Special thanks to the folks on pa-atreon for making this possible. Now without further ado let's get into it.

Lips, soft plump lips pressing into mine were all I felt as I was swiftly roused from the spheres of unconsciousness. What the fuck happened to me? I looked up at the girl leaning over me, her face a crimson scarlet in the sunlight.

"Sorry, I was told kissing people was guaranteed to wake them up." It took me a few more seconds to place the face and the voice together and understand who exactly I was speaking to.

"NUrse Joy?" I asked in shock, looking at the girl, about my age who looked exactly like a nurse Joy.

"Oh, not yet. I'm going to be one, though. Make the family proud and all that" I nodded, noticing that I was still laid on the ground, and confused as to what was going on. It was in that moment that I noticed the chaos around us. People were screaming and crashes could be heard all around the city. What the fuck was going on?

Perhaps she could see the question on my face because her next words answered my question. "Cinnabar has been attacked, Mr. Oak. I was on my way to one of the shelters when I noticed you knocked out here. You're a strong trainer aren't you? You can help." She said with such confidence that I had no choice but to believe her.

Besides, there's no way I'd stand by and do nothing. As we spoke, a brawly Magmar crashed through the house next to us, standing still and looking at us with a fierce savagery one rarely saw from pokemon who lived so close to cities.

"Thank you for waking me." I said to her with a smile as I got on my feet and turned to face the pokemon still staring at us. No idea what it was waiting for, but I could care less. The dead bodies around us told me exactly what these pokemon had come for. "Go to the shelter. Run, don't look back. I've got this" I said with complete confidence.

Two pokeballs appeared in my hands, and with a single motion, Ino and Igneel took to the field. 'Get the rest of the team and come find us' I told Ino with our psychic connection and she nodded before disappearing. I could feel her presence in my mind trying to understand what was happening and I happily fed her my memories of the conversation I just finished, trusting her to do whatever it took to get the team together.

Igneel needed no briefing, he saw an enemy in front of me, and after getting a nod to proceed from me, he charged. "Don't stretch this out. We've got more opponents to deal with" I shouted after him, and he listened.

His dragon rush was dodged, but he used it to get into position, tripping his opponent with a swipe of his tail and driving it into the ground in a blur of motion. I smiled as a dragon rage from his mouth knocked out his opponent.

All in all, the battle, if you could even call it that, had taken less than a minute. Igneel wasn't keen to settle down for an extra second though, moving straight down the street at another Magmar. This one looked a bit stronger, but similarity presented little challenge to an angry fire dragon. I guess he'd noticed that he'd been skipped over for the gym challenge. Wasn't looking forward to quelling that issue at all. After dispatching that one, Igneel turned back to me and rushed straight at me. Only my trust in my pokemon allowed me to stay still in the face of such a threat. My trust paid off as he flew right by me, crashing into a Magby that had been attempting to sneak up on me. This one was much less lucky than his evolved counterparts. Threatening my life was practically guaranteed to piss Igneel off even further.

A fist surrounded in gleaming white energy speared through the young pokemon's head and I resisted the urge to flinch. Only a fool would show that kind of weakness to an enraged dragon. Igneel was on my team, but he still was what he was. A dragon. I felt my link with Ino and noted that she was being delayed on her way to the pokeball. She guaranteed me that she didn't need any help completing her assigned mission so I chose to trust in her and make my way to the docks. Igneel had already communicated to me that the bulk of the fighting was concentrated there. I was a few steps in when I changed my mind. Whatever trainers were on the Island were undoubtedly at the docks, fighting the pokemon as they appeared, so while there would be more opportunities for violence over there, I wasn't needed. Not yet, at least.

For contrast, there were small pockets of chaos all around the city, people dying on every corner. My next choices were obvious. Igneel roared in agreement as I got on his back and we sped straight at the first attacking pokemon. It was a Manky that just finished punching an old lady to death and was keen to do the same to the little girl hiding behind her. I jumped off Igneel's back as he sped at it, managing to land without breaking anything by bracing for it. I watched in pride as he slammed into the fighting type, hurling it back, and bathing it in a massive flamethrower. He was done in seconds. "I'm sorry, kid. Run to the shelter" was all I could bring myself to say to the child before we moved to the next hotspot. It wasn't the best way to save a child, but I'd done the most efficient thing. Staying to take care of the child meant prioritising her over all the other lives I could save on the Island. Instead, I'd give her an equal opportunity to save herself.

The next people in danger were threatened by a Tentacruel of all things. How the fuck did one of those get so far in land. I didn't bother getting of Igneel's back this time, as he wasn't the pokemon that would be taking care of this one. He sulked at it, but we didn't have the time to waste on a type disadvantaged matchup.

Magnezone appeared in the space next to us, confused as always. "Thunderbolt" was all I said and he carried out my orders by instinct, blasting the Tentacruel without even thinking about it. "Again" I commanded as the water type struggled to get up from the surprise attack. The second bolt of electricity knocked it out, and I returned him to his ball before he could get distracted, taking off on Igneel's back the very next second.

We covered ground with frightening speed, managing to make it to the next attack in less than a minute. This time, Igneel bathed the Oddish in a massive flamethrower, killing it without even really stopping his movement to the next target.

XXXXX- INO

The Master had set me on this mission, and I'd be damned if I didn't complete it. I slashed my spoon like a sword and cut the manky jumping at me in twain. The Silph centre was under attack, and since I had no idea where the pokeballs were kept, I had to make my way through the entire complex. A Charmander roared at me and charged. How cute. A single dazzling gleam dispatched the pokemon. I spared its life of course. I did not kill children. The master might think himself good at hiding his feelings on the matter, but it was obvious to one as perceptive as I.

The pack of four houndour seemed to be the major threat of this floor, with one of them already saturating the place in so much dark type energy, that it became prohibitively difficult for me to teleport. Bad news for them then. The first one was sliced in twain with no difficulty. A blast of psychic energy sent two of them hurtling down the corridor. I dodged around the last one's attack, and focused my psychic energy for a few seconds. Senpai had been working with me on getting this particular move correctly, and I watched in pride as the houndour that had just tried to attack me dove straight at his compatriot that was charging back down the corridor.

The last one got a psybeam to the face, and a psycho cut to the neck once it was distracted by the first attack. I floated down the corridor, continuing my search for my comrades. They weren't in the storage unit, so the only other remaining option was the medical ward. It was also on the lowest level, so I'd had to cut through a veritable army of ants to get here. As I rounded the corner, I was faced with a horde of Beedrill. Annoying bugs. Master had said something about bug types not being able to survive in environments like this one, so I wondered where these ones had come from. Not for too long though, it mattered not, when they'd be dead in a few seconds. Great psychic energy, guided with my spoon as my focus, allowed me to crush them all into pulp. Even months into using this strange implement, I was still astounded by its power. Master disliked his father and for good reason, but the spoon in my hand was proof that when they came together, they could do wonders. For who would have thought that even species like mine that did not feel the eternal urge for foci could be served by forging foci of our own. My spoon was not silver like a fox's, but solid gold. Perhaps to show the worth that I had in my master's eyes. Nevertheless, the spoon was an exceptional focus. My previously middling telekinesis had been amplified and enhanced to the extent that the Fox claimed with time, I could even grow to match him. The words were not empty, for I could feel my power grow with the time. Soon, I would be a match for the best of the team, and I'd prove my master's faith in me to be worthwhile.

Slow to evolve I might have been, but my power would leave no question in any's mind. Master had asked what my goal was, and I'd told him all I wanted was for him to see his goals into fruition. While it is undoubtedly true, it still rings false to my ears for the bit I'd left out. I hungered, nay thirsted, for thirst was more burning that hunger, to be recognised as the strongest psychic to know this planet. The Foxes, the computers, the best and best of them all, I'd surpass all. Even the one in Master's memory that went by Mewtwo would pale in comparison to me. I'd shine better than them all at the end of the day. I'd reign supreme. After all, I was just starting out and already so powerful. What power I would hold in my prime. Enough of the fantasising though, Master has given me a task. I swept through the crowd of crushed bugs and made my way straight inside the lab. I ignored the humans crowded to the side. Doing nothing but using my telepathy to inform them that the pokemon in the facility had been disposed of and they were free to leave, before gathering the balls I knew contained members of the family and teleporting to master. I resisted the temptation to leave the ghost's ball behind by the closest of margins.

XXXXX- THE CHAMPION

My boredom was gone, now replaced by a sharp anger. Eight cities in Kanto, each one under attack. It was my duty as champion to see to all of them, but I was, but one man. Even I could not protect eight cities at the same time. Luckily, each of these cities had gym leaders and most of them were even competent. Celadon, Pewter and Cerulean were well protected by their respective leaders. Viridian was being seen to by a woman whose face I could not place. However, her Alakazam was a sight to behold as it crushed bugs with ease. Vermilion had been in dire straits but Samuel Oak had shown his face and that Dragonite of his was enough to make even the most ferocious of wild animals tremble in fear. Fuchsia was protected by Koga's own daughter. She showed why she was next in line to ascend the city's throne, as hers was the only city to suffer little to no damage. In a move that would no-doubt send Agatha into hysterics if she were here, Oak's son had taken charge of Cinnabar's defence.

Fire and water-types alike fell in droves to his team of unique monsters. I could see one of the cornerstones of his team was a fiery Charizard that looked to be more draconic than the rest of his species. No doubt Dragonite's progeny. I looked forward to the battle we'd have when he came for my throne. That was all secondary though, I'd have to get the region through this mess before we could even dream of having a conference. Saffron was my destination. The fighting type gym leader was trying and failing to stem the tide of psychics flowing into the city.

A league Alakazam appeared by my side as I snapped my fingers, and took me straight to the city's gym. Time for me to show my worth.

A/N; A bit short. Just even more of a transition to the violence to come. Thanks for reading. We're halfway done with Chapter 46 on the pa-atreon page. Feel free to join me there if you feel like supporting my work. Same username as up here. The link's on my profile.
