(Y/N) joins a team to the arctic, though she doesn't like the cold. She returns feeling sick but ignores it, knowing Mirage will be pissed if he knows she came back sick, but she ends up passing out as she reunites with Mirage, Ratchet discovers she has a terrible flue, but neither Epps nor Lennox know how she ended up so sick.

"The arctic?" Mirage repeats, "for a week?"
"You realize scientists live in the arctic for months, researching, right?" (Y/N) asks, "oh, are you afraid there's another Decepticon frozen there?"
Mirage knows his sparkmate doesn't like the typical D.C. winter cold, so she will not like the arctic cold. Of course, he worries about her safety, but he knows the others would tell him it's not right to tell his sparkmate she can't do something she wants to do. He tells Epps and Lennox to monitor her, hoping they'll keep her safe. He'd spy on her if he didn't have his own mission and needed to leave at the same time (Y/N) heads to the artic.

The weeklong mission in the artic goes well. Though the mission wasn't entirely full of work. Epp's and Lennox thought (Y/N) was fine until they hear her coughing as they stand in the hanger. They also notice she's shaking from being cold.
"I'm fine," she assures them when they tell her to go to the medbay.
(Y/N) goes to her room, believing she just needs a hot shower and a nap.
I'm so busted if I'm sick and Mirage finds out. (Y/N) frets.

(Y/N) feels a little better after a nap, but that doesn't last long. By the time she goes to bed, she's coughing a lot. She doesn't think it's a problem that requires medication, though she ends up getting very little sleep.

Even though she's exhausted, she wants to be at the hanger when Mirage returns. She hurries to get ready and runs down the hall towards the main hanger. As she runs down the hall, she needs to cough. She keeps running as she's coughing, resulting in not paying attention to where she's going and bumping into Jolt.
"Are you ok?" He asks, "that cough doesn't sound good."
"I think I'm still adjusting to being in warmer temperature" (Y/N) lies and runs down the hall before Jolt can say anything or force her to come to the medbay with him.

(Y/N) doesn't think as she hugs Mirage, who hugs her and kisses her forehead, feeling how warm she is.
"Babe, are you ok?" He asks. He listens to her wheezing before feeling her go limp, "(Y/N)?"
Mirage picks her up and carries her bridal style as he runs towards the medbay. Jolt sees Mirage as he walks towards the medbay and leads him to a room.

"What happened?" he asks as Mirage lays (Y/N) on the bed.
"I don't know; she was happy and hugged me. I thought she felt warm when I kissed her forehead, and then she passed out," Mirage explains, panicking.
Ratchet rushing in and demands Mirage leave.
"NO!" Mirage screams and tries to sit on the nearby chair, but Epps and Lennox force him out of the room. Ironhide is already waiting in case Mirage tries to attack the two soldiers.

"I told you to take care of her!" He rages, "what happened?!"
"I do not know," Lennox answers, "she was doing fine right until we got back."
Lennox gets the same interrogation an hour later from Ratchet, hating he had to have missed something that would have showed him (Y/N) needed to be sent back early.
"Well, she has a 103fever and a bad case of pneumonia. I don't know how long recovery will take. It could be a couple of weeks before she's even well enough to recover back in her room. I know she will need an inhaler for a while," Ratchet explains.
Mirage asks Optimus to make sure (Y/N) cannot go on missions to the artic again. Ratchet jumps in and tells Optimus it's clear (Y/N) can't tolerate arctic cold. Optimus agrees with the two mechs, and Ratchet prepares the note to be placed in (Y/N)'s file.
"These missions are rare," Optimus adds, "but please don't limit what other missions (Y/N) can go on, Mirage," Optimus advises.
"I can have her work with you until she's clear for active duty again," Lennox adds.

The three mechs leave while Mirage sits by (Y/N), holding her hand. He knows there's worse than an oxygen mask, but he hates hearing how bad (Y/N)'s breathing sounds. He knows he can not stay with her until she's better.
"She'll be asleep most of the time for at least the first week," Ratchet explains, "her case is so bad, Jolt or I will have to stay with her."
And you want me to continue my work in my office away from her? Mirage questions but says nothing.

Ratchet allows Mirage to stay with (Y/N) all day, but by eight at night, the spy is forced to go to bed alone.

It's a rough two weeks as (Y/N) struggles to breathe even with oxygen. The two medics try to hold off putting her on a ventilator, knowing that'll help her but cause Mirage - who thinks (Y/N) will die - to panic even more.
It's already hard for Mirage to not be allowed to sit by (Y/N) all day. Even though she's asleep when he visits, he feels better hearing her breathing - even if she sounds awful - and seeing good vitals on the monitor.

Mirage is pleased when (Y/N) is finally off any oxygen support and able to eat. Ratchet wants to take it slow and have (Y/N) eat her favorite soup for a few days, then she can eat other food. (Y/N) is happy to hear she'll be working with Mirage for a few weeks until she no longer needs the inhaler. The two blush with embarrassment when Ratchet includes strict instructions to not frag for a while or (Y/N) could end up with symptoms like an asthma attack. Ratchet leaves the room, hating he has to include the 'no fragging' in his instructions and questions if Mirage and (Y/N) will listen to him or not.
