Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, we finally met up with Livewire and Reverse Flash at an abandoned power station, where they were revealed to be part of a plan by Grodd and Brainiac to do... well we don't know yet. Meanwhile, Batman's allies have arrived, with the notable additions of Blitz by Blaze and Aero by Belial Aether. So, what is the plan here? Read on to discover...
(Our story resumes in Gotham's main power station, where Blaze, Blitz, Batman, Blue Beetle, Belial Aether, Flash, Aero, Jay Garrick, and Power Girl are just about to conference on what Blue Beetle has found)
Batman: What've we got, Jaime?
Blue Beetle: A strange pattern of surges, that all seem to centralize on one station. (To one of the station employees) Can you replay what you found?
Station Employee: No need, it's happening already!
(And just like that, the station employee points out exactly what he's talking about. A massive surge is making its way across the powerlines, heading for a specific station.)
Blue Beetle: That's exactly what I saw when I called you guys.
Blaze: Wait, where is that going?
Blitz: Or more importantly, where did it start?
Station Employee: The answer's the same. It started at the abandoned Kane Power Facility
Batman: Kane Power Facility? I've lived here my whole life, and I never remembered that one.
Station Employee: Probably because your family paid to replace it with the far more effective Finger Nuclear Plant. Never did get around to dismantling it.
Batman: Oh yeah, now I remember that place. I was listening at the door when Mom was arguing with Jacob Kane about shutting his coal plant for environmental concerns. That was always her thing. Wait, that place is still going?
Station Employee: 30 long years of it and hardly a problem in sight. And people say nuclear power is too dangerous. It's good to see that much of your family's legacy lives on.
Power Girl: As nice as all this is, we need to focus on the mission.
Jay Garrick: Power Girl's right.
Blaze: I'll be thy second on that. Where's the Kane facility?
(Before long, we see the Batmobile driving through the shuttered gates of the abandoned power facility, with the rest following not far behind it. As the vehicle pulls to a stop, Batman jumps out, rejoining the group as they break down the door to the building, entering to start their investigation)
Blaze: Stay vigilant everybody. Livewire and Reverse Flash could be anywhere around here.
?: How right you are!
(And just like that, Livewire appears out of the old generator, sparking to life almost instantly)
Livewire: (Noticing Blaze) Well, well. You must be the Legion's leading lady. Props to you and yours for taking out Superman. I always knew that guy was a prick.
Blaze: I take it you're Livewire.
Livewire: The one and only.
Blaze: I've got to know. What's someone like you doing with someone like Reverse Flash?
Livewire: Hey, don't take this personally. It's just a job. And he's just a contractor too, by the by.
Blaze: Wait what?
Livewire: Yeah, sorry about this, sister.
(And with that, Livewire unleashes a massive charge of electricity, permeating the entire room and zapping everyone as a familiar red lightning dashes into the room and runs circles around everyone, somehow directing the energy to hold them in place)
Livewire: That should contain them long enough for Grodd to get here.
Blaze: You're working for Grodd?!
Livewire: Hey, I said this was a job. I'm not part of the Society. Once I'm done here, you'll never see me again.
Reverse Flash: Yeah, about that...
(With that, Reverse Flash dashes out of the room, and starts running around a nearby river, forcing the water into a vortex and dumping it on Livewire, almost short circuiting her)
Livewire: (As she's in intense pain) What are you doing?!
Reverse Flash: Did you really think I'd let Grodd take the credit for all this? No, no, no. You all are my ticket out of here. If Brainiac sees that I was able to do what Grodd couldn't, he and his 12th Level Intellect will be able to show me the way to leave this century without being erased from existence. (Looks over at Flash) And while I'm at it, maybe I'll be able to erase you without erasing myself!
Blaze: Not if I have anything to say about it!
Reverse Flash: And last I checked, you can't do anything about it!
Blitz: Maybe she can't, but I can!
(This is when Blitz reveals she's not being held down by the static at all and manages to free Aero by neutralizing the electric charge)
Blitz: Aero, go dry off Livewire! She's still likely in control of this voltage! I'll get the speedsters and handle Thawne!
Reverse Flash: Oh no you don't, kid!
(Seeing Reverse Flash is active, Blitz deploys a bolt of lightning in his direction, throwing him off his track as she frees Flash and Jay Garrick with the electric charge. Immediately after that, the two speedsters are on the run to stop Reverse Flash.)
Flash: Pick on someone your own speed.
(With that, the three speedsters engage in a chase Aero flies up to Livewire and summons the winds to dry her off, restoring her spark.)
Livewire: Thanks kid.
Aero: Not a... (Recognizes her) Wait a second. Leslie?
Livewire: Wait, how do you know me?
Aero: (Removes his mask) It's me! Flint Tengu!
Livewire: (Recognizes him) Flint?! The awkward Freshman?
Aero: Did you really think I would forget the debate team captain?
Livewire: Whatever happened to you?
Aero: Long story short, developed superpowers, my parents died, and now we're here. We'll have to catch up later, right now, we've got a speedster to stop.
Livewire: After he turned on me like that... (Summons sparks out of her hands) Gladly.
(To start, Livewire reabsorbs her voltage, freeing the rest of the team. And soon, Flash and Jay Garrick chase Reverse Flash back into position, at which point Livewire lets loose the charge she stored up, and by almost sheer luck manages to hit Reverse Flash, sending him spiraling into the wall as everybody stares him down. At this point, Reverse Flash realizes he's outnumbered, and likely outmatched by this group)
Reverse Flash: If you think this is all it'll take to stop me, you clearly haven't known me for that long.
(At this point, Reverse Flash summons every ounce of the Negative Speed Force into him, starting to vibrate almost uncontrollably)
Flash: (Recognizing what Reverse Flash is doing) Thawne are you crazy?! This'll kill you!
Reverse Flash: (As his voice takes on the CW version's echo effect) If I'm going down, I'M TAKING ALL OF YOU WITH ME!
Batman: Flash, what the hell is he doing?!
Jay Garrick: He's using the Negative Speed Force to turn himself into a time bomb, literally!
Flash: If any of us get hit by that, we'll be wiped from history!
Blaze: Well how do we stop him?!
Flash: Equalize the charge with the same amount of the normal Speed Force.
Jay Garrick: But the two of us will never be enough to produce that much speed!
Livewire: Would a little extra stimulation help?
Flash: (Thinks about it) It's possible the extra electrical charge could jumpstart the process, sort of like a pair of jumper cables.
Jay Garrick: And it could also kill all of us that much faster!
Flash: It's either take a chance, or be wiped out permanently!
Jay Garrick: I guess we'll have to risk it.
Flash: Then let's do this.
(With that, Jay Garrick and Flash begin running circles around the Reverse Flash, whose lightning has turned from red to black. As this happens, Livewire and Blitz add extra electrical charge, and true to Flash's prediction, the extra electricity somehow jumpstarts the process, and soon enough the two are starting to sap away the Negative Speed Force energy from Reverse Flash. But soon enough the entire place starts to pulse with electricity.)
Blaze: (Recognizing something bad is about to happen) EVERYBODY GET DOWN!
(Heeding her warning, everybody who's able to gets down, but in the midst of it all, Reverse Flash sees something)
Reverse Flash: (In his own mind) I can see it all... the infinite multiverse... Wait... what is that? All of myself, it converges on... on him... Impossible...!
(At this point, all that can be heard from Reverse Flash physically is a cry of pain as, just as everyone reaches their top speed, the entire facility explodes with pure kinetic energy, seemingly atomizing the Kane Power Facility. But as the light settles, we see everybody has survived, though the explosion tripped up Flash and Jay Garrick, the former of whom appears to be holding his leg as if it's broken. But in the epicenter of the explosion, sits Reverse Flash, seared beyond belief, on his knees, just barely alive, but able to get some sort of word out, as his face freezes agape)
Reverse Flash: God... I... saw... God...
(And with that, Reverse Flash just collapses, and all anybody can do is stare in surprised silence as Flash limps over on Jay Garrick's shoulder)
Blue Beetle: Jesuchristo. What did he even do?
Flash: To be honest, even I'm not too sure what happened. (Seeing this) His obsession is what ultimately did him in. Just as he always rambled about. I killed him, just as he always said I would.
Power Girl: I'd say "twas beauty that killed the beast", but that seems a little cliche.
Jay Garrick: It might still fit.
Belial Aether: I'll alert the paramedics to this situation.
Batman: Highly doubtful they'll be of any use. I can't see anybody surviving that. Not even Thawne.
Flash: I wouldn't be too sure. He always comes back.
Jay Garrick: From that? Even I wouldn't be sure.
(Fast forward a few minutes and the paramedics have wheeled away the body of Reverse Flash, bits of his red lightning still arcing across his reversed lightning bolt sigil. But as the ambulance drives away, we focus in on the two paramedics)
Paramedic 1: No way in hell this guy's still alive. Not in this state.
Paramedic 2: So long as these speedster types can still produce lightning, there's a chance they'll survive. Trust me, I grew up in Central City. We know all about these guys.
Paramedic 1: But still, look at him!
(But before the second paramedic can respond, the ambulance grinds to a halt as a harpoon pierces through the doors into the back. And as they're ripped away, green magic grips the paramedics, draining their life essence from them. We follow the magic back, revealing Enchantress and Black Manta standing there as Cyborg Superman joins them)
Enchantress: You made an excellent roadblock my aluminum acquaintance.
Cyborg Superman: Still doesn't explain what we're after.
Black Manta: Doesn't matter to me.
(At this point, a familiar dark dragon's silhouette graces the scene behind the trio, his voice prompting surprise from the three supervillains)
Darkblood: If Brother Eye's predictions were accurate, this should be something most valuable indeed.
(At this point, the three supervillains turn around, revealing Darkblood in full. As each of them take a knee, Darkblood leaps into the ambulance and removes Reverse Flash's corpse)
Darkblood: Exactly as we were told. (Chuckles evilly as he carries him from the ambulance) You'll have your chance yet, my friend...
(And as Darkblood laughs over a closeup of Reverse Flash's face, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to wrap up for now. So, Reverse Flash was going to betray Grodd and take all the credit to hopefully get back to his own time. But it looks like that backfired horrendously, seemingly killing him. And yes, I did take the moment of his apparent death right from The Button, but it seemed to fitting given what I have planned for Eobard Thawne. People who have seen Age of Miracles may understand what is about to happen. But... what did Thawne see as he died? What does Darkblood want with his corpse? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
