A/N:

Thank you wonderful people for still sticking with me on this ride and enjoying (hopefully) the read.

As always, I don't own Hawaii 5-0, any and all mistakes are mine.

Summary:

Steve and Danny go on a fishing trip which goes horribly wrong leaving the two of them injured and shipwrecked.

oooOOOooo

"Kono, hey sista", Lou greeted the woman as she came around Steve's house to the back porch.

"Lou", she smiled at him and gave him a hug. Chin had risen from his chair and embraced his cousin.

"Cuz, how's Adam?" he asked.

"I visited him today and he's doing alright. It was good to see him and talk."

Both men smiled.

"I haven't seen Steve's or Danny's car parked out there. Where are they?" Kono asked as she looked around.

"Neither is here yet."

Kono rolled her eyes. "Oh my, these two are really something."

Chin grinned and offered his cousin a seat. Lou already seated held a longneck for her to take.

The three sat on Steve's lanai and looked out over the beach to the ocean enjoying the beautiful mild Hawaiian evening. In the far distance, they could see the remnants of a storm which must have raged over the sea.

"Steve tell you guys anything that he would be late?"

"No, he didn't say anything", Chin shook his head without taking his eyes of the dark and heavy clouds over the ocean.

"Hmm, same, same." Lou took a swig from his beer, "Maybe they're somewhere together and are just late."

"No, Danny told me he had plans for the day", Kono said.

"Wow! I can't believe our dynamic duo goes separate ways on their days off. Trouble in paradise?"

"For Danny? Always!" Kono exclaimed.

"Whereas others think of Hawaii as paradise, he hates it with a vengeance", Chin replied.

"So sad for him. He doesn't know what he's missing." Kono shook her head.

They took a drink, before Lou asked, "So, where's McGarrett then?"

"Maybe run some errands?"

"Maybe he went to pick up Danny? He wants to drive that Camaro." Chin grinned.

"Did you call him?" Kono asked.

"I called him earlier today to ask when I should be here. But the call went straight to voice mail", Lou replied.

"So did mine, when I called to ask if I should bring anything besides beer."

"I think we're good on beer", Lou answered and held up two pack of longnecks he had brought along and pointed with the neck of his bottle towards the two packs at Chin's feet. He pulled out his phone and dialed Steve.

"Voice mail", he concluded. "Let's try Danny then." After a short moment, he looked over to Chin and Kono. "Same."

"That's strange. Neither would turn off their phone. Not that long. There could always be a case. And Danny would never miss a call from one of his kids", Chin summed up.

Kono and Lou nodded in agreement.

"I really thought Steve was just out to get Danny or more beer or both." Lou grinned but he felt it was out of his place and he swiped his free hand over his face making the smile disappear. He got up feeling the need to do something. An unsettling feeling had found residence in the pit of stomach.

Kono placed her bottle down on the table and got up as well. With her hands on her hips she paced on the lanai.

Remaining his calm usual self, Chin sat in his chair but he felt the same uneasiness as his two team mates. He wasn't sure what it was but neither of their friends answering their phones was disturbing his normally collected and composed mind.

Stopping her pacing, Kono faced the men. "Shall we wait any longer?"

"With these two? No!" Lou grumbled lowly, "They're trouble magnets alone. Combined it's probably even worse."

"Let's go." Chin pushed away from the table to get to his bike in front of the house.

No further woods needed to be spoken and without further ado, all of them hurried around the house for their vehicles and headed straight for the palace.

Their opened beer and the remaining bottle were left on Steve's lanai without another thought.

oooOOOooo

Chin took a little detour on his way to the palace. He didn't think he would find what he hoped he'd find – his colleagues and more importantly friends – ohana – but he needed to be sure before the three of them moved heaven and earth because of Steve's and Danny's disappearance only for them having fallen asleep on Danny's couch watching a movie or game on TV.

When Chin drove towards Danny's driveway, he didn't spot the black, sleek muscle car out front. Steve's truck was parked there though.

Getting off his motorcycle, Chin's eyes roamed the area. But he couldn't make out anything out of the ordinary. He walked towards the truck and glance inside but it also looked the way it should. Moving around the front, his hand rested on the hood for a moment which was cool to the touch.

So, it must be parked here for a while.

The man walked towards the front door and knocked. "Danny? Steve?"

There was no answer.

His next knocking was stronger and more vehement.

"Hello? Anybody home?" Chin tried the door handle but the door was locked. Circling around the home, Chin peeked inside every window but the inside was devoid of any human being.

Pulling out his mobile phone, Chin called both his friends' numbers but he didn't hear any ringing but both went straight to voice mail as they had done before.

They didn't leave their phones inside then.

With another backwards glance, Chin walked back to his bike, got onto it and rode the way to meet up with Lou and Kono.

oooOOOooo

"Where you've been?" Kono asked while she stepped towards her cousin as he pushed open the glass doors to their office area.

"I checked out Danny's place", Chin replied.

"Find anything?" Lou inquired as he nodded approvingly.

"Steve's truck's there. But they're not. I knocked, nobody answered. The door was locked. All windows were closed and as far as I could see from the windows, nobody was home. I called their phones but they aren't there either. Voice mail again."

"So, McGarrett went to meet with Danny earlier today", Lou concluded, "They're worse than Bert and Ernie who already are absolutely inseparable." His joke did nothing to lighten the dull atmosphere. Although Chin and Kono smiled, their smiles never reached their hearts.

After a moment of silence, Kono informed the men who stood on each side of her by the smart table, "I issued a BOLO for Danny's car."

Chin nodded approvingly whereas Lou patted the woman on the back. She knew it was of place but she couldn't help the grin that crept over her facial features.

"What about their phones? What do we have on them?" Lou asked.

Fast fingers flew over the board before her. Then Kono swiped the information she had been able to find in such short time to the big screens in front of them. "It still needs a moment searching but it might come up with something."

"Alright, while it's still running its search, I'm gonna call some contacts", Chin said as he disappeared into his office space to place some calls with his informants.

"I check in with Duke. Maybe he has anything", Kono offered stepping aside while she produced her phone from her back pocket.

"You want me to operate the table?" Lou looked after the woman and raised his eyebrows.

"It can't get any worse than what Danny does", Kono grinned before she remembered who she had referred to and her smile died on her face. "I mean… You know…"

"It's okay", Lou assuaged the now agitated woman and wrapped strong arms around her, "Go, call Duke. I will watch this and in case this thing needs some more attention than mine, I'll let you know." He pointed towards the table and screens. Kono nodded and already dialed.
