The dreaded end of war funeral takes place, then Bumblebee is promoted to warrior. He's been waiting for the day, but now it doesn't feel right. The team gets a surprise when the All Spark is dropped into the Well of Sparks.
The Autobots didn't want the reason for their human friends to come to Cybertron to be a funeral, but it wouldn't be right for their human friends not to attend. The kids, June and Fowler, dread this is the reason they're getting another day with their alien friends. Optimus struggles with his speech, a speech he knew he'd be giving — when (Y/N) died of old age. He never thought he'd be doing a funeral for Smokescreen during or after the war and definitely didn't think about a funeral for (C/N). Optimus dreads he must move things quickly.
The next day, after their human friends are back on Earth, Optimus gets right to talking about the future of Cybertron, and while they are still full of grief, it's time to promote Bumblebee. Bumblebee held off the tears until the others tried to congratulate him. Bumblebee drives off, unhappy; Optimus wants to leave him alone for a while but goes after him, not expecting bee to be at the hall of records.
"What is wrong?" Optimus asks as he sits next to Bumblebee.
"This shouldn't be happening. I get a promotion after a funeral that shouldn't have happened. First, we lost Cliffjumper, now rookie Smokescreen, and his family, who had a future ahead of them. Bumblebee leans on Optimus' chassis and cries. Optimus cannot stay strong and not cry himself.
Later, when Optimus brings the All Spark to the Well of Sparks, he watches sparks fly out of the well. The Autobots watch in awe at the beautiful sight. The moment turns to shock as they see Smokescreen's spark.
"I may not be with you, but I will always watch over you," he says, which surprises everyone,
Who knew a bot like him would say something like that? Arcee thinks, shocked.
Bumblebee cries, which brings Smokescreen's spark to nuzzle at his faceplate, "cheer up, warrior. So, how long before I watch you become a Prime?"
"Being a Prime is too much work; I can't handle that."
The Autobots laugh until they watch Smokescreen's spark follow the other sparks. Cybertron is alive again, and so are the memories of a friend.
