and causing them to explode, rendering their weapon useless.
Her head managed to look over her shoulder, watching as Amp and Bellona fiercely fought Andrias, trying to take the mad king down. They're fighting together…even after everything that's happened…Can I afford to do any less? Marcy furrowed her brow as she felt the strength return to her legs. Anne's right, we'll work through all of this later. Right now, our duty as Kamen Riders is to defeat evil!
Marcy summoned her MetamorphRing Driver, and quickly uttered, "Henshin!"
Within a matter of seconds, Marcy had transformed into Kamen Rider Ranger. Now armed with the Squall Sniper, Ranger spun the Windmill Wheel three times, changing her weapon to explosive rounds. "EVERYONE, DUCK!"
Ranger jumped into the air as she took aim and fired several air bolts at the robots. Each one hit its mark and exploded, destroying the robots on the spot. Some of the bots turned on her, preparing to fire, but that gave the others time to attack while they were distracted, taking even more of them out. Ranger spun the wheel twice, switching to piercing rounds as she fired more air bolts, turning many of the robots into Swiss cheese. Once she was sure she had thinned out the robots, she left the rest for their allies to take care of them while she turned her attention to the main boss fight going on behind her.
The emerald archer dismissed her weapon and pressed on both of her hip devices. In a flash of three lights, Ranger had entered Trinity Form: Warlock. Ranger watched as Andrias was about to attack Amp, but using Rewrite, Ranger created a barrier around Amp just as Andrias' beam sword came down. The appearance of the barrier surprised him as his sword bounced against the barrier, throwing him off kilter. Ranger took the opening and conjured several Squall Sniper constructs and had them all fire a barrage at the mad king. Andrias summoned his hard-light shield in front of him, forcing the newt king to back up as the shield took the brunt of her attack.
Ranger kept up the barrage as she made her way to Amp and asked, "Anne, are you okay?!"
"Marcy?"
"There's no amount of sorrys I can say that will be enough to make this better. But like you said, we need to focus on what's in front of us. And that's taking down this mad king!"
Bellona appeared on Ranger's right and said, "Well, join the club, Wu. I can make a lot of quips about who's the bigger screw up and it'd be so easy. But the biggest priority, like you said, is defeating Andrias and protecting both our worlds."
Amp stood up and nodded to both of Riders. Bellona and Amp pressed down on their hip devices, coating themselves in the three lights of their different forms as they merged together and entered Trinity Form: Poison Dart and Proud Fighter. Now in their strongest base forms, the girls were ready to take down Andrias.
"You girls sure you want to use those forms? Why not use your Super Forms? Probably make kicking my butt a lot easier," said Andrias.
"Please, you're not worth going Super," said Bellona.
"Besides, you need to face justice, and our Trinity power is more than enough to take you down," said Amp.
"Oh, you think so? Huh. Well, I guess I should make the playing field more even now, shouldn't I?"
"What?" Ranger questioned.
"You were right, Sasha. The Night is here."
The shield that defended Andrias burst apart, releasing a blast of energy that pushed the girls back and destroyed Ranger's constructs. But what they saw next surprised them even more. Black wings sprouted from Andrias' back, huge ones. The two black wings wrapped around his body, and within a matter of seconds, burst apart in a shower of black feathers and dark light that revealed something else where the king once stood.
His body was covered in black armor, with dark blue shoulder pauldrons that curled and resembled seashells. Around his forearms were jagged purple markings transitioning to bright blue on the top of his hands and stopping at the knuckles. There were crack-like lines in the armor, glowing and pulsating as they led directly to the center of the chest where a circular crystal filament piece rested. Andrias' head had become oblong, with blue stripes running horizontally across his face, and four curved horns sticking up from it. The number of eyes he had tripled, giving him six eyes, each one having orange sclera and yellow irises that were circular, but with two sharp points at the top and bottom. Down below, his legs well, it was hard to tell if he had legs or not, as the bottom part was covered in wispy shadows, much akin to how their capes and scarfs looked whenever the girls transformed into their Super Forms. And lastly, upon his back were four long mechanical tentacles, which undulated and reared themselves into a striking position.
"What…in the name of Frog…is that?!" Yunan exclaimed in complete shock.
"K-King Andrias…?!" Olivia managed to speak, but it was part question and answer.
"You girls aren't the only ones with the power to transform," said Andrias.
"Andrias, so you are The Night!" Amp accused.
Andrias shrugged. "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. But these facts are indisputable. I have these powers, I have been manipulating you girls since the moment you dropped into my world, and I do plan on conquering this world and every world soon after. The real question is, do you stand chance against me without your 'OP' Super Forms? Hmmm?"
Amp looked to her left, Bellona nodded, and then she looked to her right, Ranger nodded as well. "Guess we'll find out, won't we!"
The tips of Fallen Andrias' tentacles morphed, creating a spike that had a rounded nodes at the tip of the spikes. Those nodes powered up and began shooting laser blasts at the girls. Bellona raised her Aegis shield, creating a hard-light version of it in front of them as it took the brunt of Andrias beam assault. Ranger dropped down to one knee and pressed her right hand against the floor, using Rewrite's power, she sent her energy into the floor itself, making it rise up like living clay around Fallen Andrias, preparing to swallow him.
Fallen Andrias wasn't about to fall for that one as he jumped straight up at the last second before the living clay could swallow him. However, that was just what they wanted as Amp had jumped up at the same time, wielding her Sting Strikers as she coated them in her poison plasma energy. Once she was in range, she slashed with both of her weapons. Fallen Andrias raised his arms up, blocking the two hits as her weapons made contact with his armored hide.
Amp returned to the safety of Bellona's Aegis shield and smirked up at the mad king. "Bad move, Andrias! Now my poison's going to start paralyzing you!"
Fallen Andrias landed back on the floor with a hard thud, his body was shaking, bolstering their confidence that Amp's paralytic poison was taking effect. But then the tremors stopped and Fallen Andrias rose to his full height. "Just kidding! You didn't think it'd be that easy, did you? That poison may've been able to get the best of the Fallen, but against me, you'll have to try a lot harder than that."
Ranger gritted her teeth, Fallen Andrias was right on more than one count. They couldn't use their Super Forms, not after such an extensive fight as they had not too long ago, and even if they could, there was no telling for how long they could maintain that form before they eventually fell from complete fatigue and power exhaustion. It was honestly a miracle that they had enough power and stamina to go into their Trinity Forms, but without knowing how strong Fallen Andrias was, they could just be fighting a losing battle. With that thought, Ranger decided to pull out all the stops, if Fallen Andrias was the real big boss of this entire evil plot, then defeating him would free Amphibia from the threat of The Night.
"Girls, get ready!" Ranger slashed her Rewrite arm in a wide circle and produced a bubble around the three of them. "Enhance physical strength: times ten! Enhance speed and agility: times ten! Enhance elemental damage: times ten! Enhance kinetic force damage: times ten! Enhance beam and physical defense: times ten!"
Multiple colored lights overlapped all three Riders, one after the other, and when it was done, both Amp and Bellona felt a great increase in their power and strength.
Amp was fully aware about what Ranger just did as she turned to her and said, "Marcy, what are you doing?! You said the times ten enhancement was too much for you, and now you're using it on three of us! You barely managed to use it on just you and me!"
"Wait what?! Is that true?!" Bellona asked.
Ranger was feeling the strain from using the enhancements, her vision went blurry to seeing double a couple of times, but after shaking her head, all that came back into focus as she concentrated on the task before her. "We can't win unless we go all out on him! This could be our only shot at defeating The Night and the Fallen! He may have been pulling our strings from the beginning, but we'll show him that we are the heroes that Amphibia needs! That everything we are came from us, and not from him!"
Amp and Bellona nodded in silent agreement. Even if Fallen Andrias had been orchestrating their battles up until now, it didn't change the fact that they were Riders, and they were the only ones with the power to end this evil. Amp, Ranger, and Bellona's bodies were glowing with their respective colored auras as they broke off in three different directions.
Fallen Andrias fired more of his beams, cutting burning red gashes into the walls, floor, and ceiling as he tried to hit the girls. Bellona managed to get over top Fallen Andrias as she aimed her Cestus gauntlet and fired it. Fallen Andrias smirked as he easily dodged to his right, letting the weapon fly right by him. However, right before it could strike the throne behind him, Ranger appeared from the shadows and let her cape engulf the Cestus. A moment later, Fallen Andrias was uppercut by the Cestus as it came flying out from the shadow he cast on the floor in front of him.
The blow hit a bit harder than he had anticipated as he stumbled backwards, but that was enough for Amp to come in, her fists coated in her corrosive poison as she hit him in the back with a double fist strike, making the blow create a small shockwave that made him lurch forward. Amp dashed around him as a streak of lightning followed behind her, getting to his front as she twisted in the air and drove her elbow into his stomach, followed by roundhouse kick to his left side, and finally, jumping over him to drive down a poison coated ax kick to the top of his horned head.
"KEEP BLITZING HIM! DON'T GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO COUNTERATTACK!" Bellona ordered.
Amp combined her two Sting Strikers into its shuriken mode, channeled her lightning and poison energy into it, and flung it at Fallen Andrias. Ranger formed more of her construct Squall Snipers and began another barrage on Fallen Andrias. Bellona threw multiple copies of her Aegis around Fallen Andrias and then fired her Cestus gauntlet at them, using the shields to ricochet the Cestus as it struck Fallen Andrias from different angles. The girls kept up their onslaught, doing as they said and not giving Fallen Andrias the time he needed to counterattack at all.
The Plantars, Olivia and Yunan, and Grime watched on in awe as the three Riders worked together to defeat the mad king, and it was working, even without their Super Forms, they were overwhelming him. They could do it; they could win.
Ranger formed three shadow daggers in her left hand and tossed them at Fallen Andrias' shadow. Each one struck a different spot on the shadow, but Ranger wasn't done as she jumped into the air, twirled around, and threw even more. She did not want to take the chance that Fallen Andrias could break free of just three daggers, so she spiked his shadow with twenty. As soon as she did that, Fallen Andrias became unable to move, he was visibly struggling to do so, but found himself unable to at all.
"Girls we have to finish this now before he breaks free of the daggers!"
"Let's do it!"
"Together!"
Amp, Bellona, and Ranger got into their stances. Amp's horn crest, along with Ranger's curved horn crest, and Bellona's wing frills fanned out. The colored lines upon their armor and the eyes of their helmets glowed brighter and brighter as emerald wind, azure lightning, and flames flared up around them. All three of their symbols appeared beneath them as they were absorbed by their right feet, coating those feet in their power. The Calamity Riders jumped at the same time, as high as they could go before flipping in the air and coming down with triple Rider Kick.
"LIGHTNING!"
"WIND!"
"FIRE!"
"CALAMITY KICK!"
All three of their elemental powers fused together, creating a comet of three energies and elements as they came soaring down towards Fallen Andrias for the final attack.
"ENOUGH!"
Fallen Andrias was not done yet, in fact, he had hardly begun to fight. The crystal filament on his chest began to glow in tandem with the cracks on his armor. More and more power was funneled to the filament until it was all released in a massive violet colored beam that roared towards the Riders. The comet and beam struck, causing a powerful shockwave that knocked everyone onto their rears and backs, including the remaining robots. What windows weren't shattered had been now, and even Andrias' throne was breaking apart.
"EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT, GIRLS!" Amp urged.
The comet doubled in size as the three girls poured every last drop of power they had into this attack. But Fallen Andrias didn't even seem worried in the least as he met their power with more of his own, making the beam he fired triple in size. The comet of power that the girls were wrapped in was slowly getting engulfed, being stripped away by Fallen Andrias' attack. The comet became thinner and thinner until they were completely obscured by the beam, and three different explosions could be heard coming from within the beam. Fallen Andrias cut off the beam as he saw three smoke trails fall out of the beam.
Amp, Bellona, and Ranger, fell to the floor, their bodies smoking and sizzling. Everyone hurried to them, and when they did, their armor disappeared, returning all three girls to civilian form. Anne, Sasha, and Marcy groaned painfully as they managed to at least get to their knees.
"Girls, are ya alright?!" Hop Pop asked worriedly.
All three of them looked back up at Fallen Andrias, who had his arms crossed as he looked down on them. Sasha drew both of her heron swords, Anne drew her sword, and Marcy aimed her crossbow arm at the mad king. Rider powers or no, they weren't about to stop now. The others, emboldened by their resolve, got into their own fighting stances, and readied to fight by their side.
"Oh, give me a break. Enough of this!"
Fallen Andrias focused his energy into his right fist and struck the floor in front of him, sending surge of energy through it as it traveled right to the group and struck them a kinetic burst that sent them all flying in different directions. Unfortunately, one of them fell too close to where Fallen Andrias was, Polly. The pollywog groaned for a moment before looking up and realizing that Fallen Andrias was raising his right foot out of the wispy shadows and about to step on her.
"POLLY, NO!" Anne screamed.
But just before Fallen Andrias could squish Polly like a bug, Frobo jumped in and lashed out with his arms, wrapping them around his body in a desperate attempt to save his family.
{Polly, I will save you!} Frobo spoke.
Fallen Andrias looked over his shoulder and saw that it was one of his robots. "Huh, would you look at that. It's one of my robots. Must be defective." Fallen Andrias used one of his tentacles and lashed at Frobo.
The tenacle struck with great force, smashing Frobo's body to pieces in one blow, and sending his head flying where it slid against floor and stopped in front of Anne and the others.
"FROBO!" Polly cried. "You…You MONSTER!"
"Don't worry, you're up next," said Fallen Andrias in a matter-of-fact tone.
Fallen Andrias switched to his fist as he drew it back and brought it down over Polly, smashing it into the floor and kicking up a cloud of dust. Everyone looked on in horror, they couldn't believe that he just killed an innocent young baby frog. However, as Fallen Andrias removed his fist – fully expecting to see some bloody remains – he found that there was nothing.
"Wait, what?"
"OVER HERE YA BIG BOZO!"
Everyone turned their heads in the direction of Polly's voice, and as the dust settled it was revealed that Polly's legs had grown out just in the nick of time.
"Guess who just got her new leg – whoa!" Polly began to stumble about, having just obtained her legs and was still getting the hang of them.
"MY LITTLE BABY'S ALIVE! ALSO, SHE'S GOT LEGS!" Hop Pop exclaimed in joy.
"This is weird," said Sprig.
Sasha saw that Polly was close to the box, they may have run out of power, but if they could still get the box away, then they could all run and live to fight another day. "POLLY, GET THE BOX! GET THE BOX!"
"On it!"
Polly dashed away, faster than one would expect for someone who just grew new appendages. Fallen Andrias was about to fire his tentacle lasers, but Polly was too close to the music box pedestal and could not risk hitting such a small target with his attacks. "GRRR! STOP THAT LITTLE BRAT!"
Polly was channeling her inner Amp as she ran, dodging the laser beams of the robots that were standing in her way. She stumbled again, nearly falling over, but she managed to correct herself by hopping in the air, flipping around, and then kept on running at full speed. Two of the robots blocked her path, but Polly slid under one of them. She jumped straight up at the chest of the second, vaulted off it just in time for the first robot to shoot through the second's chest, jumped onto the first's head, and jumped off that just before the second robot fired its laser in a last-ditch effort to hit her, but only ended up blowing off the head of the first robot.
Both robots exploded just as Polly landed on the pedestal and grabbed the box, lifting it off its perch. "GOT IT!"
As soon as she did that, the glow of the pedestal faded, and the entire castle rumbled as it slowly began its descent.
"YES!" Anne exclaimed.
"Way to go, Polly!" Marcy cheered.
"Not so fast." The others turned towards Fallen Andrias, and gasped when they saw him. "You've all got spunk, real chutzpah. But this ends now." Fallen Andrias had Sprig coiled in one of his tentacles.
"Guys don't listen to this bully! I'll be fine!" Sprig stated.
"Admirable, but we'll see won't we." Fallen Andrias extended his tentacle out the window, holding Sprig aloft. "Now, put back the box or this twerp learns how to fly the hard way."
"ANNE, DON'T! AAH!" Sprig groaned as Fallen Andrias tightened his grip on him.
"SPRIG! Polly, do what he says! Please!" Anne begged.
Polly had no choice, she didn't want Fallen Andrias to win, but neither did she want to see her brother get killed. So, reluctantly, she placed the music box back on the pedestal, powering the castle back up and stopping its descent. Polly rushed back to her family and friends, standing next to Hop Pop as she glared angrily at Fallen Andrias. But that glare only lasted a moment before she saw Frobo's mechanical head and hugged tearfully.
"Frobo…"
"Okay, dude, you have what you want. Now, please, put him down. He's my best friend, no, more than that, he's like the brother I never had! So, please, just let him go," Anne pleaded.
"Anne," said Sprig with tears in his eyes.
Fallen Andrias glanced at Sprig before returning his gaze to Anne. "That's the funny thing about friends and family, isn't it? The more you love them, the more it hurts when they go." All six of his eyes narrowed as he added, "Allow me to demonstrate."
Fallen Andrias, the mad king, released his hold on Sprig, and let him fall.
"SPRIG!" Polly and Hop Pop screamed.
"No…" Marcy whispered in shock.
"You…freakin' asshole!" Sasha spat.
But Anne, she remained silent. Too stunned, to say anything. Sprig…no…please no…not him. The world around her went dark, as if the world itself lost all its color the moment the mad king let him fall to his death. Anne fell to her knees and forearms as the tears started to flow. She sobbed uncontrollably, she just saw her surrogate little brother get dropped from a castle floating thousands of feet in the air, and she couldn't do anything to save him.
Memories started to come back to Anne. The first time she met Sprig.
"You're a hero! An ugly, ugly, ugly hero!"
The words he spoke to her to snap her out of her stupor when Sasha talked her down.
"For someone who's Anne's best friend, you sure don't know her very well. She's brave! She's smart! And most of all, she's not gonna be pushed around by a bully like you!"
"Thanks for believing in me, Sprig."
"SprAnne against the world."
The time that Sprig went through great lengths to get her and Marcy together.
How he tried to protect her against Sasha, believing that she was just going to hurt her in the end.
And one of the more serene moments she could remember. The two of them sitting outside at night, under the stars, reading by candlelight. Sprig fell asleep against her, at the time, she saw the little pink frog child as a good friend, but she had no idea how much she would come to bond with him, becoming more than friends, they were family now. And, maybe, at that time, she kind of saw that happening as she blew out the candle and carried her soon-to-be surrogate little brother back inside.
But those memories were just that, memories. No new ones will be made, because he was killed, because he killed Sprig. Where was the justice in that? Sprig had done nothing wrong; he was a fun loving, innocent kid, he didn't deserve to be thrown out a window to plummet to his death. And yet, here Andrias still stood, still here, still unpunished for his crimes. Anne scrunched her eyes as her fists tightened, and that's when she opened her eyes, and the blue azure glow returned to them, with the light completely overtaking her irises and pupils.
The blue gemstone on the Calamity Box began to flicker. The flickering intensified until the gemstone released a steady stream of light and energy that found its way back to Anne. The light wrapped itself around Anne Boonchuy, surrounding her in an aura of power. Now that their connection was reestablished, the light of the gemstone glowed brighter as even more of its power flowed back to Anne.
Fallen Andrias' eyes widened in shock when he saw this occurring. "No…it…it can't be! That's impossible! The power should've been returned to the gemstone!"
The robots were starting to get edgy; their sensors were registering a growing threat level with Anne and trained their laser cannons on her, but Marcy noticed this, and took the chance to make a break for it as she ran towards one of the broken windows. Some of the robots shot at her, but missed as she jumped out, but with her gone, they returned to the current threat.
"What's going on?!" Hop Pop asked.
"How should I know?! Maybe it's human thing?!" Grime guessed.
Anne slowly rose to her feet, and as she did, her hair changed colors. Becoming bright blue as the branches in her hair began to grow, blooming with leaves. The MetamorphRing TRI returned to her as she stared down Fallen Andrias.
"No…I think this is more like a Rider thing," said Sasha in awe.
"Henshin."
Anne pressed down on the two hip devices, but unlike before, no dome of lightning appeared, instead, her body glowed bright blue, making her body grow and age, and while still in energy form, the armor appeared over her body until Anne was back in Vengeance Mode, but the transformation was not over. The chest plate armor began to crack, along with the bracers and greaves, and in a flash of light, the armor shattered apart and revealed a whole new form. The black mesh had turned completely white, with the colored lines on her armor taking on a lighter shade of blue and were in different patterns. The bracers and greaves had slimmed down, and now had Amphibian runes carved into them. Amp's chest plate now had six lotus petals on either side of the glowing blue line that ran down the middle of her chest, on either side of that glowing line were six bands that had more rune engravings. At the top of the glowing line, right below her collarbone, was a gold-colored triangle stone, as opposed to when it was just completely black. The dragonfly crest was in a constant flared state as a flaming halo of energy wafted off Amp's helmet, and her energy scarf had taken on a darker hue, and was more energy based than lightning anymore. Anne was not about to see injustice be done; she was not about to let Fallen Andrias go unpunished for his crimes. That drive, that resolve, has evolved Amp's Super Form into its Final Form, Kamen Rider Amp Raging Heart: Justice Mode.
"Give him back. GIVE! HIM! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!"
The robots were about to fire, but a quick lash of Amp's energy scarf stopped that. There was a delayed reaction of two seconds before glowing lines indicating the cuts formed on the robots' bodies, making them explode. More of them readied their weapons, but Amp disappeared in with a thunderclap, zooming around the room before returning to the same spot she was at. The entire room erupted with multiple explosions as all the robots inside the throne room were destroyed before any of them realized Amp had moved.
Fallen Andrias glared at her and readied to attack, but yet again, she disappeared with a thunderclap. The mad king's six eyes scanned the area, trying to find her, but couldn't. "Where'd she go?!"
The answer was given to him when Amp punched him right in the face and out through the palace walls. Amp disappeared with another thunderclap and reappeared outside, getting right into an intercept path. Fallen Andrias regained his senses at the last second and managed to stop himself before he could get close to Amp. The mad king spat out some blood from his mouth and was surprised that she managed to get the drop on him, much less actually make that hurt at all. Fallen Andrias turned his tentacles into laser cannons and began unleashing a barrage at the young hero, but what was strange was, he was seeing the beams hit her, but it was if they were passing through her.
What?! Is this similar to Marcy's Super Form, can she be intangible as so long as she standing still? Fallen Andrias thought.
Amp decided to prove him wrong as she advanced on him at a speed he could register. The beams still passed through her body, but what Fallen Andrias did not realize was that Amp was not intangible, far from it, she was in fact moving so fast that it only appeared as if she was intangible. Another thunderclap roared as Amp disappeared, making Fallen Andrias nervous as to where she was going to appear. But that's when she appeared behind him, Fallen Andrias sensed her presence and whipped his tentacles around to hit her. But with graceful ease Amp jumped effortlessly from behind him and floated over his head for a moment before Fallen Andrias felt several strikes hit him in the blink of eye, tossing him towards the ground below.
Fallen Andrias managed to stop himself again but noticed that parts of his armor had human fist sized dents in it. "RAAAAAH! I WILL NOT BE BESTED BY A CHILD!" Fallen Andrias flew back up to meet Amp. He charged his tentacles, turning them into whips of pure violet-colored energy, and even coated his claws in that same energy.
The monster king attacked Amp with a flurry of claw swipes and tentacle lashes but Fallen Andrias was shown just how little Amp cared about his attacks as it appeared Amp put minimal effort into dodging his attacks, as if he were moving in slow motion to her, because he was. Amp's nervous system was super charged, her perception boosted to match, so her reaction time far exceeded his own by leaps and bounds. But she had enough of indulging him as she moved forward and pressed her hand against his chest. A bolt of lightning fired off from her hand and exploded at point blank range, sending Fallen Andrias spiraling backwards. Another thunderclap went off and Amp disappeared.
Fallen Andrias soon found himself getting blitzed from every direction in the air. From the outside, it looked as if multiple lightning strikes were attacking him, the air shaking with each resounding rumble of thunder that went off. However, to Fallen Andrias, despite being far slower than Amp, he could at least make out some afterimages of Amp in the lightning, but that was all, just after images of an after image.
Amp grabbed Fallen Andrias by the throat and took him for a ride straight into a mountain in the distance. Dragging him through the hard rock and granite, racking him against it as his face and body were assaulted by it. The hero of lightning tossed him like a ragdoll where he smashed through the peak of one of the adjacent mountains. Another thunderclap, and Amp managed to get ahold of all four his tentacles as she spun him around and tossed him, again, higher into the air, only for Amp to come in from high above and drive her knee into his gut. She jumped off him and came down with a spinning elbow into that same spot, causing Fallen Andrias to cough up purple blood.
Amp grabbed Fallen Andrias by his throat again as her eyes glowed bright azure. But the mad king took this chance to hit her with all he had, drawing in all his power into the crystal filament in his chest plate to fire it at point blank range and hopefully do some damage on this human monster. Amp looked down and saw the buildup of energy and then looked back up at him as if trying to say to him, "Really?"
The lightning Rider balled up her left fist and smashed it right into the crystal filament on Fallen Andrias' chest plate, causing it to explode and backfire, sending him flying back towards the floating castle. One last time, Fallen Andrias stopped himself in midair, and conjured his hard-light shield at full power, creating an all-encompassing barrier to give himself time to think of a way to stop her.
Amp was not about to give him that chance as she channeled her power into her right leg and transformed into a bolt of lightning as she struck his shield head on with a Rider Kick. Fallen Andrias roared in defiance as he poured all he had into maintaining the shield. However, Amp could feel something was off, the glow of her power flickered a bit, and her body was starting to hurt the longer she continued. But she was going to make Fallen Andrias hurt more. Amp poured more of her power into the Rider Kick and released a powerful burst of energy that took the shape of a lotus flower and shattered the shield, but that wasn't the only thing it shattered. The Fallen form he had taken shattered apart like fragile glass as he was kicked out of it and sent flying back into the throne room where he impacted against a pillar.
Everyone watched in stunned silence as Amp reappeared in the throne room, her aura raging around her body with some of the strands resembling lotus petals. White sparkles of energy could be seen coming off the eyes of her helmet, as if her power was showing her sadness. But unfortunately, this new powered form did not last long as the armor dispersed and returned Anne to her civilian form, but her aura and hair were still there.
"Give him back…Give him…back…"
Anne finally succumbed to the strain of her new power and collapsed onto her back, returning to normal.
Andrias, despite nearly getting killed by this human girl, managed to chuckle in relief as he took out his beam sword. "Heh, looks like she can't quite control it."
Hop Pop and Polly ran to Anne's side, worried for her as they knew that transforming took a lot of stamina and put strain on her body, but with that form, there was no doubt that it took a toll on her.
"Come on, Anne, get up," said Hop Pop.
"Anne!"
That voice brought Anne back to consciousness, it was a voice she thought she'd never hear again, along with Hop Pop and Polly. That's when all three of them watched as Sprig came running towards them, his face contorted in worry for his surrogate big sister.
"Sprig…? SPRIG!" Anne exclaimed in happiness as he jumped into her arms and hugged her tight. Hop Pop and Polly hugged Sprig, too, overjoyed by the fact that their family was whole again.
"You're alive! You're alive! Thank goodness, Sprig! Wait, but how did you…?"
"It was Marcy! She and Joe Sparrow saved me before I could hit the ground!" Sprig explained.
"Marcy…she…"
"Anne, can you walk?" Sprig asked.
"I don't…I don't know, I–"
"I have to admit, even I'm surprised." Polly, Sprig, Hop Pop, and Anne looked up as the shadow of King Andrias was cast upon them, with the tyrant holding his sword in his left hand and ready to put an end to them. "Somehow, you've still got the gift kid. Which means I can't let you live."
The sound of the castle powering down caught everyone off guard, along with the jostling of the castle from beginning its descent, again. Andrias quickly looked behind him and saw that Marcy had taken the Calamity Box and managed to create a portal with it.
"Please work! Please work! Please work!" she prayed.
"WHAT?! NO!" Andrias shouted as he readied to stop her.
Sasha and Grime got in his way, with Grime ready with his Warhammer, and Sasha igniting the blades of her heron swords as her eyes glowed their magenta color.
Barrel! Even from beyond the grave, you're still getting in my way! Andrias thought.
"ME AND GRIME WILL HOLD HIM OFF! JUST GO!" Sasha ordered.
"Wait! We need to go together," said Anne.
Andrias brought down his sword, but Sasha used both of hers to catch the blade in the middle of the "X". Grime came in with the Warhammer, making Andrias have to fall back or risk getting hit, and in his current state, their attacks would be somewhat effective against him.
"DON'T ARGUE WITH ME, JUST GO! PLANTARS, GET HER OUT OF HERE!" Sasha yelled as she went to engage Andrias.
"But–!"
"Anne, we gotta go!" Polly urged.
"Sasha and Grime are givin' us this chance! You girls are too tired and weak from all the fightin' to do anythin' right now! Live to fight another day, Anne," said Hop Pop.
Anne looked at Sasha, who then smiled back at her.
"Don't you dare think I'm not going to see you again; I never give up! And neither will you! So go!"
"Anne! Listen to her," said Sprig.
Anne gritted her teeth until she finally relented, "Give me a hand, my legs are weak right now."
Hop Pop and Sprig gladly helped Anne to her feet as they began hurrying her along to the portal that Marcy opened, with Polly dragging Frobo's head behind her.
"Quick! Into the portal, everyone! Hurry," said Marcy.
Andrias swung with his beam sword at Sasha, forcing to fall backwards and roll out of the way. Grime dodge rolled under the swing, ending up on Andrias' right as he raised his hammer and struck him in the side, and then bringing it back down on his leg, forcing Andria's to bend the knee. The large newt king groaned painfully and retaliated by backhanding Grime, swatting him, and sending Grime flying backwards. Sasha ignited her swords again slashing a flaming "X" into the air and launching it straight for Andrias. The mad king used his beam sword and slashed down the middle, he struggled for a moment, but was able to cut through the flaming "X", but Sasha used that as an opening to come down with both blades to cut his head off. But Andrias jumped back at the last second, making her miss. The king spun around and tail whipped Sasha, throwing in the same direction as he did Grime.
"THE BOX, NO! I WON'T LOSE IT AGAIN!" Andrias bellowed.
Anne, Sprig, Polly, Hop Pop, and Frobo's head were halfway into the portal, with Anne shouting, "MARCY, HURRY!"
"Hang on! I just need to–!"
Marcy went silent.
The whole room was silent save for the humming of the portal.
Sasha managed to regain her senses after getting hit by Andrias' tail, but when she did, she witnessed a horrible sight.
Andrias was behind Marcy, his beam sword thrust forward as the tip of the blade was now jutting out of Marcy's chest.
Fresh tears began falling from Anne's eyes as she was at a loss for words. This had to be a bad dream, this could not be happening, Marcy…Marcy was stabbed.
Andrias furrowed his brow as he said, "Now look what you made me do…"
"Marcy…Marcy, please, talk to me," said Anne, desperately.
Marcy's eyes started to cry as she looked at Anne. "Anne…I…I'm sorry…for everything…I…I love you all…"
"MARCY!"
Andrias withdrew his blade, and as soon as he did, Marcy fell to the floor, releasing the music box. It bounced on the ground once, activating its power as it released a blinding, brilliant flash of light that washed out everything before their eyes. Silence once again overcame their senses, but that did not last long as Anne started to hear something familiar. As her senses returned, Anne looked up to see blue skies, and the sounds she was hearing were honking car horns. Anne sat up straight up as she looked around and saw that she was now on the freeway, surrounded by cars as far as she could see.
The Plantars regained consciousness as well as all four of them realized they were atop the hood of a car, turning around to look through the windshield and seeing a family of three staring at them with surprise, while the husband in the car snapped a picture of them.
"Oh, my Frog! W-Where are we?!" Sprig asked.
"What is this place?" Hop Pop inquired.
The cars, the tall skyscrapers, there was no mistaking it.
"Home…"
