"Good morning Graham."

"Morning Ace," Ace is at the stove making the three of them breakfast when Ryan stumbles into the room.

"Morning Ryan."

"Whatever."

Getting used to Ryan waking up over the past couple of weeks, "what's wrong Ryan?"

"Didn't sleep well.''

"Sorry."

"Eh, it happens sometimes."

Ace starts to plate the food, "I have an idea on what to do tonight, the three of us can watch a movie together."

"Where," asks Graham.

"Here of course, I have a selection, or Ryan can go and rent a movie that he thinks we all would like."

"Want to get rid of me."

Ace's eyes go wide, "no, I think you should meet up with your friends instead of hanging around a few middle-aged adults."

Ryan looks at both Graham and Ace, "ok I will go in the afternoon after I see if they are free."

"Good, you did want to leave the TARDIS, to spend time with them anyway," Graham smiles at Ryan.

Ryan thought to himself, 'little did you know a few years after leaving; you would meet someone who likes you, and you like her.'

A few hours later Ryan had left the house, Ace told him to borrow her car. "So just the two of us."

"Yep, just the two of us, it hasn't been like this since the car ride."

"You are right,'' they look at each other and bust out laughing, "why is it so awkward, it's not like we haven't been alone before."

"From the first time we met to almost every weekend since almost every weekend since." Their minds go back to when Graham was in the hospital, Ace remembering that she started to confront her feelings for the man next to her and Graham with his conversation with Grace.

"Graham?"

"Yes Ace?"

"Tell me something about Grace."

"You sure?"

"Yes, I love your stories about Grace."

Graham smiles, "the moment I got to ring the bell after being cancer free, I started to talk to Grace. I didn't really talk during my treatments, she was telling me all about Ryan. We started to go out not long after that. About two months later we were married. Ryan didn't like me for years. I tried connecting with him. The first time he called me Grandad was after Grace died."

"You two are close now."

"Traveling with the Doctor did that."

"I am glad."

"Me too, now tell me a story about something from your past."

"I guess you should know about one of the times the Doctor played mind games on me."

"They did what?"

"It was to protect me in the end from being evil."

"You could never be evil Ace."

"Thank you, but let me start the story. The Doctor and I land in an army base in the early 1940s, where we are greeted by soldiers. The Doctor and I are able to confuse them, and have them take us to one of the code breaking machines. The guy in charge of them had one of the flip flop logic games we had in school. He was shocked that I knew about them. I met some girls that were around my age, when we went to the local lake, they went in and I refused. I eventually met my grandmother and my mum as a baby. I even held her."

"You held your mum as a baby."

"I did. It is a good thing I didn't go into the water at that point. It turned them into Haemovores, sorta like vampires." Ace sees his smile, decides to go with her story. "Eventually Fenric gets out and takes over not only the man but a Russian soldier that I had a thing for. The Doctor had to make me lose my faith in him, since I was a descendant of Fenric. I created my own future by sending my Gran to where I knew she lived when I was a kid before she died."

"What did the Doctor say to make you lose your faith in them?"

Ace leans over and grabs his hand, "you are not going to like this."

"Why?"

"He said, I still can't believe I remember it word for word. 'She couldn't even pass her chemistry exams at school, and yet she manages to create a time storm in her bedroom. I saw your hand in it from the very beginning. She's an emotional cripple. I wouldn't waste my time on her, unless I had to use her somehow."

"Next time I see them."

"Don't do anything. I was like 17 when it happened. He said he had to do that, since he was the first person I had faith in."

"He had no right."

"The Doctor will say anything to protect the greater good."

"What he said hurt a great woman."

"You think I am great?"

"I think you are more than great." They sit there smiling at the other.

"I met Mary Shelley."

"You did?"

"Yep, I was wanting food. It was a wet night."

"How was that night?"

"Long and the Doc didn't take Capt Jack's advice to beware the lone Cyberman. We eventually lost her for 10 months. Yaz had troubles getting back to normal life, Ryan and I had no problems. I started to get regular check ups again. Before we lost her I told her I was afraid of getting cancer again. She didn't know what to say."

"I don't want it to happen, but I will be there every step of the way."

"Thank you."

"When was the last time you had a check up?"

"The day before everything happened," Graham's eyes went wide, "I should call my doctor."

"Call, I will be right here."

Graham gets out his phone, "hello this is Graham O'Brien, I am calling for Dr. Richardson."

"One moment." The receptionist transfers that call.

"Hello, Mr. O'Brien, I am assuming this is for your results?"

"It is."

"Ok, let me pull them up real quick," he gets put on hold, Ace tries to give a comforting smile, "ok, I have them right here, Mr. O'Brien, everything looks fine."

"Thank you, enjoy your day."

"You too." They hang up.

"Everything is good."

"Good." Ryan comes in at that moment to see Ace jumping up and giving Graham a hug.

"What is going on?"

"I am still cancer free."

"Good, I picked up Top Gun Maverick."

Later that night, Ryan decides to sit in the recliner so Ace and Graham will be forced to sit on the couch together. When he sees them put some popcorn in between them he sighs. As the movie goes on their hands brush often as they each reach for popcorn. By the end of the movie Ace is slightly snoring on the couch. The popcorn bowl long ago left on the table in front of the couch. Her feet are on Graham's lap, her head on the arm of the couch.

Ryan looks over to them to see how relaxed Graham looks. "Hey, Grandad," Ryan whispers.

"Yes?"

"Follow me." Graham gently moves Ace's feet and smiles at her sleeping form before following his Grandson. They arrive at Graham's room as it is closest to the living room. "When are you making your move?"

"Watcha mean?"

"I know you like her and it's clear to me she likes you."

"I," none of them know that Ace has woken up and is following the voices, "like her, well more than like her, but even though I was in my coma and talked to your Gran, I still feel bad for falling for someone." Ace's head hits the door, both Ryan and Graham look at it, Graham starts to the door, when he opens up he sees no one there.

"Graham, Gran would want you to be happy and with someone who would love you. I can see Ace being that one."

"I know, I can see it too."

"Then why don't you ask her out?"

"I want to be better first, so she knows I like her for her and not all what she has been doing for me."

"I see."

Upstairs, "come on Tegan pick up."

"Hello?"

"Took you long enough."

"What's wrong Ace?"

"Graham likes me."

"Duh, I have been telling you that for how long now.?

"I don't know?"

"How about from the first Companion Support Group Meeting, he kept looking at you, or the times all four of us have shared dinner."

"Uh."

"Ace, everyone can tell that you like each other and more than just friends. What happened?"

"The three of us were watching a movie and I fell asleep next thing I know I feel my feet moving. I hear some talking and follow it. Ryan was asking Graham when he was going to ask me out."

"I have been telling you that."

"And I have been telling you, I want to wait until he's ready. And Graham told Ryan that he liked me."

"Anything else?"

"While in his coma, he talked to Grace, even though Grace encouraged him, he feels guilty."

"Oh, now I see your panic."

"What do you mean?"

"You are competing with."

"I am not, I ask Graham about Grace all the time, she was a wonderful woman."

"Ace."

"What."

"You are not going to like what I am going to say."

"What."

"Even though you love Graham."

"What!?"

"Oh honey, it is clear as day. You may want to distance yourself for a bit."

"I will not do that. He makes me laugh, and I am comfortable with him. Today I told him about Fenric."

"You haven't really told me much about that."

"I know."

"Is there anything I can do besides distance myself?"

"I guess be patient."

"I can do that."

"But Ace."

"Yes."

"Please be careful, love like this can break your heart. You may not know what happened after Nyssa left the TARDIS, but I wasn't myself for a while, and grew tired of it all and left the TARDIS myself."

"I will."

"Good, you know if anytime you need to talk, Nyssa and I are here."

With a smile on her face, "I know and thank you, I should probably get to bed now."

"Me too, I was preparing for it when you called. Goodnight Ace."

"Goodnight Tegan, give Nyssa my love."

"I will." Ace hangs up and goes to bed with pleasant dreams.
