Jack was gently swaying in the hammock below the deck of a ship, unaware of what was going on around him.
A sailor suddenly walked over and tipped him out of the hammock, "Shake a leg sailor."
As the man walked off,
Jack gave him an immediate answer, "Aye sir." He got up with a confused look as he pondered where his godchildren was. He was then forcibly given a mop and was told to keep moving. "There has been a horrible mistake," He said to Scrum, the man from the bar. Scrum just replied with a 'keep moving'. As he made his way up towards the deck, he was being shoved from behind by multiple people. "I'm not supposed to be here," Jack said as he continued to walk.
"Many a man's woken up at sea with no idea for when, what, or why, not even remembering the night before, once he's signed up and drank away all of his bonus money." Scrum said behind him.
"No, no, no! You don't understand, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow. The original, the only," Jack tried to explain.
"Scrum," The man said, "The pleasure is mine."
They were sent to an area below deck, to mop. After a while, Jack had looked up to see some men building what looked to be a glass coffin. He nudged his head to try and get Scrum's attention. "Scrum!" He said in a quiet tone. Scrum warily looked around before mopping his way over. "Why is there a glass coffin?" Jack asked him.
"Do I look like the man in charge?" Scrum asked with a smile.
Jack ignored his answer and asked "Where am I? And where are my girls?"
"S'cuse me Captain. I'll tell you later about the girls, but for now I'll be right honoured to welcome you aboard the world renown vessel of infamy, The Queen Anne's Revenge."
Jack stood up a bit straighter before muttering, "Black Beard."
After a few hours Jack and a small group of men were sent above deck to scrub. Scrum wasn't fast enough for the officer and he was whipped to the ground. Another bucket of water was dumped nearby for them to scrub as Jack started to talk some more.
"He's a curious one," Jack said as he moved the scrub brush around.
"He's been Zombified," Scrum replied.
Aye?"
"Zombified," Scrum clarified, "Black Beard's doing, all the officers are the same." He said while scrubbing away. "Makes them more compliant." There was a small commotion as the officer had whipped another sailor.
"And perpetually ill-tempered," Jack said. The officer overheard and gave him a nasty look, which made Jack look down at the deck as he heard Scrum.
"Come on, Scrub," Scrum said as he tried to keep him out of trouble.
After scrubbing the deck, the group was told to loosen the sails. "Five days underway at least?" Jack asked.
Scrum who was in front of him as he nodded, "Aye. You can tell that by the smell of the sea?" He asked.
"No...the smell of the crew," Jack replied with a slight sneer. He was tying off the rope when he looked up into the sky to see a man tied to the mast. "Oi," He called to Scrum. "What did that poor soul do?" He asked "And how do I make sure to not?"
"Him?" Scrum asked. "Clergy fellow, always going on about the Lord Almighty."
Jack raised a brow, "A bible member on this ship?"
"A missionary is his story. What I heard is he got captured, the rest of the ship got killed. But not him," Scrum said as he pointed to the poor guy. "First mate wouldn't let it happen, on account of his primary standing with the Lord. First mate is sticking her neck out for some prisoner. That you don't see," He said as he went to stand beside Jack.
"Her?" Jack asked, "The First Mate is a her?"
"BACK TO WORK!" One of the officers yelled at them. Scrum immediately went back to work, letting Jack look to the upper deck. He saw Angelica standing by the wheel with both Carmella and Faye. He showed a little bit of relief as he saw their faces.
"Scrum, you told me you would tell me about my girls. WHY are they with the First Mate?" He asked sternly as he went back to work beside him.
"Well, a few days ago before you woke. The girls woke up themselves, surprised pretty much everyone. Didn't expect them to wake up so soon," Scrum answered.
"They don't exactly do normal," Jack sighed.
"Kind of figured, with the way they started to beat up the Officers as they tried to find where you were." Scrum continued. "Got into a bit of trouble they did. First Mate threatened them with your safety."
"Oh, I'm sure they didn't like that," Jack said as he tied another rope.
"Didn't think so either. Deal was that they have to behave themselves and stay with the First Mate at all times, no funny business or else your life is forfeit." Scrum explained.
"Where have they been staying?" Jack asked as he tried to switch topics.
"As I said before, they have to stay with the First Mate at all times. She keeps them in her room at all times. " Scrum grunts as he ties up a rope.
Jack looks back at Angelica and the girls as he starts to think.
Fifteen minutes later, Angelica started to walk down below deck. Carmella and Faye were right behind her before she was pulled to the side by Jack. The girls decided to lean on a post nearby and watched them. Jack was holding Angelica to a pole with a hook in his hand. The metal was barely touching her neck as Jack leaned in close. "You are a ruthless, soulless, cross grained cur.
"I told you I had a ship," She hissed.
"Not about that, about threatening my girls," Jack said a bit peeved. "And no, Black Beard has a ship, upon which we are now imprisoned."
"We can do this Jack," Angelica said as she tilted her head close to him. Their lips close. "The Fountain of Youth like you always wanted." She then was pushed back against the pole more.
"Black Beard, Edward Teach, the Pirate that all Pirates fear. Resurrector of the dead in his spare time" Jack said. "The one you dangled my girls in front of. "
"He will listen to me," Angelica said as she looked at him.
"He listens to no one," Jack remarked.
"Maybe to his daughter," She said in a sly tone.
Jack pulled his hand away a bit with a confused look, "Daughter as in? Beget by?"
"Long lost," She said as she gently pushed Jack's hand away. "Recently found, who loves her dear Papa with all her soul."
"He bought that?" Jack asked his voice full of skepticism.
"I sold that," she said in a deadpanned voice. There was some noise coming down the stairs as Jack went to push the three girls behind some barrels to hide. An officer came down and walked away.
"Then the Fountain of Youth is for him and you?" Jack stated in a whisper. "Not you and me."
"No Jack, that's the best part. He will be dead," Angelica replied.
"Ah, so you'll be handling that yourself then?" Jack said.
"I'm not doing it, unless provoked," Carmella said before Angelica could say anything. Faye nodded silently as she carefully watched the Officer walk by.
"Me either," Faye said simply.
Angelica ignored the two for the time being and continued with their conversation, "There is a prophecy."
"Oh, I hate those," Carmella said with a groan. She got a side-eyed glare from Angelica before her gaze was brought back to Jack.
"Maybe you don't believe in the supernatural-" She said as she heard both Carmella and Faye start to snicker. She didn't like their little games.
"Oh no, I've seen a thing or two," Jack said before glancing at the girls quickly.
"The prophecy is this," Angelica said as she took the hook from above him and brought it to his neck. "Black Beard will meet his death within a fortnight, at the hands of a one-legged man." Hearing that part of the prophecy, Carmella and Faye looked at each other, knowing exactly who she was referring to. "That's why he needs the Fountain, Jack." She said as she brushed the hook onto the bottom of his lip. She then started to walk away and leave Jack with the two girls.
"You girls ok?" Jack asked as he looked over the two of them to see if they were hurt.
"We're fine, though we had been knocked out for three days. We kept asking about you but she wouldn't let us go near you," Faye said as she folded her arms.
"I really don't like that woman," Carmella growled as she folded her arms.
"Don't worry girls, I'll take care of it," Jack said as he looked to where Angelica had walked away.
Meanwhile, on a navy ship, Gibbs was manhandled to where Barbossa stood. "Oh Master Gibbs, if you're to be our map perhaps you should be so kind as to provide us a heading," Barbossa said condescendingly.
Gibbs moved to where the maps were before looking over his shoulder to one of the lieutenants, "Be a Jeb and pour me a gulper," He said before looking back down to the maps.
"We be privateers, not pirates Master Gibbs and in the King's name, we behave as such," Barbossa said.
"Aye, Captain," Gibbs replied before going back to the maps but got sidetracked as Barbossa spoke once more.
"Be we on the proper course Gibbs," He spat impatiently. His cold gaze on him.
"Aye, it be proper. There's your proof," Gibbs said as he pointed to the distance behind Barbossa, which made him turn. Barbossa and a few of his men walked towards the railing and looked. One of his lieutenants took out a spyglass and looked out towards the boats in the horizon.
"Spaniards," Barbossa said with acidity. He then turned around and started to bark orders. "All hands to battle stations!" Men started to get the boat ready for battle. "Gunners take post!" Barbossa ordered and men grabbed their guns and readied the cannons. "Await orders!" The hearing of lead balls getting put into cannon shafts were heard.
"Steady!" Said a lieutenant. "Guns armed and awaiting orders sir."
Barbossa grabbed the spyglass from the lieutenant and looked through it and saw the King of Spain.
"Sir?" The Lieutenant asked, "Orders?"
Barbossa put down the spyglass and looked over to him.
"Never so much as turned his head," stated Gibbs as Barbossa placed the spyglass back into his lieutenant's hand.
"The Fountain is the prize," He said before turning around. "It appears we be not even worth the time it would take to sink us. Now we have fallen behind! All hands make more sail!" He then started to turn the wheel to catch the wind as the crew started to bustle around to do his bidding. Under his breath he hissed, "You girls better be ok."
