On a Thursday afternoon, David was busy putting away his freshly washed clothes when his mom entered his room.

"Hey, son, are you busy?" his mom asked with a warm smile, leaning against the door frame.

"Nah," David replied, a hint of amusement in his voice as he neatly arranged his socks.

"Can you do me a favor and take your sister Lisa trick-or-treating tomorrow?" his mom requested, her eyes filled with hope.

"Sure, but why can't you do it?" David inquired, pausing for a few seconds before meeting her gaze.

"I might be coming home late tomorrow from work," his mom explained, briefly glancing at her phone with a touch of concern.

"Is work really the only reason you might be late tomorrow?" David asked mischievously, a playful smile creeping across his face.

"What are you talking about?" his mom replied, her gaze fixed on him, a mixture of surprise and curiosity.

"Well, the way you've been talking about your female supervisor lately might say otherwise," David said, his smirk widening as he locked eyes with his mom.

"I don't know what you're talking about, son," his mom responded, crossing her arms in a defensive gesture.

"Hey, I'm not one to judge. I'm just saying," David replied nonchalantly, putting away his laundry basket inside the closet.

"Either way, your sister Ana is going to her friend's house tomorrow for the weekend, so you don't have to worry about picking her up. And Lisa's costume is hanging on the closet door with her basket, just help her put it on," his mom said, still looking at him and swiftly changing the topic.

"Alright, thanks for letting me know," David replied, slipping on his shoes and preparing to head out.

"You're going to Armando's, right?" his mom asked, observing him as he readied himself.

"Yeah," David confirmed, sliding his phone into his pocket.

"Well, take care of yourself," his mom said, a touch of concern in her voice, before leaving to attend to other tasks. David finished getting ready and then left the house.

After David picked up Armando, they made their way towards their warehouse where they prepared their deliveries for the day.

"Liz and I are going to take our little brothers trick-or-treating. You can come along if you want," Armando offered while packing some weed into a small bag.

"Nah, that's cool. I don't want to be a third wheel, and I might have someone else to go with," David replied teasingly, continuing with what he was doing.

"Alright, but if you change your mind, the offer still stands," Armando said, leaving the invitation open.

For the rest of the afternoon, they completed their deliveries without any major issues, except for one guy who attempted to rip them off but ended up getting a beating instead.

The next day, after finishing school, David found himself once again at Dexter's house, patiently waiting for the time to arrive so he could pick up his young sister from school.

"You doing anything tonight for Halloween?" David asked, sitting with Dexter and sipping on a cup of water.

"Yeah, I'm going to Douglas's place for a movie marathon. Why?" Dexter replied, taking another sip of water.

"I'm taking my little sister trick-or-treating. I hoped you'd come, but it's cool, I'll think of someone else," David said, tucking his phone into his pocket.

"What about Armando?" Dexter inquired, toying with his cup.

"Him and Liz are going together, taking their little brothers. I didn't want to be a third wheel," David said, also starting to fiddle with his cup, a hint of disappointment in his voice.

"I see your problem," Dexter said, empathetically, just as his mom entered the kitchen.

"Hey boys, what are y'all doing here?" Mrs. Dexter asked, walking over to grab a cup of water.

"Nothing, just talking about Halloween," Dexter replied, glancing at his mom.

"I see. And what are you doing for it, David?" Mrs. Dexter inquired, taking a sip from her cup and directing her gaze towards David.

"Taking my little sister trick-or-treating," David responded, taking a sip from his water bottle, a tinge of excitement.

"By yourself?" Mrs. Dexter asked, curious about David's plans.

"Yeah, most of my friends already have plans," David replied.

"Well, why don't I accompany you so you're not by yourself?" Mrs. Dexter suggested, a warm smile spreading across her face.

"Really?" David and Dexter exclaimed simultaneously, their confusion evident.

"Yeah, why not? After all, Deedee is going to the costume party, and you, son, are going to your friend's for the movie marathon. It's been a long time since I went trick-or-treating," Mrs. Dexter said, her smile growing wider as she looked at both of them, a hint of excitement in her eyes.

"I guess it's better than staying home," Dexter said, playfully, attempting to lighten the mood.

"Yeah, it really does," Mrs. Dexter agreed, a small smile playing on her lips.

"Finally got tired of staying home?" David chimed in, humor lacing his words, as he picked up his phone to check the time, receiving a nod of acknowledgment from Mrs. Dexter.

"What is she going as, if you don't mind me asking?" Mrs. Dexter inquired, looking at David with curiosity.

"She's going as a fairy. And is this neighborhood good for trick-or-treating?" David asked, glancing at both of them, hoping to hear their thoughts on the matter.

"Yeah, this is a good neighborhood for it," Dexter confirmed, a nostalgic smile crossing his face as he recalled the times he had collected loads of candy.

"Okay then, I'll come by later as I have to go and pick up my little sister from school," David said, standing up and taking a final sip of his water.

"We'll see you around, man," Dexter said, also rising from his seat and finishing his water.

"Just knock on the door when you get here later," Ms Dexter instructed, walking David out and holding the door for him.

"Will do. See you later," David said, making his way to his truck and driving away towards his sister's school.

After picking up his sister from school, David brought her back to their house. They played together for a while, eagerly awaiting the time to go trick-or-treating. When the time finally arrived, David helped his little sister put on her costume, ensuring she looked perfect. They then set off towards Dexter's house to begin their Halloween adventure.

"So, are we here?" Lisa asked, excitement twinkling in her eyes as she hopped out of the backseat of the truck, her gaze fixed on the houses adorned with Halloween decorations.

"Yes, we're here, but first, we need to pick up one of my friends," David replied, closing the truck door.

David tightly held Lisa's hand as they walked towards Dexter's front door. He knocked a few times. What he saw when the door opened took him completely by surprise. It was Mrs. Dexter, dressed as an angel, with a subtle touch of makeup that enhanced her beauty. David's heart skipped a beat, leaving him momentarily speechless. He could only stare at her in awe as she opened the door. It wasn't until Lisa shook his hand, bringing him back to the present moment, that he regained his composure.

"Hey, brother, you okay?" Lisa asked, concerned as she looked up at her brother.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I just didn't expect to see an angel in front of me," David replied, smiling down at his sister. Meanwhile, Ms. Dexter chuckled in the background, enjoying the lighthearted moment.

"So, are you ready to go?" Ms. Dexter asked, closing the door behind her.

"Yeah, let me introduce you two first," David said, introducing Lisa to Ms. Dexter. To his delight, they hit it off instantly, making him feel even more at ease. With introductions out of the way, they set off together to enjoy a night of trick-or-treating, a sense of excitement and warmth filling the air.

"Doesn't Amber's costume look beautiful on her, brother?" Lisa said, sandwiched between David and Ms. Dexter as they walked, beaming at her brother.

"Yes, it does," David replied, feeling a mix of nervousness and admiration for Ms. Dexter's attire.

"Thank you both for the compliment," Ms. Dexter said, her smile widening as she glanced at them.

"So, what brought about the idea for you to wear a costume?" David asked, speaking a little low for Ms. Dexter's ears only, his curiosity piqued.

"I didn't want your sister to be the only one with a costume tonight," Ms. Dexter replied playfully, a hint of mischief in her voice.

"Well, you did a fantastic job, and if people mistake us for parents, we'll just go along with it. I've discovered it's quite enjoyable that way," David said, looking at Ms. Dexter with a warm smile.

"Thanks, and I'll take your word for it," Ms. Dexter responded with a nod, their playful banter creating a bond of camaraderie and shared laughter.

As the night of trick-or-treating progressed, the three of them had a blast moving from house to house, enjoying the Halloween festivities. They received compliments on their costumes and relished every moment. When their adventure came to an end, David kindly carried Lisa back to Ms. Dexter's house, as she had grown weary from all the walking. Within minutes, she dozed off peacefully on his shoulder.

"I'm sure she'll be overjoyed when she wakes up tomorrow and sees the incredible amount of candy she collected tonight," Ms. Dexter exclaimed happily as she carefully carried Lisa's overflowing candy basket.

David smiled warmly and replied, "Absolutely! And I hope you had a fantastic time as well."

Ms. Dexter's face lit up with a small smile as she responded, "Oh, I definitely did! After such a long time of just staying at home, it felt wonderful to be out and about again, enjoying the Halloween spirit."

"I see what you mean, and we should definitely seize these opportunities while she's still young," David said, playfully teasing.

"You're absolutely right. We need to make the most of these moments while we still can," Ms. Dexter replied, a genuine smile spreading across her face.

David chuckled and added, "Who knows? Maybe next time, I'll even join in and dress up too! Just to keep the fun going."

"You should totally do it, and it would be even more fun if we all matched our costumes together," Ms. Dexter teased, giving David a playful look.

David raised an eyebrow, pretending to be serious, and replied, "You know I was just joking earlier, right?"

Ms. Dexter laughed and playfully retorted, "Oh, don't worry! I'll make sure to tell your sister about this idea, and then we'll see if you still think it's just a joke." She smiled mischievously as David couldn't help but sulk with a playful grin, knowing she had caught him in her good-natured trap.

"You're quite the mischievous one, Amber," David remarked, looking at her with a mixture of fondness and amusement, their laughter filling the air.

Ms dexter shrugged playfully and replied, "I guess I am! Keeps life interesting, doesn't it?"

As they arrived at Ms dexter house, David stated, "Well, here we are." They walked together to his truck, ready to bid each other goodbye for the night.

"She was absolutely exhausted," Ms. Dexter observed, her eyes filled with affectionate concern, as she watched David gently lay his sleeping sister on the backseat of his truck. Lisa's candy basket was placed nearby, a testament to their successful night of trick-or-treating.

"Yeah, she won't be waking up until tomorrow," David replied, closing the truck door softly. He then walked Ms. Dexter to her front door, offering her his support.

Ms. Dexter smiled gratefully and said, "Thank you for inviting me to celebrate with you and your sister tonight. I genuinely had a wonderful time."

"You're welcome, and by the way, I didn't get to mention last time I dropped you off—you're definitely a good kisser," David playfully remarked, a mischievous smile on his face as he walked back to his truck. He drove off, leaving Ms. Dexter momentarily caught off guard by his unexpected comment.

After collecting herself from David's lighthearted joke, Ms. Dexter couldn't help but smile and giggle to herself. She went inside her house, closing the door behind her, and made her way to her room. Changing into her comfortable sleepwear, she called it a night, cherishing the fond memories of the evening as she drifted off to sleep.

As David arrived home, he gently carried his slumbering sister from the backseat, cradling her in his arms with great care. Upon entering the house, he spotted his mom sitting on the couch, engrossed in watching TV while sipping wine, with a few snacks spread on the nearby table. He offered her a warm smile before making his way to his sister's room.

In her cozy bedroom, David tenderly placed his sister on her bed. His mom followed behind, pulling the blanket up to cover her lovingly, and she leaned down to give Lisa a soft kiss on the forehead. The display of affection between mother and daughter warmed David's heart.

With a sense of reassurance, David and his mom quietly stepped out of Lisa's room, leaving her to rest peacefully.

"I can see that you both had a successful night," his mom remarked, closing the door behind her and casting a proud gaze at the candy-filled basket that David was holding.

"Yeah, we had a blast while collecting all of these treats," David replied, a hint of joy in his voice, as he handed his sister's candy basket to his mom.

"That's wonderful to hear. I'll keep this safe for her," his mom said, accepting the basket with a warm smile, knowing how much joy it would bring to Lisa.

"More like eat some and take," David playfully teased his mom, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

His mom responded with a mock stern expression, saying, "No, it's more like helping her avoid getting cavities."

Chuckling, David replied, "Well, whatever you say. Goodnight, Mom." With a loving smile, he leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead before making his way to his room. There, he changed into his comfortable clothes and settled down for the night, feeling content and grateful for the joyful moments shared with his family.
