Ultra Magnus and (Y/N) are expecting their first (and maybe only) child. Everything is fine the first three months, but things get scary one night when (Y/N) slips and falls. she thinks her water broke which terrifies her. The baby is fine and (Y/N) only broke her ankle but oh boy is Magnus furious, but at who?
(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
Everything is good; I'm friends with the Autobots. Sparkmates with the strictest one — it can be hard at times, but I love him — and three months pregnant with our first baby, or maybe only. I wait for Magnus to return, reading a pregnancy book.
Magnus is stressed when he walks in. His holoform sits next to me, kisses me, and rubs my smell pregnant belly.
"How are you?" He asks
"Good, glad I'm over frequent morning sickness. How was your day?"
"Busy."
He sits me up and rubs my back — though my back isn't aching badly yet. He does this for twenty minutes before we go to sleep.
I wake up the next morning as Magnus carries breakfast into the room. We enjoy breakfast in bed, but poor Magnus had to ruin the mood by saying he's leaving for another mission. This time, an Energon mine.
"I'll be back sometime tomorrow," he says and kisses me.
I spend the day reading a little more of the book, playing video games with the kids, a little exercise, and trying to eat enough. I watch T.V. in my room for a few hours before going to bed. I'd love it if I could call Magnus, but there's no way it's a simple mining operation. I am a little worried about how often Magnus will be away as our child grows up. Sometimes the Autobots are gone for days, but there are also long breaks in-between these missions, so our child won't be watching daddy go to a nine to five job. Oh boy, explaining the Autobots to our child, how interesting.
Two in the morning and I need a drink and use the bathroom. Oh gosh, how often will I when I'm eight months pregnant?
There's enough light to see where I'm going...until I slip and fall and shit, I think my water broke. You'd think Megatron was standing right in front of me, considering how loud I screamed.
Ratchet's P.O.V.
Waking up from a scream is concerning, but realizing it's (Y/N) is terrifying. I activate my holoform and follow the scream. I turn on the light in the hallway and see (Y/N) terrified and sitting in a puddle.
Oh, scrap, please don't tell me her water broke.
Glad I keep gloves in my holoform's coat. I put my finger in the puddle. I figured out what happened, but it's still not good. She's now crying, holding her side and ankle.
"I have to take you to the medbay," I explain, hating I'm going to have to cause more pain.
It's not too bad as (Y/N) doesn't scream as I pick her up.
I lay her in the bed and get the ultrasound machine. The heartbeat is strong and calms (U/N) down, but she's still afraid the baby is hurt, and this might turn into a miscarriage.
"It's ok, the baby is a little stressed but fine," I try to assure her before wrapping her broken ankle. I give her pain medication and try to contact Magnus, but all I get is static. I try Optimus and get through. My leader is concerned about (Y/N) and how furious Magnus will be, but he must get back.
Ultra Magnus's P.O.V.
Hearing (Y/N) is hurt is sad, but she's pregnant, and that makes hearing she's injured terrifying. I rush to get back to the base.
I activate my holoform and go into the medbay. Hearing (Y/N) cry hurts.
"What happened?!" I ask.
"She slipped and fell. Broke her ankle, but the baby is fine. She'll be on six weeks of bed rest as that's how long it'll take her ankle to heal. Doesn't mean keep her in bed, Magnus, but limiting movement, which also means a wheelchair," Ratchet explains, "she peed as she fell, which resulted in believing her water broke," he whispers.
Turns out Optimus has been listening from the doorway.
"Magnus, I am also putting you on a version of this bed rest; no more going on missions unless we absolutely need you, but this will be until your sparkling is born."
Ratchet, and I agree.
"Everything is fine, but I'd like to keep (Y/N) here for the day," Ratchet says.
I sit by the bed and try to calm (Y/N) down.
The kids are worried when they find out (Y/N) has been in the medbay all day. Though it's to help calm (Y/N), they panic seeing she's on the fetal heart monitor.
"Oh, scrap, we caused preterm labor!" Miko panics.
"I told you to clean up the mess!" Raf scolds.
"Would Ratchet seriously let (Y/N) deliver this way, when... there's no chance the baby would survive?!" Jack asks.
This is what they deserve.
"Babe, tell them," (Y/N) tells me.
"Kids (Y/N) and the baby are fine; she's being monitored to be on the safe side."
The kids still feel guilty but relieved to know everything is ok.
"DO YOU KIDS REALIZE HOW SERIOUS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN!?" Ratchet rages.
I know he'd dread delivering our baby only for the baby to die.
"I order you three to be grounded for the next two months and clean the base!" I scold.
"Also, help (Y/N) as she recovers from the broken ankle and as she gets bigger," Optimus adds.
The kids agree and go get the cleaning supplies. I still worry this will end in the premature delivery of my child, but Ratchet is a very good doctor and knowledgeable about anything around human health.
To be continued...
