Chapter 9: Shadows and Heroes
***UNIVERSE 5 - DOOM'S CASTLE - LATVERIA***
As Kairi slowly regained consciousness, her vision blurred and disoriented. Her head throbbed with pain, a lingering reminder of the blow that had rendered her unconscious. As her surroundings gradually came into focus, she realized she was seated in the center of a vast and ominous throne room, its walls adorned with dark tapestries that seemed to absorb any hint of light. The room exuded an air of coldness and despair, matching the sinister atmosphere that hung heavily in the air.
Her heart pounded in her chest as she attempted to move, only to discover that her hands and feet were tightly bound to the cold, unforgiving chair. Panic gripped her, and she struggled against her restraints, but they held firm. It was then that she noticed the figure lurking in the shadows, a presence so foreboding that it sent a chill down her spine.
Emerging from the darkness, Doctor Doom, the ruler of Latveria, revealed himself. He sat upon his imposing throne, his armor gleaming with a malevolent aura, a symbol of his power and dominance. His eyes, hidden behind the cold, unyielding visage of his mask, stared intently at Kairi, seemingly dissecting every aspect of her being.
"You put up a better fight than most variant Keyblade wielders I have encountered in my years of conquest," Doom remarked, his voice carrying an undertone of arrogance and superiority. "But in the end, you were no match for me."
With her heart racing and mind tyring to make sense of the situation. Kairi kept thinking how had she ended up here, at the mercy of this tyrant? The gravity of the situation pressed down upon her, and she could feel a mixture of fear, anger, and determination welling up within her.
The room itself, a grand chamber within Doom's fortress, seemed to reflect the darkness that emanated from its ruler. The walls were adorned with intricate, yet haunting, tapestries that depicted scenes of conquest, suffering, and dominance. The flickering torches cast eerie shadows that danced across the cold stone floor, heightening the sense of unease that enveloped the room.
Kairi's gaze returned to Doom, her eyes meeting his piercing stare. She could see a glimmer of satisfaction in his expression, as if he relished the power he held over her. It sent shivers down her spine, but she refused to let fear consume her. She knew she had to stay strong, to find a way to escape and thwart Doom's nefarious plans.
Summoning her courage, Kairi spoke, her voice steady despite the fear that threatened to consume her. "What do you want from me, Doom? Why have you targeted me?"
Doom's cold smile widened ever so slightly beneath his mask, his eyes gleaming with a twisted delight at the prospect of explaining his grand plan to Kairi. His voice resonated with a sinister undertone as he revealed his intentions.
"What I seek, Kairi, is power. Not just any power, but the power to witness empires fall, to witness the mighty crumble before my very eyes," Doom declared, his voice laced with a mixture of arrogance and a hunger for supremacy. "The Time Variance Authority and their vaunted Time Keepers, they hold themselves up as the arbiters of order, but their reign is an illusion, a fragile construct that I intend to shatter."
Kairi's heart sank as Doom's words echoed in the air. She knew that his actions would have far-reaching consequences.
Doom leaned back in his throne, reveling in the atmosphere of power and control that surrounded him.
"Your power, Kairi, is a formidable force indeed," he stated, his voice dripping with an unsettling mix of admiration and malice. "But it is a power that should not be wasted in your feeble hands. It belongs to me, to be harnessed for a purpose far greater than your limited understanding can comprehend."
Kairi's hands clenched involuntarily, her frustration mounting. How could someone be so blinded by their own thirst for power that they would seek to twist something as pure and radiant as the light? She understood the importance of using her abilities responsibly, for the betterment of the worlds and the preservation of balance. But to Doom, it was merely a means to an end, a tool to further his own insidious agenda.
"I will never allow you to corrupt the light within me," Kairi declared, her voice filled with a resolute determination. "The power of the heart is not meant to serve darkness, but to bring hope, healing, and unity to those in need. I will fight against you and all who seek to exploit that power for their own selfish gain."
Doom's expression remained stoic, seemingly unaffected by her defiance. "You possess such spirit, Kairi," he remarked, his tone laced with a mixture of amusement and disdain. "But spirit alone cannot save you from the destiny that awaits. Your resistance is futile, and soon you will come to realise the futility of your futile struggle."
Kairi met Doom's cold, unyielding stare. "You underestimate the strength that lies within the light, Doom," she said, her voice filled with unwavering conviction. "And I will prove to you that it is a force far more powerful than any darkness you could ever conjure."
Laughter echoed through the throne room, filling the air with an unsettling sense of superiority. Doom's eyes glinted with a sinister delight as he regarded Kairi, his amusement seemingly unfathomable.
"Oh, Keyblade warrior," he chuckled darkly, "you misunderstand light you possess, the power of the heart, is merely a fraction of what I seek."
Kairi's brows furrowed in confusion. She had always believed that the light within her heart was a force of immeasurable strength, capable of dispelling darkness and bringing hope to those in need. But Doom's words hinted at something more profound, something she hadn't fully comprehended.
"Then what exactly do you want?" Kairi asked in confusion towards the tyrant, still feeling the binds across her hands and feet.
Doom's eyes gleamed with a twisted delight as he revealed his true intentions.
"And now, my dear Kairi, I shall share with you a revelation that will surely send shivers down your spine," he taunted, relishing in the surprise he was about to unleash. "You, the unsuspecting Princess of Heart, are not merely a Keyblade wielder or a Guardian of Light. No, you are something far more extraordinary. You are a Nexus being."
Kairi's heart skipped a beat as Doom's words hung in the air. The revelation hit her with an unexpected force, sending a chill down her spine. She had always known she possessed a special connection to the light, but to discover that she held a power that transcended the boundaries of time and space was beyond anything she could have imagined.
"What... What does that mean?" Kairi asked, her voice filled with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. "What is a Nexus being?"
Doom leaned back in his throne, his gaze fixed upon her with a mix of intensity and satisfaction. "A Nexus being, my dear, is a rare entity that exists at the very heart of the multiverse," he explained, his voice dripping with a dark allure. "They possess the ability to influence the flow of events, to shape the destinies of countless worlds and timelines."
As Doom spoke, Kairi's mind raced, trying to comprehend the magnitude of what he was saying. She had always believed in the power of connections and the impact of her actions on the worlds she visited. But to think that she held the potential to shape the very fabric of reality was both awe-inspiring and terrifying.
Doom continued, his words laced with a sinister fascination.
"Nexus beings possess a unique resonance with the fundamental forces that govern the multiverse. They are the threads that weave through the tapestry of existence, connecting and intertwining with countless possibilities and potentialities."
Kairi's thoughts swirled with questions. What did it mean for her to be a Nexus being? How had she come to possess such extraordinary power? And why was Doom so fixated on harnessing it for his own nefarious purposes?
"You, Kairi, hold the key to unlocking the true potential of the Nexus," Doom declared, his voice dripping with a sinister excitement. "Your connection to the light, your role as a guardian of hearts, and your unwavering spirit have elevated you to a position of immense significance in the grand tapestry of the multiverse."
Kairi's heart raced with a mix of uncertainty and determination. She had always believed in the power of light, in the strength of her friendships, and in the bonds that connected all living beings. But to think that her very essence held the potential to shape the course of countless realities was a weighty realization.
Her eyes locked with Doom's, determination shining through her surprise. "If what you say is true, if I am indeed a Nexus being, then it is a power I will wield responsibly," she declared, her voice steady despite the inner turmoil. "But I will never allow you, Doom, to exploit that power for your twisted ambitions. The strength within me is meant to bring hope, unity, and love to the multiverse, not chaos and destruction."
Doom's expression twisted into a mix of frustration and fascination. The surprise had been unveiled, and now the battle for control of Kairi's power and the fate of the multiverse would commence. As Kairi steeled herself for the challenges that lay ahead, she knew that her role as a Nexus being would define her journey, shaping not only her own destiny but the destiny of all the worlds she held dear.
As Doom rose from his throne, the room seemed to shrink in the presence of his imposing figure. His eyes glowed with an unsettling intensity, revealing a glimpse of the darkness that resided within his soul. With a flick of his hand, he commanded his robotic minions into action.
The Doom Ultron sentries, a fusion of Doom's advanced technology and the formidable power of Ultron, emerged from the shadows. These mechanical abominations stood tall and menacing, their sleek metallic bodies exuding an aura of malevolence. Each one was a testament to Doom's mastery over both science and sorcery, a creation born out of his insatiable desire for dominance.
Their bodies were forged from a combination of durable alloys, granting them an intimidating presence on the battlefield. Gleaming in shades of dark silver and black, their cold and unyielding exteriors reflected the ruthlessness of their master. Razor-sharp edges and angular designs gave them an aura of deadly precision, while glowing red circuits pulsed with unholy energy.
Their movements were a symphony of lethal grace. With every step, they emanate an air of calculated violence, their joints articulating with mechanical precision. Their arms terminated in a variety of deadly implements, from razor-sharp blades to energy cannons capable of unleashing devastating blasts. These instruments of destruction were an extension of Doom's will, created to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies.
As they surrounded Kairi, their cold optics fixed upon her, she could feel the weight of their malice. They were relentless and unwavering in their duty to their master, their programming leaving no room for mercy or compassion. Each step they took resonated with a metallic clang, echoing through the chamber as a haunting reminder of the impending doom that awaited her.
With a heavy heart, Kairi was led away, her steps faltering under the watchful gaze of the Doom Ultron sentries. The ominous silence of the dungeon awaited her, its depths filled with the anguished cries of those who had fallen before her. And as the iron bars closed behind her, sealing her fate, Kairi couldn't help but wonder if she would ever escape this nightmarish prison, or if she would be forever consumed by the darkness that surrounded her.
***TVA INTELLIGENCE DEPARTMENT***
Mobius, stepping into the bustling corridors of the Intelligence Department, approached the agents on duty with a sense of purpose. He inquired about the progress on the Universe 5 case file, hoping to gather any valuable insights that could aid in their understanding of Doom's motives and actions.
"Has anyone been working on the Universe 5 case file recently?" Mobius asked, his tone tinged with urgency.
One of the agents, clearly fatigued from the complexities of the case, sighed and replied, "Agent Thompson is currently off duty due to stress. The Universe 5 case has been quite the challenge for all of us."
Mobius nodded, understanding the immense pressure that came with dealing with such high-stakes and elusive threats. The TVA's agents were constantly navigating the intricate web of the multiverse, and the weight of their responsibilities often took its toll.
Amidst the tension, another agent, Agent Lewis, chimed in with a glimmer of hope. "Actually, Mobius, I've been working on something that might interest you. I've noticed some energy spikes occurring at the moments of a universe collapsing and when a timeline is being pruned. It could be a lead worth investigating."
Mobius's eyebrows lifted, intrigue evident on his face. "Energy spikes, you say? That could be a crucial piece of the puzzle. Good work, Agent Lewis. We need all the information we can gather to understand the full scope of Doom's actions."
Agent Lewis, ever ready to lighten the mood, injected a hint of humor into the conversation. "Well, you know, it's not all doom and gloom around here. Pun intended." She grinned, eliciting a small chuckle from Mobius amidst the gravity of the situation.
But the levity was short-lived, for time was not on their side. They knew that every moment spent unraveling Doom's intentions was another opportunity for him to tighten his grip on the multiverse. The urgency of their mission weighed heavily upon them all.
"Let's not waste any time," Mobius declared, his voice filled with determination. "I want a comprehensive analysis of those energy spikes and their correlation with universe collapses and pruning events. It could provide us with invaluable insights into Doom's activities and possibly reveal his endgame."
The agents nodded, their focus shifting to the task at hand. They understood the importance of their roles within the TVA, the guardians of the sacred timeline. The stakes had never been higher, and they were committed to unearthing the truth.
***TVA RESEARCH DIVISION***
Sora's fingers danced across the holographic screens, scrolling through countless files in search of any clues that could lead them to a universe where Doom had met his ultimate downfall. The weight of their mission bore heavily upon him, but he pressed on with unwavering determination.
Riku approached Sora, a steaming cup of coffee in his hand, and placed it gently on the table beside him, showing a gesture of camaraderie and support.
"Thanks, Riku," Sora said, gratefully accepting the warm beverage. He took a sip, relishing the revitalizing effect it had on his weary mind. Riku took a seat beside him, his expression serious yet resolute.
Christine joined them, her expression reflecting a mix of determination and concern.
"We've been analysing the data, and it seems that finding a universe where Doom was soundly defeated might hold the key to unraveling his plans," she said, her voice tinged with urgency.
Riku nodded in agreement, his gaze focused on the files scattered across the table. "If we can locate a universe where Doom's reign was brought to an end, we might be able to learn more about his weaknesses and strategies. It could give us an edge in stopping him."
Leaning back in his chair, Sora contemplates their words. "But how do we find that universe? There are countless timelines and realities out there. It's like searching for a needle in a haystack."
Even entered the room, his face displaying a mix of exhaustion and relief as he carried a steaming cup of coffee and a doughnut. He took a moment to savor the much-needed break from his relentless research, joining Sora, Riku, and Christine at the table.
"Ah, the sweet taste of caffeine and sugar," Even exclaimed, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I needed this. My brain was starting to feel like it was stuck in a time loop."
Sora chuckled and gestured to the empty chair beside him. "Join us, Even. We've been digging through the files, trying to find any information about a universe where Doom was defeated."
Even settled into the chair, taking a sip of his coffee before responding. "Well, here's an interesting tidbit I stumbled upon during my research. In 99.99% of the universes out there, Doom is consistently defeated by a group known as the Fantastic Four, led by their brilliant leader, Reed Richards."
Sora furrowed his brow, a hint of confusion on his face. "Fantastic Four? I've never heard of them. Are they some kind of band?"
Eyes widening with recognition, a flicker of nostalgia crossed Riku.
"In my universe, Doom and the Fantastic Four were bitter enemies. Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm fought valiantly against Doom's tyranny. But... Doom's grasp over the Darkhold... it wiped them out, along with so many other heroes."
Even leaned forward, his voice filled with a mixture of awe and hope. "You know, amidst all the chaos caused by Doom's manipulation of the Darkhold across multiple timelines, there is one timeline where the Fantastic Four managed to not only survive but also banished Doom to the Negative Zone. They destroyed the Darkhold in their reality, ensuring that its corrupting influence would never plague them again."
With his eyes lighting up with excitement, a glimmer of newfound optimism shining within Sora.
"That's incredible! If they were able to overcome Doom and rid themselves of the Darkhold, then there's hope for us. We need to find that universe and learn from their triumph."
Nodding in agreement, Riku's voice filled with determination. "Indeed, we must uncover the secrets of their victory and bring that knowledge back to our own battle. The Fantastic Four's resilience and resourcefulness may hold the key to thwarting Doom's plans and restoring balance to the multiverse."
Even tapped his fingers on the table, contemplating the possibilities. "I'll delve deeper into the archives with Ienzo and Dillian, scouring every available resource for any trace of this resilient Fantastic Four. We need to locate their universe and make contact with them. Their experience and wisdom could prove invaluable in our fight against Doom."
As Even returned to his research with renewed vigor, Sora, Riku and Christine exchanged a glance, sharing a silent understanding. They knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but the knowledge that a group of heroes had not only survived Doom's onslaught but had also triumphed over him fueled their determination.
"In my reality, I never had the opportunity to meet the Fantastic Four". Spoke Christine, taking a swift drink of her coffe. "But, from everything I've heard and read, they seem like the best chance we have to defeat Doom and bring an end to his tyrannical reign over Universe 5. Their reputation as formidable heroes is renowned, and their ability to outwit and overcome even the most insurmountable odds is legendary."
Sora nodded, his eyes filled with determination. "I've read some research files about the Fantastic Four. They're known for their teamwork, ingenuity, and unwavering resolve. If anyone can stand against Doom and his dark machinations, it's them."
Riku chimed in, his voice resonating with confidence. "Their powers and abilities complement each other, making them a force to be reckoned with. Together, they embody the true essence of heroism and can inspire others to rise up against injustice."
As the trio contemplated their next steps, they knew that locating the universe where the Fantastic Four existed would be crucial. It would require traversing the vast expanse of the multiverse, navigating through countless realities and timelines, but they were undeterred. Their bond of friendship and shared purpose fueled their determination.
***UNIVERSE 5 - DOOM'S DUNGEON***
In the dimly lit dungeon cell, Kairi sat huddled on the cold, stone floor, her wrists and ankles bound by unyielding shackles. The air was heavy with the musty scent of dampness, and the faint sound of water droplets echoed through the confines of her prison. The cell itself was a grim sight, its walls covered in layers of grime and etchings that spoke of previous captives who had yearned for freedom.
As Kairi traced her fingers along the worn grooves in the stone, her thoughts drifted to her keyblade, Destiny's Embrace, which now lay shattered, thanks to Doom's hand. It had been her companion, her source of strength, and a symbol of her unwavering resolve. Its loss weighed heavily upon her heart, a constant reminder of her vulnerability in this dire situation.
She surveyed her surroundings, taking in the presence of the imposing Doom Ultron sentries stationed at each corner of the dungeon. They stood motionless, their robotic forms exuding an aura of cold efficiency and unyielding loyalty to their master. Kairi knew that any attempt to escape would be met with swift and relentless opposition.
Despite the grim circumstances, Kairi refused to succumb to despair. Her heart burned with a flickering flame of hope, refusing to be extinguished by the darkness that surrounded her. She closed her eyes, searching within herself for that spark of light, that unwavering belief that there was always a way out, a glimmer of possibility amidst the shadows.
"Who, who are you?" came a concerned and frightened voice.
As Kairi's eyes adjusted to the dimly lit cell, she spotted a figure emerging from the shadows. Her heart skipped a beat as she realized that it was another Kairi, a variant from another universe. This alternate Kairi had a distinct style, different from her own. Her hair was shorter, and her attire reflected a more rebellious and edgy demeanor. Despite their similarities, the differences between them were striking.
The other Kairi's eyes widened in surprise as she noticed Kairi's presence. Her voice trembled with a mix of confusion and curiosity. "You... you're me? But from a different reality?"
Kairi nodded, her voice filled with a mixture of awe and disbelief. "Yes, I am. It's... it's incredible to see another version of myself. How did you end up here?"
The variant Kairi let out a bitter laugh, her eyes filled with a touch of sadness. "Doom... he targeted me because of my abilities. He wanted to harness my powers for his own twisted agenda. I fought back, but he was relentless. Now, here I am, a prisoner like you."
Kairi's heart ached for her counterpart, realizing that they shared the same fate, captured by Doom for their extraordinary abilities. "We have to find a way out of here, together. We can't let Doom succeed in his plans."
The other Kairi's eyes flickered with determination as she nodded in agreement. "You're right. We need to stay strong and find a way to escape. I've been resisting him with everything I have, but he's powerful. We'll need to use our combined strengths."
Kairi couldn't help but feel a sense of connection with the alternate version of herself. Though they came from different universes, their hearts were aligned in their desire to protect and bring an end to Doom's tyranny.
***TVA RESEARCH DIVISON***
As Mobius entered the TVA Research Division, he carried a bundle of documents in his hands, his expression a mix of excitement and urgency. The team gathered around, their eyes fixed on the papers that held the key to unraveling the mysteries surrounding Universe 5 and its connection to the energy spikes.
"These documents," Mobius began, his voice filled with a sense of urgency, "contain the results of the diagnostics we ran on the energy spikes we detected. And the findings are astonishing."
He laid out the documents on the table, revealing charts and graphs displaying intricate patterns of energy fluctuations. Sora, Riku, Christine, Even, and Ienzo leaned in closer, their eyes scanning the data, trying to make sense of the information before them.
Mobius pointed to a specific section on one of the documents. "Look closely. The energy signatures from the collapsing universes and the pruned timelines bear a striking resemblance to the energy emitted by Doom in Universe 5."
The team exchanged astonished glances, realizing the significance of the discovery. The energy spikes that had been plaguing the multiverse were directly linked to Doom's actions, his quest for power and domination rippling across the fabric of reality.
Sora's eyebrows furrowed as he tried to grasp the implications. "So, these energy spikes are caused by Doom's meddling in different timelines and universes?"
Mobius nodded, understanding Sora's confusion. "You're partially correct, Sora. The energy spikes themselves are not directly caused by Doom's actions. The universes he visits are already on a path to collapse or have divergent timelines due to external factors. However, Doom's presence exacerbates the situation and accelerates the process."
He continued, "Doom seems to have a knack for finding universes on the brink of destruction or instability. It's almost as if he's drawn to these situations, capitalising on the chaos and using it to his advantage. While the initial branching timelines may result from the interference of other beings or events, Doom's involvement amplifies the disruption and intensifies the energy spikes we've been tracking."
Riku leaned forward, his eyes narrowing in contemplation. "So, Doom takes advantage of these vulnerable universes, exploiting their imminent collapse or divergence for his own gain. But what exactly is he doing in these universes? And how does he fit into the larger scheme of the multiverse?"
Mobius sighed, his frustration evident. "That's the million-dollar question, Riku. We still don't have all the answers. We know that Doom seeks power, control, and the ability to reshape reality according to his own desires. But his exact intentions and methods remain elusive. We suspect that he manipulates the energy from collapsing universes and harnesses it for his own purposes, perhaps to further enhance his own abilities or amass even greater power."
Even interjected, his mind racing with possibilities. "It's possible that Doom's presence in these dying or divergent universes provides him with unique opportunities. He may be extracting knowledge, artifacts, or energy sources that are exclusive to those timelines. This would give him an edge in his quest for dominance."
"It's a compelling idea and theory," Ienzo remarked, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Nexus beings possess extraordinary power and influence over the fabric of reality. If Doom seeks to reshape the multiverse, it would make sense for him to target someone with such abilities."
Riku crossed his arms, his gaze fixed on the documents scattered across the table. "But why for example would he target Sora's universe, one which was not collapsing or sprouting out? There are millions of variants of Kairi, what did 616 Kairi have that he desires?"
Chiming in, Mobius leaning forward with a thoughtful expression.
"Doom's actions could be a combination of arrogance and a message to the TVA. He may have deliberately chosen Sora's universe to showcase his power and show that even the TVA's interventions cannot prevent him from causing branches. By somehow altering a healthy timeline and causing Sora not to save Kairi, he disrupted the Sacred Flow of Time in Universe 616, altering the course of events."
"Which would have alerted the TVA, due to the branching timeline needing to be urgently prunned." Ienzo remarked, piecing together more of Doom's demonic plan.
Sora clenched his fists, a mix of frustration and determination welling up inside him.
"So, was it all just a game to him? He wanted to prove a point by targeting us, by targeting Kairi?"
"Doom and his counterparts across the multiverse are notorious for their massive egos." Voiced Christine, her voice full of distain". "They revel in their power and enjoy showcasing their dominance. What better way to challenge the authority of the TVA than by causing a rift in one of their monitored timelines?"
Mobius nodded, understanding the turmoil brewing within Sora. "It's important to remember, Sora, that Doom's actions were calculated and manipulative. He purposely targeted your universe, knowing the emotional impact it would have on you. By causing the branch and framing it as your failure, he aimed to sow doubt and guilt within you."
His gripped fists relaxed slightly, Sora's expression softening as he absorbed Mobius' words. "So, it wasn't my fault... Doom orchestrated everything to make it seem that way."
Even interjected, his voice filled with determination. "Exactly, Sora. We will delve deeper into the details and investigate how exactly Doom caused the branching timeline on Universe 616. We'll uncover the truth behind his failed attempt to capture Kairi and expose his manipulations. In my eyes, you are not to blame for his twisted games causing 616's branching timeline."
Riku placed a reassuring hand on Sora's shoulder. "We'll find the evidence we need, Sora. We'll prove that Doom is the one responsible and bring justice to the situation."
"Thank you, Mobius, Even, Christine, Ienzo, Riku. I won't let Doom's schemes break me. We'll uncover the truth, save Kairi, and put an end to his reign."Sora said with weight lifted off his shoulders, knowing he wasn't the fault in his timeline that led to the branching of a newtime, which he was arrested for by the TVA.
Mobius gave Sora a reassuring smile, his voice carrying a sense of camaraderie. "Don't sweat it, kid. It's all part of being an Agent of the TVA. We're here to help variants find their way, untangle the messes caused by those who would disrupt the flow of time. You're not alone in this journey. We've got your back."
Sora smiled back and thanked his mentor for looking out for him, knowing Mobius will put a good word into the higher ups at the TVA to show that the hero from Universe 616 wasn't responsible for the diverting timeline.
Mobius glanced at the scattered coffee cups and half-eaten donuts on the desk, a playful smirk crossing his face. "
"So, what have you all been up to down here? Just drinking coffee and indulging in pastries while I've been out doing some actual work with the Intel department?"
A sudden cheeky grin came upon Sora, who put his hands behind his head. He was ready to show Mobius that they were working and not eating sugary treats for the last hour or so.
"Well, we came up with a theory and it seems plausible", Sora noted with intrigue in his tone.
"Oh wow, what you got kid?" Responded Mobius, searching the doughnut box and seeing it was empty. Ienzo took the last doughnut from the box and Mobius gave the researcher a look for disgust for taking the last snack.
Sora responded with an air of confidence. "We need to find a variant of Reed Richards and his team, the Fantastic Four! They're the ones who have consistently given Doom a run for his money and put him in his place in a number of universes."
"To add to Sora's theory, we have also come across one timeline where Doom failed to wield the Darkhold successfully, and the Fantastic Four thwarted his plans." Even noted, backing up Sora's idea and theory with science. "They managed to banish him and destroy the Darkhold, ensuring peace and stability in their reality."
Leaning in with curiosity, Mobius piqued. "Which timeline is it, Even? Where can we find this variant of the Fantastic Four?"
Quickly tapping away on his console and a half eaten doughnut shoved in his mouth, Ienzo searched through the vast database of timelines and found the one they needed.
"Ah, here it is. Universe 1610".
Mobius raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the possibility. "Well, that sounds like a lead worth pursuing. We need to find these variants of the Fantastic Four urgently, they might just have the knowledge and abilities to put Doom in his place once and for all."
With renewed determination, the team set their sights on locating the variants of the Fantastic Four. They knew that with their combined knowledge, skills, and a bit of interdimensional luck, they could assemble the heroes necessary to turn the tide against Doom and restore order to Universe 5.
Little did they know that their journey would take them to uncharted realms, testing their resolve, challenging their beliefs, and pushing the boundaries of their own capabilities. But united by a common goal and the bonds forged through their shared experiences, Sora, Riku, Mobius and the researchers were ready to face whatever lay ahead, confident that they had the power to make a difference in the battle against Doom and bring Kairi 616 back to safety.
And so, fueled by determination, curiosity, and perhaps a few more cups of coffee, they delved deeper into the mysteries of the multiverse, embarking on a new chapter of their quest with unwavering hope and relentless optimism.
