Optimus Prime is thinking about the ones who died. Cogman suggests a memorial. The bodies can be sent to the property for the event.
Warning: tissues needed.
Optimus Prime's P.O.V.
The fight with Quintessa is over. I lay on the ground with Bumblebee.
"In the mists of all the danger, you were pretty brave to challenge me, Bumblebee."
"You know I could have killed you? But I wasn't gonna miss the chance to save you even if I had to die."
Hearing Bumblebee say this, I realize the scout has grown so much.
"It seems bee has definitely grown up," (Y/N) observes.
"Yeah, facing death seemed so easy up until that moment; now I'm looking at things differently."
I find myself thinking about those who died in battle and at the hands of the humans. I excuse myself and go to the tree on the top of the hill.
Hours pass before Cogman approaches me.
"Sir, I have received word that the bodies of the fallen Autobots have been released. I need to know what we are going to do next? Shall I arrange for what humans call a memorial? I can arrange for the bodies to be put in caskets built like back home."
"Yes, that's a great idea."
"Very well, I will begin making the arrangements."
I trust Cogman will know what to do until a proper memorial graveyard can be built.
Three weeks pass before Cogman tells me everything has been arranged.
"Except for the memorial site on Cybertron, sir. I'll let you plan its design. I have arranged for the caskets to be moved to a secure location. It's either this or someone's subspace, which I believe wouldn't be honorable."
Third-person P.O.V.
Optimus struggles to tell the other Autobots and (Y/N) what's happening today. The others felt a mix of sadness; they'll be seeing their dead friends but happy their friends get a memorial they deserve. Even if they knew paying their respects meant painful sparkbreak that would be with them for weeks, they all stood around the caskets as the few permitted human friends, and Hot Rod arrived.
"Today, we come to remember our fallen friends and allies who have served as an Autobot to the very end. They may not be in the living with us anymore, but they will always be inside our sparks and hearts. They faced odds that could of never be predicted, even that spiraled into this extinction. May they rest and look over us all as we live on. Till all are one". "Till all are one!" Everyone says.
(Y/N) couldn't prepare a speech. The struggle being told last minute about this and the pain in their heart seeing their dead friends again.
Everyone tried to give a little speech, but it was hard as they fought back the tears. Cogman was the last to give his speech.
"Honor, loyalty, trust, compassion are things a knight must need to be a knight. But today, that holds a different purpose; these words describe the Autobots today. Even humans in their most definable moments can have honor," Cogman days, "no sacrifice no victory."
"No sacrifice, no victory!" Everyone repeats — doing their best to hide the sadness and tears they're trying to hold back.
Cogman begins singing in a voice resembling the lead singer of X Ambassadors, Sam Harris.
Bring on your forces of nature
Bring on the storm that's raging
And if you get lost in the shadows
There's a fire inside you
Be the light that guides you
Come on, carry your flame
Carry it higher
Leave it in the darkness
Carry your torches
Come on, carry your flame
Set the night on fire
Leave it in the darkness
Carry your torches
Bring on your bows and arrows
Bring on your plagues and pharaohs
'Cause if you get lost in the shadows
There's a fire inside you
And you know that I'll find you
Come on, carry your flame
Carry it higher
Leave it in the darkness
Carry your torches
Come on, carry your flame
Set the night on fire
Leave it in the darkness
Carry your torches
As they listen to the sing, (Y/N) lets tears roll down their face, forgetting they're with friends until Crosshairs picks them up and puts them on his neck cables.
"If you're going to cry, do it quietly," he says, clearly crying himself, but he's able to lower his audio volume much easier than humans. (Y/N) watches Crosshairs wipe the tears from his eyes.
Everyone sat on the hill, watching the sunset — or tried as tears blurred their vision. Sad their friends are gone, but happy their friends can finally rest in peace.
