Carmella was distracted by trying to put out the fire that started near her and Phillip as he started to wake up. He got up as he quickly saw the mermaid trying to escape. He followed her quickly enough to corner her in the water and stab her tail to the shore below. He then leaned on a piece of plank. Carmella had looked over when she heard splashes and went to investigate him when the fire was contained.
"What are you doing?" Carmella asked as she watched him.
Phillip says nothing as he pulls out the sword before a net was thrown over to capture the creature. The Mermaid started to struggle and hiss as she tried to get out but the quartermaster started to tie her up more to prevent her from getting away.
Blackbeard then walked over and ordered, "Come, give a hand!" All the while the mermaid kept hissing. Carmella was just narrowing her eyes at them. "Well done, sailor." He said as he pointed to the priest. He then looked at Carmella, "And you my dear, thank you for bringing them in." A glare was his only response.
Jack struggled to shore as Faye was pulling him up. "Did everyone see that?" Jack asked as he splashed around. "Because I will not be doing it again." Carmella chuckled at her godfather.
"Have a nice swim?" Carmella asked.
"No," Jack said simply.
Ignoring Jack and Faye, Blackbeard started to order everyone, once more. "Back to the ship. We head for a protected cove. NOW." That's when a group of men had picked up the mermaid and started to follow their captain to the looked at Carmella and Jack before the trio reluctantly followed with Phillip at their side.
Hours later, Barbossa's crew arrived at WhiteCap Bay. Barbosa was on shore, as he kicked and poked his cane at the carcass of a dead mermaid. One of his men came to his side and kneeled down to observe the sand-covdered body. "Lord, is that…?"
"Mermaid," Gibbs said as he came behind the man. He looked at barbassa and said, "Give up this madness now."
"I cannot," Barbossa said as he looked passed him and towards the land. Gibbs had walked past him before turning around to continue their conversation. "Ever walk on the beach, look back and see your footsteps in the sand? It's like that, except the footsteps lie before me." All the while the rain came down. Barbossa then started to walk forward.
"Footstep, actually," Said another crewmate.
The one that was kneeling got up, "Whitecap Bay, sir. We must hasten." Then the four of them heard shrieking from the water. As they look at their boat, they hear their men screaming as the mermaids attack.
"We travel by foot. Gibbs, I require a heading," Barbossa said as he didn't look at the boat.
Barbossa's Lieutenant then walked up to him, "But, sir, the men."
"They be dead already," Barbossa answered.
"They don't sound dead." The Lieutenant argued.
"Oh, is that so?" Barbossa asked as he pulled out his pistol. "Well I hear nothing but seagulls nesting. What is it that you hear, Mr. Groves?" He asked him. All the while the men continued their shrieking.
"Seagulls…nesting," said reluctantly. "Nothing more."
Barbossa, satisfied with the answer, turned to Gibbs. "Heading, Gibbs?" He asked. The sound of wood creaking made them all but Barbosa turned to see the ship capsizing.
Seeing his fellow crewmates go down made Groves shutter and muttered, "My God."
Seeing Gibbs being distracted, Barbossa cocked his gun and pointed under Gibb's chin before saying, "Your head or my heading. I'll have me one or t'other, I don't care which."
"All hands, forward!" The Crew mate yelled to the rest that was on shore. Soon the group was being led by Gibbs.
"You're really worried about those girls aren't you?" Gibbs quietly said to Barbossa as they moved forward.
"Those bodies…There was too many bodies on shore. While those creatures won't harm them. I didn't expect that many to swarm. And the lighthouse was utterly destroyed. Who knows what kind of trouble they got into," Barbossa said gruffly with a sigh as he tried to concentrate on the task at hand. (The Aftermath)
