This is Part III of the Memorial Day Special. Last time, we finally caught up with Scarecrow. And true to Darkblood's words, decisions were happening over dinner. And the decision was made that Darkblood would help Scarecrow in his goals with the scepter, but with the threat that he'd put the professor's head on a pike if this turns out to be nothing. Meanwhile, Blaze and company arrived over the scene and have started blasting their way in. However, we won't be catching up with them today. Today, we're going back to the mission on Ysmault. Been a while since we saw them. So, what're they up to? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes on Ysmault where Green Lantern and Shade are busy fighting off Atrocitus and his fellow Red Lanterns)

Atrocitus: (To Shade) I'm honestly disappointed in you, dragon. we could have been such a good team!

Shade: No offense, but I'd prefer to keep my heart functioning

Green Lantern: And red's not really his color anyways.

Shade: Speak for yourself, Jordan.

Atrocitus: You have made your choice clear, then. PREPARE TO DIE!

Shade: If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that...

(Now the battle is on. Atrocitus and Green Lantern fire off constructs at one another repeatedly, each cancelling each other out. Shade throws bursts of Shadow into the battle as well, hoping to either augment Green Lantern's constructs or cancel out Atrocitus'. But by the end of it, Shade finally realizes what Green Lantern is doing. He's clearing a path for him, so he can get the data. And after a confirming nod from Green Lantern, Shade dashes into his shadow and heads towards where Atrocitus said the data was. And for his part, Atrocitus does realize this and attempts to go after Shade, but Green Lantern grabs him back with a construct)

Green Lantern: Leaving so soon? And we'd just gotten to know each other.

(While the group battles, Shade arrives at right where he needs to be, right next to the Red Lanterns' Central Power Battery.)

Shade: Well, here's where he said it was. So where do I go from here...?

(After looking around a moment, Shade spots it, what looks like a cell block)

Shade: As good a spot to start as any.

(Without wasting a moment, Shade tears into the old ruin, and after a few minutes of looking around spots something that seems out of place. Something that looks like a tablet)

Shade: That... doesn't look like it should be here.

(With trepidation, Shade turns on the device and reveals it to be a prison record. Captain Avarice's record.)

Shade: There we go.

(Not wasting a second, Shade pockets the device and slips back to the battlefield, and just in time too as Atrocitus is about to crush Green Lantern's head)

Atrocitus: The dragon may not be willing to kill you. BUT I AM!

(And just as Atrocitus looks about to break through, a blast of Shadow Fire hits him, knocking him off Green Lantern as Shade returns)

Green Lantern: Did it work?

Shade: I've got the file.

Green Lantern: Nice. Then let's get the hell out of here.

Shade: Agreed. (To the group) All Legion and Republic players, report to the Javelin 7 immediately! We've got what we came for, time for us to leave!

(Heeding the instructions, the rest of the team blast back the Red Lanterns just in time to make their escape back to the Javelin 7.)

Zilius Zox: They're escaping!

Atrocitus: THEY WILL NOT GET AWAY FROM ME! AFTER THEM!

(Just as Starfire and Lobo make their way inside the Javelin 7, Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns catch up, with only Supergirl, Green Lantern, and Shade left to defend the ship.)

Green Lantern: (Seeing the entire Red Lantern Corps is on their tail) Oh shit.

Shade: Three of us against the entire Corps.

Supergirl: Stand back everybody.

(Without hesitation, Supergirl flies up into the fray and unleashes a massive stream of heat vision. Seeing the beam coming, many Red Lanterns, including Atrocitus and Bleez, stop before they get fried. The rest however, led by Zilius Zox, get completely disintegrated by Supergirl's fury before the Kryptonian returns to her team)

Supergirl: That should take care of them. Let's get going!

(Taking the opportunity, Supergirl, Green Lantern, and Shade enter the Javelin 7, at which point the ship takes off back towards Earth, with Bleez looking to Atrocitus in surprise)

Bleez: Why aren't you stopping them?!

Atrocitus: They are far stronger than we anticipated. The Kryptonian has made sure of that. We will need more than the two of us to ensure they are defeated. (Thinks about it) And I have an idea. (Looks at his ring) But before we act on it, I need to recharge my ring.

Bleez: Care to tell me what's going on?

Atrocitus: All in due time

(And with that, Atrocitus flies off towards the Central Power Battery to recharge his ring, with Bleez following behind him, still dubious about whatever plan he's going to enact, as our story ends for now)

This concludes Part III of the Memorial Day Special. For the Finale, head on over to the Dissida Final Fantasy intros. I will admit, this wasn't my best chapter. Truth be told, I really had no idea how to end the mission on Ysmault. I just decided to buckle down and finish it before I returned to Blaze and her magic team. There is something coming from all of this though. We just need to finish up that mission with Doctor Fate first. What am I talking about? I kind of referenced it in The Dark Order. Go back to that and you might see what's going on here. But if you do see where I'm going with this, don't spoil it for the rest. Next time, we pick up with Blaze and company.
